OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of acupuncture on the neurotransmitter levels and gut microbiota in a mouse model of Tourette syndrome (TS). METHODS: Thirty-six male C57/BL6 mice were randomly divided into 4 groups using a random number table method: 3,3'-iminodipropionitrile (IDPN) group, control group, acupuncture group, and tiapride group, with 9 mice in each group. In the IDPN group, acupuncture group, and tiapride group, mice received daily intraperitoneal injections of IDPN (300 mg/kg body weight) for 7 consecutive days to induce stereotyped behaviors. Subsequently, in the acupuncture intervention group, standardized acupuncture treatment was administered for 14 consecutive days to IDPN-induced TS model mice. The selected acupoints included Baihui (DU 20), Yintang (DU 29), Waiguan (SJ 5), and Zulinqi (GB 41). In the tiapride group, mice were administered tiapride (50 mg/kg body weight) via oral gavage daily for 14 consecutive days. The control group, IDPN group, and acupuncture group received the same volume of saline orally for 14 consecutive days. Stereotypic behaviors were quantified through behavioral assessments. Neurotransmitter levels, including dopamine (DA), glutamate (Glu), and aspartate (ASP) in striatal tissue were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Dopamine transporter (DAT) expression levels were additionally quantified through quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Gut microbial composition was analyzed through 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing, while metabolic profiling was conducted using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). RESULTS: Acupuncture administration significantly attenuated stereotypic behaviors, concurrently reducing striatal levels of DA, Glu and ASP concentrations while upregulating DAT expression compared with untreated TS controls (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Comparative analysis identified significant differences in Muribaculaceae (P=0.001), Oscillospiraceae (P=0.049), Desulfovibrionaceae (P=0.001), and Marinifilaceae (P=0.014) following acupuncture intervention. Metabolomic profiling revealed alterations in 7 metabolites and 18 metabolic pathways when compared to the TS mice, which involved various amino acid metabolisms associated with DA, Glu, and ASP. CONCLUSIONS Acupuncture demonstrates significant modulatory effects on both central neurotransmitter systems and gut microbial ecology, thereby highlighting its dual therapeutic potential for TS management through gut-brain axis regulation.

Objective:To explore the relationship between irrational procrastination and compulsory citizenship behavior among clinical nurses,and to investigate the role of psychological entitlement in this relationship.Meth-ods:A sample of 413 clinical nurses from a tertiary hospital was selected for this study.The Irrational Procrastina-tion Scale(IPS),Compulsory Citizenship Behavior Scale(CCBS),and Psychological Entitlement Scale(PES)were used for evaluation.Results:The scores of IPS,CCBS and PES were positively correlated with each other(r=0.53,0.56,0.39,Ps＜0.01).Psychological entitlement partially mediated the relationship between compulsory citi-zenship behavior and irrational procrastination among clinical nurses,with an indirect effect of 0.17,accounting for 13.85％of the total effect.Conclusion:Psychological entitlement plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between compulsory citizenship behavior and irrational procrastination among clinical nurses.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy and prognosis of chemotherapy regimen containing Bruton's tyrosine kinase(BTK)inhibitor in the treatment of relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma(R/R MCL).Methods:The clinical data of 134 patients with R/R MCL were collected and analyzed retrospectively.The clinical characteristics of patients and effect of chemotherapy regimen on efficacy,overall survival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS)were observed.Results:The median age of the patients was 58(56-61)years old,and male to female ratio was about 2.9∶1.Patients with Ann Arbor stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ accounted for 77.6％,extranodal involvement＞2 for 43.3％,bone marrow involvement for 60.4％,gastrointestinal involvement for 24.6％,and hepatosplenomegaly for 38.1％.The median follow-up time was 30(2-103)months,overall response rate(ORR)was 41.8％,3-year PFS was not reached,and 3-year and 5-year OS rate was 62.7％and 53.8％,respectively.The ORR of BTK inhibitor group was 56.9％,which was higher than 32.5％of non-BTK inhibitor group(P=0.006).The difference was statistically significant in PFS between the two groups(P=0.002),but was not in OS(P＞0.05).The difference was statistically significant in OS between classical and special morphology(P＜0.001),but was not in PFS(P＞0.05).Ki-67 was an influencing factor for OS and PFS.Multivariate analysis showed that Ki-67,B symptoms,MIPI score,and Ann Arbor stage were independent prognostic factors affecting patients'OS.The second-line treatment regimen was an independent prognostic factor affecting patients'PFS.Conclusions:The chemotherapy regimen containing BTK inhibitors can effectively improve the efficacy and prolong the PFS of R/R MCL patients.Ki-67,B symptoms,MIPI score,and Ann Arbor stage are independent prognostic factors for R/R MCL patients.

