Peri-implant keratinized mucosa (PIKM) augmentation refers to surgical procedures aimed at increasing the width of PIKM. Consensus reports emphasize the necessity of maintaining a minimum width of PIKM to ensure long-term peri-implant health. Currently, several surgical techniques have been validated for their effectiveness in increasing PIKM. However, the selection and application of PIKM augmentation methods may present challenges for dental practitioners due to heterogeneity in surgical techniques, variations in clinical scenarios, and anatomical differences. Therefore, clear guidelines and considerations for PIKM augmentation are needed. This expert consensus focuses on the commonly employed surgical techniques for PIKM augmentation and the factors influencing their selection at second-stage surgery. It aims to establish a standardized framework for assessing, planning, and executing PIKM augmentation procedures, with the goal of offering evidence-based guidance to enhance the predictability and success of PIKM augmentation.

International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2023;46(1):23-29
Objective:To investigate the in vitro inhibitory effect of methylene blue mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT) combined with berberine on Porphyromonas gingivalis (P.g). Methods:P.g was cultured until the middle to late log phase, and methylene blue was added to P.g suspension at different mass concentrations for 5 min, and a laser (wavelength 660 nm, power 140 mW/cm 2) was irradiated for 2 min to find the optimal concentration of methylene blue combined with the laser for in vitro inhibition of P.g. The effect of methylene blue mediated PDT on the in vitro inhibition of P.g and the effect of berberine on the growth curve of P.g were observed. The inhibitory effect of methylene blue mediated PDT and berberine on P.g was investigated by successive combined applications. The effect of methylene blue mediated PDT on P.g morphology was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The absorption peaks of each component were measured by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. Results:The best inhibition was achieved at a methylene blue mass concentration of 24.414 1 μg/ml under 660 nm laser excitation. The differences were statistically significant in both the methylene blue and PDT groups compared with the control group (all P<0.001). 0.05 mg/ml berberine had an inhibitory effect on the planktonic bacteria of P.g. After P.g was treated with methylene blue mediated PDT, the bacterial cell walls were crumpled into clusters. Compared with the control group, the number of colonies was reduced in the 0.05 mg/ml berberine group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.01). The difference between the 0.05 mg/ml berberine + light group and the control group was not statistically significant ( P>0.05). When PDT was combined with berberine, there was a synergistic inhibitory effect on P.g. PDT followed by berberine shows a better inhibitory effect on bacteria, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.01). After the berberine treatment, the bacterial surface became smooth, and the length of the bacterial body increased compared with the control group. Conclusions:Methylene blue mediated PDT has an inhibitory effect on P.g. When combined with berberine, it has a synergistic inhibitory effect on P.g., and the inhibition effect is better when PDT is applied first and then berberine is applied in combination.

Objective:To explore the epidemiological characteristics of geriatric hip fractures in Beijing so as to provide evidence for effective prevention and control measures. Methods:This multicenter study was conducted in 3 urban (Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Beijing Hospital and Beijing Anzhen Hospital) and 3 suburban hospitals (Beijing Shunyi District Hospital, Beijing Changping District Hospital and Beijing Liangxiang Hospital) in Beijing from November 2018 to November 2019. Eligible patients were those aged ≥ 65 years with hip fracture confirmed by X-ray and being admitted to hospital within 21 days of injury. To explore the epidemiological characteristics of geriatric hip fractures in Beijing, such data were collected as patients' age, gender, comorbidities, as well as type, site, time and cause of the fracture.Results:① A total of 2,071 patients were included in this suevey. They were 653 males and 1,418 females (M∶F=1∶2.17). Their age ranged from 65 to 102 years (average, 79.8 years). The patients aged from 75 to 84 years were the most common, accounting for 44.81% (928/2,071). ② Femoral neck fractures accounted for 43.41% (899/2,071), and intertrochanteric fractures accounted for 56.59% (1,172/2,071). The age of the patients with femoral neck fracture was (78.6±7.7) years, which was significantly younger than that of those with intertrochanteric fracture [(80.7±7.4) years] ( P<0.05). ③ 94.69% of the hip fractures (1,961/2,071) were caused by falling, and 71.27% fractures (1,476/2,071) happened at home. ④ Approximately 83.00% of the patients (1,719/2,071) had one or more comorbid conditions. Hypertension was the most prevalent disease (57.89%, 1,199/2,071), followed by diabetes (27.09%, 561/2,071), and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (22.02%, 456/2,071). Conclusions:In Beijing, significantly more geriatric females sustain a hip fracture than males, and the proportion of those aged from 75 to 84 year is the largest. The proportion of intertrochanteric fractures increases with age. Falls are the leading cause for geriatric hip fractures. Most of the patients have one or more chronic comorbid conditions. Corresponding prevention and intervention measures should be formulated according to the distribution characteristics of elderly hip fractures in Beijing.

