Objective To explore the relationship between the digital transformation of public hospitals and hospital quality and safety management, providing evidence for hospital digital transformation development and policy formulation. Methods Hospital management data from Shanghai municipal hospitals were collected, and a questionnaire was used to assess the current state of digital transformation.A panel regression of time-fixed effects analysis was performed to examine the correlation between various digital transformation variables and quality and safety performance in 8 Shanghai municipal hospitals from January 2023 to May 2024.Results Hospital digital system construction, digital service level, digital investment and digital research are significantly positively correlated with patient safety and service efficiency, and negatively correlated with the incidence of negative safety events in readmissions, venous thromboembolism and unplanned reoperation. The level of digital services was associated with a reduction in average length of stay.Increased digital investment was associated with not only decreased proportion of medication costs, but also an increase in the proportion of consumable costs, other categories of expenditures, and finally average costs. Conclusion While digital transformation improves hospital quality and safety,it also leads to an increased disease burden for patients. Therefore, further evidence is needed to analyze the cost-effectiveness of different digital transformation pathways.

To achieve the national objectives of improving medical quality and safety, the Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center has formulated a list of major targets, tasks, and key results based onthe Objective and Key Results (OKR) method. The primary approaches adopted include establishing an organizational structure to advance medical quality and safety supervision, setting up a series of quantitative indicators for medical quality and safety targets, formulating standardized management systems, building an information platform, and strengthening supervision. It argues that the adoption of OKR can effectively promote the implementation of national target management for improving medical quality and safety, establish a cross-institutional management network for medical quality and safety, strengthen process management, and effectively drive continuous improvement in medical quality and safety.

Patient satisfaction is one of the core indicators to measure the service quality of medical institutions. To this end, a multi-campus public hospital in Shanghai constructed a management system of patient satisfaction evaluation. Since 2021, its call center has conducted a full coverage satisfaction assessment for discharged patients from its three campuses and collected dissatisfaction information feedback. The hospital organized relevant clinical departments and functional departments to fully communicate with the dissatisfied patients according to the feedback information, followed by a joint rectification. The hospital regularly conducts in-depth analysis of all complaints for timely discovery of common problems in different campuses for continuous improvement. This practice can provide reference for multi-campus hospitals to promote homogeneous management, to improve management efficiency, service quality and patient satisfaction.

This study was to evaluate the cellular inhibition effects induced by anti-AGR2 monoclonal antibody 18A4 in two AGR2-negative melanoma cells, A375 and B16-F10, treated with external oncoprotein AGR2. MTT assay and colony formation assay were performed to detect the cell proliferation rate. Flow cytometry analysis was performed to evaluate cell cycle transition. Cell migration rate was analyzed by wound healing assay. Cell morphological changes were detected by phalloidin staining. The expression of p53 was detected by Western blotting and immunofluorescence. Results showed that 18A4 inhibited the AGR2-dependent tumor properties including enhanced proliferation, accelerated cell cycle, increased cell migration and morphological changes of cells. In addition, by Western blot analysis and immunofluorescence, AGR2 blocking antibody 18A4 also restored p53 expression that was repressed by external AGR2 treated by chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin. These findings suggest that 18A4 is able to inhibit the cellular tumorigenic properties induced by external AGR2 and is a potential drug against fumor.
