Objective To investigate the characteristics of lens diameter in different axial positions and their rela-tionship with ocular biometric parameters using swept-source optical coherence tomography.Methods A total of 180 pa-tients(180 eyes)with age-related cataract who were scheduled for phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens im-plantation from July to December 2023 were included,and the operated eyes were used as the observation eyes.The lens diameter data of patients were obtained by scanning at 16 axial positions using the swept-source optical coherence tomo-graphy device CASIA2.The patients were divided into three groups according to the scanning axial positions of the maxi-mum and minimum lens diameters:horizontal group,oblique group,and vertical group.The distribution differences of the maximum and minimum lens diameters among the three groups were compared.Ocular biometric parameters,including ax-ial length(AL),white-to-white distance,anterior chamber depth(ACD),and lens thickness(LT),were measured using the IOL Master 700.Correlation analysis was used to assess the relationship between lens diameter and age,ocular biomet-ric parameters.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the impact of age and ocular biometric parameters on lens diameter.Results The maximum lens diameter[10.13(9.20,10.80)mm]was significantly larger than the min-imum lens diameter[9.26(8.21,9.91)mm],with a statistically significant difference(Z=-7.387,P＜0.001).There were no statistically significant differences in the maximum and minimum lens diameters among the three groups(H=1.575,P=0.455;H=0.927,P=0.629).The distribution difference of the maximum lens diameters between the oblique group and the horizontal group was statistically significant(x2=6.035,P=0.014);differences in other group comparisons were not statistically significant(all P＞0.022).The proportion of the maximum lens diameter occurring in the oblique group(55.2％)was significantly higher than that in the horizontal group(38.0％).The maximum lens diameter was more commonly found in the oblique group.The lens diameter was positively correlated with age and LT(rs=0.217,P＜0.05;rs=0.538,P＜0.001),and negatively correlated with ACD(rs=-0.379,P＜0.001).Comparison of standardized regres-sion coefficients(β')showed that LT had the greatest impact on lens diameter,followed by AL;both LT and AL had a sig-nificant positive impact on lens diameter(β'=0.483,P＜0.001;β'=0.314,P＜0.001).Conclusion The distribution frequency of the maximum lens diameter in the oblique group(30°-60° and 120°-150°)was significantly higher than that in the horizontal group.There was a positive correlation between lens diameter and age and LT,and a negative correlation between lens diameter and ACD.Among all the factors affecting lens diameter,LT and AL are the most critical factors,with LT having a more significant impact on lens diameter than AL.

Objective:To explore the role of NK cells in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell micro-transplantation(MST)in the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukemia(AML).Methods:Data from 93 AML patients treated with MST at our center from 2013-2018 were retrospectively analyzed.The induction regimen was anthracycline and cytarabine combined with peripheral blood stem cells transplantation mobilization by granulocyte colony stimulating factor(GPBSC),followed by 2-4 courses of intensive treatment with medium to high doses of cytarabine combined with GPBSC after achieving complete remission(CR).The therapeutic effects of one and two courses of MST induction therapy on 42 patients who did not reach CR before transplantation were evaluated.Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to analyze the impact of donor NK cell dose and KIR genotype,including KIR ligand mismatch,2DS1,haplotype,and HLA-Cw ligands on survival prognosis of patients.Results:Forty-two patients received MST induction therapy,and the CR rate was 57.1％after 1 course and 73.7％after 2 courses.Multivariate analysis showed that,medium and high doses of NK cells was significantly associated with improved disease-free survival(DFS)of patients(HR=0.27,P=0.005;HR=0.21,P=0.001),and high doses of NK cells was significantly associated with improved overall survival(OS)of patients(HR=0.15,P=0.000).Donor 2DS1 positive significantly increases OS of patients(HR=0.25,P=0.011).For high-risk patients under 60 years old,patients of the donor-recipient KIR ligand mismatch group had longer DFS compared to the nonmismatch group(P=0.036);donor 2DS1 positive significantly prolonged OS of patients(P=0.009).Conclusion:NK cell dose,KIR ligand mismatch and 2DS1 influence the therapeutic effect of MST,improve the survival of AML patients.

OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively analyze the efficacy and complications of our institution's modified nonmyeloablative allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (NST) in treating intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) - first complete remission (CR1) and prognostic factors. METHODS: Clinical data of 50 intermediate-risk AML-CR1 patients who underwent matched related NST at the Fifth Medical Center of Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital from August 2004 to April 2021 were collected, the hematopoietic recovery, donor engraftment and complications were observed, and overall survival (OS) rate, leukemia-free survival (LFS) rate, treatment-related mortality (TRM), and cumulative relapse rate were calculated. Statistical analysis of factors affecting prognosis was also preformed. RESULTS: The median times for neutrophil and platelet recovery after transplantation were 10 (6-16) and 13 (6-33) days, respectively. One month after transplantation, 22 patients (44%) achieved full donor chimerism (FDC), and 22 patients (44%) achieved mixed chimerism (MC), among whom 18 cases gradually transited to FDC during 1-11 months, 4 cases maintained MC status. The overall incidence of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) was 36%, with a rate of 18% for grade II-IV aGVHD and a median onset time of 45 (20-70) days after transplantation. The overall incidence of chronic GVHD (cGVHD) was 34%, with 20% and 14% of patients having limited or extensive cGVHD, respectively. The incidence rates of infections, interstitial pneumonia, and hemorrhagic cystitis were 30%, 10%, and 16%, respectively. The 5-year OS rate, LFS rate, TRM, and cumulative relapse rate were 68%, 64%, 16%, and 20%, respectively. The increase of the number of CD34⁺ cells infused had shortened the recovery time for neutrophils and platelets (r =0.563, r =0.350). The number of CD34⁺ cells infused significantly influenced the occurrence of extensive cGVHD (OR =1.36, 95%CI : 1.06-1.84, P =0.024). CONCLUSION Modified NST is effective in treating intermediate-risk AML-CR1 patients, however, further expansion of sample size is needed to study prognostic factors.

Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of female patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection. Methods: This is a single-centre retrospective study. Consecutive patients diagnosed with Stanford type B aortic dissection in General Hospital of Northern Theater Command from June 2002 to August 2021 were enrolled, and grouped based on sex. According to the general clinical conditions and complications of aortic dissection tear, patients were treated with thoracic endovascular aortic repair, surgery, or optimal medication. The clinical characteristics and aortic imaging data of the patients at different stages were collected, adverse events including all-cause deaths, stroke, and occurrence of aortic-related adverse events were obtained during hospitalization and within 30 days and at 1 and 5 years after discharge. According to the time of death, death was classified as in-hospital death, out-of-hospital death, and in-hospital death was divided into preoperative death, intraoperative death and postoperative death. According to the cause of death, death was classified as aortic death, cardiac death and other causes of death. Aortic-related adverse events within 30 days after discharge included new paraplegia, post-luminal repair syndrome, and aortic death; long-term (≥1 year after discharge) aortic-related adverse events included aortic death, recurrent aortic dissection, endoleak and distal ulcer events. The clinical characteristics, short-term and long-term prognosis was compared between the groups. Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the association between different clinical factors and all-cause mortality within 30 days in female and male groups separately. Results: A total of 1 094 patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection were enrolled, mean age was (53.9±12.1) years, and 861 (78.7%) were male and 233 (21.3%) were female. (1) Clinical characteristics: compared with male patients, female patients were featured with older average age, higher proportion of aged≥60 years old, back pain, anemia, optimal medication treatment, and higher cholesterol level; while lower proportion of smoking and drinking history, body mass index, calcium antagonists use, creatine kinase level, and white blood cell count (all P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in dissection tear and clinical stage, history of coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, and cerebrovascular disease between female and male patients (all P>0.05). (2) Follow-up result: compared with male patients, female patients had a higher rate of 30-day death [6.9% (16/233) vs. 3.8% (33/861), P=0.047], in-hospital death (5.6% (13/233) vs. 2.7% (23/861), P=0.027), preoperative death (3.9% (9/233) vs. 1.5% (12/861), P=0.023) and aorta death (6.0% (14/233) vs. 3.1% (27/861), P=0.041). The 1-year and 5-year follow-up results demonstrated that there were no significant differences in death, cerebrovascular disease, and aorta-related adverse events between the two groups (all P>0.05). (3) Prognostic factors: the results of the univariate logistic regression analysis showed that body mass index>24 kg/m² (HR=1.087, 95%CI 1.029-1.149, P=0.013), history of anemia (HR=2.987, 95%CI 1.054-8.468, P=0.032), hypertension (HR=1.094, 95%CI 1.047-1.143, P=0.040) and troponin-T>0.05 μg/L (HR=5.818, 95%CI 1.611-21.018, P=0.003)were associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality within 30 days in female patients. Conclusions: Female patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection have specific clinical characteristics, such as older age at presentation, higher rates of anemia and combined back pain, and higher total cholesterol levels. The risk of death within 1 month is higher in female patients than in male patients, which may be associated with body mass index, hypertension, anemia and troponin-T, but the long-term prognosis for both female and male patients is comparable.

