Objective:This study aims to explore whether there are specific behavioral deficits of response inhibition and emotional processing in patients with checking obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and those with washing OCD.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2020 to December 2022, collecting clinical data from 75 OCD patients at the outpatient psychological consultation clinic of Xiangya Second Hospital and the clinical psychology department of Hunan Brain Hospital. The sample included 40 OCD patients with checking type (checking group, 24 males, 16 females, aged 14-34 years, mean age 22.1±5.0 years) and 35 OCD patients with washing type (washing group, 12 males, 23 females, aged 14-41 years, mean age 22.6±6.7 years). An age-matched healthy control group (control group) of 80 individuals (HCs, 37 males and 43 females, aged 14-25 years, mean age 20.8±1.9 years) was also recruited. All participants completed the Go/No-go task and Hariri task with behavioral data recorded. The Dimensional Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale was used to assess the severity of OCD symptoms. The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and State Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were used to assess the severity of depression and anxiety. A 3 (group: checking OCD, washing OCD and HC)×2 (task type: Go vs. No-go/Shape vs. Face) repeated-measures ANOVA was conducted to compare the behavioral performance across tasks. Results:Compared with HC group, both checking OCD group and washing OCD group had significantly higher scores in depression and anxiety ( F=85.43, 32.33,both P<0.05). When performing Go/No-go task, a significant group×task interaction effect was observed ( F3(2, 152)=3.23, P3=0.042, partialη32=0.04). In the checking OCD group, No-go accuracy was significantly lower than Go accuracy (accuracy=0.821 vs. 0.893, P<0.001); the checking OCD had significantly lower accuracy than HC in the No-go task (accuracy=0.821 vs. 0.876, P=0.005); there were no significant group differences between the washing OCD and HC in the No-go task ( P>0.05). When performing Hariri task, a significant group×task interaction effect was found ( F3(2, 152)=4.91, P3=0.009, partial η32=0.06). The washing OCD group showed significantly lower accuracy in matching emotional faces than the control group (0.879 vs. 0.936, P=0.001), whereas the checking OCD group showed no significant difference from the HC ( P>0.05); there were no significant group differences in shape matching task ( P>0.05). The accuracy of shape matching task was significantly higher than face matching task in the three groups (shape: checking OCD=0.936,washing OCD=0.929,HC=0.943; face:checking OCD=0.877,washing OCD=0.844,HC=0.917;all P>0.05). Conclusions:Checking OCD and washing OCD exhibit distinct behavioral impairment patterns in response inhibition and emotional processing. Checking-type OCD is primarily characterized by impaired response inhibition, whereas washing-type OCD is mainly associated with deficits in emotion processing.

Objective:To investigate the effect of short-term intensive insulin pump therapy on blood glucose control and renal function in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with diabetic kidney disease (DKD).Methods:The clinical data of 360 T2DM patients with DKD in Shanxi Bethune Hospital from January 2022 to October 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into an observation group ( n=192; treated with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion) and a control group ( n=168; treated with conventional hypoglycemic therapy) according to the different treatment modalities; subsequently, 103 pairs of patients entered final analysis by using the propensity score matching method. The differences in glycemic control and improvement of renal function were compared between these two groups. Results:Before the treatment, the blood glucose-, blood glucose fluctuation-, and kidney function-related indicators showed no significant differences between these two groups (all P>0.05). After the treatment, fasting blood glucose, two-hour postprandial blood glucose, and average blood glucose significantly decreased in both groups and were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (all P<0.05). In addition, the amplitude of postprandial blood glucose fluctuation, standard deviation of intraday multi-point blood glucose, and difference between the maximum and minimum intraday blood glucose values significantly declined after treatment and were also significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (all P<0.05). The observation group had a significantly higher total glycemic control rate and a significantly lowr incidence of hypoglycemia (both P<0.05). Finally, the 24-hour urine protein level, serum creatinine level, and urine albumin/creatinine ratio of the observation group significantly dropped after the treatment, and these results were significantly lower than those in the observation group (all P<0.05). Conclusions:Intensive insulin pump therapy benefits T2DM patients with DKD by improving glycemic control and enhancing renal function.

