Objective:
To explore the comorbidity and associated factors of dental caries and overweight/obesity among primary and secondary school students in Guangxi, so as to provide a scientific basis for the development of targeted prevention strategies.
Methods:
A stratified cluster random sampling method was used to survey 178 700 students from the fourth grade of primary school to the third year of high school in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from September to November 2023, including physical examination, oral screening, and questionnaire survey. Chisquare tests and binary Logistic regression analysis were employed to investigate the related factors of the cooccurrence of dental caries and overweight/obesity among students.
Results:
The comorbidity rate of dental caries and overweight/obesity was 9.55%, with urban areas (9.95%) higher than rural counties (9.24%), boys (10.54%) higher than girls (8.54%), primary school students (11.49%) higher than senior high school students (8.92%) and junior high school students (8.05%), and nonboarding students (11.44%) higher than boarding students (7.94%), and all differences were statistically significant (χ2=26.07, 207.91, 471.54, 629.14,P<0.01). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that consuming cereal for breakfast (OR=0.91, 95%CI=0.88-0.94), drinking milk in the past week (OR=0.89, 95%CI=0.83-0.95), meeting sleep standards (OR=0.95, 95%CI=0.91-0.99), and brushing teeth at least once a day (OR=0.82, 95%CI=0.73-0.93) had a lower risk of the comorbidity of dental caries and overweight/obesity. In contrast, drinking beverages in the past week (OR=1.14, 95%CI=1.09-1.20), consuming fried foods in the past week (OR=1.11, 95%CI=1.06-1.17), eating fruit ≥1 time every day (OR=1.06, 95%CI=1.02-1.11), consuming fruit ≥1 type every day (OR=1.07, 95%CI=1.01-1.12), and having fish, poultry, meat, or eggbased breakfasts (OR=1.03, 95%CI=1.05-1.13) had a higher risk of the comorbidity of dental caries and overweight/obesity (P<0.05).
Conclusions
Dietary habits and lifestyle behaviors are associated with the comorbidity of dental caries and overweight/obesity among primary and secondary school students in Guangxi. Guiding students to form healthy living habits is helpful to preven dental caries and overweight/obesity.

To investigate the prevalence of influenza D virus(IDV)in cattle and swine populations in Jilin Province,China,277 nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from livestock exhibiting influ-enza-like symptoms for IDV detection.Virus isolation was performed using swine testicular(ST)cells for PCR-positive samples, followed by comprehensive analyses including whole-genome se-quencing,phylogenetic analysis, electron microscopic observation of viral morphology, and glycosy-lation site prediction. Two IDV strains were successfully isolated from bovine samples, designated as D/bovine/China/JL22/2024(JL22)and D/bovine/China/JL34/2024(JL34).These strains were demonstrated to have specific hemagglutination activity against turkey red blood cells, while no he-magglutination to chicken, rabbit,or guinea pig erythrocytes.Virus-inoculated ST cells exhibited distinct cytopathic effects(CPE)within 48 h,with a hemagglutination titer of 4 log2 in the culture supernatant.Phylogenetic analysis of the hemagglutinin-esterase-fusion(HEF)gene indicated that these strains were most closely related to the Japanese isolate D/Yamagata2019,belonging to the YAMA2019 lineage.Genomic sequence analysis showed the absence of genetic reassortment in these isolates. In this study, two IDV strains were successfully isolated and characterized, which provides preliminary insights into their genomic sequences and biological properties. The findings confirm the presence of IDV in bovine populations in Jilin Province and provide the fundamental data for future epidemiological surveillance and control strategies of IDV.

Objective To investigate the effect of peptidyl arginine deiminase 4(PAD4)on the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from oral bones(OMSC)and craniomaxillofacial development. Methods Immunofluorescence was used to detect the ex-pression of PAD4 in the mandibular of mice E13.5 embryo.A peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 knockout(PAD4-KO)mouse model was constructed.Craniomaxillofacial development was investigated by micro-CT.CCK-8 assay and Transwell assay were used to detect the OMSC proliferation ability and migration ability of PAD4-KO and wild type(WT)mouse.ALP staining was used to detect the changes in OMSC osteogenic differentiation ability. The expression of osteogenesis-related genes was detected by immunofluorescence and PCR assay. Results PAD4 was highly expressed in the mandibular tissue of mouse embryos at E13.5.On the cellular level,PAD4 was ex-pressed in the nucleus and mitochondria of OMSC.Compared to the WT mice,micro-CT showed that PAD4-KO mice had retrusive jaw and decreased mineralization. The proliferation and migration ability of OMSC in PAD4-KO mice were decreased.OMSCs lacking PAD4 had significantly decreased ALP staining level, and the expression levels of osteogenesis-related genes were decreased. In addition,it was found that PAD4 might affect OMSC mineralization by regulating Runx2 transcription. Conclusion PAD4 is expressed in the jaw during embryonic development. It might affect the embryonic development by regulating the proliferation and differentiation of OMSC,leading to craniomaxillofacial abnormalities

This paper systematically searched Chinese and English databases from January 2000 to December 2024 to screen the research literature related to labor positions and biomechanics.By extracting key information such as study type, position type, measurement technique, mechanical parameters and injury findings, we focused on the differences in pelvic outlet expansion, lower limb joint loading and injury risk between upright and horizontal birthing positions, and then summarized the biomechanical mechanisms and findings by using thematic analysis. The analysis showed that the upright position could significantly expand the pelvic outlet, but might increase the load on the ankle and knee joints;the combination of video capture and open-source platform technology provided a new direction for the dynamic study of delivery positions.

Nipah virus(NipahVirus,NiV)is a zoonotic virus that can cause encephalitis and severe respiratory symptoms in humans and animals, and is at risk of being introduced into China. At present, there are many factors related to the transmission of Nipah virus disease(NVD),but the actual effects of these factors are controversial. Therefore, with the help of meta-analysis,this paper aims to determine the current mortality and the main means of transmission of NVD,so as to pro-vide reference for the input of controlling Nipah virus disease and making emergency plans for pre-vention and control in our country.By searching the articles published in Pubmed,Embase,Web of knowledge,CNKI,VIP Chinese Sci-tech Journals Database and Wanfang Database up to December 31,2022,the literature of cross-sectional,cohort and case-control studies with NiV encephalitis fa-tality rate(CFR)and risk factors were selected. Results showed that a total of 25 literatures were included in the meta-analysis after retrieval and screening, and the fatality rate of NiV encephalitis was 64.6%(95%CI,60.8-68.2;I2=96.8%).Subgroup analysis showed that tree climbing(OR=1.43;95%CI:1.05-1.96),bats were seen near their nighttime residence(OR=2.38;95%CI:1.74-3.25)and direct contact with date palm SAP(OR=6.01;95%CI:4.07-8.89)Bananas(OR=2.25;95%CI:1.31-3.85)OR porcine(OR=11.87;95%CI:1.15-122.23)was significantly associated with NiV encephalitis. The results of this study suggest that NiV encephalitis has a high mortality rate, and tree climbing, nocturnal exposure to bats, and exposure to pig, banana, and date palm SAP increase the risk of NiV encephalitis. In order to prevent NiV transmission, epidemic surveillance, education and publicity should be strengthened and protective measures should be taken.
