Depression is a severe mental illness. Although existing antidepressant medications have shown efficacy in many patients, a significant proportion show poor responses to current treatments, necessitating the need for novel therapeutic approaches. Photobiomodulation (PBM), an emerging physical therapy, has recently shown promising efficacy in the treatment of depression, as indicated by two systematic reviews, and is characterized by high safety and good tolerability. However, challenges remain in areas such as light delivery techniques and optimization of treatment parameters. This review summarizes the antidepressant mechanisms of PBM, various methods of light transmission, and recent research progress on its application in the treatment of depression. It also discusses issues related to safety, tolerability, and impact of specific parameters, aiming to provide insights and recommendations for future research on PBM as a therapy for depression.

Objective:To explore the teaching effect of the combined use of curriculum ideological and political education and CDIO (connective, design, implement, operate) mode in the cultivation of stomatological top-notch innovative personnel. Methods:The research subjects were undergraduate students from School of Stomatology, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, who participated in stomatological top-notch innovative personnel training program in 2018 and 2019. CDIO was applied to control group, the combined use of curriculum ideological and political education and CDIO mode was applied to experimental group. After the training, the students' research and innovation capacity was examined and the teaching efficiency of these two models was reflected by the students' questionnaire. SPSS 20.0 software was used for t test. Results:In terms of research and innovation capacity, students scored significantly better in professional English, concluding report, papers publishing, and field defense in experimental group than in control group [(22.43±0.61) vs. (18.49±0.77), (22.48±0.32) vs. (19.05±0.53), (23.69±0.33) vs. (21.89±0.52), and (22.78±0.48) vs. (20.43±0.56), respectively, P<0.05]. The students in experimental group highly agreed with the teaching efficiency of the combined use of curriculum ideological and political education and CDIO mode. Conclusion:The combined use of curriculum ideological and political education and CDIO mode could enhance subjective initiative, sense of identity, sense of pride, sense of belonging, cultivation of multi-dimensional ability, thus helping to form a novel system of stomatological top-notch innovative personnel training.

Ultrasound therapy and considerable progress in molecular imaging technologies have allowed the use of ultrasonic microbubbles not only in image enhancement but also in targeted drug or gene delivery as drug or gene carriers, respectively. Hence, ultrasound microbubbles carrying drugs or genes have become a novel type of tumor-targeting therapy technology. They do not emit radiation and are thus safe. Additionally, they are efficient and easy to reuse and facilitate drug or gene release. All these features offer attractive prospects for the treatment of liver cancer and provide novel treatment ideas for the disease. This article reviews the mechanism, applications, and existing problems of ultrasonic microbubbles in the treatment of liver cancer.

Objective:To investigate the current situation of general practitioners' occupational pressure in Heilongjiang Province, and explore its relationship with professional identity and perceived organizational support. It aims to provide references for the construction of general practitioners and the development of general medical education. Methods:The general situation questionnaire, perceived organizational support scale, occupational pressure scale, and professional identity scale were applied through network and site surveys for collecting data. A total of 288 questionnaires were collected with 263 valid questionnaires (91.3%). Pearson correction analysis and bootstrap analysis were performed for data analysis. Results:The average score of occupational pressure among general practitioners was (115.95±22.40), and the results of Pearson correction analysis showed that perceived organizational support was negatively correlated with occupational pressure ( r=-0.413, P<0.01) and positive correlation with professional identity ( r=0.587, P<0.01). There were also significant negative correlations between professional identity and occupational pressure ( r=-0.442, P<0.01). Moreover, the mediating effect showed that professional identity had a certain mediating effect on the relationship between perceived organizational support and occupational pressure (LLCI=-0.2039, ULCI=-0.0760, P<0.05). Conclusion:General practitioners' occupational pressure was at a high level, which can be reduced through improving the perceived organizational support and professional identity.

Objective To examine the current situation of the career plateau among anesthesiologists and analyze the impact of occupational stressors on it. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on the anesthesiologists. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed and 278 questionnaires were effectively collected. Statistical analysis using SPSS 19.0 was performed to assess the status quo of career plateau among anesthesiologists. Pearson correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis were used to analyze the influence of occupational stressors on career plateau . Results The average value of occupational stressors among anesthesiologists was (3.22±0.55), and the average value of career plateau was (3.90±0.70). Occupational interest in the occupational stressors of anesthesiologists is negatively correlated with the occupational plateau (r=-0.552, P<0.01), and career development is negatively correlated with occupational plateau (r=-0.541, P<0.01) as well. Both occupational interest and career development show a negative predictive effect on the career plateau (β=-0.359, P<0.01 andβ=-0.334, P<0.01, respectively). Conclusion Career plateau among anesthesiologists is at a medium-to-high level. Occupational interest and occupational development in occupational stressors have a negative predictive effect on occupational plateaus, so hospital managers should pay attention to them.

Steroids are commonly used in patients with eosinophilic meningitis caused by A. cantonensis infections. The mechanism steroids act on eosinophilic meningitis remains unclear. In this mouse experiments, expressions of 14-3-3 isoform β and γ proteins significantly increased in the CSF 2–3 weeks after the infection, but not increasedin the dexamethasone-treated group. Expression of 14-3-3 β, γ, ɛ, and θ isoforms increased in brain meninges over the 3-week period after infection and decreased due to dexamethasone treatment. In conclusion, administration of dexamethasone in mice with eosinophilic meningitis decreased expressions of 14-3-3 isoform proteins in the CSF and in brain meninges.
