Objective To investigate the differences in BMD,T-scores,lumbar HU values,and modified VBQ scores in patients with thoracolumbar fractures,analyze their correlations,and evaluate their predictive efficacy for thoracolumbar fractures.Methods Patients with thoracolumbar fragility fractures and hospitalized in the Department of Orthopedics at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from January 2022 to March 2025 were retrospectively enrolled.Among them,132 eligible patients were divided into the fracture group(n=63)and the non-fracture group(n=69).BMD and T-scores of L1～L4 vertebrae were measured via DEXA,lumbar HU values were obtained from CT scans,and modified VBQ scores were calculated using lumbar MRI.Intergroup comparisons were performed using independent samples t-tests.Pearson's correlation analysis was used to assess the relationships among BMD,T-scores,HU values,and modified VBQ scores.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was conducted to evaluate their predictive performance for thoracolumbar fractures.Results The fracture group exhibited significantly lower mean BMD,T-scores,and HU values in L1～L4 compared to the non-fracture group,while modified VBQ scores were significantly higher(P<0.001).Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between BMD,T-scores,and HU values in L1～L4,whereas all three parameters showed a significant negative correlation with modified VBQ scores(P<0.001).The AUC values for predicting thoracolumbar fractures were 0.826(T-score),0.836(BMD),0.759(HU value),and 0.875(modified VBQ score),with optimal cutoff thresholds of-1.65(T-score),0.836 g/cm2(BMD),68.4(HU value),and 3.01(modified VBQ score),respectively.Conclusion BMD,T-scores,HU values,and modified VBQ scores in L1～L4 vertebrae are significantly correlated and can serve as the predictive indicators for thoracolumbar fractures.Among them,the modified VBQ score demonstrates the best predictive performance,making it a valuable auxiliary tool for assessing the vertebral bone quality.

Objective: To investigate the effects of lactoprotein iron chelates on rats with iron deficiency anaemia (IDA), so as to provide insights into developing and utilizing novel iron supplements. Methods: Seventy weaning female SPF-graded rats of the SD strain were randomly divided into the control group (A), model group (B), ferrous sulfate group (C), lactoferrin group (D), lactoferrin iron chelate group (E), Casein oligopeptide iron chelate group (F) and whey protein oligopeptide iron chelate group (G), with 10 rats in each group. The rats in group A were fed with normal diet, and the others were fed with poor iron diet for IDA modeling. The corresponding interventions were given by intragastric administration once a day. The iron ion concentrations of group C, E, F and G were 2.0 mg/kg, and the protein and oligopeptide concentrations of group D, E, F and G were 2 000 mg/kg. Body weight and hemoglobin of rats were measured weekly during 21-day intervention. At the end, peripheral blood samples were collected, and blood routine, iron metabolism and liver function indicators were determined. Results: After the intervention, among blood routine indicators, the rats in group C, E, F and G showed elevated hemoglobin, red blood cell, mean corpuscular volume and hematocrit, and decreased free protoporphyrin and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration when compared with the rats in group B (all P<0.05); among iron metabolism indicators, the rats in group C, E and G showed elevated serum ferritin, the rats in group C, E, F and G showed elevated serum iron, the rats in group C, D, E, F and G showed decreased unsaturated iron binding capacity and total iron binding capacity when compared with the rats in group B (all P<0.05); among liver function indicators, the rats in group E and G showed decreased alanine transaminase when compared with the rats in group B (both P<0.05). Conclusions Lactoprotein alone could not completely improve IDA in rats compared with traditional iron supplement (ferrous sulfate). Lactoprotein iron chelate, especially whey protein oligopeptide iron chelate, could significantly improve IDA, iron reserve and liver function damage in rats.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Yiqi Yangjing recipe combined with sticking therapy on lung cancer pleural effusion.Methods:From December 2017 to August 2019, 68 patients with advanced lung cancer and pleural effusion in Pudong New Area Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected and randomly divided into two groups by random number table method, with 34 cases in each group.The control group was given furosemide orally on the basis of routine nutritional support treatment, and the treatment group was given Yiqi Yangjing prescription orally and traditional Chinese medicine sticking therapy on the basis of the control group.Both two groups were treated for 6 weeks.The changes of pleural fluid volume and quality of life scores were observed and compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate in the treatment group was 70.5%(24/34), which in the control group was 47.1%(16/34), the difference was statistically significant between the two groups(χ 2=3.886, P<0.05). The total effective rate of TCM syndrome integral was 64.7%(22/34) in the treatment group, and 35.3%(12/34) in the control group, the difference was statistically significant between the two groups(χ 2=5.800, P<0.05). After treatment, the overall quality of life score of the treatment group(55.74±5.15)points, which was higher than that of the control group[(51.91±5.20)points]( t=56.130, P<0.05). Conclusion:Yiqi Yangjing recipe combined with traditional Chinese medicine sticking therapy can effectively improve the clinical efficacy of lung cancer hydrothorax, improve the quality of life of patients.

