OBJECTIVE:
To investigate short-term effectiveness of using expert adolescent lateral femoral nail (EALFN) in treating femoral shaft fractures in older children and adolescents.
METHODS:
A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 17 patients with femoral shaft fractures who met the inclusion criteria and were admitted between July 2020 and June 2024. All fractures were fixed with EALFN after reduction. There were 11 males and 6 females, with a mean age of 13.3 years (range, 11-16 years). The average body weight was 51.2 kg (range, 40-84 kg), and the average height was 162.1 cm (range, 150-172 cm). The causes of injury included traffic accidents ( n=9), falling from height ( n=1), and simple falls ( n=7). One patient had an open fracture treated with an external fixator and experienced delayed fracture healing. The remaining patients were closed fractures, with an average time from injury to operation of 5.8 days (range, 2-10 days). Operation time and postoperative hospital stay were documented. During follow-up, X-ray films were taken to observe the fracture healing, and the bilateral femoral length, femoral neck-shaft angle, widest femoral neck diameter (FND), and articular trochanteric distance (ATD) were measured at last follow-up. Hip function was assessed using the Harris score. The differences in the all indicators between the healthy and affected sides were compared.
RESULTS:
The operation time ranged from 65 to 130 minutes (mean, 94.1 minutes). Postoperative hospital stay ranged from 5 to 40 days (mean, 16.7 days). All patients were followed up 7-36 months (mean, 14.4 months). One patient exhibited delayed fracture healing during follow-up. The distal locking nail was removed at 6 months after operation, and partial weight-bearing was initiated following dynamic fracture stabilization. The fracture healing was achieved, and the intramedullary nail was removed at 24 months after operation. The other fractures healed with the healing time of 6-20 months (mean, 9.6 months), and the intramedullary nails were removed. During follow-up, no femoral fracture, abnormal development of the greater trochanter, or ischemic necrosis of the femoral head occurred. At last follow-up, there was no significant difference in femoral length, femoral neck-shaft angle, FND, ATD, or Harris score between the affected and healthy sides ( P>0.05).
CONCLUSION
For older children and adolescents with femoral neck fractures, the application of EALFN fixation aligns more closely with the principles of intramedullary central fixation and rapid rehabilitation. This approach is associated with fewer complications and superior short-term effectiveness.

Cancer Research and Clinic 2025;37(2):93-100
Objective:To explore the effects of neutrophil extracellular traps (NET) on the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells and the related mechanisms. Methods:The peripheral blood neutrophils were separated using density gradient centrifugation, 100 nmol/L phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) was used to stimulate the formation of NET. Breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 was selected and treated with NET (NET group) or deoxyribonucleaseⅠ (DNase Ⅰ) digested NET (NET+DNase Ⅰ group),normal cultured MDA-MB-231 cells were used as the control group. In MDA-MB-231 cells of each group; cell proliferation ability was detected using CCK-8 assay; cell migration was detected by cell scratch assay and Transwell assay; real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the relative expressions of frizzled homolog 10 (FZD10), cyclin D1, E-cadherin and Vimentin immunofluorescence assay was performed to detect the formation of NET and the expressions of E-cadherin and Vimentin; Western blotting was used to detected the expression of FZD10-Wnt-β-catenin signaling pathway-related proteins. Results:Neutrophils were stimulated with PMA for 4 hours, and immunofluorescence assay results showed that NET exhibited fibrous reticular structure with high expression of citrullinated histone (citH3) and myeloperoxidase (MPO). The CCK-8 assay results showed that the absorbance values of cells in the control group, NET group and NET+DNase Ⅰ group were 1.25±0.06, 2.14±0.15 and 1.47±0.11, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F = 80.60, P < 0.001). The results of scratch assay displayed that the percentage of wound closure in the control group, NET group and NET+DNase Ⅰ group were (36.2±1.3)%, (67.2±2.0)% and (46.3±3.2)%, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F = 140.50, P < 0.001). Transwell assay indicated that the number of migrating cells in the control group, NET group and NET+DNase Ⅰ group were 317±18, 512±23 and 356±23, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F = 75.39, P < 0.001). qRT-PCR assay revealed that the relative expressions of FZD10, cyclin D1 and Vimentin mRNA in the NET group were higher than those in the control group, while the relative expression of E-cadherin mRNA was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.001); the relative expressions of FZD10, cyclin D1 and Vimentin mRNA in the NET+DNase Ⅰ group were lower than those in the NET group, while the relative expression of E-cadherin mRNA was higher than that in the NET group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.001). Immunofluorescence assay indicated that the number of cells expressing Vimentin in the control group, NET group and NET+DNase Ⅰ group were 35±6, 86±13 and 51±6, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F = 24.65, P = 0.001); the number of cells expressing E-cadherin were 31±4, 11±3 and 24±2, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F = 38.36, P < 0.001). Western blotting results demonstrated that the relative expressions of FZD10, β-catenin and Vimentin proteins in the NET group were higher than those in the control group, while the relative expression of E-cadherin protein was lower than that in the control group; the relative expressions of FZD10, β-catenin and Vimentin proteins in the NET+DNase Ⅰ group were lower than those in the NET group, while the relative expression of E-cadherin protein was higher than that in the NET group. Conclusions:NET may promote the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells by upregulating the expression of FZD10 and subsequently activating the Wnt-β-catenin signal pathway.

Patients with severe trauma require an extremely timely treatment and transfusion plays an irreplaceable role in the emergency treatment of such patients. An increasing number of evidence-based medicinal evidences and clinical practices suggest that patients with severe traumatic bleeding benefit from early transfusion of low-titer group O whole blood or hemostatic resuscitation with red blood cells, plasma and platelet of a balanced ratio. However, the current domestic mode of blood supply cannot fully meet the requirements of timely and effective blood transfusion for emergency treatment of patients with severe trauma in clinical practice. In order to solve the key problems in blood supply and blood transfusion strategies for emergency treatment of severe trauma, Branch of Clinical Transfusion Medicine of Chinese Medical Association, Group for Trauma Emergency Care and Multiple Injuries of Trauma Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Young Scholar Group of Disaster Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association organized domestic experts of blood transfusion medicine and trauma treatment to jointly formulate Chinese expert consensus on blood support mode and blood transfusion strategies for emergency treatment of severe trauma patients ( version 2024). Based on the evidence-based medical evidence and Delphi method of expert consultation and voting, 10 recommendations were put forward from two aspects of blood support mode and transfusion strategies, aiming to provide a reference for transfusion resuscitation in the emergency treatment of severe trauma and further improve the success rate of treatment of patients with severe trauma.

Chinese Critical Care Medicine 2022;34(6):561-570
The global coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic is still in a pandemic state. Aging population with underlying diseases is prone to become severe, and have a higher mortality. The treatment capacity of the critical care department directly determines the treatment success rate of critical illness. At present, there is still a certain gap between domestic and foreign countries in intensive care unit (ICU), which is not only in the allocation of medical staff, but also in the beds and settings. The current medical model cannot fully meet the needs of development. The experience and lessons of many major public health emergencies suggested that " dual track of peace and war" approach in discipline construction of critical care is the best medical model. Following the concept of "combination of peace and war", strengthening the discipline construction of critical care department in municipal and district designated hospitals, allocating reasonable standard ICU, step-down ICU and combat readiness ICU, establishing rapid response team, and strengthening regular training and scientific management may be the key measures to deal with the epidemic.

【Objective】 To explore the surgical characteristics and clinical efficacy of percutaneous endoscopic visualization trephine for thoracic spinal stenosis. 【Methods】 We made a retrospective analysis of 37 patients with single-segment thoracic spinal stenosis treated with percutaneous endoscopic visualization trephine from January 2019 to June 2020. Among them, there were 14 males and 23 females; their age ranged from 31 to 82 years old, with an average of (57.6±11.8) years old. Their posture, length of hospital stay, length of operation and blood loss were recorded. The visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI) and the modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score were used to evaluate the preoperative and final conditions of patients and calculate the improvement rate. 【Results】 The operation was successfully completed in all the patients, and no patients developed epidural hematoma, incision infection or postoperative paralysis. Among the 37 patients, 24 ones with ossification of ligamentum flavum (OLF) were in the prone position, and 13 patients had lateral surgery. Among them, thoracic disc herniation (TDH) occurred in 3 cases, OPLL in 5 cases and OLF+OPLL in 5 cases. The hospital stay was (7.2±1.6) days, the operation time was (96.5±20.0) min, and the blood loss was (41.9±10.8) mL. VAS score decreased from (7.0±0.9) to (1.9±0.8); ODI improved from (41.7±2.1) to (16.1±1.7); and JOA score increased from (5.8±1.4) to (8.6±1.4). The preoperative and postoperative differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Percutaneous endoscopic visualization of thoracic spinal stenosis is treated by choosing different positions according to the type of compression. The spinal canal is fully decompressed. The surgical method is safe and minimally invasive, and the postoperative effect is satisfactory.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2021;42(6):902-905
Objective:
To explore clustering and risk factors of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) carriage among kindergarten children in Liuzhou.
Methods:
Two sided nasal swabs were collected from 1 702 children in Liuzhou from April to June 2018. Parents of all the children were investigated by questionnaires. The random effect Logistic regression was used to analyze the clustering and risk factors of S. aureus carriage.
Results:
The carriage rate of S. aureus among kindergarten children was 16.3%. The randomeffect Logistic regression model indicated that the class-level random effect of S. aureus carriage among children was statistically significant(Z=2.12, P<0.01). Children aged 6 to 7 years (OR=2.18, 95%CI=1.45-3.27) and 5 years (OR=1.65, 95%CI=1.08-2.50) had higher carriage rates of S. aureus than those aged 3-4 years. The history of antibiotic using (OR=1.45, 95%CI=1.05-2.01) and skin and soft tissue infections (OR=1.36, 95%CI=1.04-1.79) in the previous year were risk factors of S. aureus carriage among children.
Conclusion
The class level clustering of S. aureus carriage is observed in healthy children. Age, history of antibiotic usage and history of skin and soft tissue infections are associated with risk of S. aureus carriage among preschool children.
