OBJECTIVE To provide a scientific basis for the quality evaluation and clinical application of Qingwen hufei granules. METHODS Fourteen batches of Qingwen hufei granules were used as samples to establish high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprints using the Similarity Evaluation System for Chromatographic Fingerprint of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2012 Edition). The chromatographic peaks were identified and the similarity was evaluated. Cluster analysis (CA), principal component analysis (PCA), and orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) were used to conduct chemical pattern recognition analysis on the 14 batches of samples. Meanwhile, the contents of neochlorogenic acid (NGA), chlorogenic acid (CHA), cryptochlorogenic acid (CGA), forsythoside A (FTA), 3,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid (3,5-O- DA), 4,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid (4,5-O-DA), and angoroside C (AGC) in the samples were determined by HPLC. RESULTS The methodological investigation results of both the fingerprint and the content determination complied with the relevant requirements. Fourteen common peaks were indicated in the HPLC fingerprints of the 14 batches of samples, and 7 of them were identified [NGA (peak 2), CHA (peak 3), CGA (peak 5), FTA (peak 11), 3,5-O-DA (peak 12), 4,5-O-DA (peak 13), and AGC (peak 14)]; the similarity of each sample was greater than 0.94. The results of CA and PCA showed that the samples could be classified into 3 categories; the results of OPLS-DA indicated that peak 4 (unknown), peak 11 (FTA), peak 8 (unknown), peak 9 (unknown), and peak 1 (unknown) were the differential components. The content ranges of NGA, CHA, CGA, 3,5-O-DA, FTA, 4,5-O-DA and AGC in the 14 batches of samples were 0.210 4-0.458 7, 0.269 1-0.506 3, 0.228 1-0.461 1, 0.443 9-1.044 6, 0.066 7-0.155 7, 0.062 8-0.143 8, and 0.057 4-0.105 7 mg/g, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The HPLC fingerprint and multi-component content determination methods established in this study are efficient and reliable, and can be used for the quality evaluation of Qingwen hufei granules.

ObjectiveTo delineate imaging findings using an imaging platform and investigate the correlation between MRI characteristics of spinal cord atrophy and clinical diagnosis in children with spinal cord injury (SCI). MethodsImaging data of 150 children with SCI admitted to Beijing Bo'ai Hospital, China Rehabilitation Research Center, from January, 2002 to March, 2024 were collected and imported into the imaging platform. The anteroposterior and transverse diameters of the middle part of the spinal cord at the cross-section with the most severe atrophy were measured, and the relevant indicators of the previous normal spinal cord segment were measured as controls; the radiomic features were extracted. Clinical data of the children including gender, age, cause of injury, sensory level, motor level, spinal cord injury level, injury severity and disease course were collected. ResultsSpinal cord atrophy was identified in 81 cases (54%), among which 78 cases (96%) were American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale (AIS) grade A and 3 cases (4%) were AIS grade C. The upper boundary of the spinal cord atrophy site strongly correlated with the injury level, motor level and sensory level (r > 0.8, P < 0.001). ConclusionMore than half of children with SCI may develop secondary spinal cord atrophy, the vast majority of whom suffer from complete spinal cord injury; the upper boundary of spinal cord atrophy is correlated with the injury level.

This paper outlines the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) research, and elucidates the roles and advantages of large language models, knowledge graphs, and natural language processing in advancing syndrome identification, prescription generation, and mechanism exploration. Using spleen-stomach diseases as an example, it demonstrates the empowering effects of AI in classical literature mining, precise clinical syndrome differentiation, efficacy and safety prediction, and intelligent education, highlighting an upgraded research paradigm that evolves from data-driven and knowledge-driven approaches to intelligence-driven models. To address challenges related to privacy protection and regulatory compliance in cross-institutional data collaboration, a "trusted federated evidence-based analysis platform for TCM spleen-stomach diseases" is proposed, integrating blockchain-based smart contracts, federated learning, and secure multi-party computation. The deep integration of AI with privacy-preserving computing is reshaping research and clinical practice in TCM spleen-stomach diseases, providing feasible pathways and a technical framework for building a high-quality, trustworthy TCM big-data ecosystem and achieving precision syndrome differentiation.
5.Correlation of childhood trauma and leisure activities with psychological distress among upper grade elemetary school students
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(1):70-74
Objective:
To understand the impact of childhood trauma on psychological distress among upper grade elemetary school students, and to explore the mediating role of leisure activities in the relationship, so as to provide a basis for developing mental health intervention strategies.
