AIM:To evaluate the optimal timing of preoperative intravitreal anti vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)therapy in proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)using intraoperative fluorescein angiography(IOFA).METHODS:A retrospective case series study was conducted on patients who underwent vitrectomy for PDR with vitreous hemorrhage(VH)at Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2023 to February 2025. Patients were divided into three groups according to the interval between intravitreal conbercept injection and surgery: Group A(3 d before surgery), Group B(7 d before surgery), and Group C(14 d before surgery). IOFA was used to assess the number and size of retinal neovascularization(NV). Additional data were collected including preoperative best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), vitreous hemorrhage grading, operative time, frequency of intraoperative endodiathermy, duration of high perfusion pressure, vitreoretinal adhesion grade, postoperative BCVA, and central macular thickness(CMT). Multidimensional analyses were performed.RESULTS:This study enrolled a total of 91 patients(94 eyes)with PDR accompanied by vitreous hemorrhage. Among them, Group A consisted of 31 patients(31 eyes; 18 males, 13 females; mean age 53.26±12.38 y), Group B consisted of 34 patients(37 eyes; 21 males, 13 females; mean age 51.61±14.16 y), and Group C consisted of 26 patients(26 eyes; 18 males, 8 females; mean age 51.00±12.02 y), with baseline characteristics comparable among the three groups(all P>0.05). Comparative analysis of NV visualized via IOFA revealed that both the number and size of NVs were significantly lower in Groups B and C than in Group A(all P<0.0167), while no statistically significant differences were observed between Groups B and C(both P>0.05). No significant differences were found among the three groups regarding other intraoperative parameters, including operation time, frequency of electrocoagulation application, duration of high perfusion pressure, or grading of vitreoretinal adhesion(all P>0.05).CONCLUSION:IOFA confirms that preoperative anti-VEGF therapy administered 7 or 14 d before surgery is more effective than a 3 d interval in suppressing retinal NV activity in PDR patients.

Objective: To investigate the current status of sexual function and its influencing factors among pregnant women, so as to provide the reference for improving sexual health among pregnant women. Methods: From January to July 2025, pregnant women attending regular prenatal check-ups at Shanxi Children's Hospital (Shanxi Maternal and Child Health Hospital), were selected as study participants using a convenience sampling method. Information on sociodemographic, pregnancy-related conditions, and sexual activity during pregnancy was collected through questionnaire surveys. Sexual function status over the past four weeks was assessed using the Chinese version of the Female Sexual Function Index. A multiple linear regression model was employed to analyze the influencing factors for sexual function among pregnant women. Results: A total of 424 pregnant women were surveyed, with the majority aged 30-<35 years (211 cases, 49.76%). Among them, 72 were in the first trimester (16.98%), 200 in the second trimester (47.17%), and 152 in the third trimester (35.85%). The overall sexual function score among pregnant women was (17.85±6.46) points. Scores for the six domains, desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain were (3.23±0.78) (2.21±1.20) (2.76±1.63) (2.95±1.68) (4.14±1.08) (2.56±1.96) points, respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that cohabitation with a companion (β'=0.124), stage of pregnancy (third trimester, β'=-0.360), and changes in sexual practices or positions during pregnancy (β'=0.164) were statistically associated with sexual function scores among pregnant women (all P<0.05). Conclusions Sexual function declines among pregnant women, with mean scores across all domains falling below the critical threshold. Cohabitation with a companion and appropriate adjustments in sexual practices or positions according to the stage of pregnancy may improve sexual function among pregnant women.

