Objective:To explore the static and dynamic improvement effects of dual nerve transfer (hypoglossal nerve-temporal bone trunk end-to-side anastomosis, masseteric nerve-buccal branch end-to-end anastomosis) in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis after acoustic neuroma resection surgery.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of patients with peripheral facial paralysis after acoustic neuroma surgery who underwent dual nerve transfer surgery in the Department of Plastic Surgery of China-Japan Friendship Hospital from January 2022 to January 2024. The clinical data included standardized photographs and videos before and 1 year after surgery. House-Brackmann (H-B) grading of facial paralysis (Grade Ⅰ to Ⅵ, higher grade indicates worse facial nerve function), electronic facial assessment by computer evaluation (eFACE) (0 to 100 points, higher scores indicate better facial function), facial disability index-physical (FDIP) (-25 to 100 points, higher scores indicate better facial function), facial clinimetric evaluation (FaCE) (0 to 100 points, higher scores indicate better facial function) were used as the effectiveness evaluation indicator, and safety data were collected through patient reports. The measurement data of normal distribution were expressed as Mean±SD and the paired t-test was used. The grade data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. When conducting correlation tests, the Pearson correlation test was used for normally distributed data. Results:A total of 20 patients were enrolled, including 7 males and 13 females, with an average age of (33.4 ± 6.5) years (22 to 44 years). The duration of facial paralysis was (10.3 ± 4.5) months (1 to 20 months). Before the operation, the H-B grades of all patients were grade Ⅵ. At the 1-year follow-up after the operation, all patients showed significant improvement in facial static tension and smile movement. The H-B grades of the affected sides of all patients improved. Among them, 18 cases decreased from grade Ⅵ to grade Ⅲ, and 2 cases decreased from grade Ⅵ to grade Ⅱ. The differences in H-B grades of the affected sides before and after the operation were statistically significant ( P < 0.01). Compared with those before the operation, the static eFACE scores [(64.55±12.62) points vs. (84.25±9.08) points], dynamic eFACE scores [(34.85±9.31) points vs. (68.70±5.36) points], FDIP scores [(28.50±8.13) points vs. (59.50±5.36) points], and FaCE scores [(23.33±9.23) points vs. (61.92±9.65) points] of the affected sides significantly increased, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.01). Correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between age and the postoperative eFACE static score ( r=-0.61, P < 0.01). Five patients complained of mild chewing weakness and bilateral chewing asymmetry, which did not affect their daily lives, no patients had tongue atrophy, tongue extension weakness, speech or swallowing disorders. Conclusion:Dual nerve transfer surgery provides both facial static tension and smile dynamics, and has remarkable clinical efficacy in treating peripheral facial paralysis after acoustic neuroma surgery.

ObjectiveTo study the effect of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (atDCS) combined with mirror therapy (MT) on upper limb function for stroke patients. MethodsFrom July, 2018 to June, 2019, 54 stroke patients from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, were randomly divided into groups A, B and C, with 18 cases in each group. All the patients received routine medication and rehabilitation training, while group A accepted 60 minutes of MT, group B accepted 20 minuts of atDCS first and then 40 minuts of MT, and group C accepted 40 minutes of MT first and then 20 minuts of atDCS in addittion; for four weeks. They were assessed with Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremities (FMA-UE), Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), Motor Assessment Scale (MAS) and modified Barthel Index (MBI) before and after treatment. ResultsThe main effect of time was significant in scores of FMA-UE (F = 159.811, P < 0.001), ARAT (F = 353.227, P < 0.001), MAS (F = 513.494, P < 0.001) and MBI (F = 85.982, P < 0.001), and all of them improved after treatment. The main effect of groups was significant in scores of FMA-UE (F = 12.502, P < 0.001), ARAT (F = 20.095, P < 0.001), MAS (F = 16.371, P < 0.001) and MBI (F = 11.882, P < 0.001). The interacted-effect between time and groups was significant in scores of FMA-UE (F = 37.659, P < 0.001), ARAT (F = 78.681, P < 0.001), MAS (F = 97.997, P < 0.001) and MBI (F = 48.015, P < 0.001); while all the scores were the best in group B (P < 0.01), and there was no significant difference between groups A and C (P > 0.05). ConclusionThe combination of atDCS first and then MT can promote the recovery of motor function of the affected limbs for stroke patients.

