Objective:To explore the clinicopathological characteristics of primary bladder mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (MALToma). Methods:A retrospective case series study was conducted. The clinicopathological data of 9 primary bladder MALToma patients diagnosed and underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumors at the Fujian Provincial Hospital, Zhangzhou Municipal Hospital, Mindong Hospital of Ningde City, Zhangzhou Second Hospital and Fuzhou Taijiang Hospital from December 2008 to December 2021 were collected. Paraffin-embedded surgical specimens were collected for HE staining, immunohistochemical staining and genetic testing, the clinicopathological characteristics of patients were summarized, and the literature was reviewed. Results:Of the 9 cases, 8 were female and 1 was male, the age was (59± 11) years old (range: 39-74 years old). Two cases had 3 lesions, 3 cases had 2 lesions, and 4 cases had single lesion. The maximum diameter of the mass was (3.2±1.9) cm (range: 0.3-7.0 cm). The follow-up time was 6-127 months, 4 cases lost to follow-up, 4 cases were disease-free survival, and 1 case was survival with tumor. Pathomorphologically, the bladder tissue consisted of diffusely infiltrating small-to-medium sized lymphocytes, with moderate amounts of pale-staining cytoplasm, without obvious nucleoli, some of them were translucent, and the mitosis was rare. Large cell proliferation in some areas was observed in 1 case, with prominent nucleoli and mitotic figures. Tumor cells in all 9 patients expressed CD20; bcl-2, CD43 and CD38 were positive in some cells in 4 cases, and CD138 was positive in a few cells in 2 cases; κ was positive in 4 cases, and scattered positive in 5 cases; λ was positive in 4 cases, and scattered positive in 5 cases. B-cell receptor gene clonal rearrangement was positive in all 8 cases who underwent the assay. No break-apart signal was observed in all 6 cases who underwent the fluorescence in situ hybridization assay with MALT1 gene segregation probe. Conclusions:Primary bladder MALToma is a rare low-grade B-cell lymphoma that is more commonly found in elderly women. There is no abnormal change in MALT1 gene.

Understanding the pattern and molecular mechanisms of tooth, maxilla and mandible development is the prerequisite for studying their regeneration. Tooth development can be divided into three stages: bud-bell stage, tooth crown development stage and tooth root development stage. During these processes, key genes show spatial and temporal expression pattern. Tooth development is a complex process involving interactions between dental epithelium and mesenchyme, precise regulations of enamel knots in cusp patterning, as well as successful eruption into the oral cavity under proper biomechanical stress and signaling transductions. The development of tooth, maxilla and mandible, all of which originate from the first branchial arch, is independent and regulates each other to form a whole during development. Any developmental defects of them will ultimately cause defects to the others. In this paper, we briefly reviewed the development of tooth, maxilla and mandible, proposed that the homeostasis of microenvironment is critical for their development. Moreover, we reviewed the role of Meckel’s cartilage, a special structure and signaling mechanism during mandible development. At last, we proposed an integrated development model of tooth, maxilla and mandible. We also hope that the regeneration of fully functional tooth, maxilla and mandible in human can be achieved based on fundamental knowledge we have gained so far.

Objective:To review the mechanism of the effects of aviation flight on pregnant women and to summarize the diseases and suggestions that obstetricians should pay attention to for the pregnant women with flight plan.Literature resource and selection:Relevant literature on the subject of impact of aviation flight on pregnant women published in China and abroad.Literature quotation:Thirty-four references were cited.Literature synthesis:Aviation flight exposes the people on board into decreased oxygen partial pressure, humidity, air pressure and increased amount of radiation environment. And those would bring some physiological changes to the pregnant women in flight. However, these changes have little impact on the pregnant women who occasionally take airplane and have no obstetrical or other medical complications besides some discomfort. For the passengers or crew members, who frequently take airplanes, aviation flight can increase the incidence of spontaneous abortions or missed abortions. The long duration flight also increases the risk of deep venous thrombosis in pregnant women. It is recommended that pregnant women would go to the hospital to check whether they are suffering from related diseases that are not suitable for flight before they make flight plan. For the pregnant women who plan to fly for more than 4 h, it is recommended to use gradient elastic compression stockings to prevent venous thrombosis. Conclusions:Although the flight brings certain influences on pregnant women, but the understandings of influential mechanism and risk factors, as well as the proactive prevention would help them to overcome the influences and to relieve the tension in flight.

