When inflammation is continuously activated or dysregulated, it can induce chronic tissue injury and organ dysfunction, and participate in the occurrence and development of various inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease. Owing to high targeting, long-acting efficacy and programmability, nucleic acid drugs provide a new direction for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. This article reviews the classification, mechanism of action and application progress of nucleic acid drugs in inflammatory diseases. It is found that small interfering RNA (siRNA) can specifically cut target mRNA through RNA interference to achieve inhibiting the expression of the target protein; antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) can inhibit target protein expression by inducing microRNA (miRNA) degradation or regulating splicing processes; miRNA can achieve network intervention by regulating multiple inflammatory target genes. At present, important breakthroughs have been made in the field of inflammatory diseases with siRNA drugs including Lumasiran, Nedosiran (for primary hyperoxaluria 1) and Inclisiran (for atherosclerosis), ASO drugs including Donidalorsen (for hereditary angioedema), Volanesorsen and Olezarsen (for familial chylomicronemia syndrome) and Lademirsen (for Alport syndrome), as well as miRNA drugs including Obefazimod (for inflammatory bowel disease) and Remlarsen (for pathological fibrosis). These drugs are expected to become a new generation of anti-inflammatory therapeutic strategies and bring more precise and efficient treatment options for patients with chronic inflammation and fibrotic diseases.

Objective To analyze the emergency testing results of a mixed poisoning incident involving methyl acetate and dimethyl carbonate in a composite fabric processing enterprise. Methods A mixed poisoning incident involving methyl acetate and dimethyl carbonate occurred at a composite fabric processing enterprise in a city of Guangdong Province. On-site occupational health investigation data and laboratory testing results related to this incident were collected, and an integrated analysis was conducted. Results The on-site occupational health investigation revealed inadequate ventilation and non-standard use of personal protective equipment. Volatile organic component analysis of raw and auxiliary materials showed that methyl acetate and dimethyl carbonate had relatively high percentages of peak area among all used volatile organic chemical agents in post-incident emergency testing, accounting for 65.10% and 38.25%, respectively. The exposure concentration of short term (CSTE) of methyl acetate in the production line air was 15.13 mg/m³. In the chemical storage area, CSTE of methyl acetate and methanol were 451.04 and <0.21 mg/m³, respectively, all below their respective occupational exposure limits (500.00 and 50.00 mg/m³). In the poisoned workers, blood methanol, blood formic acid, and urinary formic acid levels were 147, 414, and 4 389 mg/L, respectively. Conclusion Occupational exposure to methyl acetate and dimethyl carbonate may lead to acute occupational poisoning and cause health damage. Employers should fulfill their responsibilities for occupational disease prevention by ensuring proper operation of protective facilities, while workers should enhance awareness of occupational disease prevention and correctly use personal protective equipment.

Objective To analyze the elevated blood pressure status and its influencing factors among manufacturing workers in Foshan City. Methods A total of 565 795 manufacturing workers who underwent occupational medical examinations in Foshan City from 2017 to 2023 were included. Data of workers were obtained from the Guangdong Provincial Key Occupational Disease Monitoring and Management Platform. The influencing factors of elevated blood pressure were analyzed using descriptive epidemiological methods. Results A total of 89 526 cases of elevated blood pressure were detected among the 565 795 workers, with a detection rate of 15.82%. From 2017 to 2023, the annual detection rate of elevated blood pressure was 14.11%, 15.00%, 14.69%, 15.94%, 17.00%, 16.90%, and 16.68%, respectively, showing an overall upward trend (P<0.01). The top three industries with the highest detection rates of elevated blood pressure were instrument and meter manufacturing; wood processing and the manufacture of wood, bamboo, rattan, palm, and straw products; as well as agricultural and sideline food processing. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that male workers had a higher risk of elevated blood pressure than female workers (P<0.01). The risk of elevated blood pressure in workers increased with age, years of occupational hazard exposure, and duration of dust exposure (all P<0.05). Workers exposed to noise for more than three years had a higher risk of elevated blood pressure than those without noise exposure (P<0.05). The risk of elevated blood pressure among workers in Nanhai, Shunde, and Gaoming districts was higher than that in Chancheng District (all P<0.01). Workers originating from Northeast and Northwest China had a higher risk of elevated blood pressure than those from North China (all P<0.05). Workers from smaller-scale enterprises had higher risk of elevated blood pressure (all P<0.01). Conclusion Targeted blood pressure health interventions in Foshan City should be strengthened for male manufacturing workers who are older, have longer working years, and originate from Northeast and Northwest China. The development of exemplary health enterprises should be promoted, particularly among micro- and small-sized enterprises and key industries. Enhanced occupational health management is especially needed for positions with high intensity noise exposure and high concentration dust exposure.