Objective:The purpose of this study is to explore the clinical characteristics of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and analyze the risk factors for adverse outcomes.Methods:2 052 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who were hospitalized in Shanxi Bethune Hospital between December 1, 2022 and March 20, 2023 were included. They were divided into diabetes group ( n=70) and non-diabetes group ( n=1 982) according to the presence or absence of comorbid T2DM. The two groups were matched at 1:1 via propensity score matching. Clinical characteristics and laboratory examination results of the two groups were compared. According to the outcomes during hospitalization, the two groups were further divided into two subgroups respectively. Univariate analysis and subsequent binary Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of adverse outcomes in patients with COVID-19 and type 2 diabetes. Results:After the propensity score matching, the most common comorbid condition in diabetes group and non-diabetes group was hypertension. The proportion of patients with severe or critical disease in diabetes group was higher compared with non-diabetes group. The levels of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood urea, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ and TNF-α were significantly higher in the diabetes group ( P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis within the diabetes group showed that hypertension ( OR=3.640, 95% CI: 3.156 to 4.290), FBG>11 mmol/L ( OR=3.283, 95% CI: 1.416 to 7.611), HbA1c>10% ( OR=2.718, 95% CI: 1.024 to 7.213) were independent risk factors for adverse outcomes in patients with COVID-19 and type 2 diabetes(all P<0.05). Conclusions:Compared with the non-diabetes group, patients with COVID-19 and T2DM have worse inflammatory response and higher levels of inflammatory cytokines. The elevated levels of FBG and HbA1c are related to the adverse outcome in patients with COVID-19 and T2DM.

Objective To develop an asymmetric porous guided bone regeneration(GBR)membrane made from antibacterial zinc oxide nanoparticle(nZnO)/poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxy butyrate)copolymer(P34HB),and detect its osteogenic performance. Methods Ultrasonic dispersion technique, solvent displacement method and freeze-drying technique were used to prepare P34HB composite GBR membrane loaded with nZnO at different doses(0%,0.5%,1.0%and 1.5%).Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy spectrometry(EDS)were conducted to determine the load of nZnO and observe the structure of the prepared membrane. Then MC3T3-E1 cells were implanted in a 24-well culture plate with the prepared GBR membrane pre-laid in the well. Thus the experiment included blank control group(no membrane)and groups with membranes composing 0%,0.5%,1.0%and 1.5%nZnO,respectively.CCK-8 and cell scratch assays were used to detect cell proliferation capacity and migration ability. The protein adsorption capacity of GBR membrane was detected by protein adsorption experiment. The in vitro degradation of GBR membrane was tested;the activity of alkaline phosphatase(ALP)was detected with chemical test. And calcified nodules were observed with alizzarin red staining;the antibacterial ability of GBR membranes was tested with in vitro antibacterial experiments. Results Four groups of nZnO/P34HB composite GBR membranes with 0%,0.5%,1.0%and 1.5%nZnO were successfully prepared.SEM results showed that the composite membrane was porous on one side and dense on the other side.EDS indicated the incorporation of zinc elements in the composite membrane. The results of cell proliferation assay showed that 0.5%and 1.0%nZnO/P34HB group promoted the proliferation of MC3T3-E1 cells, when compared with the blank control group and 0%and 1.5%nZnO/P34HB groups(P<0.05).The results of cell scratch assay showed that MC3T3-E1 cells in the 0.5%nZnO/P34HB group migrated significantly over the scratch edge, with the cell mobility higher than that of the other 3 membrane groups in 48 h after culture(P<0.01).Protein adsorption experiment displayed there was no significant difference in optical density of the 4 group of membrane, indicating that the addition of nZnO had no effect on the protein adsorption capacity of the material itself. The results of enzymatic experiment showed that though the quality of the 4 membranes was continuously decreased with elapse of time, the degradation rate was still relatively lower after 28 d of treatment.ALP staining and alizarin red staining displayed that the 0.5%nZnO/P34HB group obtained the strongest ALP activity and the largest amount of calcified nodules when compared with the other 3 groups(P<0.01).Higher mineralization was observed in the 0%and 0.5%nZnO/P 34 HB groups than the other 2 groups(P<0.01).The results of in vitro antibacterial experiments showed that the number of colonies in the 0.5%nZnO/P 34 HB group was significantly less than that in the blank control group and the 0%nZnO/P34HB group(P<0.01).Conclusion Our prepared P34HB composite GBR membrane loaded with nZnO is in asymmetric porous structure, and can promote cell proliferation, facilitate cell osteogenesis and have bacteriostatic ability.
