Objective:To investigate the efficacy of modified fire dragon moxibustion in patients with phlegm-dampness obesity and prediabetes. Methods:From April 2024 to March 2025, 62 patients with phlegm-dampness obesity and prediabetes who visited the Department of Endocrinology of Ningbo Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected as study subjects using convenience sampling. The study subjects were divided into an intervention group and a control group using a random number table method, with 31 cases in each group. Control group received conventional medication, dietary and exercise management, while intervention group received modified fire dragon moxibustion in addition to conventional medication, dietary and exercise management. Both groups underwent the intervention for 60 days. Fasting blood glucose (FBG) , glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) , triglycerides (TG) , body mass index, fasting insulin (FINS) , and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results:After intervention, the body mass index, FBG, HbA1c, FINS, and HOMA-IR of intervention group were lower than those of control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:The modified fire dragon moxibustion can reduce the body mass index, improve glucose metabolism indicators, and FINS and HOMA-IR levels in patients with phlegm-dampness obesity and prediabetes.

Chinese Journal of Comparative Medicine 2024;34(12):143-150
Autophagy is a crucial physiological process in cells and an important mechanism in the maintenance of cell homeostasis and regulation of cell survival.Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)is an interstitial lung disease of unknown etiology with a poor prognosis, characterized by alveolar epithelial cell damage and abnormal proliferation and activation of fibroblasts.IPF is accompanied by the excessive deposition of extracellular matrix(ECM),and its pathogenesis involves a complex interaction between cell types and signaling pathways.Defects in autophagy function have been shown to play a key role in the occurrence and development of IPF.This review aims to investigate the mechanism of autophagy in IPF and reveal its complexity and related signaling pathways.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and correlates of depression in residents aged 15 and older in Hainan province. Methods Stratified multistage random sampling methods were utilized to identify 12 117 individuals (≥15 years old) from 59 villages (neighborhoods) in 24 towns (streets) within 6 counties (cities) in Hainan Province from September 2010 to November 2011.The subjects were screened with an expanded version of the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) and the respondents were divided into three groups by high risk, moderate risk and low risk of mental disorder, followed by formal diagnosis according to the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR (SCID-I/P) by psychiatrists among 100% subjects in group with high risk,40% subjects in group with moderate risk and 10% subjects in group with low risk. The adjusted rate, standardized rate, and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) of the one-month and lifetime prevalence were also calculated among the 3 groups of individuals who were diagnosed with depressive disorder. The difference in whether they suffered depression was determined by the chi-squared test.Correlations to depressive disorder and the odds ratio (OR) were explored with multiple regression analysis. Results There were 97 cases of depressive disorders (1-month) and 166 cases of lifetime depressive disorders finally confirmed. The adjusted rate of 1-month prevalence was 1.38% (95%CI:1.12-1.59) and the life-time adjusted prevalence rate was 2.80% (95%CI:2.51-3.09).Female (OR=1.55,95%CI:1.12-2.14),mid-age(50-64 y,OR=1.84,95%CI:1.13-2.99),being divorced or living separated (OR=4.87,95%CI:1.86-12.73),suffering chronic diseases (OR=2.19,95%CI:1.56-3.07),and low family income were significantly associated with suffering depressive disorder. Conclusions The prevalence of the depressive disorder among residents aged 15 and older in Hainan province is lower than the nationwide prevalence.People who are female,mid-age,being divorced or not living with the partner, earning a low income, and suffering chronic diseases have more predisposition to develop the depressive disorder in Hainan province.

Objective To explore facial characteristics of patients with different organ diseases; To provide some references for objective study on TCM inspection information. Methods Smart TCM-I type Life Information Analysis Systems was used to detect facial characteristics of 510 patients with five zang-organs diseases. 36 specific quantitative parameters including red ?, green (G), blue (B) and hue (H), saturation (S), value (V) of the face, forehead, eyes, cheeks, nose and chin were collected, and the Kruskal M-Wallis H and Nemenyi test were used for statistical analysis. Results Among the 510 patients with five zang-organs diseases, 96 patients belonged to lung system diseases, 105 heart system diseases, 101 liver system diseases, 107 spleen and stomach system diseases and 101 kidney system diseases. There was statistical significance in R, G, B, H, S, and V in forehead, eyes, cheeks and nose. Conclusion Facial characteristics can provide objective references for the facial division of five zang-organs diseases.

Objective To explore the relationship between the serum anticardiolipin antibody (ACA),vascular endothelial grow factor (VEGF) concentration and cognitive impairment in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods Totally 128 cases with acute ischemic stroke were admmitted in stroke unit ward of our hospital during June 2014 to December 2014.According to the score of Montreal cognitive assessnent (MoCA),128 patients with ischemic stroke were divided into groups A (53 cases with cognitive impairment) and group B (75 cases without cognitive impairment). The concentrations of serum ACA,VEGF were quantitatively determinated by ELISA.The differences of serum ACA,VEGF concentrations were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with normal cognitive function group, the cognitive impairment patients had significantly higher ACA concentration ((0.86±0.16) mg/L vs (0.52±0.08) mg/L,P<0.01),and lower VEGF concentration ((197.60±7.48) pg/ml vs (205.80±8.52) pg/ml,P<0.05).Logistic regression revealed that ACA and VEGF were independent effect factors for cognitive impairment (ACA:B =2.841,OR =0.33,95 % CI =0.118-0.926,P=0.025.V EGF:B =-1.674,OR =4.99,95% CI =1.688-4.741,P=0.034).Conclusion ACA and VEGF may play an important role in cognitive impairment after ischemic stroke.
