1.Investigation on the current status of blood safety surveillance and management in blood collection and supply institutions in Sichuan, China

Objective: Blood safety surveillance is a critical measure for the objective assessment of blood quality and enhancing transfusion safety. This study aims to comprehensively understand the current status of blood safety surveillance and management in blood collection and supply institutions in Sichuan Province, systematically analyze existing problems and vulnerabilities, and provide a basis for optimizing management strategies and improving capabilities to ensure blood safety. Methods: The Blood Safety Surveillance questionnaire was designed, covering adverse donor reaction reporting, management of adverse events, and transfusion adverse reaction feedback. An online survey was conducted via Questionnaire Star platform among 21 blood collection and supply institutions in the province, gathering information on management systems, process implementation, and utilization of monitoring data. The collected data were organized and statistically analyzed using Excel. Results: The questionnaire response rate and validity rate were both 100%. Blood collection and supply institutions in Sichuan Province have generally established a blood safety surveillance system and achieved positive outcomes. Regarding adverse events in blood collection and supply, 95.24% (20 institutions) have established reporting procedures, and 66.67% (14) collect information through multiple channels such as internal reports, external reports, and statistical trend feedback. A total of 90.48% (19) institutions regularly summarize and analyze adverse event data, and 85.71% (18) produce reports with improvement recommendations based on this analysis.71.43% (15) institutions implement reward and penalty measures, and 71.43% (15) report underreporting or omission due to accountability or performance concerns. In terms of monitoring adverse blood donation reactions, all blood collection and supply institutions have established full-process management systems.76.19% (16) collect data through multiple approaches, including on-site donation records, voluntary donor reports, and donor follow-ups. Adverse reactions were followed up in 95.24% (20) of institutions with 65% (13) completing follow-ups within 24 hours.80.95% (17) have established investigation procedures, while 66.67% (14) believe underreporting or omission still occurs. All blood collection and supply institutions regularly compile statistics on adverse donation reactions. Of these, 85.71% (18) institutions providing feedback to management departments and 90.48% (19) analyzing the data and making recommendations.76.19% (16) institutions use monitoring data for return donor management and targeted care, and 71.43% (15 stations) incorporate it into management reviews. Regarding adverse transfusion reactions, 95.24% (20) institutions have established and implemented procedures for isolating, recalling, and tracing of problematic blood units. However, only 42.86% (9) have established feedback mechanisms of adverse transfusion reaction with hospitals, and only 19.05% (4) support direct reporting via information systems.47.62% (10) institutions regularly analyze adverse transfusion reaction data, and 19.05% (4) provide feedback and recommendations to relevant hospitals. All blood collection and supply institutions reported challenges in collecting hospital feedback, citing complexities in data collection and reporting processes. Conclusion: Blood safety surveillance systems have been preliminarily established in Sichuan Province. However, further strengthening is still required, including conducting in-depth data analysis and utilization, standardizing the configuration of emergency medications and equipment, and improving feedback mechanisms for adverse transfusion reactions. To improve the overall level of blood safety management, it is recommended to strengthen closed-loop data management, improve feedback mechanisms between blood collection and supply institutions and hospitals, foster a non-punitive reporting culture, and systematically advance the regionalization and standardization of the monitoring system. These efforts will contribute to sustainably improving the overall effectiveness and sustainability of blood safety management.
2.Association between phthalate exposure and liver cancer risk based on epidemiology and network toxicology

Background Liver cancer is one of the common malignant tumors. Phthalates (PAEs), as a widely used class of plasticizers, can participate in the occurrence and progression of liver diseases through multiple pathways. Objective To explore the association between PAEs exposure and liver cancer risk and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention of environment-related tumor risk events. Methods Chi-square test and logistic regression were employed to analyze data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database between 2001 and 2018, to investigate the association between PAEs exposure and liver cancer. Network toxicology combined with machine learning was used to screen independent prognostic genes associated with PAEs and liver cancer, and to evaluate their correlations with tumor immunity, tumor pathway activation, and tumor drug resistance. 3.Interpretation of the TRIPOD-LLM reporting guideline for studies using large language models

As the volume of medical research using large language models (LLM) surges, the need for standardized and transparent reporting standards becomes increasingly critical. In January 2025, Nature Medicine published statement titled by TRIPOD-LLM reporting guideline for studies using large language models. This represents the first comprehensive reporting framework specifically tailored for studies that develop prediction models based on LLM. It comprises a checklist with 19 main items (encompassing 50 sub-items), a flowchart, and an abstract checklist (containing 12 items). This article provides an interpretation of TRIPOD-LLM’s development methods, primary content, scope, and the specific details of its items. The goal is to help researchers, clinicians, editors, and healthcare decision-makers to deeply understand and correctly apply TRIPOD-LLM, thereby improving the quality and transparency of LLM medical research reporting and promoting the standardized and ethical integration of LLM into healthcare.

