Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is characterized by congenital vaginal hypoplasia and primordial uterus caused by Müllerian anomalies. Case reports concerning adenomyosis associated with MRKH syndrome are limited, and the formation and intervention of adenomyosis without endometrium are unclear. Here, we present the case of a patient with MRKH syndrome complicated with adenomyosis without endometrium, a hypoechoic solid mass next to the right ovary. According to the intraoperative observation and histopathological examination findings, the mass were diagnosed as adenomyosis of the primordial uterus. Moreover, our report provides insights about its mechanism of occurrence and interventions in MRKH syndrome combined with adenomyosis without endometrium.

Nanometal materials have been extensively studied due to their non-toxic,stable,and efficient biological properties.Among them,nano-zinc oxide(ZnO-NPs),which exhibits good biocompatibility,is considered a promising antibacterial material for medical applications due to its broad-spectrum antibacterial effects and photocatalytic activity.The antibacterial mechanism of ZnO-NPs is not yet fully understood,but two widely recognized modes have been proposed:one is a non-contact mechanism dominated by reactive oxygen species(ROS)generated by ZnO-NPs and the release of Zn2+,and the other is a direct contact antibacterial mechanism involving the interaction between ZnO-NPs and bacterial cell wall components.These two distinct antibacterial mechanisms are attributed to the physicochemical properties of ZnO-NPs.As a wide-bandgap semiconductor,the antibacterial efficacy of ZnO-NPs is influenced not only by light exposure but also by factors such as particle size,concentration,morphology,as well as the type and structure of the target bacteria.Therefore,understanding the precise mechanisms is crucial for elucidating the antibacterial functions of ZnO-NPs against bacteria and fungi.This review summarizes the latest research progress on the antibacterial mechanisms of ZnO-NPs and their influencing factors,and provides an overview of the factors affecting the antibacterial performance of ZnO-NPs,offering a basis for a deeper understanding and application of ZnO-NPs in antibacterial therapy.

Objective To explore the mechanism underlying the anti-hemorrhoid effects of Qingji Liangxue mixture(QLM).Methods Models of acute hemorrhoid in rats were established using a croton oil preparation(COP)and glacial acetic acid.A total of 80 SD female rats were randomly divided into two major groups:the COP group and the glacial acetic acid group,each consisting of 40 rats.In the COP group,rats were further randomly assigned to the following subgroups:control group 1(group CA),model group 1(group CB),low-dose QLM group 1-1(group CC),high-dose QLM group 1-2(group CD),and diosmin group 1(group CE),with eight rats in each subgroup.In the glacial acetic acid group,rats were randomly divided into the following subgroups:control group 2(group GA),model group 2(group GB),low-dose QLM group 2-1(group GC),high-dose QLM group 2-2(group GD),and diosmin group 2(group GE),with eight rats in each subgroup.Except for the control groups,all other subgroups were treated with COP or glacial acetic acid then treated with various drugs for 7 days.HE staining was used to observe anorectal histomorphology induced by COP and glacial acetic acid.ELIS As were used to measure serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α induced by COP.Additionally,the area of perianal ulcers induced by glacial acetic acid was recorded.Twenty-four C57 mice were randomly divided into a control group(group A),low-dose QLM group(group B),high-dose QLM group(group C),and adrenal chromazone tablet group(group D).Results QLM significantly improved the pathological injury of animal models with similar hemorrhoids,reduced the score of pathological changes induced by COP(P＜0.05),reduced the serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α(P＜0.05),reduced the area of perianal ulcers induced by glacial acetic acid(P＜0.05),and shortened the time of coagulation and bleeding(P＜0.05).Conclusions QLM has a good anti-hemorrhoid activity,which may be achieved by anti-inflammatory effects,hemostasis,and reducing tissue damage.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy, feasibility, and safety of task-oriented exercise training for hospitalized elderly diabetic patients.Methods:This study is a parallel randomized controlled trial with a positive control and a single-blinded assessor.From July 2020 to July 2021, we included 84 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes who were hospitalized in the Department of Endocrinology at Beijing Hospital.These patients were randomly divided into two groups: the task-oriented exercise training group(TOE group)and the regular exercise training group(regular group). The TOE group participants were trained using a task-oriented exercise program that was specifically developed by our research team.On the other hand, the regular group participants were trained using a classical program that comprised of all exercise modes.Each subject received individualized exercise training for 10 consecutive days while staying in the hospital.We evaluated the efficacy, feasibility, and safety of the training programs by measuring the physical fitness of the participants, assessing the feasibility of the program, and monitoring any exercise-related adverse events that occurred.Results:A total of 79 subjects completed the entire intervention and follow-up period, with 40 subjects in the TOE group and 39 subjects in the regular group.In terms of efficacy, both groups showed improvement in their physical fitness indexes after the intervention, with no significant differences in the degree of improvement between the two groups(all P>0.05). When considering feasibility, the TOE group had a higher proportion of prospective feasibility at 87.5%(35 out of 40)compared to the regular group at 71.8%(28 out of 39). Similarly, the TOE group had a higher proportion of practical feasibility at 75.0%(30 out of 40)compared to the regular group at 53.8%(21 out of 39). The TOE group showed a significant advantage in practical feasibility between the two groups( χ2=3.862, P=0.049). As for safety, there were no exercise-related adverse events during the intervention in either group. Conclusions:The efficacy and safety of the task-oriented exercise program for hospitalized elderly diabetic patients is comparable to that of the regular program.Additionally, the task-oriented program is more feasible than the regular program.

