AIM: To compare the preoperative ocular biometry between Pentacam AXL and IOL Master 700 in cataract patients.METHODS:Prospective study. A total of 150 patients(150 eyes)with cataracts who were treated in our hospital from May to December 2024 were selected. The IOL Master 700 and Pentacam AXL were preoperatively used to measure axial length(AL), corneal curvature(K1, K2 and Km), anterior chamber depth(ACD), and white-to-white(WTW). The difference and consistency of the results of the two instruments were compared.RESULTS: There was no significant difference between the two instruments in the AL, K1, K2, Km, ACD, and WTW(all P>0.05). The Spearman correlation analysis showed that the two instruments positively correlated with the AL, K1, K2, Km, ACD and WTW of the operated eye(all P<0.001). The Bland-Altman analysis showed that for the Pentacam AXL and IOL Master 700, there were 5/150(3.3%), 7/150(4.7%), 4/150(2.7%), 5/150(3.3%), and 0 points outside the 95%LoA for the AL, K1, K2, Km, ACD, and WTW of the examined eyes, respectively, with all of these values less than 5%, indicating good consistency.CONCLUSION:The AL, K1, K2, Km, ACD and WTW of Pentacam AXL and IOL Master 700 in cataract patients before cataract phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation show no significant differences, and have good correlation and consistency. The two instruments can be used interchangeably.

Bisphenols (BPs) are extensively used in food packaging, personal care products, and plastics, making them prevalent in both living and working environments, which has raised significant concern. As endocrine-disrupting chemicals, BPs exert toxic effects on the female reproductive system by binding to estrogen receptors, thereby activating or inhibiting the expression of genes related to reproductive functions, which disrupts the normal function of the endocrine system. This paper reviewed the effects of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS), and bisphenol F (BPF) on female reproductive function, focusing on three key aspects: the effects on the female reproductive organs, the occurrence of associated reproductive disorders, and the mechanisms of toxicity. Specifically, this review highlighted the effects on ovarian function, uterine morphology and function, and fallopian tube function, as well as their correlation with polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, miscarriage, and eclampsia. Additionally, the toxic mechanisms of BPs exposure were summarized, providing a scientific basis for future research on the impact of BPs on the female reproductive system, as well as for the assessment of potential health risks and the development of preventive measures.

Objective To investigate the concentration of 17β-estradiol in bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) and different tissues of rats, and study the function of estradiol produced in extragonadal sites prelimi-narily. Methods (1) The concentration of 17β-estradiol in lysate of BMSCs and in supernatant cell culture media were detected by Elisa method after rats BMSCs were serum-free cultured in 0 h , 24 h and 48 h respective ly . (2) The tissues of organs were grinded and broken under ultrasonic wave , then washed and weighed. The con-centration of 17β-estradiol in different tissues was detected by Elisa method. Results Compared with the concen-tration of 17β-estradiol at 24 h, the concentration of 17β-estradiol at 48h significantly increased (P < 0.05). The concentration of 17β-estradiol among different tissues were higher, but the difference is not significant (P > 0.05). Conclusions (1) 17β-estradiol can be secreted by BMSCs , and the concentration is proportional to the time to some degree. But whether the extragonadal estrogen can function locally is still unclear. (2) The concentration of 17β-estradiol is non- gonad dependent but whether it is secreted locally remains to be elucidated. The non- gonad estrogen could be the estrogen source of bone metabolism in order to sustain bone health after menopause.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the serum SRC-3 levels and the bone loss severity in postmenopausal women. Methods Fifty-eight PMW with osteopenia or osteoporosis and nineteen healthy PMW were enrolled in this study from June 2012 to September 2013. BMD at the lumbar spine and femoral neck were observed by DXA Lunar Prodigy Vision. The levels of serum SRC-3 were detected by ELISA. The diagnosis value was evaluated by the ROC curves analysis. Results The levels of serum SRC-3 were significant higher in the normal group than those in the osteopenia or the osteoporosis groups (P<0.001 for both), no statistical significance was found between the osteopenia and the osteoporosis group(P=0.056). The levels of serum SRC-3 were negatively correlated with the BMD diagnosis grading (r=-0.543, P < 0.001). By using the ROC curve analysis, the serum level of SRC-3 for PMW with osteoporosis and osteopenia were found to be 0.297 ng/mL and 0.347 ng/mL, respectively. The levels of serum SRC-3 were positively associated with BMI (r=0.395, P<0.001) and LS-BMD (r=0.503,P<0.001) in the postmenopausal women. Conclusion SRC-3 might be an useful index to reflect the severity of lumbar spine bone loss.

Objective To investigate the role of p21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1) in colorectal mucosal carcinogenesis and the relationship between PAK1 expression and biological behavior of colorectal carcinoma. Method PAK1 was detected with immunohistochemical method in 10 normal colorectal mucosas,40 colorectal villous or tubular adenomas and 60 colorectal carcinomas. Results The positive rate for PAK1 was 10.0% in normal colorectal mucesas, and 25.0%, 33.3% and 33.3% in slight, moderate and severe dys-plastic adenomas, respectively, 65.0% was found in colorectul carcinomas. The positive rate for PAK1 in col-orectal carcinomas was higher than that in normal colorectal mucosas(P<0.01), colorectal villous or tubular adenomas(P<0.01), slight dysplastic adenomas(P<0.01) and moderate dysplastic adenomas (P<0.05).The positive rate for PAK1 of poor differentiated colorectal carcinomas was higher than that of high differentiated ones (P<0.05), and the positive rate for PAK1 of patients with lymph node metastasis was higher than that of patients without lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). In clinical stages, the positive rate for PAK1 in Dukes C and D stages patients was higher than that in Dukes A stage patients, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion PAK1 maybe play some role in the process of carcinogenesis of colorectal mucesa, and be used as an useful marker for assessment of the biological behavior and prognosis of colorectal carcinoma.