This study explores the diagnosis and treatment of needle knife therapy for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) at middle and advanced stage based on the theory of meridian tendons, from a holistic perspective and syndrome differentiation. The treatment strategy includes "harmonizing yin and yang" to address root causes and "tendons-based release" to harmonize qi and blood, with the "tendons nodule points" as the core acupoint selection criterion. Based on this approach, the study systematically elaborates on two needle knife methods for AS: "governor vessel bone-piercing technique" and "below-the-umbilicus release technique", covering indications, acupoint location, and procedures. Clinical case examples are provided to enrich needle knife therapy guided by the theory of meridian tendons, offering insights for clinical and research work on AS.

5.Oral health-related quality of life status and risk factors in patients with mental disorders.

OBJECTIVES:
This study aims to explore the current status and risk factors of oral health-related quality of life OHRQoL in patients with mental disorders and provide evidence for effective intervention measures.
METHODS:
A total of 397 patients diagnosed with mental illness were selected by convenience sampling, and investigation was carried out using general data questionnaire, health literacy in dentistry-14 (HeLD-14), oral health impact profile-14 (OHIP-14), and oral health status checklist.
RESULTS:
The total score of OHIP-14 in patients with mental disorders was 8(2, 14). The score of HeLD-14 was negatively correlated with the score of OHIP-14 (r=-0.142, P<0.01). The results of multiple linear regression showed that six variables including annual family income, schizophrenia, sweets, frequency of visits to the dentist, dental caries, and missing teeth affected OHRQoL of patients with mental disorders (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
The poor OHRQoL of psychiatric patients is associated with many factors. Medical personnel should pay attention to their oral health problems and develop targeted oral care programs throughout the course of disease to improve oral health and related quality of life of patients.

6.Distribution of traditional Chinese medicine syndromes in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and its association with perinatal outcomes

ObjectiveTo investigate the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and its association with perinatal outcomes, and to provide a basis for precise treatment based on TCM syndrome differentiation. MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted among 275 patients with ICP who were admitted to The Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2023 to April 2025. A hierarchical cluster analysis was used to summarize TCM syndromes. The Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for comparison of non-normally distributed continuous data between groups, and the chi-square test was used for comparison of categorical data between groups. A multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the clinical features significantly associated with TCM syndrome. ResultsThe cluster analysis identified three core TCM syndromes among the 275 patients with ICP, i.e., liver-gallbladder damp-heat syndrome (45.8%), syndrome of blood deficiency generating wind (30.9%), and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome (23.3%). There was a significant difference in the distribution of TCM syndromes between different groups stratified by maternal age at delivery, parity, history of ICP recurrence, gestational weeks at disease onset, total bile acid (TBA), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and comorbidity with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) (all P<0.05). The multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that<34 gestational weeks at disease onset was significantly associated with all three syndromes (damp-heat: odds ratio [OR]=3.769, P<0.001; blood deficiency: OR=4.031, P<0.001; liver stagnation: OR=3.552, P<0.001). Liver-gallbladder damp-heat syndrome was associated with maternal age ≥35 years at disease onset (OR=2.048, P=0.014), parity ≥2 times (OR=1.921, P=0.034), history of ICP recurrence (OR=2.404, P=0.030), ALT ≥200 U/L (OR=2.051, P=0.018), comorbidity with GDM (OR=1.944, P=0.029), and TBA ≥40 μmol/L (OR=2.542, P=0.024). The syndrome of blood deficiency generating wind syndrome was associated with maternal age ≥35 years (OR=2.939, P=0.003), parity ≥2 time (OR=3.222, P=0.003), history of ICP recurrence (OR=3.809, P=0.010), ALT ≥200 U/L (OR=2.889, P=0.006), comorbidity with GDM (OR=3.711, P=0.001), and comorbidity with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (OR=4.472, P=0.011). Liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome was associated with TBA ≥40 μmol/L (OR=2.995, P=0.044). The analysis of perinatal outcomes showed that there were significant differences in mode of delivery, gestational weeks at the time of delivery, postpartum blood loss, and neonatal birth weight between the three groups with different TCM syndromes (all P<0.05). ConclusionLiver-gallbladder damp-heat syndrome, syndrome of blood deficiency generating wind, and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome are the main TCM syndrome types in ICP, and the distribution of TCM syndromes is closely associated with clinical factors and perinatal outcomes, which provides a basis for precise TCM syndrome differentiation and individualized treatment.
7.Study on the differences in BMI-oxygen saturation-sleep position-heart rate variability between OSA and non-OSA populations based on a network model

