Objective To perform on-site calibration of high-pressure ionization chambers and NaI(Tl) γ spectrometers in state-controlled atmospheric radiation environment automatic continuous monitoring stations and verify the reliability of the online radiation environment monitoring system. Methods ¹³⁷Cs, ⁶⁰Co, and ²⁴¹Am were used as γ reference radiation sources to measure the metrological performance of high-pressure ionization chambers in nine state-controlled atmospheric radiation environment automatic monitoring stations in Hubei Province, China. The performance metrics included background radiation, response, and repeatability. Additionally, the correlation between dose rate and humidity was analyzed, and the energy resolution and activity response of NaI(Tl) γ spectrometers were measured. Results Among the nine state-controlled atmospheric radiation environment automatic monitoring stations, the background radiation of high-pressure ionization chambers ranged from 58.2 nGy/h to 82.6 nGy/h. The response of the high-pressure ionization chambers ranged from 0.94 to 1.08, fulfilling the requirement of 1.0 ± 0.2. The repeatability of high-pressure ionization chambers ranged from 0.43% to 3.80%, satisfying the requirement of not exceeding 10%. A significant correlation was observed between dose rate and humidity, with a correlation coefficient of 0.4476. For NaI(Tl) γ spectrometers, the energy resolution ranged from 6.8% to 7.9%, fulfilling the requirement of not exceeding 9% for the 661.7 keV energy peak of ¹³⁷Cs. The NaI(Tl) γ spectrometers showed 1.4% to 1.8% s⁻¹·Bq⁻¹ activity response to ²⁴¹Am and 6.6‰ to 8.4‰ s⁻¹·Bq⁻¹ activity response to ⁶⁰Co. Conclusion The online monitoring systems in the nine state-controlled atmospheric radiation environment automatic monitoring stations are stable and reliable, providing accurate radiation environment monitoring data for public awareness.

Objective To investigate the clinical features of thyroid dysfunction in lung cancer patients treated with programmed cell death receptor-1(PD-1)or programmed cell death receptor-ligand 1(PD-L1)and their value for predicting therapeutic efficacy.Methods Lung cancer patients treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors at West China Hospital,Sichuan University between March 2018 and September 2022 were retrospectively enrolled.Data concerning the medical records,therapeutic efficacy,and thyroid function indicators of the patients were retrieved from the hospital electronic medical record information system.The data were then analyzed to identify risk factors and predictive factors for immune-related adverse events(irAEs)of the thyroid.The predictive value of thyroid irAEs for treatment efficacy and prognosis was assessed.Objective response rate(ORR)was defined as the indicator for therapeutic efficacy and progression-free survival(PFS)was defined as the prognostic indicator.Results A total of 368 lung cancer patients were enrolled.Among them,31.5％(116/368)developed thyroid irAEs.According to the results of logistic regression analysis,baseline thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)concentration and baseline positive results for thyroglobulin antibody(TGAb)and thyroid peroxidase antibody(TPOAb)were risk factors for thyroid dysfunction caused by PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors.Among the three measures,baseline TPOAb concentration demonstrated good predictive value for thyroid irAEs,with an area under the receiver-operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC)of 0.745.Patients with thyroid irAEs had a longer median PFS(16.0 months vs.9.7 months,P＜0.001)and a higher ORR(55.2％vs.34.9％,P＜0.001)compared to those without thyroid irAEs.Patients with thyroid irAEs had a better ORR than those without thyroid irAEs did.It was more likely for patients with thyroid irAEs to achieve an objective response compared to those without thyroid irAEs(odds ratio[OR]=2.29;95％CI,1.46-3.60).Conclusion In lung cancer patients treated with the PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors,the TPOAb antibody demonstrates good predictive value for thyroid irAEs.Patients who develop thyroid irAEs have better treatment outcomes and prognosis.

