Medical imaging technology plays a crucial role in clinical diagnosis and treatment. Image compression technology provides robust technical support for the storage and transmission of massive medical imaging data, serving as an effective safeguard for hospital data backup and telemedicine. The technology holds broad application prospects in the medical field, enabling the processing of various imaging modalities, multidimensional imaging, and medical video imaging. This study elaborates on general image and video compression algorithms, the application of compression algorithms in the medical field, and the performance metrics of medical image compression, thereby providing critical technical support for enhancing clinical diagnostic efficiency and data management security.
2.Experimental Research Progress in TCM Compounds for the Prevention and Treatment of Tic Disorders

Tic disorder is a chronic neuropsychiatric disorder with complex etiology and diverse phenotypes,and its incidence has been increasing significantly in recent years.Most scholars believe that abnormalities in the cortico-striatal-thalamo-cortical circuit and its interconnected brain regions are closely related to the development of tic disorder.Chinese materia medica intervention in tic disorders is characterized by multi-targets,multi-mechanisms and holistic nature,and has a good prospect for research application.This article summarized the experimental studies of TCM compound intervention in tic disorder in recent years,which have shown that TCM compounds could reduce the damage of nerve cells through the regulation of neurotransmitters,inflammatory response,immune function and the"colony-gut-brain axis"to improve and prevent tic disorder,which could provide a reference for the research and development of new medicines for tic disorder and for the clinical research.
3.Antimicrobial resistance characteristics,phylogenetic analysis,and pathogenicity of Escherichia coli isolated from free-Range tibetan pigs in Tibet

To understand the epidemiological characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of Esche-richia coli in free-range Tibetan pig populations,fecal samples from these pigs were collected be-tween 2021 and 2023 for pathogen isolation and identification.The isolated strains underwent anal-ysis of pathogenicity categories,phylogenetic grouping,and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles,a-long with resistance gene detection and mouse pathogenicity testing.The results showed that 123 strains of E.coli were isolated from 132 fecal samples.Enteropathogenicity tests revealed that 42.28%were EAEC(52/123),7.32%were EPEC(9/123),and 3.25%were STEC/EHEC(4/123).Phylogenetic analysis indicated that 78.86%(97/123)belonged to group A,while 11.38%(14/123)belonged to group B1.Antimicrobial susceptibility tests for 22 drugs showed the highest resistance rate to amoxicillin at 98.37%(121/123),followed by sulfamethoxazole at 73.98%(91/123).Resistance rates for ampicillin,tetracycline,erythromycin,and trimethoprim ranged from 48.78%to 51.22%.Furthermore,78.86%(97/123)of the isolates were resistant to three or more antibiotics.The detection of 52 drug-resistance genes in 10 categories showed that 15 drug-resist-ance genes were detected,and the detection rate was 28.85%(15/52).Among individual resistance genes,tetA had the highest detection rate at 63.41%(78/123),followed by tetB and qnrS with de-tection rates of 48.78%(60/123)and 38.21%(47/123),respectively.This study demonstrates that EAEC is the predominant strain of E.coli in free-range Tibetan pigs,with groups A and B1 being the major phylogenetic groups.The isolates exhibited a high degree of multidrug-resistant pheno-types,and the detection rates of resistance genes were also high.E.coli carrying virulence genes cause different degrees of pathological changes in the mouse ileum.The research results have sig-nificant public health implications and provide theoretical basis for the prevention,treatment,and clinical medication of E.coli disease in Tibetan pigs.
4.Establishment and Evaluation of A Forecasting Model for Platelet Transfusion Efficacy in Patients with Hematological Disorders