Objective To investigate the effectiveness and safety of drug-eluting beads bronchial arterial chemoembolization(DEB-BACE)versus BACE for the treatment of stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ lung squamous cell carcinoma.Methods A total of 104 patients with stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ lung squamous cell carcinoma,who were admitted to the Lishui Municipal Central Hospital of China between January 2013 and August 2021,were enrolled in this study.According to the therapeutic scheme,the patients were divided into DEB-BACE group(n=41)and BACE group(n=63).For patients of DEB-BACE group,Cisplatin at 75 mg/m2 dose and gemcitabine at 1 000 mg/m2 dose(400 mg was used as loaded-drug dose)were injected through a microcatheter,which was followed by embolization with CalliSpheres microspheres loaded with 400 mg of gemcitabine.For patients of BACE group,Cisplatin at 75 mg/m2 and gemcitabatin at 1 000 mg/m2 were injected through a microcatheter,which was followed by arterial embolization with blank microspheres.Three weeks after DEB-BACE or BACE,the patients of both groups were started on intravenous chemotherapy.The primary study endpoint was overall survival(OS).The secondary study endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS),objective response rate(ORR),disease control rate(DCR),adverse reactions,and the remission rate of dyspnea.Results Of the 104 patients,63 received BACE sequential intravenous chemotherapy and 41 received DEB-BACE sequential intravenous chemotherapy.The median OS in DEB-BACE group was 23.0 moths,which was obviously longer than 12.0 months in BACE group(P=0.009).Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that DEB-BACE treatment was an independent risk factor for OS(HR=0.59,95％ CI:0.38-0.91,Log-rank test P=0.018).Meanwhile,the remission rate of dyspnea in DEB-BACE group was significantly higher than that in BACE group(57.1％ vs 30.6％,P＜0.043).Conclusion Compared with BACE sequential intravenous chemotherapy,DEB-BACE sequential intravenous chemotherapy can significantly prolong the survival time of patients with stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ lung squamous cell carcinoma and significantly improve the symptoms of dyspnea,which has important applications in the treatment of patients with advanced lung squamous cell carcinoma.

To develop biocontrol agents for the control of kiwifruit bacterial canker, we isolated a strain CXG2-5 with inhibitory activity against Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa), the pathogen of kiwifruit bacterial canker, from the rhizosphere soil of kiwifruit by the plate confrontation test. The strain was identified by morphological observation, physiological and biochemical tests, and molecular biological methods. The indoor control efficacy of the strain was determined by the inoculation of the strain into detached branches with wounds and into leaf discs by vacuum infiltration. The ability of the strain to expand and colonize leaf veins was determined by fluorescent labeling and scanning electron microscopy. Subsequently, the strain was prepared into microcapsules, the field control efficacy of which was evaluated. The strain CXG2-5 was identified as Pseudomonas benzenivorans. It demonstrated good antagonistic activity against Psa, with an inhibition zone diameter of 22 mm and an inhibition rate of 72.7%. The preventive effects of the strain on kiwifruit bacterial canker were better than the therapeutic effects on both detached branches and leaves, with the preventive effects reaching 65% and 92.4%, respectively. The control effect of microcapsules of this strain in the field reached 60.89%, which was slightly lower than that of 20% kasugamycin and higher than that of Bacillus subtilis wettable powder. In conclusion, strain CXG2-5 serves as a candidate for the control of kiwifruit bacterial canker, and the prepared microcapsules have good value for development and application.

Objective To explore the syndrome characteristics of Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis in Shaanxi area;To provide reference for TCM clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment.Methods Clinical data on patients diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis who received outpatient or inpatient treatment at five hospitals in Shanxi area including Hospital of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine and Yulin Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital etc from August 2020 to August 2022 were under retrospective collection.TCM syndrome distribution law in patients with Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis in Shaanxi area was concluded through frequency statistics,clustering analysis,principal component analysis,and complex network analysis.Results Totally 143 patients were included,involving 64 symptoms.3 groups of syndromes were obtained after clustering analysis,and principal component analysis was performed for each group of syndromes.Using complex network analysis and combining the results of clustering analysis and principal component analysis,classification groups for each group of main symptoms and comorbidities were formed,and their main syndrome classification was determined:qi-yin deficiency syndrome,accounting for 47.55％;spleen deficiency and dampness,accounting for 34.97％;wind-heat attacking the exterior,accounting for 17.48％.Conclusion The syndromes of Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis in Shaanxi area are mainly divided into three types:qi-yin deficiency,spleen deficiency and dampness and wind-heat attacking the exterior.Among them,qi-yin deficiency is the most common.

