Objective To systematically evaluate the economic burden of echinococcosis patients in western China using meta-analysis, so as to provide insights into formulation of effective echinococcosis control strategies and optimization of medical resource allocation. Methods Articles pertaining to the economic burden of echinococcosis patients in western China were retrieved in international and Chinese databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang Data, and VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodicals Full-Text Database. Studies were screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the basic characteristics of included articles, characteristics of included studies, and echinococcosis patients’ economic burden were extracted. A meta-analysis was performed using the software R package. The pooled effect size and heterogeneity were examined using a random effects model, and subgroup analyses were conducted. Results A total of 13 articles were enrolled, including 12 Chinese publications and one English publication, and all were retrospective studies. Included studies covered 4 western provinces (autonomous regions) of China, including Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province, and Qinghai Province, which involved 11 282 echinococcosis patients, and the study period spanned from 2006 to 2023. Meta-analysis showed that the pooled direct medical costs of echinococcosis patients were 24 730 [95% confidence interval (CI): (13 040, 36 430)] Yuan in endemic areas of western China, appearing a significant heterogeneity (I² = 79.95%, P < 0.01). Subgroup analyses showed the pooled direct medical costs of 9 090 [95% CI: (-4 970, 23 150)] Yuan for echinococcosis patients in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and 18 140 [95% CI: (8 440, 27 840)] Yuan in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and pooled direct medical costs of 9 470 [95% CI: (-1 850, 20 790)] Yuan for cystic echinococcosis patients prior to 2007 and 15 270 [95% CI: (560, 24 030)] Yuan after 2007, respectively. There were high heterogeneities in the pooled direct medical costs for echinococcosis patients in terms of date of publication (I² = 82.05%, P < 0.001), treatment modality (I² = 83.28%, P < 0.001) and type of echinococcosis (I² = 72.63%, P < 0.001). In addition, the pooled indirect medical costs and direct non-medical costs were 5 670 Yuan and 4 000 Yuan for echinococcosis patients in western regions of China, respectively. Conclusions Echinococcosis patients suffer from a high economic burden in endemic areas of western China, and there are disparities in the direct medical costs for echinococcosis patients depending on disease type, study areas and study period.

Objective:To analyze and compare the interfractional setup errors between two body posi-tioning fixation methods(lithotomy position with carbon fiber full-body fixation frame vs.conventional carbon fiber body fixation frame combined with thermoplastic membrane)in radical radiotherapy for pros-tate cancer,and to calculate the clinical target volume(CTV)to planning target volume(PTV)margin(MPTV)for both methods to optimize immobilization techniques and radiotherapy workflows.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 37 consecutive patients who underwent radical prostate radio-therapy at Peking University First Hospital between August 2021 and March 2023.The patients were di-vided into two groups based on the immobilization method:Group A(18 patients,450 CBCT image sets)used a carbon fiber whole-body fixator in the lithotomy position,while Group B(19 patients,461 CBCT image sets)used a conventional carbon fiber fixator combined with a thermoplastic mask.All the patients underwent daily cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)image guidance.Bone registration combined with manual registration was used to obtain the setup error data in the left-right(X),cranio-caudal(Y)and anterior-posterior(Z)directions.The positioning errors of the two groups were compared by using the independent sample t-test,the Mann-Whitney U test and the chi-square test.The average positioning error,systematic positioning error(Σ)and random positioning error(δ)were calculated,and the CTV-PTV extension distance was calculated by using the(MPTV=2.5Σ+0.7δ).Results:The analysis of the setup errors in the three-dimensional direction showed significant differences between the two groups(all P＜0.01).Specifically,the median(quartile)absolute values of the errors in the X,Y,and Z di-rections of group A were[0.40(0.20,0.70)cm,0.50(0.30,0.80)cm,and 0.35(0.20,0.60)cm],respectively.In group B,the corresponding values were significantly reduced to[0.20(0.10,0.40)cm,0.40(0.20,0.70)cm and 0.20(0.10,0.40)cm].The results of Mann-Whitney U test showed that the differences in each direction were highly statistically significant(X:z=-6.86;Y:z=-2.76;Z:z=-5.71).The cumulative distribution ratio of the setup error displacement within 0.5 cm in the X,Y,and Z directions in group A and group B were 297(66.0％)and 408(88.5％)(P＜0.01),250(55.6％)and 285(61.8％)(P=0.055),308(68.4％)and 391(84.8％)(P＜0.01),re-spectively.The CTV-PTV margins in three directions were X 0.66 cm in group A and 0.35 cm in group B;Y0.67 cm and 0.45 cm;Z 0.54 cm and 0.42 cm.Conclusion:Conventional carbon fiber human body fixator combined with thermoplastic film can significantly reduce the setup error.However,the car-bon fiber whole-body fixator in the lithotomy position demonstrated larger setup errors in the X,Y,and Z directions compared with the conventional fixator combined with a thermoplastic mask,indicating the need for further workflow optimization.Given that the lithotomy position is essential for transperineal ultrasound-guided techniques,further research and improvements are required to achieve higher positioning accuracy.

Objective To investigate the differences of language abilities between children with developmental delay(DD)and those with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)aged 3-6 years,and to provide references for clinical differential diagnosis and subsequent rehabilitation therapy.Methods In this study,61 cases of DD children and 61 cases of ASD chil-dren were selected.The language ability of children was assessed using the"Children's Language Ability Assessment Stand-ards and Methods",which evaluated grammar,comprehension,expression and communication abilities.Results Children with DD showed better comprehension and social skills but weaker grammar and expressive abilities.Children with ASD generally had lower levels in all language areas.There was no significant difference in the average language ability or expres-sive ability the two groups(P＞0.05),but the language comprehension ability and communication ability of the ASD group were significantly lower than those of the DD group(P＜0.05).The grammar ability of the ASD group was higher than that of the DD group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The levels of different language areas of children with DD and ASD children are significantly different.Language ability tests can assist in the differential diagnosis of DD and ASD children,and provide reference for language rehabilitation training.

Hemorrhagic shock is a common clinical emergency that can aggravate cell injury after resuscitation. Astrocytes are crucial for the survival of neurons because they regulate the surrounding ionic microenvironment of neurons. Although hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation (HSR) injury can impair cognition, it remains unclear how this insult directly affects astrocytes. In this study, we established an HSR model by bleeding and re-transfusion in mice. The social interaction test and new object recognition test were applied to evaluate post-operative cognitive changes, and the results suggest that mice experience cognitive impairment following exposure to HSR. In the HSR group, the power spectral density of β and γ oscillations decreased, and the coupling of the θ oscillation phase and γ oscillation amplitude was abnormal, which indicated abnormal neuronal oscillation and cognitive impairment after HSR exposure. In brief, cognitive impairment in mice is strongly correlated with Ca²⁺ signal strength in lateral septum astrocytes following HSR.

