Objective To understand mosquito density, species composition, and seasonal variations around the Beijing Capital International Airport(BCIA)and provide scientific evidence for mosquito-borne disease prevention and control. Methods Meteorological data were collected from 2016 to 2022, and mosquito density was monitored at seven surveillance sites around the BCIA from May to October each year using CO2-baited mosquito traps to analyze the relationship between mosquito density and meteorological factors. Results In total,68 518 female mosquitoes were captured, with a mosquito density of 10.20 per light · hour. The dominant species was Culex pipiens pallens(73.90%), followed by Aedes albopictus(9.71%)and Ae. vexans(9.29%);the mosquito density was highest in 2016(14.8 per light·hour)and lowest in 2022(4.46 per light·hour). Significant statistical differences were observed in mosquito density among different species(F=18.118, P<0.05). The density of Cx. pipiens pallens and other mosquito species showed a mutually exclusive trend; the peak of mosquito density varied based on years and habitats, with significant statistical differences in mosquito density among different habitats(F=8.504, P<0.05). The highest mosquito density was observed near the Wenyu River(21.50 per light·hour), whereas the lowest was recorded at the BCIA construction site(2.44 per light· hour). The monthly average temperature(r=0.595), monthly average highest temperature(r=0.575), and monthly average lowest temperature(r=0.624)showed moderate positive correlations, whereas the monthly average air pressure(r=-0.484)showed a moderate negative correlation. The monthly average minimum temperature was included in the regression model(F=25.575, P<0.000), and the equation Y=1.029X4-8.181 was used. The monthly average air pressure 2 months prior(b=-2.418, β=-1.619, P<0.05)and the monthly average relative humidity(b=-0.739, β=-1.201, P<0.05)significantly negatively predicted the mosquito density. Notably, the regression equation used was y=2526.170+(-2.418)X9+(-0.739)X13. The exposure-response analysis revealed that the density of mosquitoes was not linearly related to the average monthly air pressure, rainfall, and duration of sunshine. Conclusions The dominant mosquito species around the BCIA was Cx. pipiens pallens, Ae. albopictus, and Ae. vexans. During the control of Cx. pipiens pallens, the impact on other mosquito species must also be considered. Environmental management, breeding sites, and scientific use of pesticides should be prioritized based on the activity periods of mosquitoes. Further studies on mosquitoes and meteorological factors should be conducted to provide references and novel avenues for mosquito control.

AIM:This study aims to explore the role of asprosin(ASP)in regulating hepatic lipid anabolic metabolism,as well as the effects of ASP and its downstream pathways on hepatic lipid anabolic metabolism under obesity and exercise intervention.METHODS:To explore the effect of ASP on liver lipid synthesis under physiological condi-tion,5-week-old male C57BL/6J were randomly divided into 4 groups:wild-type(WT)group,WT+ASP group, knockout(KO)group, and KO+ASP group. The mice in KO and KO+ASP groups were ASP gene heterozygous KO mice, and the re-combinant ASP protein was intraperitoneally injected into the mice in WT+ASP and KO+ASP groups for one month before sampling. To explore the role of ASP on liver lipid synthesis under obesity and exercise intervention,5-week-old male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 3 groups:normal control(NC)group,high-fat diet(HFD)group, and HFD+exercise group. After 10 weeks of HFD feeding, the mice in HFD group received no intervention, while those in HFD+ex-ercise group underwent 8 weeks of treadmill exercise intervention. The mice in both groups were fed with HFD during the intervention period. After the interventions, liver tissues were collected from the mice.Western blot and RT-qPCR meth-ods were used to detect the expression levels of ASP,fibroblast growth factor 21(FGF21),nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(NRF2),stearoyl-coenzyme A desaturase 1(SCD1)and fatty acid synthase(FASN)in the mouse liver.ELISA was used to detect the triglycerol(TG)and cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP)levels in the mouse liver, and HE stain-ing and oil red O staining were performed to observe the morphological changes of mouse liver tissues.RESULTS:(1)Compared with WT mice,KO mice exhibited significantly reduced body weight and liver weight, while liver index and he-patic TG levels were significantly increased. The mRNA and protein levels of cAMP,ASP,FGF21 and NRF2 in the liver were significantly decreased, whereas the mRNA and protein levels of SCD1 and FASN were significantly increased. In the WT+ASP group, liver index and hepatic TG levels were significantly reduced, but there were no statistical differences in body weight and liver weight. The mRNA and protein levels of SCD1 and FASN in the liver were significantly de-creased,while the cAMP level and the mRNA and protein levels of NRF2 were significantly increased. The FGF21 mRNA level decreased, but the protein level increased.