Diarrhea-irritable bowel syndrome （IBS-D） is one of the common functional bowel diseases in clinical practice. Since it pathogenesis is complex and has not been fully elucidated， effective treatment methods remains to be developed for this disease. Establishing the animal models of IBS-D in accordance with the clinical characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） and Western medicine helps to reveal the pathogenesis of this disease and improve the treatment plan. The fitting degree of an animal model with clinical characteristics is an indicator to evaluate the effectiveness of the animal model in simulating the disease characteristics of Western medicine and the syndromes of TCM based on the latest diagnostic standards. By reviewing the relevant articles about the animal models of IBS-D， we discovered that rats were the preferred animals for modeling， and the models were mainly induced by single factors， double factors， or the combination of multiple factors. The established animal models mainly present symptoms or signs associated with visceral hypersensitivity or/and gastrointestinal motility abnormalities. The single factor-induced rat models of IBS-D had high fitting degrees with the clinical characteristics of Western medicine but low fitting degrees with the TCM syndromes. The animal models induced by two or more factors had high but varied fitting degrees with the clinical characteristics of Western medicine. In addition， the animal models of IBS-D considering TCM syndromes mainly focuses on the syndrome of liver depression and spleen deficiency， and few models were established for the syndromes of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency， spleen-stomach dampness-heat， spleen deficiency and dampness excess， and cold and heat in complexity. Therefore， it is essential to improve the existing or develop new animal models of IBS-D in the future， so as to provide more tools for deciphering the mechanisms of TCM and Western medicine and developing treatment methods for this disease.

Pharmacological perturbation studies based on protein-level signatures are fundamental for drug dis-covery.In the present study,we used a mass spectrometry(MS)-based proteomic platform to profile the whole proteome of the breast cancer MCF7 cell line under stress induced by 78 bioactive compounds.The integrated analysis of perturbed signal abundance revealed the connectivity between phenotypic behaviors and molecular features in cancer cells.Our data showed functional relevance in exploring the novel pharmacological activity of phenolic xanthohumol,as well as the noncanonical targets of clinically approved tamoxifen,lovastatin,and their derivatives.Furthermore,the rational design of synergistic inhibition using a combination of histone methyltransferase and topoisomerase was identified based on their complementary drug fingerprints.This study provides rich resources for the proteomic landscape of drug responses for precision therapeutic medicine.

Objective:To explore the non-bacterial pathogen distribution, epidemiological characteristics, and clinical features of acute respiratory infections in children in Sichuan Province.Methods:Using a retrospective cohort study method, this study selected hospitalized children diagnosed with acute respiratory infections at West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University from February 2019 to January 2021, and tested 13 pathogens using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-fragment analysis. The children were divided into infant group (<1 year old), toddler group (1 year old ≤ age <3 years old), preschool group (3 years old ≤ age <6 years old) and school-age group (6 years old ≤ age <18 years old). The distribution of pathogen positive rates, seasonal epidemic characteristics, clinical characteristics, and some laboratory test indicators were analyzed in children. Statistical analysis was performed on the results using SPSS 22.0 software, with count data expressed as percentages and inter group comparisons using SPSS 22.0 software χ2 Inspection. Results:A total of 2 922 pediatric patients were included in this study, with 1 748 (59.8%) positive for pathogens detected. Among them, 1 391 (79.6%) were detected as a single pathogen, and 357 (20.4%) were detected as a mixture of two or more pathogens. The most commonly detected pathogens were rhinovirus (HRV) (39.7%), syncytial virus (RSV) (22.8%), and parainfluenza virus (PIV) (12.5%). Pathogen positivity is more common in children under 6 years old ( χ2=146.59, P<0.001), with a slightly higher positivity rate in male children (61.3%, 1 047/1 707) than in female children (57.7%, 701/1 215) ( χ2=3.91, P=0.048), and compared with pathogen negative children, positive children are more prone to symptoms such as cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath ( χ2=259.15, 366.06, 12.48, P<0.001). The distribution of different pathogens varies among children of different age groups, and HRV is more common in children aged 1-3 and 3-6 years old ( χ2=9.74, P<0.001), while RSV is more common in children under 1 year old ( χ2=178.63, P<0.001), while mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) and influenza virus (InfA/B) are less common in children under 1 year old ( χ2=92.54, 12.90,22.21, P<0.01). The prevalence of multiple pathogens showed seasonal changes. HRV showed a high prevalence trend in spring and autumn, while the prevalence of RSV infection was mainly seen in autumn and winter festivals. The positive rate of different pathogens after the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia was significantly lower than that before the outbreak ( χ2=252.68, P<0.001). Conclusion:The detection rate of non-bacterial respiratory pathogens in children in Sichuan Province from 2019 to 2021 is high, which is prone to symptoms such as cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath, with HRV and RSV being the main types. The positive rate of respiratory pathogens varies among different age groups, genders, and seasons.