Objective To establish the therapeutic effect prediction model of platelet transfusion in hematological patients,and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and clinical cases are used to evaluate the clinical application value of the predic-tion model.Methods A total of 485 patients with hematological diseases who received platelet transfusion therapy in Kailuan General Hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 were selected,corrected count increment(CCI)was used to divide the patients into platelet transfusion effective group(n=340)and transfusion ineffective group(n=145).Multivariate Logistic regres-sion analysis was used to establish the prediction model of platelet infusion efficacy,and ROC curve was used to evaluate the application effect of the forcasting model.109 clinical cases were used to verify the practical application effect of the model,and the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy were calculated.Results Among 485 patients with hematological diseases,the incidence of ineffective platelet transfusion was 29.90%(145/485).Compated with the effective group,the ineffective group had more previous platelet transfusions was higher,and the difference was statistically significant(t=-4.435,P<0.05).In the ineffective group,there were more cases of hyperplenism,aplastic anemia and lymphoma,higher infection rate and higher positive rate of platelet antibody,and the differences were statistically significant(χ2=6.301~37.522,all P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regres-sion analysis found that previous platelet infusion times,infection,leukemia,aplastic anemia and platelet antibodies were risk factors for ineffective platelet transfusion in patients with hematological diseases(Wald χ2=5.224~21.548,all P<0.05).Based on these risk factors,platelet infusion effect prediction models 1 and 2 were constructed.ROC curve was used to evaluate the application effect of the prediction model.The area under the curve(AUC),cut-offpoint,sensitivity and specificity of model 1 were 0.884,0.042,82.35%,88.89%.The AUC,cut-offpoint,corresponding sensitivity and specificity of prediction model 2 were 0.910,59.784,81.18%,94.44%,respectively.The Z values of model 1 and model 2 were 12.159 and 13.151,respectively.The prediction effect of model 2 was better than that of model 1.The actual application results showed that the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of prediction model 1,2 were 85.71%,92.05%,90.89%and 90.48%,93.18%,92.66%,respectively.Conclusion The ineffective rate of platelet transfusion in hematological patients is relatively high.The prediction models 1 and 2 for platelet transfusion effectiveness have good results in predicting ineffective platelet transfusion,and prediction model 2 is better than pre-diction model 1,which can provide reliable basis for hematological patients on accurate platelet transfusion.
5.Relationship between blood pressure and cognitive decline:a 4-year community-based prospective cohort study

Objective To explore the relationship between blood pressure at baseline and significant decline in cognitive function after 4 years in middle-aged and elderly people in rural Xi'an,and the potential effect of age on the relationship.Methods Data were collected from a cohort of middle-aged and elderly people with cognitive impairment in rural Xi'an,Shaanxi Province.The cohort consisted of people aged≥40 years from a village in Huyi District,Xi'an.The baseline survey was completed between October 2014 and March 2015,and two follow-up visits were conducted in 2016 and 2018.Blood pressure parameters studied included hypertension and high systolic blood pressure(≥140 mmHg vs.<140 mmHg),and high diastolic blood pressure(≥90 mmHg vs.<90 mmHg).The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)was used to assess the whole cognitive function,and the decline of MMSE score ≥4 points in 4 years was defined as significant decline of cognitive function.Multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between blood pressure and cognitive function at baseline.Subgroup analysis was used to study the effect of age(<65 vs.≥65 years)on the relationship.Results We recruited a total of 1 350 subjects in the analysis,including 235 subjects(17.4%)with baseline age ≥65 years and 533 male subjects(39.5%);671 subjects(49.7%)had hypertension,with systolic blood pressure of(131.71±17.79)mmHg;840 subjects(62.2%)had high systolic blood pressure,with diastolic blood pressure of(82.18±10.56)mmHg;395(29.3%)had high diastolic blood pressure.During the 4-year follow-up,56 cases(4.2%)met the criteria for significant decline of cognitive function.We did not find significant association of hypertension and high systolic blood pressure with cognitive decline in the general population,<65-year-old subgroup,or ≥ 65-year-old subgroup.The incidence of significant cognitive decline was not statistically significant in the total population(3.6%vs.5.6%,P=0.092),the ≥65-year-old subgroup(7.5%vs.8.2%,P=0.855),the normal diastolic blood pressure group,or the high diastolic blood pressure group.However,in the subgroup<65 years,the incidence of cognitive decline was higher in the high diastolic blood pressure group than in the normal diastolic blood pressure group(2.7%vs.5.1%,P=0.043).Multivariate analysis showed that high diastolic blood pressure was not found to be associated with significant cognitive decline in the total population(OR=1.744,95%CI:0.953-3.192,P=0.071),the subgroup of ≥65 years old(OR=0.858,95%CI:0.221-3.338,P=0.825),or the subgroup of ≥65 years old.In the<65 age group,high diastolic blood pressure was significantly associated with cognitive decline(OR=2.051,95%CI:1.005-4.186,P=0.048).Conclusion High diastolic blood pressure is associated with 4-year cognitive decline in people aged 40-65 years,but not in those aged ≥65.No association is found between hypertension or high systolic blood pressure and significant cognitive decline.
6.Role and mechanism of allopurinol in restoring abnormal metabolism of kynurenine to alleviate ulcerative colitis in mice

