The dominant eye is the eye that plays a significant role in visual perception. It plays an essential role in binocular vision and fusion functions with a complex formation mechanism.According to the principle of the dominant eye examination method, ocular dominance can be classified into sighting, motor, and sensory dominance.Changes in visual acuity or visual function due to the unbalanced progression of binocular disease may lead to the switch in the dominant eye, affecting the balance of binocular vision and the therapeutic effect. Therefore, misjudging or neglecting of the dominant eye will change the long-term visual balance between the eyes, which may affect people's visual quality and quality of life. These aspects are mainly represented in the process of refractive error correction, refractive surgery, strabismus correction surgery, amblyopia training methods and cataract intraocular lens measurement. The formulation of medical plans based on the strategy of the dominant eye can remarkably improve the reconstruction good binocular vision and the quality of life of patients. However, the role of the dominant eye in binocular vision is not fully understood, and clinicians are not sufficiently aware of its importance. Therefore, this study will review the latest research progress on the mechanism of dominant eye formation, examination methods, and clinical significance of dominant eye switching.

Background:
SM-like (LSM) genes a family of RNA-binding proteins, are involved in mRNA regulation and can function as oncogenes by altering mRNA stability. However, their roles in B-cell progression and tumorigenesis remain poorly understood.
Methods:
We analyzed gene expression profiles and overall survival data of 123 patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). The LSM index was developed to assess its potential as a prognostic marker of MCL survival.
Results:
Five of the eight LSM genes were identified as potential prognostic markers for survival in MCL, with particular emphasis on the LSM.index. The expression levels of these LSM genes demonstrated their potential utility as classifiers of MCL. The LSM.index-high group exhibited both poorer survival rates and lower RNA levels than did the overall transcript profile. Notably, LSM1 and LSM8 were overexpressed in the LSM.index-high group, with LSM1 showing 2.5-fold increase (p < 0.001) and LSM8 depicting 1.8-fold increase (p < 0.01) than those in the LSM.index-low group.Furthermore, elevated LSM gene expression was associated with increased cell division and RNA splicing pathway activity.
Conclusions
The LSM.index demonstrates potential as a prognostic marker for survival in patients with MCL. Elevated expression of LSM genes, particularly LSM1 and LSM8, may be linked to poor survival outcomes through their involvement in cell division and RNA splicing pathways. These findings suggest that LSM genes may contribute to the aggressive behavior of MCL and represent potential targets for therapeutic interventions.

The dried rattan stem of the Fibraurea Recisa Pierre plant contains the active ingredient known as fibrauretine (FN). Although it greatly affects Alzheimer's disease (AD), the mechanism of their effects still remains unclear. Proteomics and transcriptomics analysis methods were used in this study to determine the mechanism of FN in the treatment of AD. AD model is used through bilateral hippocampal injection of Aβ1-40. After successful modeling, FN was given for 30 days. The results showed that FN could improve the cognitive dysfunction of AD model rats, reduce the expression of Aβ and P-Tau, increase the content of acetylcholine and reduce the activity of acetylcholinesterase. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enriched differentially expressed genes and proteins are involved in signaling pathways including metabolic pathway, AD, pathway in cancer, PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, and cAMP signaling pathway. Transcriptomics and proteomics sequencing resulted in 19 differentially expressed genes and proteins. Finally, in contrast to the model group, after FN treatment, the protein expressions and genes associated with the PI3K-AKT pathway were significantly improved in RT-qPCR and Western blot and assays. This is consistent with the findings of transcriptomic and proteomic analyses. Our study found that, FN may improve some symptoms of AD model rats through PI3K-AKT signaling pathway.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a diffuse, systemic autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organs and systems, with patients exhibiting abnormal levels of various autoantibodies and immune markers in their serum. It is currently understood that dysregulation of B cells activation plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of SLE, as aberrantly activated B cells produce autoantibodies that inflict damage on multiple organs through complement activation and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cyto-toxicity. Traditional therapies for SLE may prove ineffective for certain patients or lead to adverse reactions. In most instances, conventional treatment merely alleviates symptoms and necessitates lifelong immunotherapy. A limited number of clinical cases have explored chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T) therapy as a potential treatment for autoimmune diseases such as SLE. Research indicates that CAR-T can specifically target CD19 expressed on the surface of B cells and plasma cells, achieving profound depletion while minimizing drug-related side effects. This report details a female patient diagnosed with SLE and lupus nephritis who was successfully treated using dual-targeting B cells maturation antigen CAR-T by our research team; following treatment, she ceased steroid and immunomodulator use, attaining sustained remission without these medications. The patient was a 23-year-old female. Multiple examinations in other hospitals and in our hospital showed positive anti-double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) antibody and low complement C3. Renal biopsy in our hospital showed lupus nephritis Ⅳ-G (A/C), and National Institutes of Health (NIH) activity index (AI) score=4. She was diagnosed with "SLE, lupus nephritis (LN)". She was treated with hormones, immunosuppressants and Chinese medicine, but the effect was not good. After the CAR-T treatment, She stopped using hormones and immune agents and achieved continuous remission with zero hormones and zero immune agents. She became pregnant six months after CAR-T infusion, and gave birth to a healthy full-term, full-weight baby successfully. She is the first patient in China who successfully discontinued hormone, immune preparations and gave birth after CAR-T therapy. During the follow-up of the patient, we found that the immune indexes had basically returned to normal, and the safety was good. It indicates that CAR-T therapy may represent a promising and innovative therapeutic approach for the management of SLE. This offers hope and establishes a precedent for SLE women of childbearing age.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2022;40(5):461-465
Postoperative endophthalmitis (POE) is a serious vision-threatening complication of cataract surgery, with an incidence rate of 0.033%-0.11% in China. In recent years, numerous retrospective studies and data analyses have reported that intracameral injection of antibiotics can effectively reduce the incidence of bacterial endophthalmitis, which commonly include cefuroxime, vancomycin and moxifloxacin.Globally, due to factors such as the availability, cost-effectiveness, and types of pathogens of POE, the drug choice varies to a large extent.Adverse events caused by antibiotics in the intracameral injection often occur, including macular edema, retinal vascular leakage, and uveitis caused by overdose of cefuroxime, and complications such as hemorrhagic retinal vasculitis obliterans due to vancomycin.Moxifloxacin, as a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone, has a significant effect on the prevention of bacterial endophthalmitis.Studies in the past five years related to moxifloxacin, and the significant advantages of moxifloxacin in the prevention of bacterial endophthalmitis, drug safety, duration of intracameral drug, and cost-effectiveness were summarized in this article.
