Objective:A preliminary trial is conducted to explore whether perioperative(preoperative,intraoperative,and postoperative)electroacupuncture is more effective than postoperative electroacupuncture in improving gastrointestinal function for colorectal cancer patients.Methods and analysis:The study proposes a randomized,parallel-controlled,single-center trial involving 30 colorectal cancer patients aged 18-79 requiring elective surgery.Participants are randomly assigned to two groups,with equal allocation,where one group receives perioperative electroacupuncture,and the other group receives postoperative electroacupuncture.The treatment duration spans from preoperative to postoperative 72 h,with a subsequent 28-day follow-up period.The primary outcome is the time of first postoperative defecation.The secondary outcomes include the recovery time of postoperative bowel sounds,time of the first flatus,dietary recovery,postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction frequency,quality of life scale,postoperative pain degree,time of the first ambulation,length of hospital stay,gastrointestinal hormone indicators,and adverse events.The coagulation function test,liver and renal function,and stool and blood routine serve as security biomarkers.The statistical analysis includes the t-test,rank-sum test,Chi-square test,and analysis of variance.A two-sided significance level is set at 5%.Discussion:This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of perioperative electroacupuncture for gastrointestinal function recovery following colorectal cancer surgery.The study's strengths include its randomized design,well-defined intervention periods,and multi-dimensional outcome assessment.Nevertheless,limitations,such as the small sample size and single-center setting,may affect external validity.The findings will guide protocol refinement and sample size estimation for future large-scale multi-center randomized controlled trials.

Objective:To investigate the plasma differential protein expressions between patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and normal controls, and to search plasma protein markers or protein combinations with screening or diagnostic significance.Methods:Plasma samples from 98 patients with dementia of Alzheimer type (DAT), 102 patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and 101 normal controls (NC) were collected from Wuxi Mental Health Center and Shanghai Mental Health Center from 2016 to 2018.The expression levels of 50 kinds of plasma proteins in all plasma samples were detected by Milliplex MAP assays(xMAP).Analysis of variance, regression analysis, discriminant analysis, and ROC analysis on the data were performed using SPSS 20.0 software.Results:(1)Compared with the NC group, 26 plasma proteins were up-regulated and 4 proteins were down-regulated in DAT group, while 6 proteins were up-regulated and 4 proteins were down-regulated in MCI group(all P<0.05).Compared with the NC group, 6 proteins were upregulated in both MIC group and DAT group, which were clusterin(Clust) (613.41(278.89), 761.76(358.60), 473.01(321.73)), cystatin C(Cys C) (691.88(441.34), 852.28(551.75), 548.64(545.28)), transthyretin(TTR) (207.10(168.60), 220.95(151.20), 152.89(162.70)), complement factor H(Com FH) (331.67(218.37), 361.69(124.64), 225.79(236.82)), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM1) (109.30(49.47), 137.21(50.36), 87.06(57.59), and apolipoprotein E(APOE) (79.33(78.13), 79.31(68.85), 54.88(67.34)).The serum amyloid P component(SAP) was downregulated in both DAT and MCI groups(121.23(311.31), 92.39(156.62), 125.00(242.82)) compared with NC group.(2)Three sets of protein combination were screened by differential analysis, regression analysis, and discriminant analysis, including 8 proteins, 9 proteins and 7 proteins, respectively.And SAP, angiotensin (AGT), osteopontin (OPN), and complement C4 (Com C4) were the compared with NC group most frequently selected protein.The screening correct rate of three protein combinations were respectively 67.4%-71.4% for AD, 82.4%-88.4% for DAT, and 60.6%-63.5% for MCI. Conclusions:A variety of plasma proteins such as Clust, Cys C, TTR, Com FH, sICAM1, APOE are upregulated, while SAP is downregulated in AD patients.These differential protein combinations can help with early diagnosis of dementia with Alzheimer type.SAP, AGT, OPN and Com C4 may be potential markers for early screening or diagnosis of AD.

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at different time points during the perioperative period on the recovery of gastrointestinal function after gastrointestinal malignant neoplasms surgery. Methods: Sixty-three patients who needed radical surgery for gastrointestinal tumors were randomized into a control group, treatment group 1 (postoperative EA group), and treatment group 2 (intraoperative and postoperative EA group). The control group received surgery and conventional Western medicine treatment, and treatment groups 1 and 2 received additional EA treatment at different time points. The initial flatus time after the surgery, visual analog scale (VAS) score at different time points after the surgery, the proportion of using patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) after the surgery, and the times of adding analgesics were observed in the three groups. Results: The initial flatus time after the surgery was earlier in treatment groups 1 and 2 than in the control group (P<0.05); the difference between treatment groups 1 and 2 was statistically insignificant (P>0.05). The VAS score was lower in treatment group 2 than in the control group at 6, 12, 24, and 72 h after the surgery (P<0.05); the VAS score was lower in treatment group 1 than in the control group only at 72 h after the surgery (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the rate of using PCA among the three groups (P>0.05). Regarding the times of adding analgesics, it was less in treatment group 2 than in the control group at 12 h after the surgery (P<0.05). Conclusion: Either EA during and after the surgery or only after the surgery can hasten the initial flatus and boost the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients after radical resection of gastrointestinal neoplasms. Successive EA during and after the surgery should be superior to postoperative EA regarding the analgesic effect after the surgery.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum gastrin level in patients with colon cancer and the relationship between serum gastrin level and colon cancer occurrence and development.Methods Data of 35 patients underwent colon cancer surgery from January 2010 to January 2012 in our hospital were collected,at the same time data of 28 patients with colonic polyps and 30 cases of normal were collected as normal control.Serum gastrin levels were tested by radioimmunoassay in patients with colon cancer before surgery,1,3,7 d after surgery and they were analyzed.Results The serum gastrin level of patients with colon cancer was significantly increased compared with colon polyps and healthy controls((92.45 ± 12.98) ng/L vs (49.66 ±10.34) ng/L vs (30.12 ±6.39) ng/L;F =9.455,P ＜0.001)).Serum gastrin level in patients with obstructive colon cancer was significantly higher than that in non-obstructive cancer((129.84 ± 15.32) ng/L vs (75.34 ±11.45) ng/L,t =12.181,P ＜0.001) ;Serum gastrin levels in patients who cut off colon tumor was signifcanfly lower than before surgery((43.02 ±8.34) ng/L,(40.74 ±6.78) rig/L,(38.12 ±7.09) ng/L vs (89.45 ±12.98) ng/L;P ＜0.05).But no significant change of serum gastrin levels in patients with the colon tumor compared with the preoperative((97.34 +8.30) ng/L vs (95.82 ±7.20) ng/L vs (94.44 ±7.74) ng/L vs (100.23 ± 10.82) ng/L; P ＞ 0.05).But there was significant difference on serum gastrin levels between patients who cut off colon tumor and patients with the colon tumor(within groups:F =8.341,P =0.012 ;between groups:F =7.871,P =0.024).Conchusion Serum gastrin levels in patients with colon cancer were significantly higher than that of patients with colon polyps and normal controls.There was also a significant reduction of serum gastrin in tumor resection,and therefore gastrin may be involved in the development of colon cancer.
