Objective To observe the characteristic symptoms in breast cancer-bearing mice and the beneficial effect of ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharides on traditional Chinese medical symptoms.Methods Thirty-eight mice were used for modeling and divided into normal,model,positive,and low-,medium-,and high-dose ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharide groups.Mice in the normal group were not inoculated with tumors and mice in the normal and model groups received physiological saline intragastrically.Mice in the positive group received celecoxib solution intragastrically,and mice in the low-,medium-,and high-dose groups received the same dose but different concentrations of ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharide solution intragastrically.Changes in body weight and tumor size were recorded after 4 weeks of continuous administration.Symptoms were observed at the end of the experiment.RGB values in photographs of the tongues,tails,and claws from mice in each group were analyzed and recorded.The degrees of blood deficiency,yin deficiency,and tumor phlegm stasis were calculated based on the method of quantitative dialectical diagnosis.The tumors were isolated and weighed,and the tumor volume and inhibition rate were calculated to determine the beneficial effect of ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharides on traditional Chinese medical symptoms.Results Mice in the breast cancer model group showed signs of blood deficiency,yin deficiency,and phlegm stasis.Tumor size was significantly reduced in mice in the ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharide groups.Ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharides inhibited tumor growth and improved blood deficiency,yin deficiency,and tumor phlegm stasis in breast cancer-bearing mice,with the best result in the high-dose group.Conclusions Ginger-processed Jiangxiangru polysaccharides can improve the symptoms of blood deficiency,yin deficiency,and tumor phlegm stasis in breast cancer-bearing mice,especially at high doses.

Objective·To explore the efficacy and safety of compound amino acid capsules in the treatment of malnutrition and calcium and phosphorus metabolism disorders in maintenance hemodialysis patients.Methods·In this prospective,randomized,controlled,single-center study,forty maintenance hemodialysis patients from Renji Hospital,Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine were randomly divided into two groups,the treatment group(n=21)and the control group(n=19).The treatment group was given oral compound amino acid capsules on the basis of regular hemodialysis treatment,while the control group received no special nutritional intervention.Serum albumin,prealbumin,hemoglobin,ferritin,calcium,phosphorus,1,25-(OH)2-D3 and intact parathyroid hormone levels were analyzed every 3 months,and the incidence of adverse events including death,cardio-cerebrovascular accidents and vascular access failure was recorded.The total follow-up period was 9 months.Results·Serum albumin and prealbumin in the treatment group at 6-month and 9-month were significantly higher than the baseline parameters(albumin,t=3.574,5.599,both P<0.05;prealbumin,t/Z=-2.485,2.921,both P<0.05).Albumin in the control group increased at 9-month with a lower amplification compared to the treatment group(t=3.877,P=0.001),while the difference of prealbumin showed no statistical significance during follow-up.Hemoglobin and serum ferritin in the treatment group started to increase at 3-month(hemoglobin,t=2.192;ferritin,t=2.994;both P<0.05).Phosphorus in treatment group decreased at 3-month and 9-month(t/Z=-2.743,-2.103,both P<0.05),while phosphorus in the control group remained relatively stable during the first 6 months and increased at 9-month(Z=-2.178,P=0.029).Calcium and 1,25-(OH)2-D3 in the treatment group at 3-month and 6-month were significantly higher than the baseline parameters(calcium,t=4.581,4.922,both P=0.000;1,25-(OH)2-D3 t/Z=4.504,-2.374,both P<0.05),while the increase in blood calcium in the control group was significantly smaller than that in the treatment group during the same period.1,25-(OH)2-D3 in the control group showed no significant improvement.There was no significant difference in intact parathyroid hormone level,incidence of adverse events and other laboratory examination results between the two groups.Conclusion·Compound amino acid capsules can ameliorate the nutrition status and regulate calcium and phosphorus metabolism effectively and safely in maintenance hemodialysis patients.

Zi goose is a small local variety with high fecundity,good meat quality,roughage resist-ance,strong adaptability and excellent down quality.It is an excellent female parent for cross breeding among varieties.With the rapid development of goose industry,the variety of Zi goose has not been well protected,the variety is hybrid and degraded seriously,and the number of pure Zi goose is decreasing day by day.This paper reviewed the research progress on the breeding distribu-tion and preservation status of Zi goose and the variety characteristics of Zi goose,in order to pro-vide reference for the research,protection and utilization of germplasm resources of Zi goose and the stable development of goose industry.