It is widely acknowledged that holistic processing is a key characteristic of face perception. Although holistic processing implies the automatic integration of face parts, it is unclear whether such processing requires the awareness of face parts. Here, we investigated the interactions between visible face parts and face parts rendered invisible using continuous flash suppression (CFS). In the first experiment with the upper half-face visible and the lower half-face invisible, the results showed that perceived face identity was influenced by the invisible lower half-face, suggesting that integration occurs between the visible and invisible face parts, a variant of the “composite face effect”. In the second experiment, we investigated the influence of visible face parts on the processing of invisible face parts, as measured by the time it took for the invisible parts to break out from CFS. The results showed a visible-to-invisible facilitation effect, that the aligned invisible face parts broke through CFS faster than when the visible and invisible face parts were misaligned. Visible eyes had a stronger influence on the invisible nose/mouth than the other way around. Such facilitation of processing from visible to invisible parts was also found when Chinese characters were used as stimuli. These results show that information integration occurs across the consciousness boundary.

Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University(Medical Sciences) 2021;42(3):345-348
【Objective】 To quantitatively analyze the surgical freedom of odontioectomy via endoscopic endonasal approach. 【Methods】 Seven adult head specimens were dissected by the endoscopic transnasal approach to the sellar region and craniocervical junction. The center of sellar floor (CenSF), opticocarotid recess (LOCR), foramen magnum, atlas, atlas-occipital joint and tip of odontoid process (TOP) were exposed. The surgical freedom of TOP was calculated by using the spatial coordinate positioning system of neuronavigation, and compared with that of LOCR and CenSF. 【Results】 CenSF and LOCR were common landmarks in the endonasal endoscopic approach. When the surgical freedom between TOP and CenSF and LOCR was compared, it indicated that ① The angle of attack on axial plane (AAAP):There was a significant difference among TOP, LOCR and CenSF (5.7 ° vs. 6.9 ° vs. 8.5 °, P=0.004). The comparison between the two groups showed that TOP was less than CenSF (P=0.003). ② The angle of attack on sagittal plane (AASP): There was a significant difference among TOP, LOCR and CenSF (6.3° vs. 7.0° vs. 9.5°, P=0.009). The TOP was less than CenSF (P=0.008). ③ There was no statistical significance between TOP and LOCR in surgical freedom (P=0.604, P=0.688). 【Conclusion】 Endoscopic transnasal approach can provide sufficient surgical freedom for odontoidectomy.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical characteristics and identify potential factors of the early-stage hip involvement in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) based on the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Methods:A retrospective group control study was carried out in 570 AS patients who were consecutively admitted to our hospital from 2014 to 2018. Patients with hip pain or hip function limitation but lacking definitive evidence of hip involvement on radiography were underwent hip MRI. Patients were divided into three groups: no hip involvement, early-stage hip involvement (hip involvement detected by MRI but with negative radiographs) and advanced-stage hip involvement (Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Radiology Index-hip score ≥2). The study factors included demographic, laboratory, clinical and radiographic data. Simple and multiple ordinal logistic regression analysis were used to identify factors associated with the early-stage hip involvement and advanced-stage hip involvement. Results:A total of 236 patients (41.4%) presented with hip involvement, in which 146 cases (25.6%) were diagnosed with early-stage hip involvement, while 90 cases (15.8%) were diagnosed with advanced-stage hip involvement. Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that older age at onset [ OR=0.80, 95% CI (0.72, 0.90), P<0.01], more active inflammation in the sacroiliac joints [ OR=1.13, 95% CI(1.07, 1.18), P<0.01] and worse BASMI score [ OR=3.06, 95% CI(2.14, 4.13), P<0.01] were associated with the occurrence of early-stage hip involvement. Conclusion:MRI is superior to radiography in detecting early-stage hip involvement. MRI is more suitable for hip involvement assessment in AS patients with suspected symptoms or risk factors of hip involvement.

