Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2025;24(3):349-355
The rural order-oriented medical program is an educatonal reform for cultivating doctors working in rural primary health care in China, but some students in the program suffer from various psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, difficulties in interpersonal communication, loneliness, inferiority and aversion to learning, due to multiple factors such as family economic conditions, growth environment, school atmosphere, and social support. Additionally, they face problems with low professional identity as general practitioners and uncertainty for career planning. From the perspective of innovative cultivation of psychological quality, systematic approaches and innovative strategies can be established to address these issues by improving general psychological status, enhancing learning motivation, strengthening professional identity and planning, and providing assistant psychological counseling. The intervention strategy involves strengthening the psychological education reform practice, psychological quality construction, and ideological and political education for rural order-oriented medical students, integrating these aspects across multiple dimensions. The aim is to provide a reference for research and practice in the field of training high quality grassroots medical and health personnel.
