1.Research progress on reversal of atherosclerotic plaque by statins and combined lipid-lowering strategies
Chinese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery 2025;41(9):570-576
Atherosclerosis is the most common cardiovascular disease, and dyslipidemia is the primary risk factor leading to atherosclerosis. Since the 21st century, the incidence rate of atherosclerosis in China is still on the rise, and the clinical treatment strategies of its patients need to be optimized urgently. Related studies have found that reducing cholesterol and alleviating inflammation can not only stabilize plaques, but also reverse them. With the development of imaging technology, more and more methods can be used to evaluate the distribution and burden of plaques, further guiding the adjustment of clinical lipid-lowering strategies. This article reviews the clinical application effects and latest research progress of monotherapy with statins and combined lipid-lowering strategies.
