Esophageal cancer is a prevalent malignant tumor of the digestive tract in China, and radical surgery remains the cornerstone of its comprehensive treatment. However, multifactorial challenges such as postoperative gastrointestinal tract reconstruction, traumatic stress, and tumor-related metabolic disturbances render esophageal cancer patients highly susceptible to malnutrition. Perioperative nutritional support therapy plays a crucial role in enhancing surgical safety, improving clinical outcomes, and elevating patients' quality of life by regulating metabolic homeostasis, preserving organ function, and optimizing the immune microenvironment. This article reviews the mechanisms underlying malnutrition in esophageal cancer, methods for nutritional status assessment, and precision intervention pathways based on multi-omics evaluations. The aim is to strengthen clinicians' awareness of standardized perioperative nutritional management for esophageal cancer patients and promote its clinical implementation, thereby facilitating postoperative recovery and improving long-term quality of life.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore clinical effect of autologous osteochondral transplantation (AOT) in the treatment of recurrent anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint with glenoid cartilage defect in rabbits by establishing a model of recurrent anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint with < 20% glenoid cartilage defect in rabbits.
METHODS:
Twenty-four male New Zealand white rabbits, aged 6-month-old, weighed (2.69±0.17) kg were selected. The labrum of shoulder joint of rabbits was artificially destroyed to establish a model of recurrent anterior dislocation of shoulder joint with cartilage defect. They were divided into AOT surgery group and simple suture group, with 12 rabbits in each group. AOT group were underwent AOT surgery, while simple suture group was treated with simple Bankart suture for recurrent shoulder joint dislocation. At 6 and 12 weeks after operation, 6 rabbits between two groups were sacrificed for sampling. The dietary conditions, activity conditions, mental states of rabbits and healing conditions of grafts in the specimens were observed and compared between two groups. HE staining was used to observe cell creep, cell morphology, inflammatory cell infiltration, fibrochondrocytes and their arrangement. Masson staining was used to observe the formation and arrangement of collagen fibers; Safrane-green staining was used to observe the regeneration of articular cartilage, subchondral bone and bone tissue. Bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume (BV) and trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) between two groups were measured by Micro-CT to evaluate the remodeling of shoulder glenoid bone defects by autologous osteochondral cartilage.
RESULTS:
After different surgical interventions were carried out in both groups of rabbits, at 6 weeks after the operation, the abduction, extension, internal rotation and external rotation of the shoulder joint on the operated side showed limited range of motion compared with the contralateral side, while adduction and forward flexion showed no obvious abnormalities compared with the contralateral side. At 12 weeks after operation, the range motion of tshoulder joints in both groups of rabbits had returned to the state before modeling. The effects of HE staining, Masson staining and safrane-green staining at 12 weeks after operation in both groups were stronger than the staining results at 6 weeks after operation. Moreover, the results of HE staining, Masson staining and safranin fixation green staining in AOT group at 6 and 12 weeks after operation were all higher than those in simple suture group. Micro-CT scan results at 6 and 12 weeks after operation showed that BMD (0.427±0.014), (0.466±0.032) g·cm-3, BV(116.171±3.527), (159.327±3.500) mm3, and Tb.Th (0.230±0.006), (0.285±0.009) mm in AOT group, which were higher than those of simple suture group in BMD(0.358±0.011), (0.384±0.096) g·cm-3, BV(72.657±3.903), (118.713±3.860) mm3, and Tb.Th(0.204±0.009), (0.243±0.007) mm;and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
AOT procedure could effectively promote osteogenesis and fibrocartilage regeneration in the cartilage defect area of the shoulder glenoid <20%, which is conducive to reshaping the structure of the shoulder glenoid.

Extensive studies have identified potential adverse effects on semen quality of obesity, based on body mass index, but the association between body fat distribution, a more relevant indicator for obesity, and semen quality remains less clear. We conducted a longitudinal study of 4304 sperm donors from the Guangdong Provincial Human Sperm Bank (Guangzhou, China) during 2017-2021. A body composition analyzer was used to measure total and local body fat percentage for each participant. Generalized estimating equations were employed to assess the association between body fat percentage and sperm count, motility, and morphology. We estimated that each 10% increase in total body fat percentage (estimated change [95% confidence interval, 95% CI]) was significantly associated with a 0.18 × 10 6 (0.09 × 10 6 -0.27 × 10 6 ) ml and 12.21 × 10 6 (4.52 × 10 6 -19.91 × 10 6 ) reduction in semen volume and total sperm count, respectively. Categorical analyses and exposure-response curves showed that the association of body fat distribution with semen volume and total sperm count was stronger at higher body fat percentages. In addition, the association still held among normal weight and overweight participants. We observed similar associations for upper limb, trunk, and lower limb body fact distributions. In conclusion, we found that a higher body fat distribution was significantly associated with lower semen quality (especially semen volume) even in men with a normal weight. These findings provide useful clues in exploring body fat as a risk factor for semen quality decline and add to evidence for improving semen quality for those who are expected to conceive.

Ethanol detection plays an important role in food industry, environmental monitoring, medical health monitoring, prevention of drunk driving, etc. The development of low-cost,high-performance ethanol sensors has important application value. In this study,a ZnO/FeS nano heterojunction ethanol sensor was prepared on commercial ceramic silver electrode substrate. The sensing characteristics of the sensor for ethanol gas were systematically studied. The results showed that ZnO had a nanowire structure, and the FeS was coated on the ZnO nanowire in the form of nanosheets. The sensor performed well for ethanol detection in environments with relative humidity ranging from 30%to 60%,with a detection range from 0.2 mg/m3 to 50 mg/m3.At the optimum operating temperature of 300℃,the response of ZnO/FeS nano heterojunction sensor to 50 mg/m3 ethanol was 15.6,the response time was 5.0 s,and the detection limit was as low as 0.101 mg/m3,which was obviously better than that of commercial ethanol sensor. This sensor was highly selective for ethanol compared to other gases such as CO,NH3,acetone,etc,and could steadily work for 30 days. The fabricated sensor had good development potential in the field of low-cost and high-performance ethanol gas detection.

Nano/microplastics(NMPs),due to their environmental persistence and resistance to degradation, have emerged as a major contributor to global pollution.NMPs are capable of adsorbing various hazardous chemicals and heavy metals, thereby posing threats to aquatic ecosystem health, which may ultimately cause potential risks to human health.Conventional analytical methods suffered from limited resolution, insufficient chemical information,or destruction of sample, invalidating these assays for on-site detection of NMPs.Surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)offers distinct advantages such as high sensitivity, superior specificity, rich fingerprint information, and non-destructive analysis, thus facilitating the on-site analysis of NMPs in complex matrices. This review summarized recent advances in SERS substrates for detection of NMPs,discussed the construction and applications of SERS-based multimodal detection strategies, and introduced the research progress of SERS detection of NMPs in food safety, environmental pollution, and bioanalysis. Moreover, the main challenges and future directions of SERS-based NMP detection were outlined.

Objective West Nile virus(WNV)is one of the most common mosquito-borne zoonotic viruses worldwide, with unique transmission dynamics and varied hosts.Lots of ecological and host factors have been reported to influence the host adaptation and transmission of WNVs,however, general genomic features of WNVs are less focused, except for some exact host-specific genotypes at molecular level.Artificial intelligence that analyzes genome composition characteristics currently shows significant advantages in identifying and predicting viral host adaptability. This research aimed to establish a convolutional neural network(CNN)model to predict the host adaptability of WNVs based on general genomic features. Methods Presently available WNV gene sequences were embedded for their genomic features with an embedding approach of dinucleotide composition representation(DCR).And DCR-based distribution difference of WNV samples among various hosts was performed with unsupervised learning methods. Then a classification model was built with a convolutional neural network(CNN)framework based on genomic DCR to evaluate the adaptation of the WNVs from birds, mammals and mosquitos.Additionally,host-specific amino acids in WNV proteins were inferred via Bayes method. Results DCR features could effectively distinguish host-specific WNVs.The trained CNN model predicted accurately mammalian susceptible WNVs from avian susceptible WNVs,however, much less accurately for mosquito/mammalian WNVs.Such predicted host adaptation was interpreted as host specified significance of biased amino acid distribution on the bayes-inferred sites in WNV proteins, implying a possible high significance of these sites for WNV adaptive phenotypes. Conclusions Genomic compositional features of WNVs are host-specific,and such genomic bias facilitates predicting the adaptation of WNVs to avian or mammalian hosts via deep learning methods.DCR-based decomposition is helpful to recognize the high risk of infecting mammals of WNVs.The present study provides a general knowledge of genomic features contributing to host adaptation to WNVs.