Hip fracture in the elderly is characterized by high incidence, high disability rate, and high mortality and has been recognized as a public health issue threatening their health. Surgery is the preferred choice for the treatment of elderly patients with hip fracture. However, lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) has an extremely high incidence rate during the perioperative period, and may significantly increase the risk of patients′ death once it progresses to pulmonary embolism. In response to this issue, the clinical guidelines and expert consensuses all emphasize active application of comprehensive preventive measures, including basic prevention, physical prevention, and pharmacological prevention. In this prevention system, basic prevention is the basis of physical and pharmacological prevention. However, there is a lack of unified and definite recommendations for basic preventive measures in clinical practice. To this end, the Orthopedic Nursing Professional Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association and Nursing Department of the Orthopedic Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care organized relevant nursing experts to formulate Expert consensus on perioperative basic prevention for lower extremity deep venous thrombosis in elderly patients with hip fracture ( version 2024) . A total of 10 recommendations were proposed, aiming to standardize the basic preventive measures for lower extremity DVT in elderly patients with hip fractures during the perioperative period and promote their subsequent rehabilitation.

Objective:To understand the identification value of pointing gestures in children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD) and its relationship with functional development. Methods:From December 2020 to November 2021, 1 099 children from Children’s Health Care Center of Beijing Children’s Hospital were tested by pointing gestures test, including 942 ASD children and 157 typical developed children. And the data of children's neuropsychological development scale from 800 children aged 1.0-5.9 were collected.SPSS 20.0 was used for statistical analysis. Trend test was used to analyze the distribution of pointing gestures test sensitivity in autistic children, and ANOVA was used to analyze the relationship between pointing gestures test scores and functional development fields. Results:The sensitivity of pointing gestures was 83.5% in children aged 1.0-10.0 years, 76.3%-93.1% in children aged 1.0-4.9 years, and 93.1%-95.1% in children aged 1.0-2.9.With the increase of age, the sensitivity of pointing gestures in autistic children (linear-by-linear association =164.889, P<0.001) and the Yoden index had a decreasing trend. The positive predictive value (91.53%-100.00%) and negative predictive value (75.36%-91.84%) were found in the children aged 1.0-10.0 years. The sensitivity of pointing gestures test was 44.9% in children with mild autism aged 1.0-10.0 years and 46.5%-65.9% in children with mild autism aged from 1.0-3.9 years. The sensitivity of pointing gestures test was 81.5% in children with moderate autism aged from 1.0-10.0 years and 87.3%-97.8% in children with moderate autism aged 1.0-3.9 years. The sensitivity of the pointing gestures test was 97.2% in children with severe autism aged 1.0-10.0 years, and 100.0% in children with severe autism aged 1.0-3.9 years. The sensitivity of the pointing gestures in mild, moderate and severe autism children decreased with age (linear-by-linear association values were 16.725, 64.232, 66.732 respectively, all P<0.001). The children with severe autism mainly scored 2 points (80.3%, 419/522) on the pointing gestures test , and children with moderate autism mainly scored 1 point(64.2%, 170/265) on the pointing gestures test. There were significant differences in functional development among different pointing gestures test groups.Functional development score in the autism children with 0 score of pointing gestures test was significantly higher than those with 1 score and 2 scores of pointing gestures test (all P<0.05). Conclusion:Pointing gestures has good sensitivity in children with autism (especially 1.0-4.9 years of age), and may serve as an objectively observable screening method. The better children with autism score on the pointing gestures, the better their functional development.
