Objective To assess the echogenicity of the ultrasound-guided catheter and its associated delivery system. Methods The study consisted of in vitro characterization experiments and animal studies. In the in vitro phase, the acoustic and mechanical properties of the ultrasound-guided catheter were compared with those of the traditional MPA2 catheter, including parameters such as echo intensity, recognizability, and angle dependence. In the animal experiments, a ventricular septal defect (VSD) model was established in miniature pigs to compare the procedural performance of the ultrasound-guided delivery system versus the conventional system. Evaluation indicators included the time required for the system to cross the VSD, the detection rate of the system within the right ventricle, and the occurrence of intraoperative complications. Results The ultrasound-guided catheter demonstrated a significantly higher mean echo intensity than the MPA2 catheter [(237.3±1.8) dB vs. (190.9±13.1) dB, P<0.001] and a markedly improved recognizability rate (82.3%±5.6% vs. 26.7%±3.2%, P<0.001), along with better angle independence and image quality. In animal experiments, the ultrasound-guided delivery system significantly reduced the time required to cross the VSD [(18.5±5.7) min vs. (30.3±4.5) min, P<0.001] and substantially increased the detection rate within the right ventricle (100.0% vs. 30.0%). No severe complications occurred in any experimental animal. Conclusion The ultrasound-guided catheter and its corresponding delivery system exhibite superior ultrasound visibility and operational performance in both in vitro and animal experiments, indicating strong potential for clinical application.

To analyze all-cause mortality among hepatitis C cases aged ≥18 years in Yuxi City from 2005 to 2023 and explore the interactions of factors influencing survival time. Baseline and follow-up data for hepatitis C cases reported during this period were extracted from the Chinese National Notifiable Disease Reporting System. Survival time and related factors were assessed using the Cox proportional hazards model. Kaplan-Meier cumulative mortality risk curves were generated for treated and untreated hepatitis C cases, and interactions among subgroups of various influencing factors were examined. A total of 5 110 hepatitis C cases aged ≥18 years were reported from 2005 to 2023, encompassing 35 349.25 person-years of observation with the follow-up time duration M ( Q1, Q3) was 6.17 (2.33, 11.08) person-years. There were 763 all-cause deaths, corresponding to a mortality density of 2.16 per 100 person-years. Survival analysis showed a statistically significant difference in cumulative mortality between the treated and untreated groups (Log-rank χ2=122.033, P<0.001), with a lower risk of death observed among treated patients. Additive model analysis showed that there was a synergistic interaction between treatment status and age group, with relative excess of interaction, attributable proportions of interaction, and synergy index of 6.16 (95 %CI: 2.70-9.61), 1.83 (95 %CI: 1.46-2.30), and 0.42 (95 %CI: 0.31-0.53), respectively; and between treatment status and gender. There was a synergistic interaction between treatment status and sex, with relative excess of interaction, attributable proportions of interaction, and synergy index of 2.63 (95 %CI: 1.14-4.13), 1.56 (95 %CI: 1.19-2.06), and 0.32 (95 %CI: 0.17-0.46), respectively. The cause of death composition were 38.53% (249 cases) attributed to hepatitis C-related causes. The leading non-hepatitis C-related causes of death were cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, pulmonary diseases, malignancies, drug overdose, and injuries. In conclusion, hepatitis C cases ≥18 years of age in Yuxi City had a lower cumulative mortality rate when treated than when untreated. Treatment status interacted with age and gender on patient survival, respectively. Changes in patients with concomitant cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary diseases and malignancies should be focused.

Objective To develop a nomogram-based predictive model for assessing the risk of respiratory distress syndrome(RDS)in premature infants in the high-altitude region of Dali. The predictive performance and clinical applicability of the model will be systematically evaluated to provide evidence-based guidance for the early diagnosis and clinical management of respiratory distress in premature infants. Methods A total of 680 preterm infants admitted to the Dali Maternal and Child Health Hospital between January 2020 and December 2024 were enrolled in the study and randomly divided into a training set(n=476)and a validation set(n=204)at a ratio of 7∶3.Independent predictors were identified through univariate logistic regression and multivariate stepwise regression analyses, and a nomogram model was subsequently developed using R software. The performance of the model, including its discrimination, calibration, stability, and clinical applicability, was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC),Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test, bootstrap resampling method, and decision curve analysis(DCA).Results The final model incorporated seven independent variables:gestational age, birth weight,Apgar score, blood oxygen saturation, gestational hyperglycemia, prenatal glucocor-ticoid therapy, and maternal history of infection. The areas under the curve(AUCs)for the training and validation sets were 0.88(95%CI:0.84~0.92)and 0.83(95%CI:0.76~0.89),respectively,with all Hosmer-Lemeshow test p-values exceeding 0.05.The bootstrap-corrected AUC was 0.85(95%CI:0.81~0.89).DCA indicated that the model achieved the highest net benefit at a risk threshold range of 10%to 35%.Conclusions This model integrates multiple risk factors associated with the occurrence of RDS in plateau environments, demonstrating robust predictive performance for RDS in preterm infants residing in high-altitude areas such as Dali.It can serve as a valuable tool for risk stratification and clinical decision-making,and may also provide a reference for future multicenter prospective studies.

Objective To investigate the effect of different radiotherapy doses on the prognosis of patients with stage cT1-4N0M0 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)who received radical radio(chemo)therapy categorized into subgroups with different tumor local factors. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 256 patients with clinically nonmetastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The optimal cutoff for tumor local factors was determined. The relationship between latest treatment efficacy and tumor local factors was analyzed, and independent indicators affecting patient overall survival(OS)were examined using multivariate analysis. The subgroup analysis was performed to determine the correlation between selected factors and radiation therapy doses. Results The shorter the X-ray length of esophageal tumor lesion and the smaller the lesion canal wall thickness and gross tumor volume(GTV),the better the latest treatment efficacy of the patients(χ2=9.066,10.310,15.661,respectively,P=0.011,0.006,P<0.001).Multivariate analysis results showed that GTV(P<0.001),radiation dose(P=0.038),and latest treatment efficacy(P<0.001)were independent predictors of the patients'OS,and the latter two were also independent predictors of the patients'progression-free survival(PFS)(P=0.033,<0.001).Subgroup analysis further showed that high doses of radiotherapy(over 60 Gy)resulted in good OS(χ2=5.040,4.588,5.400,P=0.025,0.032,0.020)and PFS(χ2=6.089,4.353,6.459,P=0.014,0.037,0.011)in the subgroup with maximum wall thickness below 3.7 cm,with esophageal lesions with GTV below 37.34 cm3,or not receiving simultaneous chemotherapy. Conclusion Local tumor factors are important prognostic factors of ESCC patients treated with radical radio(chemo)therapy.Patients with thin lesion walls and small tumor volumes may greatly benefit from high doses of radiation(over 60 Gy).