Objective To investigate the risk factors of postoperative delirium in elderly patients undergoing spine surgery.Methods The basic case data of 566 patients who underwent spine surgery under general anesthesia from January 2021 to Jan-uary 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.There were 296 males and 270 females with an average age of(71.58±4.21)years old.There were 195 cases of cervical spine surgery,26 cases of thoracic spine surgery and 345 cases of lumbar spine surgery.According to the occurrence of postoperative delirium,the patients were divided into postoperative delirium group(41 patients)and non-delirium group(525 patients).Univariate analysis was used to analyze the possible influencing factors such as gen-der,age,weight,smoking history,drinking history,surgical site,preoperative anxiety,intraoperative hypotension times,blood loss and so on,and binary Logistic regression was used to analyze the univariate factors with P＜0.05.Results A total of 41 pa-tients developed postoperative delirium.Univariate analysis showed that age(P=0.000),duration of surgery(P=0.039),preop-erative anxiety(P=0.001),blood loss(P=0.000),history of opioid use(P=0.003),history of stroke(P=0.005),C-reactive protein(P=0.000),sodium ion(P=0.000)were significantly different between delirium group and non-delirium group.These factors were included in the binary Logistic regression analysis,and the results showed that age[OR=0.729,95％CI(0.569,0.932),P=0.012],opioid use[OR=21.500,95％CI(1.334,346.508),P=0.031],blood loss[OR=0.932,95％CI(0.875,0.993),P=0.029],C-reactive protein[OR=0.657,95％CI(0.485,0.890),P=0.007],preoperative anxiety[OR=23.143,95％CI(1.859,288.090),P=0.015],and sodium[OR=1.228,95％CI(1.032,1.461),P=0.020]were independent risk factors for the development of delirium after spinal surgery in elderly patients.Conclusion Age,opioid use,blood loss,preoper-ative anxiety,elevated c-reactive protein,and hyponatremia are independent risk factors for the development of postoperative delirium in elderly patients undergoing spinal surgery.

Objective To explore the safety and effectiveness of the robot-assisted system for transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation with lumbar instability.Methods From October 2021 to March 2023,26 patients with single-segment lumbar disc herniation and lumbar spinal instability were treated with robot-assisted system for transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic.The operation time,intraoperative blood loss,incision length,postoperative drainage volume,postoperative ambulation activity time,postoperative hospitalization time were record.The intervertebral space height and the lumbar lordosis angle before and after surgery were observed and compared.Pain level was evaluated using the visual analogue scale(VAS).The clinical efficacy was evaluated by Oswestry disability index(ODI).The interbody fusion was evalu-ated by Brantigan Steffee criteria.Results All patients successfully completed the operation,the operation time ranged form 105 to 109 min with an average of(150.8±24.1)min.Intraoperative blood loss ranged form 35 to 88 ml with an average of(55.5±16.4)ml.Incision length ranged form 1.4 to 3.5 cm with an average of(2.3±0.8)cm.Postoperative drainage volume ranged form 15 to 40 ml with an average of(28.5±7.8)ml.Postoperative ambulation time ranged form 15 to 30 h with an aver-age of(22.8±4.5)h.Postoperative hospitalization time was 3 to 7 d with an average of(4.2±1.3)d.Total of 26 patients were followed up,the duration ranged from 12 to 16 months with an average of(14.0±1.3)months.The VAS and ODI at 1 week[(2.96±0.72)points,(41.63±4.79)％]and 12 months[(1.27±0.60)points,(13.11±2.45)％]were significantly different from those before surgery[(6.69±0.93)points,(59.12±5.92)％],P＜0.0 1.The height of the intervertebral space(11.95±1.47)mm and lumbar lordosis(57.46±7.59)° at 12 months were significantly different from those before surgery[(6.67±1.20)mm,(44.08±7.79)°],P＜0.01.At 12 months after surgery,all patients had no pedicle screw rupture or dislocation of the fusion cage,and the intervertebral fusion was successful.According to Brantigan-Steffee classification,17 cases were grade D and 9 cases were grade E.Conclusion Robot-assisted system for transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic for the treatment of single-segment lumbar disc herniation with lumbar instability improved the accuracy and safety of the operation,and the clinical effect of early follow-up is accurate.