Although the dental lamina of permanent teeth in human being has been developed as early as the embryo stage, the replacement of the deciduous teeth by permanent teeth does not take place untill the age of 6 to 12 years old. The molecular mechanism of the initiation of permanent teeth is still unclear. The rodent species are usually used for the tooth development research in the past. However, this animal model is not suitable for the tooth replacement study because of the absence of tooth replacement in rodents. After 10 years of efforts, our team has established the animal model of miniature pig for tooth replacement research. Using this model, we firstly defined the spatiotemporal pattern of teeth replacement. In the further mechanism research, results showed that the growing rate of the deciduous teeth was faster than that of the surrounding alveolar bone, and biomechanical stress inside mandible was generated due to the fast growth of deciduous teeth. The stress might up-regulate the signal of Runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2)-Wnt pathway in the mesenchyme between the deciduous and permanent teeth, sustain the successional dental lamina at the resting stage and inhibit the development of permanent teeth. A similar expression pattern was also found in the mesenchyme between the deciduous and permanent teeth in human. Our findings demonstrated that the eruption of deciduous tooth released the stress inside mandible, thus induced the "Wnt translocation" from the mesenchyme into the epithelium of permanent counterpart and therefore initiated the development of permanent teeth. The underlying mechanism of the replacement of deciduous teeth by permanent teeth is the regulation of biomechanical stress throughout the initiation process. Based on the findings, we proposed the theory of "biomechanical stress regulation of the tooth replacement" . The replacement pattern and regulatory mechanism provide a scientific foundation for the organ development and regeneration by regulating the biomechanical stress and Wnt pathway in the future.

RING finger protein 152 (RNF152) is a novel RING finger protein and has not been well characterized. We report here that RNF152 is a canonical RING finger protein and has E3 ligase activity. It is polyubiqitinated partly through Lys-48-linked ubiquitin chains in vivo and this phenomenon is dependent on its RING finger domain and transmembrane domain. RNF152 is localized in lysosomes and co-localized with LAMP3, a lysosome marker. Moreover, over-expression of RNF152 in Hela cells induces apoptosis. These results suggest that RNF152 is a lysosome localized E3 ligase with pro-apoptotic activities. It is the first E3 ligase identified so far that is involved in lysosome-related apoptosis.

Objective To evaluate the effects of Deng Zhan Sheng Mai (DZSM) capsule, a compound made of Chinese herbs, on secondary and tertiary prevention of ischemic stroke. Methods A hospital-based randomized open-blinded clinical trial was conducted among people with a prior history of ischemic stroke. Hospitals were assigned to treatment group, in which all of the participants took DZSM capsules for 3 months, or control group, in which no DZSM capsules was administrated. The primary endpoint was the reduction of levels of blood lipids, fasting blood glucose (FBG) and fibrinogen in the 3rd month. The secondary endpoints were recurrence of stroke, incidence of cardiovascular event (CVD) and all-cause mortality in the 18th month. Results 495 people were enrolled in the treatment group and 504 in the control group, respectively. In the 3rd month, the levels of total cholesterol(TC),FBG and fibrinogen were significantly reduced by 1.7%,4.3 and 8.2%(t values were 4.13,6.65 and 8.50 respectively),and the levels of HDL-C and HDL-C/TC were increased by 7.6%and 1 1.6%(t values were 2.15 and 3.67)in the treatment group, respectively(all P<0.05=.The levels of TC,HDL-C and HDL-C/TC decreased significantly in the eontrol group(all P<0.05=.The incidence of recurrent stroke and CVD events were lower in the treatment group than those in the control group, but the differences did not reach the significant levels. The prevalence of post-stroke depression (PSD) was also decreased in the 3rd mouth while it remained stable in the controls (P for trend equals to 0.0027). The mortality was significantly lower in the treatment group (P=0.008). Conclusion The levels of TC,FBG and fibrinogen as well as the prevalence of PSD and all-cause mortality have decreased significantly in treatment group treated with DZSM capsule for 3 months as compared with the control group.
