The 37th ICMART World Congress on Medical Acupuncture (ICMART) was held on Jeju Island, South Korea, from September 27 to 29, 2024. The theme of the congress was "Future of Integrative Healthcare, Convergence of Acupuncture, Medical Science, and Technology," and the event was organized by the Society of Korean Medicine (SKOM), which officially became a member of ICMART in 2019. During the ICMART General Assembly on September 28, 2024, the formal membership of our society was officially approved. This article provides an overview of the process leading to our society's membership in ICMART, and the proceedings of the ICMART General Assembly. It also summarizes the ICMART 2024 Congress and highlights a joint session between our society and the Korean Acupuncture & Moxibustion Medicine Society (KAMMS) focusing on facial nerve paralysis.

As cardiovascular disease(CVD)incidence and mortality rates continue to rise in China,the importance of identifying and managing CVD risk factors grows.Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)is a prevalent sleep-related breathing disorder,affecting an estimated 936 million individuals aged 30-69 worldwide,with China leading globally with 176 million affected.Increasing research indicates a close association between OSA and the onset and progression of various CVD,significantly affecting outcomes.However,OSA has long been underrecognized and undertreated in CVD clinical practice.To address this,National Expert Commission for Cardiovascular Diseases,Cardiovascular Group,Chinese Academy Society of Sleep Medicine,Chinese Medical Doctor Association,and Geriatric Sleep Disorders and Cardiopulmonary Group,Division of Sleep Science and Technology,China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics convened multidisplinary experts to formulate the"Expert Consensus on the Evaluation and Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Patients With Cardiovascular Diseases(2024 Edition)".This consensus addresses core clinical issues such as screening,diagnosis,treatment,and follow-up of CVD patients with OSA.It offers 17 recommendations on common clinical questions,based on current evidence-based medicine,following extensive discussions and votes,aiming to standardize the assessment and management of OSA in Chinese CVD patients,support clinical decision-making,and improve clinical care and service quality.

The general section encompasses recommendations for the management of common CRE infections and diagnostics, whereas each specific section is structured with key questions that are focused on antibacterial agents and disease-specific approaches. This guideline covers both currently available and upcoming antibacterial agents in Korea.

OBJECTIVE To improve the diagnosis and treatment level of critically ill infectious diseases， standardize the clinical application of nanopore sequencing and promote the sound development of the technology. METHODS Division of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Chinese Pharmacological Society and Expert Committee of Precision Medicine for Clinical Treatment of Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association initiated and organized multidisciplinary experts to discuss and determine the consensus writing outline by using the nominal group method， forming a preliminary consensus draft； expert consultation was performed by using Delphi method， and then experts’ opinions were analyzed and revised to form consensus. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS Consensuses of Experts on the Application of Nanopore Sequencing Technology in the Detection of Pathogenic Microorganisms covers targeted sequencing， metagenomic sequencing and whole genome sequencing， and is standardized in terms of sample collection and storage， detection process， bioinformatics analysis and report interpretation； the recommendations are provided for the key issues.

Patients with critical illness are at the high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), and the older the patient, the higher the incidence of VTE. Despite its poor prognosis, VTE is preventable. At present, although there are many consensus or guidelines on the prevention of VTE at home and abroad, there is still a lack of consensus or guidelines for the prevention of VTE in elderly patients with critical illness. In order to standardize the prevention of VTE in elderly patients with critical illness in China, Expert consensus on the prevention of venous thromboembolism for elderly patients with critical illness in China (2023) was developed by Critical Care Medicine Division of Chinese Geriatric Society and Zhejiang Provincial Clinical Research Center for Critical Care Medicine. Members of the working group consulted relevant domestic and foreign guidelines, integrated evidence-based medical evidence and clinical experience, formed the draft consensus, submitted it to the expert group for discussion for many times, revised it for many times, and finally sent it to the expert group in the form of electronic questionnaire, and the expert gave a comprehensive score according to the theoretical basis, scientific nature and feasibility of the consensus items. The recommendation strength of each item was determined, and 21 recommendations were finally formed to provide reference for the prevention of VTE in elderly patients with critical illness.

Objectives: A refill-prescription system startedin April, 2022 in Japan. Refill-prescriptions can be usedrepeatedly, but pharmacists are required to check patients' medication and determine whether refills are appropriate. This study aimed to clarify the actual status of community pharmacies' treatment of prescription refills and pharmacists’ concerns about them.Design: Questionnaire survey.Methods: A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted for pharmacists at community pharmacies from June to July, 2022, shortly after the refill-prescription system was launched, focusing on handling of prescription refills in community pharmacies, and concerns and challenges about refill-prescriptions.Results: Responses were obtainedfrom 377 pharmacists in 34 prefectures throughout Japan. Among them, 30.8% had received refill-prescriptions. Many pharmacists checked medical histories, changes in patients' symptoms, and medication and medical examination status when determining the appropriateness of refills, but few reviewed past laboratory values or laboratory values measuredby patients themselves at the time of their pharmacy visit. Moreover, 34.8% of the pharmacies had internal rules for dealing with refills, and 39.8% had equipment to measure laboratory values. Many pharmacists were concerned about how to share patients’ information with other pharmacies. Challenges that were identified included “Determining whether the refill is appropriate for the patient” and “Establishment of a pharmacy system to receive refill-prescriptions”.Conclusion: This study clarified the actual status of community pharmacies handling of prescription refills, and pharmacists' concerns or challenges about them. Potential improvements include increasing the number of devices that can measure laboratory values at pharmacies, improving home-use measuring devices, creating guidelines to determine the appropriateness of prescription refills and improving pharmacists' skills.

Introduction: Access to accurate and timely dietary information is of paramount importance in evaluating and developing well-targeted public health nutrition interventions. However, nationwide nutrition surveys are conducted infrequently because they are very costly to design, conduct and analyse. Dietary assessment tools, which are quick and cost- effective, are needed for population research and regular monitoring of Malaysians’ dietary habits. This paper describes the rationale and methodology of the Malaysian Healthy Diet Online Survey (MHDOS) project, which aims to bridge this knowledge gap on dietary intake of Malaysian adults. The main objective of the two-year project is to develop MHDOS as a valid tool to measure compliance with the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines 2020. Methods: The MHDOS project has three study phases, namely (i) adaptation of an online survey and established diet quality scoring system for Malaysia, (ii) usability, validity and reliability testing of the online survey; and (iii) online survey administration in a nationwide study. The survey will be administered to approximately 10,000 Malaysian adults aged 18-59 years. Discussion: MHDOS consists of 38 questions that measures the quantity, quality and variety of foods consumed. Individuals will receive a diet quality score that reflects their overall compliance with the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines and feedback on how to improve their scores. The findings of the online survey, which serve to complement information between larger surveys, will be useful to measure compliance of Malaysians to national dietary guidelines and inform public health interventions.