Vanin-1 is highly expressed in many organs such as liver, intestine, and kidney. Its main function is mainly related to the activity of pantoyl enzyme mercaptoethylamine. Several studies have shown that Vanin-1 is related to oxidative stress and inflammatory response under physiological conditions, and its role in pathological conditions depends on the diseased organ. This article summarizes the structure, properties, functions of Vanin-1 and its role in the field of kidney disease.

Objective To investigate the correlation between iron metabolism index and intelligence development of Dongxiang and Han students in Dongxiang county and Lanzhou city of Gansu province.Methods A total of 396 students aged from 6 to 11 years old were randomly selected for venous blood collection from two primary schools with Dongxiang and Han children in Dongxiang county and Lanzhou city.Blood routine and serum iron metabolism indicators were detected and iron metabolism indicators from different ethnic groups were analyzed.Students diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia(IDA) named as IDA group,and students without IDA who had similar background were enrolled in the control group.The correlation between iron metabolism index and intelligence quotient was analyzed.Results The ferritin level of Dongxiang students (51.81 μg/L)was lower than that of Han students(65.73 μg/L),and total iron binding capacity of students in Dongxiang county [(65.04 ± 6.68) μ mol/L] was higher than that of students in Lanzhou city [(59.92 ±5.91) μmol/L].The transferrinsaturation of students in Dongxiang county [0.23 (0.19 ～ 0.30)] was lower than that of students in Lanzhou city[0.26(0.20 ～0.32)].The differences were statistically significant(P ＜0.05).Analysis of multiple linear regression showed that ferritin and serum iron were correlated to intelligence quotient score of the IDA students (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Ferritin and serum iron are associated with primary school students' intelligence quotient.Religious practice,regional economic and cultural level have a certain influence on iron metabolism of local primary school students.It is very important to strengthen the supplement of dietary iron in primary school students in Dongxiang County and reduce the prevalence of iron deficiency.

Objective To evaluate the effect of motivational interviewing (MI) on the quality of life and self-behaviour in peritoneal dialysis patients with poor control of volume management. Methods Totally 41 peritoneal inpatients with poor control of volume management were selected as the research object and were randomly divided into two groups. The patients in the control group received routine diabetes education, while the patients in the experimental group received intervention of motivational interviewing. The patients′ Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), cardiothoracic ratio (CTR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), self-management score and quality of life were measured before intervention and 6 months after intervention.Results The CTR and SBP level after 6 months were lower than baseline(P<0.05). The improvement of self-management and quality of life was much more significant in experimental group(P<0.05). Conclusions Motivational interviewing is more effective than routine peritoneal education on the improvement of self-management and quality of life in peritoneal dialysis patients with poor control of volume management.

Objective To study the correlations of pelvic endometriosis cysts with pain and infertility according to the revised American Fertility Society (r-AFS) staging of endometriosis.Methods We retrospectively studied the clinical information of 258 cases patients with the ovarian endometriosis cysts who undergoing laparoscopic ovarian endometriosis cysts excision from January 2007 to December 2013.In accordance with the r-AFS,the correlation between pelvic adhesions and pain symptoms or infertility was evaluated.Results Among 258 cases with ovarian endometriosis cysts,there were 72.09％ (186/258) of patients presented pelvic pain and 16.28％ of patients presented infertility.The stages of r-AFS were that 16 cases in stage I,80 cases in stage Ⅱ,108 cases of in stage Ⅲ and 54 cases of stage Ⅳ.Also,186 cases with pain symptom,77.42％ (144/186) of patients were in stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ,which was remarkably higher than that of no symptom group (25.00％ (18/72),x2 =64.017,P ＜ 0.05).Among 42 cases with infertility,there were 85.71％ (36/42) of patients were in stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ,remarkably higher than of no infertility group (58.33％ (126/216),x2 =11.283,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The r-AFS stage of pelvic distribution in ovarian endometriosis cyst is closely correlated with pain symptoms and infertility.Patients in stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ with pain and infertility are more significant.