Objective: To investigate the influence of blood pressure control after discharge on prognosis of patients with acute aortic syndrome (AAS) complicated with hypertension who underwent thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). Methods: This is a retrospective case analysis. Patients diagnosed with AAS complicated with hypertension and undergoing TEVAR in Northern Theater Command General Hospital from June 2002 to December 2021 were consecutively enrolled. Average systolic blood pressure (SBP) and the occurrence of endpoint events were recorded at one month, one year and every 2 years after TEVAR. According to the patients' average SBP, patients with average SBP<140 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) or<150 mmHg were divided into the target blood pressure achievement group, and the others were divided into target blood pressure non-achievement group. Endpoint events included all-cause death, aortic death, stroke, renal insufficiency, aortic related adverse events and a composite of these events (overall clinical adverse events), and re-accepting TEVAR. The incidence of endpoint events was compared between the two groups at each follow-up period. Results: A total of 987 patients were included, aged (55.7±11.7) years, including 779 male (78.9%). When the cutoff value was 140 mmHg, the rate of average target SBP achievement was 71.2% (703/987) at one month, 66.7% (618/927) during 1st to 12th month and 65.1% (542/832) from the first year to the third year after TEVAR. The proportion of patients taking≥2 antihypertensive agents was higher in the group of target blood pressure non-achievement group than the target blood pressure achievement group after TEVAR at 1 month (74.3% (211/284) vs.65.9% (463/703), P=0.010) and during 1st to 12th month (71.5% (221/309) vs. 63.6% (393/618), P=0.016). There were no statistical differences in the all-cause deaths, stroke, aortic related adverse events, and repeat TEVAR between the two groups (All P>0.05) during above follow-up periods. When the cutoff value was 150 mmHg, the rate of target SBP achievement was 89.3% (881/987) at one month, 85.2% (790/927) during 1st to 12th month and 85.6%(712/832) from the first year to the third year after TEVAR. The incidence of clinical total adverse events (8.8% (12/137) vs. 4.2% (33/790), P=0.021) and repeat TEVAR (4.4% (6/137) vs. 1.0% (8/790), P=0.003) in target blood pressure non-achievement group were significantly higher than the target blood pressure achievement group during 1st to 12th month after TEVAR. The incidence of all-cause deaths (5.8% (7/120) vs. 2.4% (17/712), P=0.037) in the target blood pressure non-achievement group was significantly higher than the target blood pressure achievement group from the first year to the third year follow-up period, but there were no statistical differences in the incidence of clinical total adverse events between the two group (P>0.05). Conclusion: Among TEVAR treated AAS patients complicated with hypertension, the average SBP more than 150 mmHg post discharge is associated with increased risk of adverse events. Ideal blood pressure control should be encouraged to improve the outcome of these patients.

Biological category is effective to indicate the evolution of organism populations between past and present. Conventional taxonomy of human parasites mainly depends on important morphological features, which suffers from a problem of categorizing related-genera species with similar morphological characteristics. With recent advances in molecular biological technologies, the effective applications of mitochondrial and ribosomal biomarkers and sequencing greatly improve the development of the taxonomic rank of human parasites. Worldwide, the classification of human parasites have been continuously revised and improved. Hereby, we re-categorize parasitic Protozoa, Trematoda, Cestoda and Nematoda, so as to provide insights into the researches on molecular systematics and genetic evolution of human parasites.

OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively analyze the laborotary test results and clinical data of 31 patients with mixed phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) in order to summarize and discuss the biological characteristics, curative effect, and prognosis of each subtype of MPAL based on immunophenotype results. METHODS: MPAL patients diagnosed and treated in our hospital from July 2013 to January 2019 were selected to analyze the data of cell morphology, immunophenotyping, cytogenetics, molecular biology (MICM), and routine blood at initial diagnosis. Follow-up was carried out until the last discharge time. RESULTS: Among 31 patients, there were 19 males and 12 females, with a median age of 41(12-76) years old. According to the results of immunophenotyping and EGIL score, there were 16 cases of myeloid-T lymphoid mixed phenotype (myeloid-T group), 9 cases of myeloid-B lymphoid mixed phenotype (myeloid-B group), 5 cases of T-B lymphoid mixed phenotype (T-B group), and 1 case of myeloid-T-B lymphoid mixed phenotype. Compared between different subtypes, the antigen expression characteristics were the highest positive rate and expression rate of HLA-DR in myeloid-B group, and the positive rate of CD2 in T-B group was significantly higher than that in the myeloid-T group. Meanwhile, the expression rates of CD7 and cCD3 (cytoplasmic CD3) in T-B group were higher than those in myeloid-T group, and cCD79a was positive in all cases of myeloid-B group and T-B group. The median WBC of T-B group was 81.92×10⁹/L, which was significantly higher than that of the other two groups (P<0.05). The quantitative results of WT1 were higher than 10^-4 in 92.6% of the patients, and the WT1 expression level in myeloid-B group was significantly lower than the other two groups (P<0.01). Among the 9 patients with myeloid-B mixed phenotype, 5 cases showed BCR-ABL positive. Among 28 patients followed up, 21 cases achieved complete remission (CR), the median time to first obtain CR was 32.5(9-75) days, and the median follow-up time was 16 months (range from 21 days to 6 years). The CR rate and median overall survival (OS) time in myeloid-B group were 88.9% and 40 months, which were higher than the other two groups. The CR rate and 3-year OS rate in T-B group were relatively lower (50.0%, 0). CONCLUSION WT1 gene is highly expressed in patients with MPAL, and each subgroup of MPAL based on immuophenotype has its unique antigen expression characteristics. Compared with myeloid-T group and T-B group, myeloid-B group can acquire higher remission rate and have better prognosis.

Objective: To detect the SMO mutations in odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) and to explore the mechanism behind. Methods: Patients with OKC who received treatment in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School and Hospital of Stomatology,Peking University, from September 2012 to June 2017 were enrolled. OKC samples from 10 patients diagnosed as naevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS)-related OKC (4 females and 6 males) and 20 patients diagnosed as sporadic OKC (7 females and 13 males) were collected. Genomic DNAs were extracted from fibrous capsules and epithelial lining respectively. SMO mutations were detected and analyzed by Sanger sequencing. Results: Three SMO mutations were found in one NBCCS-associated OKC who carrying c.2081C>G (p.P694R) mutation) and two sporadic OKC who carrying c.907C>T (p.L303F) mutation and c.1247_1248delinsAA (p.G416E), respectively), among which the first two mutations were novel mutations that had not been reported before. Besides, two mutations in sporadic OKC were not paired with PTCH1 mutations. Conclusions: In addition to PTCH1 gene mutations, SMO gene mutations also exist in OKC which might be related to the development of OKC.

The plant root-associated microbiomes include root microbiome and rhizosphere microbiome, which are closely related to plant life activities. Nearly 30% of photosynthesis products of plants are used to synthesize root compounds, there is evidence that root compounds regulate and significantly affect the root microbiome Tanshinones are the main hydrophobic components in Salvia miltiorrhiza. In order to study whether these compounds can regulate the root-associated microbiomes of S. miltiorrhiza, our study first identified a white root S. miltiorrhiza(BG) which contains little tanshinones. Retain of the fifth intron of tanshinones synthesis key enzyme gene SmCPS1 leading to the early termination of the SmCPS1 gene, and a stable white root phenotype. Further, wild type(WT) and BG were planted in greenhouse with nutrient soil(Pindstrup, Denmark) and Shandong soil(collected from the S. miltiorrhiza base in Weifang, Shandong), then high-throughput sequencing was used to analyze the root-associated microbiomes. The results showed that the tanshinones significantly affected the root-associated microbiomes of S. miltiorrhiza, and the impact on root microbiomes was more significant. There are significant differences between WT and BG root microbiomes in species richness, dominant strains and co-occurrence network. Tanshinones have a certain repelling effect on Bacilli which belongs to Gram-positive, while specifically attract some Gram-negative bacteria such as Betaproteobacteria and some specific genus of Alphaproteobacteria. This study determined the important role of tanshinones in regulating the structure of root-associated microbiomes from multiple angles, and shed a light for further improving the quality and yield of S. miltiorrhiza through microenvironment regulation.