Objective:To investigate any effect of combining mirror visual feedback (MVF) training with robot-assisted gait training (RGT) in promoting the recovery of lower limb motor function among stroke survivors.Methods:Sixty stroke survivors were randomly divided into a combined treatment group, an RGT group and a control group, each of 20. In addition to traditional rehabilitation, the RGT group received 30min of RGT 5 days a week for 4 weeks, while the combined treatment group underwent 30min of RGT and also 20min of MVF training with the same frequency and duration. Before and after the treatment, the lower extremities motor functioning and walking ability of all of the patients were assessed using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment for the lower extremities (FMA-LE), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and Functional Ambulation Categories (FAC).Results:There were no systematic differences in any of the measurements before the treatment. After the 4 weeks, however, the average FMA-LE, BBS and FAC scores of the combined treatment and RGT groups were significantly better than the control group′s averages, and those of the combined treatment group were significantly superior to the RGT group′s. All of the groups had, however, improved significantly compared with before the treatment.Conclusions:Robot-assisted gait training is more effective in enhancing the motor functioning of the lower extremities and walking ability when it is combined with MVF.

Recently, more and more researches use stem cells as seed cells. Three-dimensional culture and use of bioreactors can expand the scale of stem cells culture and increase the efficiency of culture, which can better simulate the microenvironment in vivo when combing cytokines, co-culture, biomaterials, or gene delivery to promote the directional tissue differentiation. In addition, in situ tissue regeneration technique can achieve tissue engineering in vivo for tissue repair and regeneration. This review elaborates advance of research in tissue engineering of stem cell in various aspects, and potential problems and challenges of tissue engineering of stem cell are discussed in depth.

Post-stroke depression (PSD) is the most common psychological disorders in stroke patients. PSD not only seriously affects patients' functional recovery, quality of life and ability to return to society,but also increases the recurrence rate and mortality of stroke. In recent years,some researchers have applied non-invasive brain stimulation(NIBS) technology to treat PSD,and achieved certain curative effect. The authors reviewed current research progress of noninvasive brain stimulation for the treatment of post-stroke depression.

The prevention and treatment of scars has always been an important task in the field of wound repair.Humans have started treatment for scars long time ago and have created a series of treatments.At the same time,with the development of science and technology,the diagnosis and treatment of scars have made great progress.Through the basic research for new therapeutic targets and innovative of treatment methods,treatment for scar turns more diversified and integrated.As a result,clinicians will suffer many challenges while having more options for scars treatment.Combined with traditional treatment,developing new treatments,and the comprehensive therapy of multiple treatment methods is the mainstream trend of scar treatment.

Objective To explore the differences in autophagic expression levels between hypertrophic scar (HS) tissue and normal skin tissue,and further investigate the relationship between hypertrophic scar formation and autophagy protein expression through the rabbit ear hypertrophic scar model.Methods 30 patients with hypertrophic scar were collected.One hypertrophic scar tissue and one normal skin tissue were harvested.The relative expressions of LC3,P62 and Beclin-1 in each tissue specimen were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.Western blot was used to detect the autophagic-associated protein LC3 (MAPLC3),P62 and Beclin-1 in the hypertrophic scar tissue of rabbit ear and the corresponding normal tissue of rabbit ears at 4 weeks,8 weeks,12 weeks,and 24 weeks,and further explore their clinical significance.Results In vivo,the expression of hypertrophic scar tissue protein LC3 and Beclin-1 was significantly stronger than that in normal skin tissue (P ＜ 0.05).The expression of P62 was significantly weaker than that in normal skin tissue (P ＜ 0.05).In animal experiments,during the process of HS formation,the protein expression of LC3 gradually increased,while the protein expression of P62 gradually decreased;the protein expression of Beclin-1 was higher than that of normal rabbit ears tissue,with statistically significant differences (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The expression of LC3 and Beclin-1 in human hypertrophic scar tissues is higher than that in normal tissues.While the expression of P62 is lower than that in normal tissues.That is,the expression of autophagy in human hypertrophic scar tissue showed an upward trend in a certain period of time,and was significantly higher than that in normal tissue.

Objective: To investigate trends of mean age of diagnosis for liver cancer during 2000 to 2014, which may provide basic information for making feasible cancer prevention strategies. Methods: Based on the continuous cancer incidence data from 22 cancer registries of China between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2014, the incidence by birth-cohort (year of birth between 1925 and 1994) and age specific incidence rates were calculated. The incidence of different age groups were also calculated. World Segi's population was used for age standardization. The liner regression model was applied to analyze the changing trend of mean age of diagnosis. Results: In 2014, the incidence rate for population with 80 years older and above was 108.21 per 100 000, whereas the rate for population at 30-39 years old was 5.09 per 100 000. But the mean age of diagnosis for liver cancer showed an increasing trend from 2000 to 2014. For male, it had increased from 58.80 to 62.35 (t=18.70, P<0.001) . For female, it had increased from 64.02 to 68.99 (t=20.50, P<0.001) . After age standardization, the mean age of diagnosis still showed increasing trend. Meanwhile, the proportion of liver cancer in people above 70 years old was 25.05% in 2014, which was higher than that in 2000 (22.49%). Conclusion The mean age of liver cancer incidence was increasing during 2000-2014.