Objective To investigate the risk factors for pulmonary embolism (PE)in patients with acute spinal cord injury (ASCI).Methods A case-control design was adopted in this study.Basic information,injury cause,injury site,imaging and laboratory examination results and other relevant data of 840 ASCI patients admitted to 3 affiliated hospitals of Army Medical University from January 2018 to August 2023 were collected.According to occurrence of PE or not,these patients were divided a PE group (n=83) and a non-PE group (n=757).Univariate analysis was performed on 37 risk factors including gender,age,length of hospital stay,length of intensive care unit (ICU)stay,cause of injury,and so on,and then multivariate logistic regression analysis was applied to analyze these selected significant variables.Results Univariate analysis showed that 24 factors such as age,length of hospital stay,lower limb fracture,pulmonary contusion and infection,shock and number of operations were related to the occurrence of PE in ASCI patients (P<0.05).Binary logistic regression analysis indicated that age (P=0.000,OR=1.957,95％CI:1.532～2.499),length of ICU stay (P=0.000,OR=2.561,95％CI:1.728～3.794),number of operations (P=0.015,OR=1.814,95％CI:1.124～2.927),spinal fixation (P=0.004,OR=0.370,95％CI:0.189～0.724),restrictive position (P=0.000,OR=21.269,95％CI:5.276～85.740),platelet count (P=0.000,OR=1.553,95％CI:1.236～1.951),D-dimer level (P=0.000,OR=1.600,95％CI:1.376～1.860)and prothrombin time (P=0.025,OR=2.756,95％CI:1.138～6.670)were independent risk factors for PE in the patients.Conclusion The mortality of the ASCI patients with PE is significantly higher than those without.Age,length of ICU stay,number of operations,spinal fixation,restrictive position,platelet count,D-dimer level and prothrombin time are closely associated with PE in ASCI patients.

Syndrome of dampness-heat of spleen and stomach is one of the complex syndromes of the spleen and stomach,which is difficult to differentiate and treat in TCM.According to the theoretical connotation of"attacking it according to its combination",it is suggested that the syndrome of dampness-heat of spleen and stomach should be comprehensively differentiated and treated from five aspects,including"attacking the visible pathogens combined with the invisible ones"(removing dampness and warming yang),"treating the fu-organs sharing interior-exterior relationship with zang-organs"(clearing away damp-heat pathogens of stomach with drugs of bitter taste and cold property),"formulating the treatment according to the likes and dislikes of the five internal organs"(developing a life adjustment plan favored by the spleen and stomach),"administrating drug according to the five organs"(medications according to the spleen and stomach),"weighing the severity and applying the treatment"(pay attention to the details,and treating according to syndrome differentiation).A clinical case is exampled,with the purpose to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of syndrome of dampness-heat of spleen and stomach.

Periodontitis imparting the increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases is partially due to the immune subversion of the oral pathogen, particularly the Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis), by inducing apoptosis. However, it remains obscure whether accumulated apoptotic cells in P. gingivalis-accelerated plaque formation are associated with impaired macrophage clearance. Here, we show that smooth muscle cells (SMCs) have a greater susceptibility to P. gingivalis-induced apoptosis than endothelial cells through TLR2 pathway activation. Meanwhile, large amounts of miR-143/145 in P.gingivalis-infected SMCs are extracellularly released and captured by macrophages. Then, these miR-143/145 are translocated into the nucleus to promote Siglec-G transcription, which represses macrophage efferocytosis. By constructing three genetic mouse models, we further confirm the in vivo roles of TLR2 and miR-143/145 in P. gingivalis-accelerated atherosclerosis. Therapeutically, we develop P.gingivalis-pretreated macrophage membranes to coat metronidazole and anti-Siglec-G antibodies for treating atherosclerosis and periodontitis simultaneously. Our findings extend the knowledge of the mechanism and therapeutic strategy in oral pathogen-associated systemic diseases.

Heart failure (HF) has become a major challenge in the treatment of global cardiovascular diseases. Great progress has been made in the drug treatment of HF, however, rehospitalization rate and mortality of patients with HF are still high. Hence, there is an urgent need to explore new treatment strategy and new underlying pathogenic mechanisms. In recent years, some researchers have suggested that regulation of ketone body metabolism may become a potentially promising therapeutic approach for HF. Some studies showed that the oxidative utilization of fatty acids and glucose was decreased in the failing heart, accompanied by the increase of ketone body oxidative metabolism. The enhancement of ketone body metabolism in HF is a compensatory change during HF. The failing heart preferentially uses ketone body oxidation to provide energy, which helps to improve the body's cardiac function. This review will discuss the potential significance of ketone body metabolism in the treatment of HF from three aspects: normal myocardial ketone body metabolism, the change of ketone body metabolism in HF, the effect of ketogenic therapy on HF and its treatment.
