Abstract The health literacy level among the elderly in China remains at a low level. The 14th Five-Year Plan for Healthy Aging clearly points out that health literacy promotion projects should be implemented to improve the health literacy level among the elderly. The health literacy promotion strategies for the elderly require individual, social, policy and environmental supports. This article reviewed four types of health literacy promotion strategies for the elderly, including social strategies, lecture-based health education strategies, new media-based health communication strategies and environmental strategies. It also proposed that health education institutions, communities and other parties should work together, take advantage of digital technology and internet, and take various measures simultaneously to improve the health literacy of the elderly.

Objective Logistic regression model was used to analyze the risk factors of liver cancer in patients with hepatitis B virus-related cirrhosis. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 504 patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis who were treated in a hospital from April 2021 to April 2024. The occurrence of liver cancer was counted. The risk factors of liver cancer in patients with HBV-related cirrhosis were analyzed by logistic regression analysis. Results Among the 504 patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis, 101 patients developed liver cancer and 403 patients did not develop liver cancer, which were included in the liver cancer group (n=101) and the non-liver cancer group (n=403).. Among hepatitis B cirrhosis, the incidence rate of liver cancer was 20.04%. Compared with the non-liver cancer group, the proportion of patients with long-term drinking history, family history of liver cancer, history of diabetes mellitus, antiviral therapy, and HBV-DNA load>104 were higher in the liver cancer group (P<0.05). logistic regression analysis found that long-term drinking history (OR=3.077, 95%CI: 1.130-8.378, P=0.028), history of diabetes mellitus (OR=3.747, 95%CI: 1.765-7.954, P=0.001), no antiviral therapy (OR=3.466, 95%CI: 1.337-8.985, P=0.011) and HBV-DNA load>104 (OR=3.149, 95%CI: 1.353-7.328, P=0.008) could independently affect the occurrence of liver cancer in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis. Conclusion According to logistic regression analysis, long-term drinking history, history of diabetes mellitus, no antiviral therapy, and HBV-DNA load>104 are risk factors for liver cancer in patients with HBV-related cirrhosis.

BACKGROUND: Without timely and effective rehabilitation, hearing loss may profoundly affect human life quality. China has a large population of hearing-impaired individuals, which imposes a heavy health burden on society. Moreover, this population is projected to increase rapidly owing to China's aging society. METHODS: We used data from a population-representative epidemiological investigation of hearing loss and ear diseases in four Chinese provinces. We estimated the national prevalence using multiple linear regression of the age-group proportions and prevalence in 31 provinces with clustering analysis. We used years lived with disability (YLDs) to analyze the disease burden and forecasted the prevalence of hearing loss by 2060 in China. RESULTS: An estimated 115 million people had moderate-to-complete hearing loss in 2015 across the 31 provinces of China (8.4% of 1.37 billion people). Of these, 85.7% were older than age 50 years (99 million people) and 2.4% were younger than 20 years old (2.8 million people). Of all YLDs attributable to hearing loss, 68.9% were attributable to moderate-to-complete cases. By 2060, a projected 242 million people in China will have moderate-to-complete hearing loss, a 110.0% increase from 2015. CONCLUSIONS The hearing loss prevalence in China is high. Population aging and socioeconomic factors substantially affect the prevalence and severity of hearing loss and the disease burden. The prevalence and severity of hearing loss are unevenly distributed across different provinces. Future public health policies should take these trends and regional variations into account.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the ameliorative effects and potential mechanism of total secondary ginsenosides （TSG） on hypertrophic changes of primary cardiomyocytes stimulated by angiotensin Ⅱ （Ang Ⅱ）. METHODS Primary cardiomyocytes were isolated from the hearts of neonatal SD rats and divided into the following groups： control group， AngⅡ group （2 µmol/L）， TSG group （7.5 µg/mL）， PFK-015 group [6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2， 6-bisphosphatase 3 （PFKFB3） inhibitor， 10 nmol/L]， and TSG+PFK-015 group （TSG 7.5 µg/mL+PFK-015 10 nmol/L）. The surface area， protein synthesis， energy metabolism-related indicators [free fatty acid （FFA）， coenzyme A （CoA）， acetyl coenzyme A （acetyl-CoA）]， and the expressions of glycolysis-related factors [hypoxia-inducible factor 1α （HIF-1α）， glucose transporter protein 4 （GLUT-4）， lactate dehydrogenase A （LDHA）， pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 （PDK1） and PFKFB3] in primary cardiomyocytes of each group were measured. RESULTS Compared with the control group， the surface area of primary cardiomyocytes and protein synthesis were significantly increased， the content of FFA， protein and mRNA expressions of HIF-1α， LDHA， PDK1 and PFKFB3 were significantly increased or up-regulated in the AngⅡ group， while the contents of CoA and acetyl-CoA， the protein and mRNA expressions of GLUT-4 were significantly decreased or down-regulated （P＜0.05）. Compared with the AngⅡ group， both TSG group and PFK-015 group showed significant improvements in these indexes， with the TSG+PFK-015 group generally demonstrating superior effects compared to either treatment alone （P＜0.05）. CONCLUSIONS TSG can reduce the surface area of AngⅡ-induced primary cardiomyocytes， decrease protein synthesis， and inhibit their hypertrophic changes. These effects may be related to improving energy metabolism and the inhibition of glycolysis activity.

Objective: o develop an onset risk prediction nomogram for patients with homocysteine-type (H-type) hypertension (HTH) based on pulse diagram parameters to assist early clinical prediction and diagnosis of HTH. Methods: Patients diagnosed with essential hypertension and admitted to Shanghai Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Shanghai Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from July 6th 2020 to June 16th 2021, and from August 11th 2023 to January 22nd 2024, were enrolled in this retrospective research. The baselines and clinical biochemical indicators of patients were collected. The SMART-I TCM pulse instrument was applied to gather pulse diagram parameters. Multivariate logistic regression was adopted to analyze the risk factors for HTH. RStudio was employed to construct the nomogram model, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and calibration curve (bootstrap self-sampling 200 times), and clinical decision curve were drawn to evaluate the model’s discrimination and clinical effectiveness. Results: A total of 168 hospitalized patients with essential hypertension were selected and divided into non-HTH group (n = 29) and HTH group (n = 139). Compared with non-HTH group, HTH group had a lower body mass index (BMI), and higher proportions of male patients and drinkers (P < 0.05). The ventricular wall thickening (VWT) could not be determined. The proportions of left common carotid intima-media wall thickness (LCCIMWT) and serum creatinine (SCR) were higher in HTH group (P < 0.05). The pulse diagram parameter As was significantly higher, and H4/H1 and T1/T were lower in HTH group (P < 0.05). Gender, alcohol consumption, serum creatinine, and the pulse diagram parameter H4/H1 were identified as independent risk factors for HTH (P < 0.05). The nomogram’s area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.795 [95% confidence interval (CI): (0.706 6, 0.882 8)], with a specificity of 0.724 and sensitivity of 0.799. After 200 times repeated bootstrap self-samplings, the calibration curve showed that the simulated curve fits well with the actual curve (x2 = 9.5002, P = 0.301 9). The clinical decision curve indicated that the nomogram’s applicability was optimal when the threshold for predicting HTH was between 0.38 and 1.00. Conclusion The nomogram model could be valuable for predicting the onset risk of HTH and pulse diagram parameters can facilitate early screening and prevention of HTH.

Objective To construct large medical model named by "Huaxi HongYi"and explore its application effectiveness in assisting medical record generation. Methods By the way of a full-chain medical large model construction paradigm of "data annotation - model training - scenario incubation", through strategies such as multimodal data fusion, domain adaptation training, and localization of hardware adaptation, "Huaxi HongYi" with 72 billion parameters was constructed. Combined with technologies such as speech recognition, knowledge graphs, and reinforcement learning, an application system for assisting in the generation of medical records was developed. Results Taking the assisted generation of discharge records as an example, in the pilot department, after using the application system, the average completion times of writing a medical records shortened (21 min vs. 5 min) with efficiency increased by 3.2 time, the accuracy rate of the model output reached 92.4%. Conclusion It is feasible for medical institutions to build independently controllable medical large models and incubate various applications based on these models, providing a reference pathway for artificial intelligence development in similar institutions.

ObjectiveTo investigate the protective effect and mechanism of verbenalin on mouse mononuclear macrophage leukemia cells （RAW264.7） damaged by human coronavirus （HCoV）-229E infection， thereby providing experimental evidence for its development and application. MethodsRAW264.7 macrophages were infected with different concentrations of HCoV-229E to establish a coronavirus-induced macrophage injury model using the cell counting kit-8 （CCK-8） assay for assessing cell proliferation and viability. Cells were randomly divided into four groups： normal control， verbenalin group （125 μmol·L^-1）， model group （HCoV-229E）， and HCoV-229E + verbenalin group （HCoV-229E + 125 μmol·L^-1 verbenalin）. Cell viability was measured using the CCK-8 assay， and the maximum non-toxic concentration （CC₀）， half-maximal cytotoxic concentration （CC₅₀）， half-maximal effective concentration （EC₅₀）， and selectivity index （SI） of verbenalin were calculated. Calcein/PI double staining was used to assess cell viability and cytotoxicity， and JC-1 staining was applied to evaluate changes in mitochondrial membrane potential （MMP）. mito-Keima adenovirus labeling was used to assess mitophagy levels in each group. ResultsA macrophage infection model was successfully established by infecting RAW264.7 cells with the original concentration of HCoV-229E for 36 h. The CC₀ of verbenalin was 125 μmol·L^-1. The CC₅₀ was 448.25 μmol·L^-1. The EC₅₀ against HCoV-229E-infected cells was 46.28 μmol·L^-1， and the SI was 9.68. Compared with the normal group， the model group showed significantly reduced cell survival rate （P<0.01）， increased cell death rate （P<0.01）， decreased MMP （P<0.01）， and suppressed mitophagy （P<0.01）. In contrast， verbenalin treatment significantly improved cell survival rate （P<0.01）， reduced cell death rate （P<0.01）， alleviated MMP loss （P<0.01）， and enhanced mitophagy levels （P<0.01） compared with the model group. ConclusionVerbenalin can enhance the survival rate of macrophages following HCoV-229E infection. The underlying mechanism may be associated with the activation of mitophagy， maintenance of MMP stability， and alleviation of mitochondrial damage.

ObjectiveThis paper aims to investigate the therapeutic effects of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets on varicella-zoster virus （VZV） and its associated postherpetic neuralgia （PHN） to provide experimental evidence for the clinical application and secondary development of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets. MethodsFifty-six guinea pigs were randomly divided into seven groups according to their body weight， namely the normal group， the model group， the positive control group， the high-dose group， medium-dose group， and low-dose group of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets （1.92， 0.96， 0.48 g·d^-1）， and the group treated with oral administration combined with topical application of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets （0.96 g·d^-1 + 1.2 g·kg^-1·d^-1）. The skin on the back of the guinea pigs in each group was depilated and then abraded with sandpaper. