An efficient analytical method was developed for simultaneous detection of alkylamines and alkylamides in food packaging plastics using liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry(LC-HRMS).Based on the physicochemical properties of alkylamines and alkylamides,as well as the complexity of plastic samples,sample pretreatment and chromatographic-mass spectrometric parameters were optimized.The samples were extracted by vortex-ultrasonic extraction with a methanol-acetonitrile mixture for 15 min,followed by nitrogen evaporation to concentrate the extract,reconstitution,and analysis.The chromatographic mobile phase consisted of 0.1%formic acid aqueous solution and acetonitrile,and a gradient elution was used.The electrospray ionization(ESI)source was operated in positive ion mode,and mass spectrometry data were collected in full scan and data-dependent acquisition modes.Quantification was performed using an isotope-labeled internal standard method.The results showed that within the quantification range of 1-1000 ng/mL,the calibration curves exhibited good linearity(R2>0.99).Some compounds interfered with the validation experiments at higher concentrations,so only 10 kinds of target analytes were validated.Using a mixed food packaging plastic matrix,the recoveries at spiking levels of 40,400,and 4000 ng/g were mostly between 66.0%and 117.1%,with relative standard deviations ranging from 0.6%to 10.6%.The method was applied to detect 14 food packaging plastic samples,and the results showed that the concentrations of alkylamines and alkylamides ranged from not detected to 8924 ng/g.This method offered high sensitivity and accuracy,and was suitable for the screening and quantitative determination of alkylamines and alkylamides in plastics.

Chronic kidney disease(CKD)commonly used dietary assessments including 24-hour dietary recall(24 h DR)/3-day dietary recall(3DDR),food frequency questionnaire(FFQ),dietary records,and estimation of dietary protein intake based on nitrogen balance.Given the high prevalence of CKD patients in Asian population and the scarcity of research using FFQ method,it is crucial to develop an FFQ suitable for Chinese CKD patients.This review summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of dietary assessment methods for CKD,the current research status,and the content and steps involved in establishing an FFQ,with the aim of providing reference for the modification of FFQ for Chinese CKD patients.

Objective:To explore the mechanism of herb-partitioned moxibustion in relieving rat intestinal inflammation by focusing on the neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)in Crohn disease(CD)development. Methods:Rats were randomly divided into a normal group,a model group,a herb-partitioned moxibustion group,and a mesalazine group.The CD rat model was prepared with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid except for rats in the normal group.Rats in the normal group and model group did not receive any treatment but had the same fixation as the other groups.Rats in the herb-partitioned moxibustion group received herb-partitioned moxibustion at Qihai(CV6)and bilateral Tianshu(ST25).Rats in the mesalazine group received intragastric administration of mesalazine enteric-coated tablets.The general situation of rats in each group was recorded,and the histopathological changes in the colon were observed and scored by hematoxylin-eosin staining.The serum concentrations of NETs DNA(NETs-DNA),neutrophil elastase(NE)-DNA,and myeloperoxidase(MPO)-DNA were detected by ABC enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,and the citrullinated histone 3(citH3),MPO,and NE protein and mRNA expression levels in rat colon tissue were observed by immunofluorescence and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results:Compared with the normal group,the mucosal ulcer reached the muscularis,the epithelium was incomplete,the goblet cells decreased obviously with significant inflammatory cell infiltration in the colon;the colonic mucosa damage index(CMDI)score increased significantly(P<0.01);the serum NETs-DNA,NE-DNA,and MPO-DNA concentrations increased(P<0.05);the NE,citH3,and MPO protein and mRNA expression in the colonic tissue increased significantly in the model group(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Compared with the model group,the mucosal epithelium in the herb-partitioned moxibustion group and the mesalazine group was repaired and the goblet cells increased with a few infiltrating inflammatory cells in the colon;the CMDI score decreased(P<0.01);the serum NETs-DNA,NE-DNA,and MPO-DNA concentrations decreased(P<0.05);the NE,citH3,and MPO protein and mRNA expression in the colonic tissue was down-regulated(P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusion:Herb-partitioned moxibustion reduced the serum NETs complex and inhibited the protein and mRNA expression of NETs complex in the colon tissue,which may be one mechanism of herb-partitioned moxibustion in relieving colon mucosal inflammation in CD.

Objective: Based on the diagnostic model established and validated by the machine learning algorithm, to investigate the value of seven tumor-associated autoantibodies (TAABs), namely anti-p53, PGP9.5, SOX2, GAGE7, GBU4-5, MAGEA1 and CAGE antibodies in the diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to differentiate between NSCLC and benign lung nodules. Methods: This was a retrospective study of clinical cases. Model building queue: a total of 227 primary patients who underwent radical lung cancer surgery in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, from November 2018 to June 2021 were collected as the NSCLC group, and 120 cases of benign lung nodules, 122 cases of pneumonia and 120 healthy individuals were selected as the control groups. External validation queue: a total of 100 primary patients who underwent radical lung cancer surgery in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, from May 2022 to December 2022 were collected as the NSCLC group, and 36 cases of benign lung nodules, 32 cases of pneumonia and 44 healthy individuals were selected as the control groups. In addition, NSCLC was divided into early (stage 0-ⅠB) and mid-to-late (stage ⅡA-ⅢB) subgroups. The levels of 7-TAABs were detected by enzyme immunoassay, and serum concentrations of CEA and CYFRA21-1 were detected by electrochemiluminescence. Four machine learning algorithms, XGBoost, Lasso logistic regression, Naïve Bayes, and Support Vector Machine are used to establish classification models. And the best performance model was chosen based on evaluation metrics and a multi-indicator combination model was established. In addition, an online risk evaluation tool was generated to assist clinical applications. Results: Except for p53, the levels of rest six TAABs, CEA and CYFRA21-1 were significantly higher in the NSCLC group (P<0.05). Serum levels of anti-SOX2 [1.50 (0.60, 10.85) U/ml vs. 0.8 (0.20, 2.10) U/ml, Z=2.630, P<0.05] and MAGEA1 antibodies [0.20 (0.10, 0.43) U/ml vs. 0.10 (0.10, 0.20) U/ml, Z=2.289, P<0.05], CEA [3.13 (2.12, 5.64) ng/ml vs. 2.11 (1.25, 3.09) ng/ml, Z=3.970, P<0.05] and CYFRA21-1 [4.31(2.37, 7.14) ng/ml vs. 2.53(1.92, 3.48) ng/ml, Z=3.959, P<0.05] were significantly higher in patients with mid-to late-stage NSCLC than in early stages. XGBoost model was used to establish a multi-indicator combined detection model (after removing p53). 6-TAABs combined with CYFRA21-1 was the best combination model for the diagnosis of NSCLC and early NSCLC. The optimal diagnostic thresholds were 0.410, 0.701 and 0.744, and the AUC was 0.828, 0.757 and 0.741, respectively (NSCLC vs. control, NSCLC vs. benign lung nodules, early NSCLC vs. benign lung nodules) in model building queue, and the AUC was 0.760, 0.710 and 0.660, respectively (NSCLC vs. control, NSCLC vs. benign lung nodules, early NSCLC vs. benign lung nodules) in external validation queue. Conclusion: In the diagnosis of NSCLC, 6-TAABs is superior to that of traditional tumor markers CEA and CYFRA21-1, and can compensate for the shortcomings of traditional tumor markers. For the differential diagnosis of NSCLC and benign lung nodule, "6-TAABs+CYFRA21-1" is the most cost-effective combination, and plays an important role in prevention and screening for early lung cancer.

Major advances have been made over the past few decades in identifying and managing disorders of consciousness (DOC) in patients with acquired brain injury (ABI), bringing the transformation from a conceptualized definition to a complex clinical scenario worthy of scientific exploration. Given the continuously-evolving framework of precision medicine that integrates valuable behavioral assessment tools, sophisticated neuroimaging, and electrophysiological techniques, a considerably higher diagnostic accuracy rate of DOC may now be reached. During the treatment of patients with DOC, a variety of intervention methods are available, including amantadine and transcranial direct current stimulation, which have both provided class II evidence, zolpidem, which is also of high quality, and non-invasive stimulation, which appears to be more encouraging than pharmacological therapy. However, heterogeneity is profoundly ingrained in study designs, and only rare schemes have been recommended by authoritative institutions. There is still a lack of an effective clinical protocol for managing patients with DOC following ABI. To advance future clinical studies on DOC, we present a comprehensive review of the progress in clinical identification and management as well as some challenges in the pathophysiology of DOC. We propose a preliminary clinical decision protocol, which could serve as an ideal reference tool for many medical institutions.

Objective:To establish and evaluate a new real-time quality control method that can identify the random errors by using the backpropagation neural network (BPNN) algorithm and taking blood glucose test as an example.Methods:A total of 219 000 blood glucose results measured by Siemens advia 2 400 analytical system from January 2019 to July 2020 and derived from Laboratory Information System of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Laboratory Department was regarded as the unbiased data of our study. Six deviations with different sizes were introduced to generate the corresponding biased data. With each biased data, BPNN and MovSD algorithms were used and tested, and then evaluated by traceability method and clinical method.Results:For BPNN algorithm, the block size was pre-set to 10 and the false-positive rate in all biases was within 0.1%. For MovSD, however, the optimal block size and exclusive limit were 150 and 10% separately and its false-positive rate in all biases was 0.38%, which was 0.28% higher than BPNN. Especially, for the least two error factors of 0.5 and 1, all the random errors were not detected by MovSD; for the error factor larger than 1, random errors could be detected by MovSD but the MNPed was higher than that of BPNN under all deviations. The difference was up to 91.67 times. 460 000 reference data were produced by traceability procedure. The uncertainty of BPNN algorithm evaluated by these reference data was only 0.078%.Conclusion:A real-time quality control method based on BPNN algorithm was successfully established to identify random errors in analytical phase, which was more efficient than MovSD method and provided a new idea and method for the identification of random errors in clinical practice.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and sexual development in Chinese children. Methods: A nationwide multicenter and population-based large cross-sectional study was conducted in 13 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of China from January 2017 to December 2018. Data on sex, age, height, weight were collected, BMI was calculated and sexual characteristics were analyzed. The subjects were divided into four groups based on age, including ages 3-<6 years, 6-<10 years, 10-<15 years and 15-<18 years. Multiple Logistic regression models were used for evaluating the associations of BMI with sexual development in children. Dichotomous Logistic regression was used to compare the differences in the distribution of early and non-early puberty among normal weight, overweight and obese groups. Curves were drawn to analyze the relationship between the percentage of early puberty and BMI distribution in girls and boys at different Tanner stages. Results: A total of 208 179 healthy children (96 471 girls and 111 708 boys) were enrolled in this study. The OR values of B2, B3 and B4+ in overweight girls were 1.72 (95%CI: 1.56-1.89), 3.19 (95%CI: 2.86-3.57), 7.14 (95%CI: 6.33-8.05) and in obese girls were 2.05 (95%CI: 1.88-2.24), 4.98 (95%CI: 4.49-5.53), 11.21 (95%CI: 9.98-12.59), respectively; while the OR values of G2, G3, G4+ in overweight boys were 1.27 (95%CI: 1.17-1.38), 1.52 (95%CI: 1.36-1.70), 1.88 (95%CI: 1.66-2.14) and in obese boys were 1.27 (95%CI: 1.17-1.37), 1.59 (95%CI: 1.43-1.78), and 1.93 (95%CI: 1.70-2.18) (compared with normal weight Tanner 1 group,all P<0.01). Analysis in different age groups found that OR values of obese girls at B2 stage and boys at G2 stage were 2.02 (95%CI: 1.06-3.86) and 2.32 (95%CI:1.05-5.12) in preschool children aged 3-<6 years, respectively (both P<0.05). And in the age group of 6-10 years, overweight girls had a 5.45-fold risk and obese girls had a 12.54-fold risk of B3 stage compared to girls with normal BMI. Compared with normal weight children, the risk of early puberty was 2.67 times higher in overweight girls, 3.63 times higher in obese girls, and 1.22 times higher in overweight boys, 1.35 times higher in obese boys (all P<0.01). Among the children at each Tanner stages, the percentage of early puberty increased with the increase of BMI, from 5.7% (80/1 397), 16.1% (48/299), 13.8% (27/195) to 25.7% (198/769), 65.1% (209/321), 65.4% (157/240) in girls aged 8-<9, 10-<11 and 11-<12 years, and 6.6% (34/513), 18.7% (51/273), 21.6% (57/264) to 13.3% (96/722), 46.4% (140/302), 47.5% (105/221) in boys aged 9-<10, 12-<13 and 13-<14 years, respectively. Conclusions: BMI is positively correlated with sexual development in both Chinese boys and girls, and the correlation is stronger in girls. Obesity is a risk factor for precocious puberty in preschool children aged 3-<6 years, and 6-<10 years of age is a high risk period for early development in obese girls.

Background The current oil production determines oil workers’ occupational noise exposure. Without effective protection, noise will affect various aspects of worker’s body functions, including acting on the adrenal cortex system and resulting in renal function damage. Objective To evaluate the associations of noise exposure and its cumulative exposure level with renal function impairment of oil workers. Methods Oil workers from a collective medical examination in a hospital were selected as the study subjects. In accordance with the national standard Measurement of Physical Agents in the Workplace Part 8: Noise (GBZ/T 189.8—2007), noise exposure was measured three times at the oil workers' work site, and their average value was calculated to obtain the cumulative noise exposure (CNE). A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect general information such as socio-demographic characteristics, family history, lifestyles, and occupational history. All blood biochemical indicators were measured in the fasting state. Renal function impairment was judged based on the glomerular filtration rate. The relationship between CNE and renal function was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) for workers with noise exposure. Results A total of 2 917 subjects were included in the study and their prevalence of renal function impairment was 14.2%. The univariate analysis results suggested statistically significant differences in the prevalence of renal function impairment among the oil workers grouped by having hypertension or not, gender, age, marital status, marital status, smoking, and alcohol consumption (P＜0.05); the prevalence of renal impairment was significantly higher in those with abnormal values of uric acid, total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, and fasting glucose than in those with normal values (P＜0.05); the oil workers with noise exposure [n=1565, 53.7%, equivalent sound level ≥80 dB(A)] showed a higher prevalence of renal function impairment than those without (P＜0.05). The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that being female (OR=2.811, 95%CI: 1.960-4.030), age at 31 years and above (OR_31-40=3.502, 95%CI: 1.402-8.751; OR_41-50=4.255, 95%CI: 1.759-10.291; OR_≥51=7.179, 95%CI: 2.864-17.996), showing abnormal uric acid (OR=5.932, 95%CI: 4.486-7.843), having hypertension (OR=1.593, 95%CI: 1.230-2.063), alcohol consumption (OR=2.648, 95%CI: 1.346-5.212), and smoking (OR=1.816, 95%CI: 1.133-2.911) had higher risks of developing renal function impairment; besides, those exposed to noise had 1.351 times (95%CI: 1.073-1.702) higher risks of developing renal function impairment than non-exposed individuals. Noise-exposed oil workers in the renal impairment group had higher noise exposure intensity and CNE compared to the noise-exposed oil workers in the normal renal function group (P＜0.05), and the workers had an increased risk of renal function impairment when the CNE was >95.85 dB(A)·year versus CNE ≤ 95.85 dB(A)·year (OR=2.583, 95%CI: 1.956-3.411). Conclusion Exposure to noise, higher noise exposure intensity, and higher level of CNE may be associated with developing renal function impairment in oil workers. Oil workers with CNE above 95.85 dB(A)·year are at an increased risk of renal impairment.

With the joint efforts of countries and global non-state actors, great achievements have been made in the global malaria control programme; however, malaria remains a serious threat to human health. As the global leader for combating malaria, WHO formulated The Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016–2030, and the Global Malaria Programme, under the leadership of WHO, is responsible for implementing 5 key projects to achieve the goal proposed in The Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016–2030. In addition, the Global Fund, the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation also play an important role in global malaria elimination programme. This review describes the currently main non-state actors participating in the global malaria elimination programme, and calls for the enhanced inter-actor coordination and close collaboration with state governments to achieve the great goal of malaria elimination in the world.
