OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate precise assessment methods for predicting the optimal acetabular cup size in total hip arthroplasty (THA).
METHODS:
A clinical data of 73 patients (80 hips) who underwent primary THA between December 2022 and July 2024 and met the inclusion criteria was analyzed. There were 39 males and 34 females with an average age of 66.3 years (range, 56-78 years). Among them, 66 cases were unilateral THA and 7 were bilateral THAs. There were 29 patients (34 hips) of osteoarthritis, 35 patients (35 hips) of femoral neck fractures, and 9 patients (11 hips) of osteonecrosis of the femoral head. Based on anteroposterior pelvic X-ray films, three methods were employed to predict acetabular cup size, including preoperative template planning, radiographic femoral head diameter (FHD) measurement, and intraoperative FHD measurement. The predicted acetabular cup sizes from these methods were compared with the actual implanted sizes.
RESULTS:
The predicted acetabular cup sizes using the preoperative template planning, radiographic FHD measurement, and intraoperative FHD measurement were (51.25±2.81), (49.72±3.11), and (49.90±2.74) mm, respectively, compared to the actual implanted cup size of (50.57±2.74) mm, with no significant difference ( P>0.05). Regarding agreement with the actual implanted cup size, the preoperative template planning achieved exact matches in 35 hips (43.75%), one-size deviation in 41 hips (51.25%), and two-size deviations in 4 hips (5%); the radiographic FHD measurement achieved exact matches in 12 hips (15%), one-size deviation in 57 hips (71.25%), and two-size deviations in 11 hips (13.75%); and the intraoperative FHD measurement achieved exact matches in 26 hips (32.5%), one-size deviation in 52 hips (65%), and two-size deviations in 2 hips (2.5%). There were significant differences in agreement distributions between the three methods and the actual implanted cup sizes ( H=18.579, P<0.001).
CONCLUSION
The intraoperative FHD measurement, as a simple, cost-effective, and accurate method, effectively guides acetabular cup selection, reduces the risk of prosthesis wear, enhances postoperative joint stability.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2024;65(19):2045-2049
Rheumatoid arthritis is a common clinical autoimmune disease characterized by persistent synovitis and pannus formation. In late stage, irreversible destruction and deformation of bone and joint may occur. In this paper, the authors believe that kidney deficiency and essence deficiency is the core mechanism of rheumatoid arthritis bone destruction, and its disease evolution law is summarized as "marrow reduction, flesh flaccid, collaterals blocked". On the basis of modern medical understanding of bone destruction in rheumatoid arthritis, it is considered that the mechanism in Chinese medicine of "marrow reduction, flesh flaccid, collaterals blocked" ultimately leads to bone destruction, is similar to that in the western medicine of abnormal differentiation of osteoclasts, high expression of nuclear factor-κB receptor activator of ligand, and abnormal expression of inflammatory factors. This point of view may provide a more comprehensive and scientific understanding of the key pathogenic mechanism of bone destruction in rheumatoid arthritis.

OBJECTIVE
To observe the preventive and therapeutic effect of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder on cancer-related fatigue in postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy patients with breast cancer, and to provide a basis for using traditional Chinese medicine processed by modern processing to effectively improve the quality of life of cancer patients.
METHODS
Seventy-four female patients who received postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital from November 2021 to March 2023 were randomly divided into either treatment(n=37) or control group(n=37). Both groups were given 4 cycles of epirubicin(or liposomal doxorubicin) combined with cyclophosphamide adjuvant chemotherapy and corresponding symptomatic treatment: the treatment group was treated with sporoderm-removed Ganoderma lucidum spore powder 2 g·d–1, and the control group was treated with placebo. The incidence and severity of cancer-related fatigue, the changes in T lymphocyte subsets, serum inflammatory factors, intestinal flora, and the effects of drugs on blood routine, liver, and kidney function were compared between the two groups after treatment.
RESULTS
The incidence of cancer-related fatigue and the score of the Piper correction scale in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05), the proportion of CD3+, CD4+, and CD3-CD56+ was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05), while the proportion of CD8+ was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The counts of IL-2 and IL-10 were higher than those in the control group, while the counts of IL-6, IL-8, and CRP were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The counts of leukocytes, neutrophils, and platelets in the control group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05), and the abundance of intestinal microflora in the control group was higher than that in the control group. There was no significant difference in liver and kidney function between the 2 groups.
CONCLUSION
Sporoderm-removed Ganoderma lucidum spore powder can significantly reduce the incidence and level of cancer-related fatigue in breast cancer patients during adjuvant chemotherapy, inhibit inflammatory factors, regulate intestinal flora and body immunity.