Methods : 36 rats were randomly divided into a blank group , a model group , a positive control group , and low , medium , and high dose groups of puerarin. Except for the blank group , the other groups were induced with type Ⅱ collagen to establish a RA rat model. After successful modeling , different doses of puerarin and methotrexate were given to treat the rats. The body mass and toe thickness of the rats were measured , and biochemical indicators of rat blood rheology were detected. X-ray was used to observe changes in rat joint morphology. Safranin green staining were used to observe the pathology of rat joint tissue. Results: Compared with the blank group , the model group had the lowest toe thickness , and X-ray images showed more obvious segmental stenosis and more severe marginal bone invasion ; scaly like changes appeared at the edges of joints stained with safranin green , accompanied by the exudation of inflammatory cells and increased proliferation and secretion of chondrocytes ; the expression levels of inflammatory factors IL-9 and rheumatoid factors were the highest , and the expression levels of AKT and FOXO1 proteins were the highest (P < 0. 05) . Compared with the model group , the toe thickness of rats treated with different doses of puerarin decreased ; X-ray images showed that the puerarin treatment group of rats showed improvement in plantar joint stenosis and marginal bone invasion ; the results of safranin green staining showed that after treatment with different doses of puerarin , the infiltration of inflammatory cells decreased , and the expression levels of inflammatory factor IL-9 , rheumatoid factors , AKT , and FOXO1 proteins decreased significantly ( P < 0. 05 ) , with the high-dose puerarin group showing the most significant difference. Compared with the high-dose puerarin group , the positive control group showed a significant decrease in the above results and statistical differences (P < 0. 05) . Conclusion Puerarin has a good therapeutic effect on rats with RA by inhibiting the AKT-FOXO1-IL-9 pathway. The high-dose puerarin group (60 mg/kg) has the best therapeutic effect and the results show a dose-response relationship.

AIM: To investigate the impact of corneal fluorescein sodium(NaF)staining on the examination results of iTrace visual function analyzer(iTrace).METHODS: Prospective cohort study. Totally 100 patients(100 eyes)with ametropia who visited the outpatient department of Anhui Eye Hospital from April to November 2024 were recruited. They were divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 50 patients(50 eyes, and only the right eyes were selected for inclusion)in each group. In the experimental group, corneal staining was performed using fluorescein sodium staining test strips, while in the control group, 1 drop of 0.9% normal saline was instilled into the eyes. The iTrace examination was conducted before the intervention and at 5, 10, and 20 min after the intervention. The total corneal higher-order aberrations, spherical aberration, coma aberration, trefoil aberration, best sphere value(RO value), asphericity factor(Q value), and corneal vertical refractive power difference(IS value)at each time of examination were recorded and compared.RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference in the baseline levels between the two groups(all P>0.05). Intra-group comparison revealed that the total higher-order aberrations, spherical aberration, coma aberration, and trefoil aberration measured 5 min after NaF staining in the experimental group were significantly increased compared with those before staining(all P<0.05). Inter-group comparison showed that the changes(differences from the baseline)in the total corneal higher-order aberrations, spherical aberration, coma aberration, and trefoil aberration measured by iTrace 5 min after the intervention in the experimental group were significantly greater than those in the control group(all P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the changes(differences from the baseline)of various iTrace parameters measured at 10 and 20 min after the intervention between the two groups(all P>0.05). There was no statistical significance in the RO value, Q value, and IS value in the two groups(all P>0.05).CONCLUSION: Corneal NaF staining can cause a short-term increase in the wavefront aberration values(total corneal higher-order aberrations, spherical aberration, coma aberration, trefoil aberration)measured by iTrace, and it gradually disappears with the passage of time. However, it has no impact on the measurement of corneal topography parameters(RO value, Q value, IS value).

