Based on the characteristics of dormant cancer cells， which are "latency" and "opportunistic activation"， this paper classifies them within the scope of "latent pathogen" in traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）. It explores the mechanisms of formation， activation， and elimination of dormant cancer cells based on the latent pathogen theory. It is proposed that qi deficiency is the fundamental internal cause for the formation and growth of dormant cancer cells， qi stagnation is the inducing factor for their activation， and qi restoration presents an opportunity for their elimination. Guided by the latent pathogen theory， the TCM strategy for inhibiting dormant cancer cells includes two aspects. On one hand， methods such as strengthening the root， securing defensive qi， and lifting and supporting the body's upright qi are used to reinforce healthy qi and prevent the latency and accumulation of dormant cancer cells. On the other hand， regulating liver qi and warming yang to promote qi transformation are employed to ensure smooth qi movement， thereby inhibiting the activation of dormant cancer cells and disrupting their survival environment.

Objective:To analyze the pangenome, pan drug resistance genes, pan virulence genes, pan replicons, and others of the plasmids carried by hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKP) in the world and their evolutionary trends over time, and provide evidence for more comprehensive understanding of the evolution of genetic diversity, drug resistance genes, and virulence genes of the plasmids. Methods:From the National Center for Biotechnology Information database, a total 1 738 plasmids were screened from 524 strains with completed genome sequences in 2 136 strains of hvKP carrying plasmids. Through pangenome, pan drug resistance gene, and pan-virulence gene composition and functional analyses, the curves of pangenome size and new gene size against plasmid isolation time were established, revealing the diversity of the plasmid pangenome and its evolutionary patterns.Results:The homologous genes, homologous drug resistance genes, homologous virulence genes, and replicons of the plasmids carried by hvKP comprised of 12 906, 149, 107 and 89 types, respectively. The fitting curves for the number of new genes, new drug resistance genes and new replicons increased with the increase of plasmids in an open state, while the curve for novel virulence genes was in a closed state. A obvious increase in new drug resistance genes was observed during 2018-2019. Among the newly added drug resistance genes during 2021-2023, beside those conferring aminoglycoside resistance, they were mainly new subtypes conferring carbapenem resistance.Conclusions:The pangenome of plasmids carried by hvKP exhibited high diversity, with the plasmid pan genes, pan drug resistance genes, and pan replicon types gradually expanding, while the pan virulence genes remains stable. The increase in novel drug resistance genes in specific years and the emergence of new carbapenem-resistant gene subtypes during 2021-2023 suggested the need for strengthened drug resistance surveillance and prevention efforts, with particular attention to carbapenem resistance.

It is believed that the occurrence and development of squamous cell carcinoma （SCC） is closely associated with inflammatory responses. The theory of fire and heat， advocated by LIU Wansu， provides significant clinical guidance for understanding the pathogenesis and treatment of SCC. Based on this theory， the pathological mechanisms and clinical characteristics of SCC at different stages were analyzed. In the precancerous and early stages， the primary pathogenesis is qi stagnation leading to internal generation of constrained heat； in post-surgery， the condition shifts to qi deficiency with latent yin fire； during the treatment phase， the pathogenesis involves accumulation of pathogenic factors， excess toxins， and severe heat toxicity； in the late stage， the main pathology is yin deficiency with toxic heat， and phlegm-stasis obstruction of the internal organs. Corresponding stage-based treatment strategies are proposed. In the early stage， regulating qi movement to dissipate constrained heat； for post-surgery， tonifying qi and raising yang to dispel latent fire； during treatment stage， clearing heat and detoxifying to eliminate cancerous toxins； and in the late stage， nourishing yin and unblocking the bowels to clear deficiency heat.

In modern society, people are increasingly exposed to chronic stress, leading to various mental disorders. However, the activities of brain regions, especially neural firing patterns related to specific behaviors, remain unclear. In this study, we introduce a novel approach, NeuroSync, which integrates open-field behavioral testing with electrophysiological recordings from emotion-related brain regions, specifically the central amygdala and the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus, to explore the mechanisms of negative emotions induced by chronic stress in mice. By applying machine vision techniques, we quantified behaviors in the open field, and signal processing algorithms elucidated the neural underpinnings of the observed behaviors. Synchronizing behavioral and electrophysiological data revealed significant correlations between neural firing patterns and stress-related behaviors, providing insights into real-time brain activity underlying behavioral responses. This research combines deep learning and machine learning to synchronize high-resolution video and electrophysiological data, offering new insights into neural-behavioral dynamics under chronic stress conditions.

Objective To analyze the urban drinking water quality and its influencing factors in Anhui Province from 2014 to 2022, and to provide a scientific basis for water quality improvement and protection. Methods The data were collected, saved and monitored according to the Standard Test Method for Drinking Water (GB/T5750-2006) and evaluated according to the Hygienic Standard for Drinking Water (GB 5749-2006). Results A total of 20 941 samples were collected, and the overall qualified rate was 84.26%. The qualified rate of urban drinking water increased from 76.9% in 2014 to 93.3% in 2022, and the qualified rate of water quality was on the rise (χ²=544.43, P＜0.01). From 2014 to 2022, the qualified rate of water quality in dry season was higher than that in wet season (χ²=35.98, P<0.001), the qualified rate of surface water was higher than that of ground water (χ²=4440.8, P<0.001), and the qualified rate of peripheral tap water was higher than that of factory water (χ²=145.1, P<0.001). Among all kinds of disinfection methods, chlorination disinfection had the highest qualified rate (χ²=1483.8, P<0.001). The qualified rate of water quality increased with the increase of the scale of water plant. Among the inspected indicators, the main unqualified indicators were chlorine dioxide (7.72%), fluoride (7.41%), free residual chlorine (3.90%), and total bacterial count (2.13%). Conclusion The passing rate of urban drinking water quality in Anhui Province is on an upward trend, and the quality of urban drinking water has improved. However, it is still important to pay attention to the problem of excessive microorganism and fluoride in water, and the quality of drinking water varies from place to place.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) presents with a diverse range of symptoms that can affect the skin, bones, eyes, central nervous system, and other organs. This article reports the diagnosis and treatment process of a patient with NF1 complicated by bilateral severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss. Genetic testing revealed a heterozygous variant of NF1 NM_ 000267.3: c.4054_ 4058del(p.Ser1352LeufsTer20, supporting the diagnosis of NF1. After thorough evaluation, a right cochlear implantation was performed, yielding satisfactory postoperative results. This case suggests that NF1 patients may exhibit phenotypic heterogeneity and atypicality, providing a reference for clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of such patients.

Objective:To systematically evaluate and integrate qualitative studies on the disease experience and demands of psoriasis, and to provide reference for improving patients′ disease experience and formulating targeted nursing intervention strategies.Methods:Web of science, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang database, Weipu database and China Biology Medicine Disc were searched by computer from their inception to May 31, 2024 for the qualitative studies on experience of psoriasis patient experience. The literature quality was appraised by the evaluation criteria of the Evidence Based Healthcare Center at the Joanna Briggs Institute for qualitative research. Findings of included studies were synthesized using Meta-aggregation.Results:A total of 13 articles were included, and 48 research results were extracted, which were further formed into 9 categories, and finally summarized into the following 3 integrated results: disease infects life, and physical and mental difficulties were intertwined; response strategies varied, affecting disease outcome; multiple needs were not yet met, and multi-level support systems were urgently neededConclusions:Psoriasis patients suffer from the burden of symptoms and psychological pressure, medical personnel should pay attention to patients′ inner experience and nursing needs, provide multi-dimensional support to reduce disease distress, improve patients′ disease management level, and improve quality of life.

Objective:To systematically review the qualitative studies on the experience of self-empowerment in cancer patients, and provide evidence for better cancer care centered on patients.Methods:Computer searches were conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and VIP, China Biomedical Literature Database for qualitative studies on the experience of self-empowerment in cancer patients from database inception to April 2, 2024. The quality of the literature was evaluated according to the Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence-Based Practice Unit's quality assessment criteria for qualitative studies. Meta-synthesis was conducted using a centralized integration method.Results:Five studies were included, yielding 17 research findings, which were categorized into 16 categories and 4 synthesis results: cancer patients′ cognition of self-empowerment; barriers to self-empowerment; diversity of self-empowerment strategies; and the role of external support.Conclusions:Cancer patients recognize the value of self-empowerment, but there are multiple factors that hinder patients from self-empowering. Healthcare providers should understand the self-empowerment needs of patients and provide evidence-based care centered on patients to promote better health outcomes for patients.

Objective:To systematically evaluate the qualitative studies on nurses' knowledge and practice experience of grief counseling, providing a reference for the implementation and development of grief counseling.Methods:Computer-based searches were conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Data, VIP, and China Biology Medicine disc for qualitative studies on nurses' knowledge and practice experience of grief counseling, with the search limited to articles published until January 5, 2024. The quality of the literature was assessed using the quality evaluation criteria of the Evidence-Based Health Care Center of the Joanna Briggs Institute, Australia. A pooled integration approach was used to integrate the literature.Results:A total of seven studies were included, yielding 26 research findings, which were categorized into 10 categories, further integrated into four synthesis results, namely, nurses' perceptions of grief counseling, barriers to the implementation of grief counseling by nurses, strategies to promote nurses' implementation of grief counseling, and nurses' emotional experiences.Conclusions:The implementation of grief counseling faces challenges. Healthcare managers should understand nurses' knowledge and practice experience of grief counseling, provide relevant training, and strengthen organizational support to promote the practice and development of grief counseling.