Aim To investigate the role and mecha-nism of allopurinol(ALLO)in restoring the abnormal metabolism of kynurenine(Kyn)mediated by trypto-phan-2,3-dioxygenase 2(TDO2)to ameliorate ulcera-tive colitis(UC)in mice,and to provide experimental basis for the treatment of UC by ALLO.Methods A dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)-induced mouse UC mod-el was established,and the mice were randomly divided into the control group,the model group,the ALLO low,medium and high-dose groups(10,20,and 40 mg·kg-1),and the positive-significant salazosulfapyridine(SASP)(200 mg·kg-1)group.The body mass and disease activity index(DAI)scores of mice were re-corded;HE staining was performed to observe the de-gree of pathological damage in colon tissue;Western blot was performed to detect TDO2 protein expression in colon tissue;flow cytometry was performed to detect changes in the proportion of macrophages in spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes;ELISA was employed to de-tect the levels of TNF-α,IL-1β and IL-6 pro-inflamma-tory cytokines in the supernatant of colon tissue homog-enate;high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)was used to detect the levels of tryptophan(Trp)and Kyn in the supernatant of colon tissue ho-mogenate.Results Compared with the model group,ALLO administration significantly ameliorated colonic histopathological injury in UC mice,decreased the pro-portion of macrophages in spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes,down-regulated the levels of TNF-α,IL-1 β,and IL-6 pro-inflammatory factors in serum of homogenate of colonic tissues,and inhibited the activity(Kyn/Trp ratio)and expression of TDO2 in colonic tissues.Con-clusion ALLO improves disease manifestations in mice with ulcerative colitis,which may be related to its restoration of abnormal Kyn metabolism.

9.Robotic surgery at the forefront:highlights from the 97th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association 2025

The 97th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association was held from March 12 to March 14,2025,in Nagoya,Japan.The conference was chaired by Professor Kazuhiro Uyama from Fujita Medical University and attracted nearly 2 000 scholars from around the world,including Japan,China,the republic of Korea,the United States,and Europe.With the theme of"Digital Innovation in Gastric Tumors,"the conference focused on the application of artificial intelligence,robotic surgery,and other innovations in the treatment of gastric cancer.It explored how high-precision and highly reproducible robotic surgical techniques are transforming traditional approaches to gastric cancer surgery,along with topics such as digital innovation,future medical policies,and strategies that herald a new era in healthcare.The meeting featured one main venue and 60 sub-venues with different themes,ultimately accepting 1 003 submissions.A total of 158 oral presentations covering 80 topics and 203 poster presentations were delivered.Among them,approximately 145 lectures were related to robotic surgery for gastric cancer,and when including poster presentations,nearly 255 topics were associated with gastric cancer robotic surgery.Additionally,the 7th edition of the Japanese Gastric Cancer Treatment Guidelines was released during the meeting.Our team had the honor of participating in this prestigious event.Drawing from our experience at both this conference and the 17th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Robotic Surgery held in Utsunomiya,Japan,from March 7 to March 8,2025,we provide a detailed report on the latest advancements in robotic surgery for gastric cancer,hoping to offer valuable insights and references for fellow surgeons both in China and abroad.
10.Value of ultrasound radiomics in re-evaluating the benign or malignant of Bethesda Ⅲ nodules

Objective To construct a combined model integrating ultrasonic features and radiomics derived from ultrasound images,and to evaluate its diagnostic performance in re-assessing the benign or malignant nature of Bethesda Ⅲ nodules.Methods A retrospective study was carried out on 442 patients with thyroid nodules classified as Bethesda Ⅲ after fine-needle aspiration biopsy(FNAB)between January 2019 and September 2024.All patients had undergone surgical pathology.The patients were randomly allocated into a training set and a testing set at a ratio of 7∶3.Relevant clinical characteristics were gathered,and regions of interest(ROI)were outlined on the most suspicious slice of the lesion prior to biopsy.Ultrasound radiomics features were extracted,key radiomics features were selected,and radiomics scores(Rad-score)were computed.The ultrasound model,radiomics model,and combined model were constructed.Subsequently,the diagnostic efficacy and clinical application value of each model were evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)and decision curve analysis(DCA).Results Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis findings indicated that microcalci-fication,irregular margin,and Rad-score were independent risk factors for the malignant transformation of BethesdaⅢ nodules.In the testing set,the AUC values of the ultrasound model,radiomics model,and combined model were 0.76,0.71,and 0.81,respectively.The calibration curve of the combined model revealed a good consistency between the predicted values and the actual outcomes.The DCA of the testing set demonstrated that the combined model exhibited high clinical utility.Conclusion The combined model,established based on ultrasonic features and ultrasound radiomics,provides a higher predictive value for evaluating the malignancy risk of Bethesda Ⅲ nodules.