(2)Compared with KO mice,KO+ASP mice had significantly reduced hepatic TG level, with a certain degree of reduction in liver weight and liver index, but without statistical significance. The cAMP level and the mRNA and protein levels of ASP,FGF21 and NRF2 in the liver were significantly increased, while the mRNA and protein levels of SCD1 and FASN were significantly decreased.(3)Compared with NC mice,HFD mice showed increased body weight, liver weight, and hepatic TG level. The cAMP level and the mRNA and protein levels of NRF2 in the liver were significantly decreased, while the mRNA and protein levels of SCD1 and FASN were significant-ly increased. The FGF21 mRNA level increased, but its protein level decreased. The ASP mRNA level decreased, but its protein level increased.(4)Compared with HFD mice,HFD+exercise mice had significantly reduced body weight, liver weight, and hepatic TG level. The mRNA and protein levels of SCD1 and FASN in the liver were significantly decreased, while the cAMP level and the mRNA and protein levels of NRF2 were significantly increased. The FGF21 mRNA level de-creased,but its protein level increased. The ASP mRNA level increased, but its protein level decreased.CONCLU-SION:(1)The ASP exerts an inhibitory effect on hepatic lipogenesis through the cAMP/FGF21/NRF2 pathway.(2)Un-der HFD feeding condition, the protein expression of FGF21 decreases, leading to our speculation that ASP may develop resistance.Aerobic exercise intervention can attenuate ASP resistance under high-fat condition and alleviate hepatic lipid accumulation caused by HFD.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the neutrophil- to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods:The clinical data of 47 patients with NSCLC who received immunotherapy at The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Science and Technology from December 2021 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the duration of immunotherapy, patients with a duration of more than 1 year were classified as having a good immune response, while those with a duration of less than 1 year were classified as having a poor immune response. The clinical pathological characteristics of patients with good and poor immune responses were compared. The cutoff values for NLR, LMR, and CRP were calculated using receiver operating characteristic curves, and patients were grouped based on these cutoff values. The predictive probabilities of different combinations were compared. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were performed to identify factors affecting patient survival. Results:Significant differences were observed in the distribution of therapy lines (1 st-line vs. 2 nd-line treatment), NLR, LMR, and CRP levels between patients with good immune response and those with poor immune responses (all P < 0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) for NLR was 0.763 [95% CI: (0.608, 0.918)], the AUC for LMR was 0.715 [95% CI: (0.544, 0.875)], and the AUC for CRP was 0.697 [95% CI: (0.540, 0.853)]. To assess the diagnostic value of combined indicators in predicting the efficacy of immunotherapy in NSCLC, different indicators were combined, resulting in the variables NLR + LMR, NLR + CRP, LMR + CRP, and NLR + LMR + CRP. Receiver Operating Characteristic curves were plotted based on the probabilities. The combination of NLR + LMR + CRP showed the best predictive performance, with an AUC of 0.897 [95% CI: (0.806, 0.988)]. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses indicated that LMR [ HR: 0.428; 95% CI: (0.213, 0.858), P = 0.017] and the distribution of treatment lines [ HR: 1.815; 95% CI: (1.005, 3.642), P = 0.033] were important independent prognostic factors for progression-free survival. Conclusions:NLR, LMR, and CRP are correlated with immunotherapy efficacy in patients with NSCLC and provide predictive value. LMR and treatment line are independent prognostic factors for progression-free survival.