Objective:
To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and distribution characteristics of tick-borne encephalitis in China in 2014, and to provide scientific basis for formulating specific prevention and control measures.
Methods:
The epidemic data were obtained from the "infectious disease report information management system" , using Excel 2016, GIS and other software to summarize and analyze the cases of tick borne encephalitis (TBE) reported, using the number of cases, incidence, composition ratio and other indicators to analyze and describe the TBE epidemiological characteristics in China in 2014.
Results:
In 2014, a total of 322 cases of TBE were reported in 9 provinces in China, with an annual incidence of 0.024/100, 000 and 1 death of patient. The provinces with high number of cases were Jilin province, Inner mongolia autonomous region and Heilongjiang province, and the number of cases in the other six provinces is no more than two. TBE was distributed in spring and summer, and it is concentrated in May to July. The age of the affected population was mostly concentrated in 40-49 years old, the male-female ratio was 1.6∶1 (198/124), and the patients were dominantly farmers, household and unemployed workers, and forestry workers, they accounted for 49.40% (159/322), 26.40% (85/322) and 18.60% (60/322) of the national TBE cases respectively. The three hospitals that reported the most TBE cases in 2014 were Inner mongolia forestry general hospital, Jiangyuan People′s hospital of Baishan city, Jilin province and Mudanjiang forestry central hospital of Heilongjiang province. The number of reported cases in these three hospitals accounted for 68.6% of the whole country. The laboratory diagnosis rate of Inner mongolia forestry general hospital was the highest (91.9%).
Conclusions
In 2014, the incidence of TBE in China has continued to rise compared with the previous two years. The geographical focus is mainly on the forest areas of Daxing′anling, Xiaoxing′anling and Changbai Mountain.

China Pharmacy 2017;28(1):87-91
OBJECTIVE:To improve the rational and scientific drug purchase quantity planned by hospital pharmacy. METH-ODS:The deficiency in present drug purchase module of hospital information system(HIS)was analyzed;the formula of planned purchase quantity was improved by incremental coefficient method,ABC analysis method and VEN analysis method. The high and low stored values and packaging volume were set to adjust planned drug purchase quantity. Based on the computer program,a one-key-getting procedure was quasi established, and five typical drugs were selected for simulation. RESULTS:Based on previous formula, the parameters representing change trend, incremental coefficient k1 and inventory coefficient k2 were added in new formu-la. The one-key-getting procedure could calculate the quantity of all drugs by simply entering the planning cycle N1 and the safe peri-od N2 of the some category drugs into the system. After simulated operation practice, compared with pre-improvement,the occupa-tion of funds was significantly decreased and the quantity of drug was rounded off according to package in post-improvement. CON-CLUSIONS:Through function improvement of drug purchase module in HIS and the quasi establishment of one-key-getting pur-chase mode, planned drug purchase quantity is more reasonable, scientific and accurate. It ensures the clinical drug supply in time without causing a backlog, and effectively reduces the cost of manpower, material and capital.