Objective:
To explore the epidemic characteristics of injury related deaths in children and adolescents aged 1-24 years old in China from 2010 to 2020, so as to provide a basis for the formulation of policies and measures related to the control of injuries and deaths among children and adolescents.
Methods:
The data were sourced from the China Death Cause Monitoring Dataset from 2010 to 2020. Annual percentage change (APC) and average annual percentage change (AAPC) of injury deaths in China in this age group during the period 2010 to 2020 were analyzed by Join point regression.
Results:
From 2010 to 2020, the standardized death rate of injury showed a decreasing trend (AAPC=-6.90%, t =4.58, P <0.01). The standardized death rates of male and rural injuries showed an overall downward trend, with AAPC rates of -8.37% and -7.79%( t =11.87, 10.34, P <0.01). An increasing trend was observed in the 20-24 year-old age group during 2010-2018 (APC=18.11%, t =6.50, P <0.01). The death rate from injuries was higher in males than females, and higher in rural areas compared with urban areas ( χ 2=16 483.64, 3 268.65 , P <0.01). A downward trend was observed in accidental falls and suicide, the overall standardized mortality rate of traffic accidents, accidental poisoning, fire, drowning, homicide and other injuries (AAPC=-10.22%, -6.21%, -7.50%, -7.94%, -9.01% , -10.97%, t =16.23, 7.29, 2.53, 9.32, 7.88, 4.58, P <0.05).
Conclusion
From 2010 to 2020, the overall injury standardized mortality rate in the 1-24 year-old age group shows a decreasing trend, but it remains at a relatively high level. Prevention efforts should be continuously strengthened, especially for urban areas, and should focus on women and those aged 20-24 years old, as well as accidental falls and suicide prevention.

Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2023;41(9):685-688
Brucellosis can lead to pathological changes of multiple systems. Capillary leak syndrome (CLS) is a clinical syndrome caused by different reasons, mainly characterized by hypotension, hypoproteinemia and systemic edema. The condition is critical and the clinical manifestations are complex, and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) may occur in severe cases. CLS caused by brucellosis is extremely rare. The diagnosis and treatment of a patient with brucellosis complicated with CLS and MODS was analyzed in this paper, in order to improve the knowledge of clinicians about brucellosis and its complications.

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of interleukin-6 (IL-6) /signal transducers and activators of transcriptional 3 (STAT3) /helper T cell 17 (Th17) signaling pathway in lung injury of rats with sepsis intervened by forsythia, with a view to provide experimental basis for the role and mechanism of forsythia in the treatment of sepsis. Methods:In July 2021, 30 healthy Wistar male rats were selected and randomly divided into sham operation group, model group and treatment group, with 10 rats in each group. The rat model of sepsis was established by cecal ligation and puncture. 2 h after recovery, the rats were given traditional Chinese medicine forsythia orally, twice a day at an interval of 12 h. The wet/dry mass ratio (W/D) of lung tissue was detected 24 h after surgery. The morphological changes of lung tissue were detected by HE staining. Flow cytometry was used to detect Th17 population in peripheral blood. The expression levels of IL-6 and interleukin-17A (IL-17A) in serum were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The mRNA expression levels of IL-17A and IL-6 in lung tissues were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The expression levels of STAT3 and IL-17A in lung tissue were determined by Western blotting. Results:Compared with model group, the W/D of lung tissue in treatment group was decreased, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). HE staining of lung tissue showed that compared with the model group, the degree of lung lesion and injury was reduced in the treatment group. Compared with sham operation group, the proportion of Th17 cells in CD4 lymphocytes in peripheral blood of rats in model group was significantly increased ( P<0.05). Compared with model group, the proportion of Th17 cells in CD4 lymphocytes in peripheral blood of rats in treatment group was significantly decreased ( P<0.05). Compared with sham operation group, peripheral blood serum IL-6 and IL-17 of rats in model group were significantly increased ( P<0.05). Compared with model group, IL-6 and IL-17 in peripheral blood serum of rats in treatment group were decreased ( P<0.05). Compared with sham operation group, the expressions of IL-17A and IL-6 mRNA in lung tissue of model group were significantly increased ( P<0.05). Compared with model group, the expressions of IL-17A and IL-6 mRNA in lung tissue of rats in treatment group were significantly decreased ( P<0.05). Compared with sham operation group, the protein expressions of STAT3 and IL-17A in lung tissue in model group were significantly increased ( P<0.05). Compared with model group, the pritein expressions of STAT3 and IL-17A in lung tissue in treatment group were significantly decreased ( P<0.05) . Conclusion:Forsythia plays a role in alleviating lung injury by down-regulating the expressions of the signaling pathway IL-6/STAT3/Th17, which providing a new target for the treatment of sepsis induced lung injury.