Objective To observe the effects of electroacupuncture on the motor function and mitochondrial dynamics of skeletal muscle of SAMP8 mice;To explore the mechanism of electroacupuncture in improving the motor dysfunction of Alzheimer disease(AD)from the perspective of mitochondrial dynamics.Methods Totally 18 SAMP8 mice were divided into model group and electroacupuncture group,with 9 mice in each group,and the SAMR1 mice with the same age were set as control group."Baihui","Dazhui"and"Shenshu"were selected in the electroacupuncture group,and electroacupuncture was performed daily for 20 min,8 d as a course of treatment.Each course of treatment was separated by 2 d,for a total of 3 courses of treatment.The model group and the control group were not intervened.The motor function of mice was tested by grip strength test,suspension test,hind limb extension test and Morris water maze experiment.The morphology and structure of gastrocnemius were observed by HE staining,ATP content in gastrocnemius was determined by colorimetry,the mRNA expression of optic atrophy 1(OPA1),mitofusin 2(MFN2)and dynamin-related protein 1(DRP1)in gastrocnemius were detected by real-time quantitative PCR,the expressions of OPA1,MFN2 and DRP1 in gastrocnemius were detected by Western blot.Results Compared with the control group,the grip strength,the score in suspension test,and the average speed and maximum speed of Morris water maze experiment of mice in model group significantly decreased(P<0.01);the arrangement of fibers in the gastrocnemius muscle tissue was disordered,the gaps become wider,and the distribution of nuclei was uneven;the ATP content in the gastrocnemius muscle tissue was significantly decreased(P<0.01),the mRNA and protein expressions of OPA1 and MFN2 were significantly decreased(P<0.01),and the expression of DRP1 mRNA and protein significantly increased(P<0.01).Compared with the model group,the grip strength,the score in suspension test,and the average speed and maximum speed of Morris water maze experiment in electroacupuncture group significantly increased(P<0.01);the arrangement of gastrocnemius muscle tissue was relatively neat,the gaps become narrower,and the distribution of nuclei was more uniform;the ATP content in gastrocnemius muscle tissue significantly increased(P<0.01),while the mRNA and protein expressions of OPA1 and MFN2 significantly increased(P<0.05,P<0.01),the expression of DRP1 mRNA and protein significantly decreased(P<0.01).Conclusion Electroacupuncture can improve the skeletal muscle morphological structure and motor dysfunction of SAMP8 mice,and the mechanism may be related to the correction of skeletal muscle mitochondrial dynamic imbalance and the increase of skeletal muscle ATP content.

The incidence of myopia is increasing year by year and the trend of younger age is obvious. The situation of myopia prevention and control is very serious. The sclera is the target organ for the development of myopia. When myopia occurs and develops, the ultrastructure of the sclera tissue will undergo pathological changes, resulting in a decrease in its tensile strength, then progressive axial growth and posterior sclera expansion. Scleral collagen cross-linking can effectively increase the hardness and tensile strength of scleral tissue, which may have great potential in the prevention and control of myopia, especially pathological myopia. At present, the effectiveness of scleral collagen cross-linking technology in the prevention and treatment of pathological myopia researches are still in the stage of animal experiments, and there are a lot of controversies on the safety. The development of any new technology to ensure safety is the primary condition. A comprehensive understanding of the safety of scleral collagen crosslinking in the prevention and control of myopia can provide more basis and guidance for the further study of scleral collagen crosslinking.

Objective To explore the value of pelvic CT angiography(CTA)digital three-dimensional reconstruction model(abbreviated as"three-dimensional model")in the diagnosis of female pelvic mass.Methods A total of 98 patients with pelvic mass who were hospitalized and operated in Xi'an People's Hos-pital(Xi'an Fourth Hospital)from January 2021 to April 2023 were selected.All patients underwent B-ultra-sound and CTA examination before operation,and the original data of CTA were collected.The digital three-dimensional model of pelvic mass was established by three-dimensional reconstruction software,and the source of pelvic mass was judged according to the blood supply of pelvic mass.Taking postoperative pathological di-agnosis as the gold standard,the coincidence rate between different preoperative diagnosis methods(B-ultra-sound,CTA examination and three-dimensional model)was compared.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was plotted to evaluate the efficacy of different preoperative diagnostic methods in judging the ovarian origin of pelvic tumors.Results A total of 130 pelvic masses were included in 98 patients,and the average maximum diameter of the mass was(71.61±3.03)mm,including 83 ovarian masses and 47 non-ovarian masses.Taking postoperative pathological diagnosis as the gold standard,the diagnostic coincidence rate of the preoperative three-dimensional model was 72.31％,which was higher than that of B-ultrasound(58.46％)and CTA(52.31％),and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.001).The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,accuracy,Kappa value,and area under the ROC curve were 79.51％,91.49％,94.29％,71.67％,83.85％,0.67 and 0.855,respectively,when the three-dimensional model showed that the blood supply of the mass originated from ovarian artery or uterine artery-ovarian branch.Conclusion The three-dimensional model of pelvic CTA can directly display the blood supply source,characteristics of mass,and the relationship between mass and adjacent organs,which can guide the clinical treatment.It has certain clinical value to judge the ovarian origin of pelvic mass by using ovarian artery and uterine artery-ovarian branch.
