Objective:
To investigate the coexistence of comorbidity of myopia, overweight/obesity and depressive symptoms among middle school students in Quzhou and its associated factors, so as to provide evidence for integrated prevention and control of common multiple health issues in students.
Methods:
From September to November 2023, a total of 5 867 middle school students from 6 counties (cities and districts) in Quzhou City were selected by stratified random cluster sampling. Physical and visual examinations were conducted, and the Center for Epidemiological Studies - Depression Scale (CES-D) along with a questionnaire on health status and influencing factors were completed. Multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the related factors of coexistence of myopia, overweight/obesity, and depressive symptoms among middle school students, and a nomogram model was constructed based on the results.
Results:
A total of 161 middle school students in Quzhou City were identified as having comorbid myopia, overweight/ obesity and depressive symptoms, with a detection rate of 2.74%. The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the coexistence of myopia, overweight/obesity and depressive symptoms increased among middle school students with older age ( OR =1.11), a greater number unhealthy dietary behaviors (1,2,≥3; OR =2.40, 2.70, 4.63), insufficient sleep( OR =1.78) and alcohol consumption ( OR =2.11)(all P <0.05). Compared with no homework after class, those whose homework duration after class was 1 to < 2 hour had a lower risk of comorbidity of myopia, overweight/obesity and depressive symptoms ( OR =0.53, P <0.05). The results of the nomogram model showed that the AUC (95% CI ) was 0.71 (0.67-0.74).
Conclusions
The coexistence of myopia, overweight/obesity and depressive symptoms among middle school students in Quzhou City is related to age, sleeping, alcohol consumption, poor dietary behavior and the duration of after school homework. The nomogram model can assist in the early screening and intervention of multiple health issues among students.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, but there is currently a lack of accurate prognos-tic assessment systems. The Naples Prognostic Score(NPS)is a prognostic prediction system that incorporates inflammatory and nutritional indicators. It has been proven to have important clinical utility in predicting the prognosis of patients with malignancies such as colon cancer, gallbladder cancer, endometrial cancer, and lung cancer. In recent years, research has found that NPS may be superior to TNMstaging in predicting the prognosis of breast cancer patients. It is an independent predictor of overall sur-vival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS)in breast cancer patients. This suggests that NPS has great potential for applica-tion in predicting the prognosis of breast cancer.

Objective To compare the differences in gut microbiota between cirrhosis patients receiving transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)and those not,and explore the relationship between TIPS surgery and gut microbiota in order to provide new ideas for improving the prognosis of cirrhosis patients after TIPS surgery based on gut microbiota. Methods Those who had received TIPS surgery previously were assigned into the operation group, and those without the surgery served as the control group.Their stool samples were collected for 16S rRNA sequencing, and the correlation between gut microbiota and clinical indicators was analyzed. Results There were no significant differences in gender, age, body mass index(BMI),etiology and other baseline data between the 2 groups(P>0.05),but obvious differences were observed in clinical serological indicators between them, including INR,APTT,RBC and PT counts, and HGB,ALP,ALB,total bilirubin(TBIL),and URE levels(P<0.05).No statistical difference in alpha diversity was observed between the operation group and the control group(P>0.05),but beta diversity was obviously different(P<0.01),among which Bacteroides was increased in the operation group(P<0.01)and Bifidobacterium was increased in the control group(P<0.05).The function prediction analysis of gut microbiota showed that the metabolism of D-glutamine and D-glutamate(P<0.05)and biosynthesis with secondary bile acids(P<0.05)were up-regulated in the operation group compared with the control group.Correlation analysis between clinical indicators and flora indicated that TBIL and direct bilirubin(DBIL)were significantly correlated with the metabolic pathways of Bacteroides and Secondary bile acids biosynthesis. Conclusion Characteristic changes in gut microbiota are found in cirrhosis patients with and without TIPS surgery.Bacteroides may be involved in the regulation of metabolism of bile acids and thus increase bilirubin level.

Objective:To investigate the effect of high glucose on intracellular cholesterol content in rat glomerular mesangial cells and the underlying mechanism. Methods:Rat glomerular mesangial cells were cultured in vitro and divided into high glucose culture group (high glucose group, medium glucose concentration of 30 mmol/L) and normal glucose culture group (normal group, medium glucose concentration of 5.5 mmol/L). Lipid content was determined by oil red O staining and spectrophotometer colorimetry at 24, 36 and 48 h of culture. Intracellular protein imprinting was used to detect the expression of low density lipoprotein cholesterol receptor (LDLR) and adenosine triphosphate binding cassette A1 (ABCA1). Results:Oil red O staining showed that the intracellular lipid drops in the high glucose group were less than those in the normal group at 36 h, and there was no significant difference between the two groups at 24 h and 48 h of culture. The total cholesterol (TC) and cholesterol ester (CE) in glomerular mesangial cells of rats in the high glucose group were significantly lower than those in the normal group ( P=0.028, 0.029), while there was no significant difference in the free cholesterol (FC) between the two groups ( P=0.306). There was no significant difference in TC, CE and FC between the two groups at 24 and 48 h of culture (all P>0.05). The expression of LDLR in mesangial cells of rats in high glucose group was significantly lower than that in normal group at 24, 36 and 48 h of culture ( P=0.043, 0.004, 0.028), and the expression of ABCA1 was significantly higher than that in normal group at 24, 36 and 48 h of culture, ( P=0.050, 0.009, 0.006). Conclusions:High glucose may reduce intracellular cholesterol content in rat glomerular mesangial cells by reducing LDLR protein expression and increasing ABCA1 protein expression.