Objective:To develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based platelet review strategy to identify abnormal platelet histograms with no significant difference between initial impedance platelet count (PLT-I) and PLT-F results. Methods:This study included 5 119 routine blood analysis in Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University and its Ganzhou branch from July 2023 and March 2024. Specimens exhibiting abnormal platelet histograms and an initial platelet count >40×10?/L underwent review using the fluorescent platelet count (PLT-F) channel. Consistency of the results was defined as a difference between impedance platelet count (PLT-I) and PLT-F less than ±20% of the PLT-F results. A deep learning model was developed using platelet and red blood cell histogram data from a training set of 3 807 specimens. The model′s diagnostic performance was evaluated on an independent external validation set ( n=805) using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Changes in the number of reviewed samples and sample turnaround time were analyzed to assess its clinical utility. Results:The deep learning model based on platelet and red blood cell histograms achieved an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.854 in the training set. At a cutoff value of 0.1, the sensitivity was 0.954 and specificity was 0.358. The model could reduce review by 16.80% (190/1 131). In the validation set, the AUC was 0.805, with a sensitivity of 0.955 and specificity of 0.307, corresponding to a reduction of 17.41% (47/270) in reviewed specimens. Conclusion:The platelet review prediction model developed based on deep learning technology can efficiently identify samples with consistent results before and after review, reducing unnecessary reviews and shortening specimen testing time, thereby improving the efficiency of platelet test.

Objective To report a case of tibial synovial sarcoma and review relevant literature to enhance understanding of this disease. Methods The clinical data of a patient with tibial synovial sarcoma treated at Kaifeng Central Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.A literature search was conducted in domestic and international databases, including China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Data,PubMed,Web of Science, and Embase,up to July 2024.Relevant literature was comprehensively reviewed to summarize the imaging and pathological characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of synovial sarcoma. Results A 29-year-old female patient was admitted with left lower extremity pain.X-ray examination revealed a proximal tibia space-occupying lesion suggestive of malignancy, and a mid-tibial space-occupying lesion considered benign.Contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)and plain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of the proximal tibial lesion also suggested malignancy.Ultrasound-guided biopsy of the proximal tibial tumor revealed a poorly differentiated malignant tumor.Immunohistochemistry results indicated monophasic synovial sarcoma, requiring genetic testing for definitive diagnosis. The patient underwent wide resection of the proximal left tibial malignancy with tumor-type artificial joint replacement, combined with curettage and bone cement filling for the left mid-tibial lesion under anesthesia.Postoperative pathology of space-occupying lesions in the proximal tibia confirmed monophasic synovial sarcoma, and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH)demonstrated a rupture of the synovial sarcoma translocation gene(SYT)(i.e.,SS18 positive). There was no recurrence or metastasis found in the patient during the reexamination 6 months after postoperative chemotherapy. As of July 2024,15 cases of genetically confirmed primary intraosseous synovial sarcoma have been reported internationally.Symptoms included pain and swelling, with a medical history of 1-2 years. The X-ray and CT findings showed osteolytic destruction with bone cortical discontinuity. In 13 cases, the intraosseous masses extended to the extraosseous area;in 2 cases, punctate calcifications were detected within the masses.Plain MRI scan showed iso-signal or hypo-signal on T1WI and hyper-signal,iso-signal,and hypo-signal on fat-suppressed T2WI,and enhanced MRI scan demonstrated heterogeneous enhancement.Pathological examination showed spindle-shaped cells under microscopy.Immunohistochemistry results showed positive epithelial membrane antigen(EMA),broad-spectrum cytokeratin(AE1/AE3),Ewing's sarcoma marker(CD99),and transducin-like enhancer of Split 1(TLE1).Twelve patients underwent surgical treatment;6 patients received adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery,of whom 4 developed local recurrence or distant metastasis at initial diagnosis, and 3 died during follow-up.Among the 6 patients who did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy,3 suffered from recurrence or distant metastasis. Conclusions Primary intraosseous synovial sarcoma is a rare malignant tumor with non-specific clinical manifestations.Imaging features typically include osteolytic destruction and intraosseous masses extending extraosseously, suggesting an intraosseous origin.Pathology and immunohistochemistry aid diagnosis, but definitive confirmation relies on further genetic testing. At present, the main treatment regimens for synovial sarcoma involve comprehensive therapies such as surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy, and the prognosis of patients is poor.
