1.Analysis of psychological changes in naval recruits from different geographical regions

Objective To investigate psychological changes in the naval recruits from different geographical regions , so as to provide the scientific evidence for mental health education and counseling of naval recruits from different regions .Methods Self evalu-ation was made among the 301 naval recruits by using symptom checklist 90 (SCL-90), and then, total scores and single item scores were analyzed statistically .Results No obvious psychological changes were noticed in the naval recruits , and there was no statistical significance, when comparisons were made between before and after entrance into the barracks (P>0.05).At the initial stage of en-trance into the barracks and 30 days after training , the psychological health status of the recruits from North China was basically stable , and no statistical significance could be seen when comparisons were made (P>0.05).Also at the initial stage of entrance into the bar-racks and 30 days after training , the psychological health status of those recruits from Northeast China was stable , and statistical signifi-cance could neither be seen when comparisons were made (P>0.05).On the other hand, the psychological health status of the recruits from East China , Central China and South China at the initial stage of entrance into the barracks and 30 days after training was consider-ably fluctuating .Statistical significance could be found , when comparisons were made between before and after entrance into the bar-racks(P<0.01).Conclusion Unit leaders should pay full attention to psychological health status of recruits and the differences be -tween recruits from different geographical regions , and psychological counseling and intervention should be implemented purposely in ac -cordance with the differences of psychological status of recruits from different regions of China .