Objective:To compare the dosimetric differences between accelerated partial breast irradiation intensity modulated radiation therapy (APBI-IMRT) and whole breast irradiation with simultaneous integrated boost intensity modulated radiotherapy (WBI-SIB-IMRT) for early-stage breast cancer after breast-conserving surgery.Methods:A total of 35 patients with early-stage breast cancer in Jilin Province Cancer Hospital between July 2009 and December 2014 after breast-conserving surgery were enrolled. The targeted regions of APBI-IMRT and WBI-SIB-IMRT were created for each patient. The dosimetric difference comparison of the targeted region and normal tissues was evaluated by using dose volume histogram (DVH).Results:There was no significant difference in the dosimetric comparison of gross tumor volume (GTVtb) and planning gross tumor volume (PGTVtb) after correction of cumulative radiation effect (CRE) between WBI-SIB-IMRT group and APBI-IMRT group (both P > 0.05). The dose of clinical target volume (CTV) and planning target volume(PTV) in APBI-IMRT group was higher than that in WBI-SIB-IMRT group [CTV: (4 720±71) cGy vs. (3 889±79) cGy, t = 3.184, P = 0.027; PTV: (4 675±164) cGy vs. (3 807±199) cGy, t = 2.751, P = 0.032] after CRE correction. Compared with WBI-SIB-IMRT group, the dose of ipsilateral lung tissue and left heart tissue in APBI-IMRT group was decreased after CRE correction [(558.5±8.9) cGy vs. (1 304.9±34.4) cGy, t = -7.328, P = 0.001; (35.5±5.3) cGy vs. (843.0±41.5) cGy, t = -8.137, P = 0.001]. V 5/3.6 Gy, V 10/7.3 Gy, V 15/10.9 Gy, V 20/14.6 Gy, V 25/18.2 Gy and V 30/21.9 Gy of the ipsilateral lung and V 30/21.9Gy, V 40/29.2Gy of left heart in all breast cancer patients after two chemotherapy treatments had significant differences (all P = 0.001). Conclusion:Compared with WBI-SIB, APBI-IMRT can improve the dose distribution in target area and reduce the volume of high dose irradiation in organs at risk.

Objective: To evaluate the toxicological safety of a compound Chinese medicine preparation of gardenia. Methods: Eighty healthy SD rats with half males and half females were randomly divided into four groups. The low-,moderate- and high-dose group were given 1.00 g/kgbw,2.00 g/kgbw and 4.00 g/kgbw of the preparation,while the control group was given distilled water,by gavage for 30 days. The changes of diet,weight,hematological parameters and major organs of rats were observed,and the histopathological examination of the main organs was performed. Results: The rats in the high-dose group reduced activities and their urine turned dark yellow or green,while the other rats showed no abnormality. No rats died during the experimental period. Compared with the control group,the weight,the total weight gain,the food utilization rate,the fasted weight of the rats in the high-dose group and the hemoglobin content of the female rats in the high-dose group were significantly decreased（P<0.05）;the ratio of liver to body weight,the ratio of kidney to body weight,the serum creatinine levels of the rats in the high-dose group and the serum urea nitrogen levels of the male rats in the high-dose group were significantly higher（P<0.05）. The livers and kidneys of the rats in high-dose group turned different degrees of dark green;the hepatic pigmentation,hepatocyte vacuolar degeneration,bile duct hyperplasia accompanied with inflammatory cell infiltration,renal pigmentation,renal tubular epithelial cellular swelling,and renal interstitial inflammatory cell infiltration were observed. Conclusion This preparation at a dose of 4.0 g/kgbw has hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity to rats. A dose of 2.0 g/kgbw has no harmful effect but less than 100 times of the possible human intake,the safety is not guaranteed.

Objective: To evaluate the safety of a herbal pilatory for external use. Methods : An acute eye irritation test were employed to detect the eye irritation of the herbal pilatory;a skin irritation test,a skin sensitization test and a skin phototoxicity test were employed to detect the dermal toxicity;Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay（Ames test）and chromosome aberration test in CHL cells were employed to detect the effects of the pilatory on gene mutation and chromosome aberration in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Results: When the eyes of rabbits exposed to the pilatory without rinse during the first 24 hours,the conjunctiva showed congestion and edema with the highest score of 2,corneal opacity was observed with the highest score of 1;however,these symptoms returned to normal within 72 hours,with the score reduced to 0. No irritation to the skin of rabits was found after exposed to the pilatory for fourteen days,no skin sensitization was introduced by Buehler test and no skin phototoxicity on guinea pigs was detected. There was no abnormal growth of reverse mutation colonies induced by the pilatory under S9 acitivation or not. There was no statistically significant rise of chromosome aberration rate in the exposed CHL cells compared to the control groups（P>0.05）. Conclusion Under the condition,the herbal pilatory showed mild and reversible irritation to eyes,while no dermal toxicity and genetic toxicity were observed. The safety of the herbal pilatory for external use is acceptable.

