Objective:To investigate the computed tomography (CT) imaging features of patients with chronic hydrocephalus after intracerebral hemorrhage surgery and the difference between endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) and ventricular peritoneal shunt (VPS).Methods:A total of 158 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage who received surgical treatment in the Department of Neurosurgery of the People′s Hospital of Jinan from January 2021 to June 2023 were retrospectively selected as the study objects, including 78 patients with chronic hydrocephalus after surgery as the hydrocephalus group, and 80 patients with no hydrocephalus after surgery as the non-hydrocephalus group, and the CT imaging data of the patients were statistically analyzed. Hydrocephalus group was divided into ETV group (42 cases) and VPS group (36 cases) according to different treatment methods. The efficacy and quality of life of the two groups were compared, and the incidence of complications in the two groups were counted. Results:There was no significant difference between hydrocephalus group and non-hydrocephalus group in the site of cerebral hemorrhage, hematoma morphology and the proportion of patients with mixed signs, lobular signs and black hole signs (all P>0.05). The proportion of patients with ventricular dilation and hematoma enlargement in hydrocephalus group was significantly higher than that in non-hydrocephalus group (all P<0.05). The National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores of hydrocephalus patients in the two groups were measured continuously at different time points, and there was no significant difference in NIHSS scores between the ETV group and the VPS group before treatment, at 2 weeks and 4 weeks of treatment (all P>0.05). There was no significant difference between the ETV group and the VPS group ( P>0.05). The recurrence rate of the ETV group was lower than that of the VPS group ( P<0.05). The quality of life scores of patients in ETV group were higher than those in the VPS group at 3 months and 6 months after surgery ( P<0.05). Conclusions:CT examination of patients with chronic hydrocephalus after intracerebral hemorrhage will show obvious characteristics of hematoma enlargement and ventricle enlargement. The efficacy of ETV and VPS in the treatment of chronic hydrocephalus after intracerebral hemorrhage surgery is similar, but the former has a lower recurrence rate and a higher postoperative quality of life.

Objective:To explore the protective effects and mechanisms of an indole-3-acetaldehyde (I3A)-loaded inulin-based hydrogel against radiation-induced intestinal injury. Methods:The gelation properties and injectability of the I3A-loaded inulin-based hydrogel were detected using a rheometer, and its biocompatibility was assessed via a CCK-8 assay. Eighteen C57BL/6 mice (aged: 6-8 weeks) were stratified by body weight and randomly assigned into three groups with 6 mice in each group: blank control, irradiation-only, and irradiation+ hydrogel protection. Abdominal irradiation was administered using 137Cs γ-rays at 17 Gy. The irradiation+ hydrogel protection group received 200 μl/day of I3A-loaded inulin-based hydrogel for two days before and 2-3 days after irradiation. Meanwhile, the irradiation-only group was treated with an equivalent volume of sterile water via gavage. The mice were euthanized four days post-irradiation, and their intestinal tissues were harvested. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, Ki67 immunohistochemistry, and TUNEL immunofluorescence were performed to assess histopathological damage, epithelial cell proliferation, and apoptosis, respectively. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was employed to measure mRNA levels of inflammatory and antioxidant factors. Gut microbiota composition was analyzed via 16S rRNA sequencing. Results:The test results of the rheometer confirmed successful hydrogel formation. CCK-8 assays demonstrated excellent biocompatibility. Compared with the irradiation-only group, the irradiation+ hydrogel protection group exhibited preserved intestinal histoarchitecture, a 1.5-fold increase in intestinal cell proliferation ( t = 8.35, P < 0.05), and a 2-fold reduction in radiation-induced apoptosis ( t = 7.94, P < 0.05). Moreover, the hydrogel group showed significantly elevated expression of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and antioxidant factors NRF-2 and HO-1 ( t = 3.16, 24.83, 5.92, P < 0.05), alongside reduced levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α ( t = 5.15, 3.82, 3.83, P < 0.05). Gut microbiota analysis revealed significant modulation in microbial composition and abundance in the hydrogel group. Conclusions:The I3A-loaded inulin-based hydrogel can significantly promote intestinal cell proliferation, reduce radiation-induced apoptosis, and enhance both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant responses. In addition, it regulates gut microbiota composition and abundance, protecting against radiation-induced intestinal injury.

Breast cancer, a malignant tumor that significantly endangers women′s health, has shown a gradually rising incidence in recent years. Some breast cancer patients experienced poor prognosis. The commonly used imaging techniques for breast cancer include ultrasound, mammography, and magnetic resonance (MR), which suffer from certain limitations in accurately diagnosing and staging breast cancer. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) enables tumor imaging at the cellular and molecular levels by utilizing radiolabeled molecular probes targeting different ligands. This technique facilitates precise localization and qualitative diagnosis of lesions to improve the staging accuracy, thereby reducing biopsy frequency and enhancing treatment effects for patients. Therefore, PET/CT has gradually developed into an essential imaging method for breast cancer in clinical practice. It plays a critical role in assessing the extent of lesion invasion, predicting immune subtypes, and estimating targeted therapy efficacy, holding promising application prospects. Recently, significant research breakthroughs have been achieved in this field. This review summarized the advances in clinical applications of different PET/CT molecular probes in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, aiming to enhance the understanding of this aspect.

Objective To investigate the influence of helical tomographic radiotherapy plans with different combinations of lead gate width, pitch and algorithms on threading effects. Methods A target model was established with a Cheese Phantom used as the simulated human body, then three lead gate widths(1.0,2.5,and 5.0 cm),six screw pitches(0.143,0.172,0.215,0.287,0.430,and 0.500)and two computational grids(Fine algorithm and Normal algorithm)were respectively combined for designing the helical tomography radiotherapy plans. The radiotherapy plans with a pitch of 0.143,0.172,0.215,0.287 or 0.430 were enrolled into an experimental group, and the plans with a pitch of 0.500 were divided into a control group. The dosimetric parameters including maximum dose(Dmax),minimum dose(Dmin)and mean dose(Dmean)of the target area PTV1 and PTV2 were evaluated by the dose volume histogram(DVH).The dose homogeneity index(HI)of the target area was calculated, and the single rotation time and total treatment time of each plan were recorded and counted.SPSS 27.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results No significant threading effect appeared regardless of the pitch value when the lead gate width was 1.0 cm.The threading effects in the experimental group were weaker than those in the control group when the lead gate width was 2.5 or 5.0 cm.The threading effect gradually rose with the pitch increased when the lead gate width was 5.0 cm.The most significant difference was found between the threading effect in case of the screw pitch being 0.500 and that with the screw pitch being 0.143,with the differenes being statistically obvious(P<0.05).The lead gate width had significant effects on the Dmax,Dmin,Dmean and HI of PTV1 and PTV2.When the lead gate width was 5.0 cm,high HI value and uneven dose distribution were detected and lowered screw pitch weakened the threading effect. The single rotation time first remained constant and then increased with the screw pitch was enlarged, with the changing points occurring in case of the screw pitches of 0.287 and 0.430.With a certain lead gate width, the treatment time for plans was shortened with the decrease of the pitches in case of the pritches lower than 0.287,and tended to be constant after the screw pitches reached 0.287.The changes of the computational grid had no significant effects on the results of radiotherapy plans when the lead gate width and screw pitch were kept constant. Conclusion When designing a spiral tomotherapy plan with conventional doses,a lead gate width of 1.0 or 2.5 cm and a screw pitch of 0.287 or 0.430 should be selected in order to minimize the threading effect while ensuring the efficiency of plan implementation.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(8):58-66]
