Depression is a psychological disorder that imposes a tremendous social burden, with a high prevalence in China. In recent years, the number of diagnosed cases of depression in China has steadily increased, yet the recognition rate of the disease remains low. Depression demostrates a clear familial aggregation pattern. To improve its recognition, numberous studies have utilized the polygenic risk score for major depressive disorder (MDD-PRS) as a potential genetic marker to identify high-risk populations. This article reviews the latest progress and research on the use of MDD-PRS in depression, aiming to clarify its capacity to capture genetic variations associated with depression, its interaction with environmental factors, and their relationship to the onset of the disorder. Additionally, this review evaluates the predictive performance of existing risk models for depression and proposes potential directions for future research.

A training curriculum for general practice faculty was developed in Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University in June 2019, which consisted three major modules: the construction of general practice discipline, teaching and training methods, and the basic principles of general practice. With the curriculum the trainings of general practice backbone faculty for Jiangsu Province were conducted from 2019 to 2023. The overal effectiveness of training, the satisfaction and gains of the trainees were evaluated annually, and the teaching ability of the trainees before and after the training was compared. A total of 190 trainees participated in the practice training, there were 34 (17.9%), 55 (29.0%), 27 (14.2%), 34 (17.9%) and 40 (21.0%) for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively. There were 82 males (43.2%) and 108 females (56.8%); those aged over 40 years old accounted for 52.1% (99/190); and 56.3% (107/190) were general practitioners. A total of 164 trainees completed the survey, 81.71% (134/164) believed that the main contents taught was the latest development and achievements in the field or the practical problems to be solved; 89.02% (146/164), 85.37% (140/164) and 86.59% (21/164) were satisfied with the teaching contents, teaching arrangements and their experience and participation in the training; 91.46% (150/164), 37.20% (61/164), 41.46% (68/164), 8.54% (14/164) and 3.66% (6/164) trainees felt that they gained most from expanding thinkings, improving knowledge levels, enhancing clinical diagnosis and treatment ability, improving operational skills, and improving scientific research ability. In the end of the courses, the assessment scores for general practice concept, course design ability, individualized teaching ability, teaching and training concepts, lecturing skills, and ability for self-evaluation were all higher than those before the training (all P<0.05). In general, the training for general practice backbone faculty had achieved good results and satisfaction among trainees in Jiangsu province from 2019 to 2023.

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2025;34(9):874-881
Radiation-induced esophageal injury (RIEI) is a frequent complication following radiotherapy for thoracic and head-neck malignancies, which may lead to severe sequelae including esophageal stricture and perforation, adversely affecting patients' quality of life and therapeutic outcomes. With advancements in radiotherapy techniques — particularly the adoption of unconventional fractionation regimens, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and combined molecular targeted / immunotherapy — the incidence of RIEI has been increasing. In this review, recent advances in understanding the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, risk factors, and management strategies for RIEI were comprehensively summarized. Current therapeutic approaches have evolved beyond conventional anti-inflammatory and nutritional support to include novel interventions such as targeted therapy, free radical scavengers, and microbiota modulation, etc. Future research should prioritize the development of optimized, individualized prevention and treatment protocols to mitigate RIEI risk and improve patient prognosis.

Circular RNAs(circRNAs)are a class of closed-loop non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs)formed by head-to-tail covalent bonds.CircRNAs participate in the development of osteoarthritis by regulating extracellular matrix degrada-tion,inflammatory response and homeostasis of chondrocytes; It regulates the osteogenic differentiation of bone mar-row mesenchymal stem cells, the activity of bone microvascular endothelial cells and angiogenesis to affect femoral head necrosis; It regulates the differentiation of bone marrow stem cells, osteoblasts and osteoclasts to cause osteo-porosis and it affects the invasion, metastasis and drug resistance of osteosarcoma through different pathogenesis.CircRNAs are expected to become a new clinical diagnostic marker in the future.

[Purpose]To evaluate the progress and challenges of grade-A tertiary cancer hospitals in China with the implementation of high-quality development.[Methods]The convenience sam-pling method was employed to select 13 grade-A tertiary cancer hospitals in China as the study sites.Data were collected over 4 consecutive years(2020-2023),including 8 indicators across 4 dimensions:number of outpatient visits, inpatient admissions and surgical procedures;average length of hospital stay;open bed capacity;and staff number,physician-to-nurse ratio, and per-centage of senior clinical staff. The changes in annual data before and after the implementation of policies to promote the high-quality development of public hospitals were analyzed using the gene-ralized estimating equations(GEE)statistical method.[Results]Compared with 2020,in 2023,the numbers of outpatient visits(55.47%),inpatient admissions(50.25%)and surgical procedures(46.17%),open bed capacity(10.02%),staff number(13.03%)were significantly increased in 13 hospitals, with a reduction of length of hospital stay(18.98%)(all P<0.05).However,no significant change was observed in physician-to-nurse ratios or percentages of senior clinical staff during this period(both P>0.05).[Conclusion]The analysis reveals that from 2020 to 2023,grade-A tertiary cancer hospitals in China have achieved marked improvements in overall service capacity and ser-vice efficiency, with resource allocation progressively shifting from material inputs to talent-focused investments, yielding higher outputs with minimal incremental inputs—a clear indicator of preliminary success in high-quality development.Future initiatives should prioritize workforce structure optimization, increasing nurse staffing levels, and enhancing cultivation of high-quality clinical professionals.