Based on the principle of'treating disease and seeking the root cause',Professor FU Wen-Bin proposed'treating radiation encephalopathy(REP)from yang',pointing out that the main pathogenesis of REP is yang qi deficiency,brain spirit dystrophy,phlegm and blood stasis blocking orifices.Using'supplementing yang and unblocking yang simultaneously','treating spirit from heart and gallbladder',combined with the method of regulating spirit and unblocking orifices at acupoints of governor vessol and conception vessel,and using the integrated acupuncture mode of'firstly applying needling,secondly using moxibustion,thirdly focusing on consolidation'to play the role of supporting yang and treating spirit can effectively relieve symptoms and delay the development of the disease.

Objective Studies on the relationship between iodine,vitamin A(VA),and vitamin D(VD)and thyroid function are limited.This study aimed to analyze iodine and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)status and their possible relationships with VA,VD,and other factors in postpartum women. Methods A total of 1,311 mothers(896 lactating and 415 non-lactating)from Hebei,Zhejiang,and Guangxi provinces were included in this study.The urinary iodine concentration(UIC),TSH,VA,and VD were measured. Results The median UIC of total and lactating participants were 142.00 μg/L and 139.95 μg/L,respectively.The median TSH,VA,and VD levels in all the participants were 1.89 mIU/L,0.44 μg/mL,and 24.04 ng/mL,respectively.No differences in the UIC were found between lactating and non-lactating mothers.UIC and TSH levels were significantly different among the three provinces.The rural UIC was higher than the urban UIC.Obese mothers had a higher UIC and a higher prevalence of excessive TSH.Higher UICs and TSHs levels were observed in both the VD deficiency and insufficiency groups than in the VD-sufficient group.After adjustment,no linear correlation was observed between UIC and VA/VD.No interaction was found between vitamins A/D and UIC on TSH levels. Conclusion The mothers in the present study had no iodine deficiency.Region,area type,BMI,and VD may be related to the iodine status or TSH levels.

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy and mechanism of Gushi Zaizao Pills for steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head(SONFH).Methods Male SD rats were randomly divided into normal group,model group,Xianling Gubao Capsules group and Gushi Zaizao Pills group.Except for the normal group,the rats in all other groups were replicated the SONFH model.After successful modeling,the continuous drug administration was carried out for six weeks.The thymus and spleen of the rats were taken to calculate the immune organ indices,the contents of interleukin 1β(IL-1β)and tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α)in rat synovial fluid were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),the percentage of empty lacunae and area ratio of trabecular bone was detected by hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining,and the femoral head parameters[reduction of bone volume fraction(BV/TV),trabecular number(Tb.N),trabecular thickness(Tb.Th)and trabecular separation(Tb.Sp)]were analyzed by Micro-CT,and bone strength of femoral head was detected by small animal bone strength tester.Results Compared with the normal group,the spleen and thymus indicators were significantly decreased in the model group,the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in rat synovial fluid were significantly increased,the percentage of empty lacunae was increased,the area ratio of trabecular bone was decreased,the BV/TV,Tb.N and Tb.Th were decreased,the Tb.Sp was increased,the bone strength of femoral head was significantly decreased,the differences being all statistically significant(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Compared with the model group,the spleen and thymus indicators were significantly increased in Xianling Gubao Capsules group and Gushi Zaizao Pills group,the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in rat synovial fluid were decreased,the percentage of empty lacunae was significantly decreased,the area ratio of trabecular bone was significantly increased,the BV/TV,Tb.N and Tb.Th were increased,the Tb.Sp was decreased,and the bone strength of femoral head was significantly increased,the differences being all statistically significant(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Conclusion Gushi Zaizao Pills can effectively prevent the further development of SONFH by regulating cellular immunity and reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors,thereby reducing the pathological damage of the femoral head and enhancing the bone strength.

Cerebral hypoxia often brings irreversible damage to the central nervous system, which seriously endangers human health. It is of great significance to further explore the mechanism of hypoxia-associated brain injury. As a programmed cell death, ferroptosis mainly manifests as cell death caused by excessive accumulation of iron-dependent lipid peroxides. It is associated with abnormal glutathione metabolism, lipid peroxidation and iron metabolism, and is involved in the occurrence and development of various diseases. Studies have found that ferroptosis plays an important role in hypoxia-associated brain injury. This review summarizes the mechanism of ferroptosis, and describes its research progress in cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury, neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage, obstructive sleep apnea-induced brain injury and high-altitude hypoxic brain injury.