Liquid-liquid phase separation(LLPS)is a reversible process,during which biological macromolecules,including proteins and nucleic acids,condense into liquid membraneless organelles under the influence of weak multivalent interactions.Currently,fluorescence recovery after photobleaching is the primary method used to detect the phase separation of biological macromolecules.Recent studies have revealed the link between abnormal LLPS and the pathogenesis and development of various human cancers.Through phase separation or abnormal phase separation,tumor-related biological macromolecules,such as mRNA,long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs),and tumor-related proteins,can affect transcriptional translation and DNA damage repair,regulate the autophagy and ferroptosis functions of cells,and thus regulate the development of various tumors.In this review,we summarized the latest research findings on the mechanism of LLPS in the pathogenesis and progression of tumors and elaborated on the promotion or inhibition of autophagy,tumor immunity,DNA damage repair,and cell ferroptosis after abnormal phase separation of biomolecules,including mRNA,lncRNA,and proteins,which subsequently affects the pathogenesis and progression of tumors.According to published findings,many biological macromolecules can regulate transcriptional translation,expression,post-transcriptional modification,cell signal transduction,and other biological processes through phase separation.Therefore,further expansion of the research field of phase separation and in-depth investigation of its molecular mechanisms and regulatory processes hold extensive research potential.

Objective:To analyze the association between exposure to ambient PM 2.5 and its components [sulfate (SO 42-), nitrate (NO 3-), ammonium (NH 4+), organic matter (OM), and black carbon (BC)] and psychological distress among school children and adolescents aged 9 to 18 years in China. Methods:Based on data from the 2019 Chinese National Survey on Students' Constitution and Health, 130 808 children and adolescents aged 9 to 18 years were included. Scoring and determination of higher psychological distress were based on the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), and annual average exposure data for air pollution were matched by survey location and time. We used a restricted cubic spline approach based on logistic regression to fit the associations between PM 2.5, SO 42-, NO 3-, NH 4+, organic matter, black carbon concentrations, and psychological distress. Logistic regression models were used to analyse different age, gender, BMI and physical activity subgroups to estimate the association between exposure to high levels of pollution and high levels of psychological distress in different subgroups. Results:The proportion of children and adolescents with high levels of psychological distress in China was 30.4%, with girls being higher than boys at 31.6% and 29.1%, respectively ( P<0.05). A non-linear positive association existed between exposure to PM 2.5, SO 42-, NO 3- and organic matter concentrations and higher psychological distress. As PM 2.5, NO 3-, NH 4+, organic matter, and black carbon concentrations continued to rise, the increase in the risk of higher psychological distress slowed, while SO 42- showed little change in the OR of psychological distress at lower concentrations but continued to rise at higher concentrations. PM 2.5 and its components were statistically associated with psychological distress in the physically inactive group but not in the physically active group. The association between high levels of pollutants and high psychological distress was stronger among students aged 9 to 12 years compared with students aged 13 to 15 years and 16 to 18 years. Conclusions:The ambient pollutant PM 2.5 and its components are associated with psychological distress in children and adolescents aged 9 to 18 years in China. High pollutant exposure is a risk factor for high psychological distress among physically inactive children and adolescents, and there are age differences in the association between PM 2.5 and components and psychological distress.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of Internet addiction and depression of students, and to analyze the co-occurrence and trend, so as to provide a theoretical basis for prevention and controlling measures of Internet addiction and depression. Methods: A total of 6 317,7 152,81 808,71 180 and 89 932 students aged 10 to 24 years from 12 leagues (103 banners) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were selected by stratified random cluster sampling in September each year from 2017 to 2021. The Internet Addiction Scale and the Central for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale(CES-D) was used to measure Internet addiction and depression. And the annual inspection rate, group difference and annual change trend in students were calculated. Multivariate linear regression and restricted cubic spline analysis were used to estimate the linear and non linear associations between Internet addiction and depression in students. Results: The Internet addiction proportion in students gradually decreased from 4.1% in 2017 to 2.1% in 2020, but increased to 3.9% in 2021. And the depressive symptoms proportion increased from 20.9% in 2017 to 28.0% in 2020 and 27.0% in 2021. The detection rate of Internet addiction and depression comorbidities remained at 1.8% to 2.5 %. The Internet addiction proportion in boys was higher than that in girls( χ 2=42.82， P <0.05). The depressive symptoms prevalence in girls was higher than that in boys( χ 2= 553.90， P <0.05). Taking reversal in prevalence of Internet addiction in urban and rural areas was observed in 2019. The detection rates of depressive symptoms and comorbidity were higher in urban areas than these in suburban counties on the whole, and the difference showed a trend of decreasing or even equalizing year by year. Internet addiction was positively correlated with depressive symptoms score ( B=1.67, 95%CI =1.64-1.71), the proportion of depressive symptoms ( OR=1.39, 95%CI =1.38-1.41) and the proportion of major depressive symptoms ( OR=1.35, 95%CI =1.33-1.36) among students in 2021 ( P <0.05). An N-shaped curve was found in the significant nonlinear associations between internet addiction and depression across sex, region and school stage. Conclusion Internet addiction and depression in students show significant linear and non-linear associations, which are consistent in different sexes, regions and school stages. Therefore, relevant measures should be made and implemented in each region, especially in suburb areas, so as to prevent the increasingly development of adolescents and children s Internet addiction and depression.

Objective:To investigate the clinical outcomes of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) undergoing surgical resection.Methods:Patients who undergoing radical surgical resection for ICC from Jan 2015 to Apr 2021 at the Department of General Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University were included in this retrospective cohort study.Results:There were 67 patients in the final analysis, The median follow-up duration was 14 months (range: 1-60 months). Firty three patients (79.1%) had tumor recurrence, 52 patients (77.6%) died, Among them, 49 patients (73.1%) died from tumor recurrence. The 1-、2-、and 3-year accumulated disease-free and overall survival rate were 35.6%, 19.6%, 16.8% and 53.7%, 32.4%, 20.8%. respectively. The overall survival rate of the group without microvascular invasion was significantly better than those of the group with microvascular invasion ( χ2=5.916, P=0.015). CA19-9≥1 000 U/ml was the only independent risk factor for the disease-free survival. CA19-9≥1 000 U/ml、blood loss≥600 ml、microvascular invasion and tumor recurrence were the independent risk factors for the overall survival. Conclusion:For ICC patients with single tumor, when the tumor diameter is less than 5 cm and has no microvascular invasion, surgical resection is recommended, and a satisfactory prognosis could be achieved.

Objective:To explore the serotype distribution and drug resistance of Shigella in stool samples of children under five years old with diarrhea from 2008 to 2017 in Sui County, Henan Province. Methods:A total of 4 721 stool samples of children under five years old with diarrhea were collected from Doufuyuan Clinic of Sui County during 2008 to 2017, and Shigella strains were isolated through bacterial culture. The slide agglutination test was used for serotyping of Shigella strains. Two hundred of seventy-one Shigella strains were selected in proportion, and multiple gradient polymerase chain reaction was used to detect virulence genes and Kirby-Bauer agar method was used for drug sensitivity. Trend chi square test was used to analyze the annual trend of drug resistance. Results:The detection rate of Shigella strains in 4 721 fecal samples was 20.69% (977/4 721). A total of 977 Shigella strains were divided into 13 serotypes in two groups, including 77.79%(760/977) Shigella flexneri strains and 22.21%(217/977) Shigella sonnei strains.The top three serotypes detected alternately every year.The dominant gene pattern of Shigella flexneri was Shigella enterotoxin ( shET)-1+ , shET-2+ , invasion plasmid antigen H ( ipaH)+ , invasion-associated locus ( ial)+ , accounted for 84.04%(179/213) and that of Shigella sonnei was shET-1-, shET-2+ , ipaH+ , ial+ , accounted for 46.55%(27/58). The drug resistance rates of 271 Shigella strains to ampicillin, nalidixic acid and tetracycline were more than 90% and the strains were more sensitive to cefepime and ceftazidime.The drug resistance rates to cefotaxime, cefepime, ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol and sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim increased year by year, and all had statistically significant differences ( χ2=24.027, 7.232, 6.039, 4.764 and 6.809, respectively, all P< 0.05). There were 98.52%(267/271) strains resistant to more than three kinds of drugs. The resistance rates of Shigella flexneri to ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, and chloramphenicol were higher than those of Shigella sonnei, and the resistance rates to gentamicin and sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim were lower than those of Shigella sonnei. The differences were statistically significant ( χ2=31.866, 14.868, 83.036, 68.534 and 14.738, respectively, all P<0.01). Conclusions:The major serotypes of Shigella in children under five years old in Sui County are constantly changing from 2008 to 2017. The dominant gene patterns of different serotypes are different. Most isolated strains have multiple drug resistances, and different serotypes have different resistance profiles.