BackgroundIn recent years, the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is escalating in China, leading to a serious disease burden. However, previous studies on the influencing factors of OSA, such as obesity and sleep position, were mostly cross-sectional studies. This approach inherently hinders the identification of dynamic interaction mechanism among multiple variables, consequently obstructing the formulation of individualized intervention strategies. ObjectiveTo investigate the differences in body mass index (BMI)-oxygen saturation-sleep position-heart rate variability (HRV) network models between OSA and non-OSA populations, thereby offering a reference for the early detection and management of OSA. MethodsA total of 384 adult participants undergoing sleep monitoring at the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from July 12, 2022 to October 11, 2023 were included. Subjects were categorized into OSA group (n=203) and control group (n=181) based on an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) threshold of 5 events per hour. Subsequently, BMI-oxygen saturation-sleep position-HRV networks were constructed and compared between two groups. ResultsThere was no significant difference in the overall edge weight (P=0.55) and overall strength (P=0.28) of the network model between control group and OSA group. Notable differences emerged in both the node connection strength (e.g., minimum oxygen saturation with BMI, sleep in prone position, and mean RR interval) and node centrality indices (mean oxygen saturation, minimum oxygen saturation, AHI in upright position, AHI in right lateral position and mean heart rate) within the two network models (P<0.05). ConclusionSignificant differences are observed between the non-OSA and OSA populations in specific factors, including sleep position, heart rate and oxygen saturation.

Abstract
In recent years, the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents has risen rapidly, posing a serious threat to their physical and mental health. To provide scientific, systematic, and standardized weight management guidance for overweight and obese children and adolescents, the study focuses on the core concept of healthy lifestyle intervention, integrates multidisciplinary expert opinions and research findings,and proposes a comprehensive multidisciplinary intervention framework covering scientific exercise intervention, precise nutrition and diet, optimized sleep management, and standardized psychological support. It calls for the establishment of a multi agent collaborative management mechanism led by the government, implemented by families, fostered by schools, initiated by individuals, optimized by communities, reinforced by healthcare, and coordinated by multiple stakeholders. Emphasizing a child and adolescent centered approach, the consensus advocates for comprehensive, multi level, and personalized guidance strategies to promote the internalization and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. It serves as a reference and provides recommendations for the effective prevention and control of overweight and obesity, and enhancing the health level of children and adolescents.
9.Research progress of mitophagy in asthma

Abstract
Asthma is a well-characterized heterogeneous disease marked by airway remodeling and chronic airway inflammation. Clinically, the treatment of asthma primarily relies on hormonal drugs. However, the long-term use of these medications can lead to significant side effects. Mitophagy is a biological process that selectively transports damaged mitochondria to lysosomes for degradation. Recent research has revealed the crosstalk between mitophagy and asthma. Accordingly, taking mitophagy as an entry point, summarizing the key molecular mechanisms and regulators of mitophagy in asthma will facilitate the development of novel intervention targets and strategies for asthmatic treatment.
10.Olverembatinib in treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia with D241E mutation progressed to acute lymphoblastic leukemia: report of 1 case and review of literature

Objective:To explore the efficacy and safety of olverembatinib in treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) progressed to acute lymphoblastic leukemia with D241E mutation.Methods:The diagnosis and treatment of a patient with D241E mutant CML progressed to acute lymphoblastic leukemia admitted to the Fourth People's Hospital of Jinan in December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed, and relevant literature was reviewed.Results:The patient was a 47-year-old female, and her blood test result was abnormal during physical examination. She was diagnosed as CML and received treatment with imatinib and dasatinib for 2 years. The disease progressed to philadelphia chromosome (Ph)-positive acute B-lymphoblastic leukemia with BCR-ABL mutation (a D241E mutation). After 3 courses of chemotherapy combined with a targeted drug (ponatinib), the patient achieved complete remission, while the minimal residual disease continued to be positive. The patient received 1 course of chemotherapy combined with olverembatinib from the 4th course of treatment. After olverembatinib monotherapy maintenance therapy for 36 months, the patient achieved molecular complete remission with minimal residual disease. The patient developed complications such as skin pigmentation and elevated lipid levels, but all complications were tolerable.Conclusions:The application of olverembatinib in D241E mutant CML progressed to acute lymphoblastic leukemia can help patients obtain sustained molecular biological remission and good safety.