Doctors needed to communicate with a large and varied crowd under complex clinical situation. The expression and realization of medical humanities literacy through communicating and cooper-ating can help clinical decision-making and cooperation, which is critical to improving the efficiency and the quality of patients' experience. Therefore, this article explores new definitions of communication which are more suitable for doctors and analyzes their principles and requirements according to the different sub-jects in communication and cooperation. Doctor-patient communication should focus on the future. Peer communication should respect each other and seek common points ground while reserving differences. Social communication should grasp the boundaries and eliminates prejudice. Only by using certain skills in com-munication and cooperation like this, can we express and realize medical humanities literacy and contribute to the stability of China's medical environment.

Objective To study the application of Internet of Things, wireless health monitor all-in-one machine, health management platform, energy consumption monitoring in employee health management. Methods Enrollment criteria were set based on employees' health examination data, 126 employees were enrolled in this study voluntarily, 97 were male, and 29 were female. The age was from 26 to 59 years, the average age was 43.7 ± 6.1 years. Using motion energy consumption monitor, wireless health monitor all-in-one machine and health management platform, employee's exercise, body weight, body mass index, fat and muscle mass, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), uric acid, fasting blood glucose etc. were monitored. Data were collected for before and after 3 months intensive intervention. Results After 3 month of intensive intervention, body weight ( (74.90 ± 9.95) kg, (71.77 ± 9.57) kg), body mass index ((25.94 ± 2.65) kg/m2, (24.96 ± 2.55) kg/m2), fat mass ((21.30 ± 4.31) kg, (18.89 ± 4.23) kg), muscle mass ((49.78 ± 7.12) kg, (49.07 ± 6.97) kg), systolic pressure ((129.72 ± 11.16) mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), (118.32 ± 10.50) mmHg), diastolic blood pressure ((89.10 ± 8.28) mmHg, (76.94 ± 7.57) mmHg), cholesterol ((5.16±0.85) mmol/L, (4.96±0.90) mmol/L), triglyceride ((1.72±0.92) mmol/L, (1.43±0.64) mmol/L), uric acid ((353.00 ± 85.33) μmol/L, (345.00 ± 73.01) μmol/L) were decreased with statistical significance (t=10.92, 11.03, 6.75, 5.56, 4.23, 3.99, 4.26, 3.46, 1.98, P<0.05); and the value of HDL-C ((1.20 ± 0.24) mmol/L, (1.28 ± 0.25) mmol/L) increased significantly (t=-4.62, P<0.05); the value of LDL-C((2.54 ± 0.52) mmol/L, (2.66±0.58) mmol/L) increased and fast blood glucose ((5.05±0.73) mmol/L, (5.02±0.79) mmol/L) decreased, but there was no significant difference(t=-3.03, 0.14 respectively, P>0.05). Conclusion Health Internet of Things can help employees to develop scientific exercise habits , to correct unhealthy diet habits, and improve health. It will provide a new option for enterprise employee health management and can be recommended for health management programs by large enterprises with domestic and abroad projects.

Objective To review multi-center experience on rescue use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO) in pediatric patients with respiratory failure and to investigate its short-term outcome in China.Methods The survey was conducted in 4 tertiary hospitals in China mainland.All children<18 years old who had been supported with non-open chest ECMO to rescue respiratory failure in PICU were reviewed.Results Twenty-one patients with ECMO support were diagnosed respiratory failure.Male was 14,female was 7.Twelve patients successfully weaned off ECMO, 8 patients survived to discharge and 13 died.The largest part of protopathy was severe pneumonia(33%)and acute respiratory distress syndrome(29%).Their mean age was 29.0(9.0,81.5)months, mean weight was 12.0(9.0,20.8)kg,and mean OI index was 31.5(19.2,41.0).The average length of ECMO run was 149.0(91.2,242.0)hours.The blood gas analysis showed that PO2 increased from 49.5(40.4,61.9)mmHg(1mmHg=0.133kPa) at the beginning to 65.0(42.6,120.5)mmHg at 24h after ECMO treatment,and the increase of PO2 was higher in the survival compared with the nonsurvival[52.0(1.8,89.4) mmHg vs.8.2(-15.1,33.9) mmHg,P=0.036].The SO2 increased from 80.0%(70.4%,91.8%)at ECMO initiation to 98.0%(95.6%,100%)at 24h after ECMO treatment,and increase of SO2 was higher in survival group compared to that of nonsurvival group[23.5%(11.4%,27.1%) vs.4.3%(2.4%,23.8%),P=0.039].VV mode had higher survival rate than VA mode(3/3 vs.5/18).The longer the use of ventilator before ECMO,the mortality rate increased as well.The mechanical ventilation time before ECMO was significantly longer in nonsurvival group than that in the survival group[4.5(2.5,12.0)h vs.1.6(1.0,2.2)h,P=0.015].The most common complications during ECMO run were bleeding and disfunction of oxygenator.Conclusion ECMO is an effective support treatment for the pediatric patients with respiratory failure,which significantly improves oxygenation.