OBJECTIVE To observe the changes of serum proteins in the mice with carbapenem-resistant hyperviru-lent Klebsiella pneumoniae(CR-hvKP)bloodstream infection by using liquid chromatogram-mass spectrometer(LC-MS),find out the differentially expressed proteins and carry out corresponding biological function analysis.METHODS The models of ICR mice with CR-hvKP and classical Klebsiella pneumoniae(cKP)bloodstream infec-tions were established,the serum specimens were collected from the mice at 12 hours of establishment of the in-fection models and were detected by using LC-MS.The result of LC-MS was identified by using Maxquant soft-ware.The corresponding bioinformatics analysis was performed for the differentially expressed proteins.RESULTS As compared with the normal control group,there were 24 upregulated proteins and 20 downregulated proteins in CR-hvKP group.As compared with cKP group,there were 107 upregulated proteins in the CR-hvKP group.The 134 differentially expressed proteins were retrieved one by one from Uniprot database,it was found that the pro-teins were involved in biological regulation,immune process,biological interaction,movement,metabolic process,response to stimulation,signal transduction,inflammatory response,oxidative stress and angiogenesis.The signal pathway analysis involved multiple metabolism-related pathways,including complement and coagula-tion cascades,cholesterol metabolism,bacterial infection,heme clearance,and assembly,remodeling and clear-ance of plasma lipoprotein.In terms of the proteins being attached great importance,the expression levels of kal-likrein B1(KLKB1)and serpin family A(Serpina)1b were downregulated as compared with the normal control group and were upregulated as compared with the cKP group;the expression levels of serum amyloid A protein(SAA)1,SAA2,Vanin-3(VNN3)and hemoglobinβpolypeptide chain b2(HBB-b2)were upregulated as com-pared with both the cKP group and the normal control group.CONCLUSIONS The CR-hvKP bloodstream infection involves the activation and action of multiple proteins.The rise of SAA1,SAA2,VNN3 and HBB-b2 or the de-cline of KLKB1 and Serpina1b may indicate the CR-hvKP bloodstream infection.

Objective:To analyze the correlation between bone metabolism indicators,ultrasound quantitative parameters,and prediction of osteoporosis fracture risk assessment tool(FRAX)in elderly patients with osteoporosis(OP).Methods:A total of eighty elderly patients with OP who admitted to Wuxi Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine from December 2023 to December 2024 were selected.Based on the results of measuring bone quality by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA),they were divided into bone loss group(26 cases),moderate group(41 cases),and severe group(13 cases).All patients underwent measurements for N-terminal osteocalcin(N-MID OCN),total type I collagen N-terminal extended peptide(TP1NP),25 hydroxyvitamin D(25-OH VitD),parathyroid hormone(PTH),and β-collagen specific sequence(CROSSL)bone metabolism indicators when they were enrolled in groups.They underwent examinations of ultrasonic quantitative parameters included ultrasonic bone density(T value),ultrasound conduction velocity(SOS)and bone quality index(BQI),as well as FRAX prediction.The results of bone metabolism indicators,the examination of ultrasound quantitative parameter,and FRAX prediction were compared among the three groups of elderly patients with OP.Using Pearson linear correlation analysis analyzed the relationship among the three factors.Results:The N-MID OCN and 25-OH VitD levels in the severe group were lower respectively than those in the moderate group and the bone loss group,while the TP1NP,PTH,and CROSSL levels were higher than those in the moderate group and the bone less group,and the differences among the three groups were statistically significant(F=31.646,75.055,110.274,93.321,59.246,P<0.05).The T value,SOS,and BQI in the severe group were lower than those in the moderate group and the bone loss group,and the differences among the three groups were statistically significant(F=81.980,108.985,76.327,P<0.05).The levels of proximal humeral fracture(PHF)and postmenopausal osteoporosis fracture(PMOF)in the severe group were higher than those in the moderate group and the bone loss group,and the differences among the three groups were statistically significant(F=57.086,118.079,P<0.05).Pearson linear correlation analysis showed that the N-MID OCN and 25-OH VitD levels were positively correlated with T value,SOS,and BQI in elderly patients with OP(r=0.398,0.617,0.769,0.752,0.500,0.654,P<0.05),and were negatively correlated with PHF and PMOF(r=-0.504,-0.534,-0.572,-0.662,P<0.05).The TP1NP,PTH,CROSSL levels were negatively correlated with T value,SOS and BQI(r=-0.745,-0.751,-0.634,-0.733,-0.728,-0.569,-0.709,-0.648,-0.611,P<0.05),and were positively correlated with PHF and PMOF(r=0.612,0.558,0.602,0.700,0.695,0.740,P<0.05).Conclusion:The bone metabolism indicators of elderly patients with OP are correlated significantly with ultrasound quantitative parameters and FRAX prediction,which can be used as an important scheme in clinical assessment for bone strength and fracture risk.