Methods:
From August to November 2024, a combination of convenience sampling and stratified cluster random sampling was employed to recruit 1 373 fourth to sixth grade students from four primary schools in Harbin. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire(CTQ), a self designed leisure activity scale (including active and passive leisure activities), and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) were used to assess childhood trauma experiences, leisure activities, and levels of psychological distress. Spearman correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were conducted to explore the relationships among childhood trauma, leisure types, leisure time, and psychological distress. Based on the mediation analysis framework proposed by Hayes (Model 4), the mediating role of leisure types in the relationship between childhood trauma and psychological distress was examined.
Results:
Totally 19.1% of the upper elemetary school students exhibited psychological distress, while 30.2% had experienced childhood trauma. During school days, 64.6% of the students were reported of having leisure time concentrated between 1 and 5 hours per day, whereas 67.4% reported leisure time exceeding 5 hours per day on weekends. After controlling for potential demographic confounders such as gender, grade, ethnicity, household registration, being an only child, parents educational level, co residence, and whether parents are first time married, linear regression analysis showed that childhood trauma experience had positive predictive effect on psychological distress in upper primary school students( β =0.20, P <0.01). Leisure time showed no statistically significant association with psychological distress, both on school days ( β =-0.58 to -0.56) and weekends ( β =0.26- 0.98 )(all P >0.05). Active leisure activities were negatively associated with psychological distress ( β =-0.20), while passive leisure activities were positively associated with psychological distress ( β =0.29)(both P <0.01). Leisure type partially mediated the relationship between childhood trauma and psychological distress, accounting for 11.7% of the indirect effect.
Conclusion
Childhood trauma experiences positively predict psychological distress in upper elementary school students, and affect psychological distress through active leisure and passive leisure.

Kidney transplantation is widely recognized as the optimal treatment for children with end-stage renal disease(ESRD),offering significant improvements in growth, development, and long-term quality of life compared with prolonged dialysis. However, kidney transplantation in low-age(<5 years old)and low-weight(<15 kg)children presents significant clinical challenges due to their delicate vas-cular structures, limited surgical space, and complex perioperative management. This report presents two cases of kidney transplantation in low-age,low-weight children performed at Peking University People's Hospital.Case 1:a 2-year-3-month-old boy(8.8 kg),presenting a preoperative serum creatinine of 248μmol/L post-dialysis and the estimated glomerular filtration rates(eGFR)of 35.17 mL/(min·1.73 m2).Case 2:a 3-year-8-month-old girl(11.25 kg),presenting a preoperative creatinine of 281 μmol/L post-dialysis and the eGFR of 22.63 mL/(min·1.73 m2).Both recipients underwent transplantation via the extraperitoneal approach, with end-to-side anastomosis of the donor renal artery and vein to the recipient's common iliac artery and vein, respectively. The ureters were anastomosed to the bladder using the tunnel technique, and double-J stents were placed intraoperatively. The surgeries were uneventful, and both pa-tients exhibited rapid recovery of renal function.Postoperatively, serum creatinine levels decreased to 26μmol/L(Case 1)and 39 μmol/L(Case 2)by the third day, with the eGFR reaching 245.23 mL/(min·1.73 m2)and 164.12 mL/(min·1.73 m2),respectively.No complications, such as vascular thrombosis, ureteral stenosis,or abdominal compartment syndrome were observed during follow-up.A comprehensive literature review was conducted to contextualize these cases within global advancements in pediatric renal transplantation.Current evidence highlights the growing adoption of kidney transplantation for low-age,low-weight children, though debates persist regarding optimal surgical strategies(specifical-ly,the intraperitoneal versus extraperitoneal approaches). This case report underscores the feasibility of the extraperitoneal approach in overcoming anatomical limitations of low-weight pediatric recipients, with distinct advantages including reduced gastrointestinal complications and enhanced accessibility for post-operative ultrasound monitoring.Furthermore, mean arterial pressure(MAP)and central venous pressure(C VP)were systematically monitored intraoperatively to ensure optimal renal blood perfusion and graft viability. Our single-center experience provides valuable insights into surgical strategy selection and peri-operative management for this high-risk population.Nevertheless, larger multicenter studies are warranted to validate long-term outcomes and refine standardized protocols.

Objective:To analyze the characteristics of adverse reactions of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), and provide a basis for the rational clinical application. Methods:The adverse drug reaction (ADR) cases of SGLT2i reported by Beijing from January 1, 2019 to June 30, 2024 were collected through searching the National Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring System of China. The Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA) terminology set was used to standardize the description of ADR, and the involving system organ class (SOC) and preferred term (PT) was extracted. Data of ADR were analyzed descriptively and statistically. Results:A total of 409 SGLT2i-related adverse reaction reports involving 409 patients were included. Among these patients, there were 232 females and 177 males; the median age was 62(52, 70) years, and 231 cases (56.48%) were under the age of 65 years; 5 types of SGLT2i (dapagliflozin, empagliflozin, canagliflozin, ertugliflozin, and henagliflozin proline) were involved, and reports of dapagliflozin was the most (279 cases, 68.22%). The primary indication for medication was diabetes (404 cases, 98.78%). The majority of ADRs did not reach the severe level (395 cases, 96.58%). The 14 cases (3.42%) of severe ADR were primarily about diabetic ketoacidosis (11 cases, 11/14), of which 7 cases presented with normal blood glucose levels and 5 cases occurred after medical stress events. The outcomes of patients were improvement in 241 cases (58.92%) and recovery in 127 cases (31.05%). In total, 476 ADR occurrences were recorded among the 409 patients, involving 82 PTs, 24 of which were not listed in the drug labels. The top 2 SOCs were the infections and infestations [26.26% (125/476)] and renal and urinary disorders [13.87% (66/476)]; the top 3 PTs were urinary tract infection [23.32% (111/476)], urinary ketone detection [6.51% (31/476)], and vulvovaginal pruritus [5.88% (28/476)]; the top 3 newly identified possible ADRs (PTs) were dizziness [2.31% (11/476)], palpitations [1.89% (9/476)], and decreased appetite [1.05% (5/476)].Conclusions:Based on the ADR monitoring data in Beijing in the past 5 and a half years, SGLT2i-associated adverse reactions primarily involved the infections and infestations, and renal and urinary disorders. ADRs identified in the study such as dizziness and palpitations are not documented in the drug labels, euglycaemic ketoacidosis accounts for a high proportion of severe reactions, and most of them occur after acute stress events.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2025;43(8):704-712
Objective:To prepare aldolylated hyaluronic acid-modified antimicrobial carbon dots (AHA-CDs) eye drops and evaluate its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus in vitro and in vivo. Methods:AHA-CDs eye drops were synthesized by modifying small particle size positively charged carbon dots and introducing aldehyde-based hyaluronic acid. The AHA-CDs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The antibacterial activity of AHA-CDs against Staphylococcus aureus was evaluated using the microdilution method, plate counting, and live-dead bacteria fluorescence staining in vitro. The mouse bacterial keratitis model was established by removing the corneal epithelium after ring drilling and inoculating Staphylococcus aureus.Eighteen conventional female C57BL/6 mice aged 6-8 weeks were selected and divided into a blank control group, an AHA-CDs-treated group and a tobramycin-treated group of 6 mice each using random number table method, and the mice were treated with phosphate buffer saline, 80 μg/ml AHA-CDs, and 80 μg/ml tobramycin eye drops three times daily for 5 consecutive days accordingly to assess antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus in vivo.Another 12 mice were divided into an AHA-CDs group and a normal control group using the random number table method, with 6 mice in each group, which were treated with 80 μg/ml AHA-CDs and phosphate buffer saline for 7 days. The mice were then sacrificed.Their eyeballs were removed and stained with hematoxylin-eosin to observe and compare the morphology and integrity of the eyeballs between the two groups to evaluate the treatment's biosafety. The use and care of the animals complied with the principles of the ARRIVE guidelines. The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Experimental Animal Care of Henan Eye Hospital (No.HNEECA-2022-17). Results:The successful preparation of AHA-CDs was demonstrated by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In vitro studies showed that the minimum inhibitory concentration of AHA-CDs against Staphylococcus aureus was approximately 8 μg/ml, which effectively inhibited bacterial growth at a lower concentration.Plate counting results showed that only 20% of the bacteria survived after 10 minutes of treatment with AHA-CDs.Fluorescence staining of live/dead bacteria showed obvious red fluorescence signals after 4 hours of treatment with AHA-CDs and SP-CDs. In vivo studies showed that, after 5 days of treatment with AHA-CDs eye drops, the corneas of mice with bacterial keratitis were obviously transparent, and the corneal epithelium was basically repaired. In contrast, the tobramycin-treated group exhibited incomplete epithelial repair and mild corneal edema. In vivo safety evaluation revealed that the eye tissue morphology remained intact and no structural abnormalities were observed after AHA-CDs treatment. Conclusions:AHA-CDs eye drops have superior antibacterial effects in vivo and in vitro, and inactivate bacteria rapidly and effectively.
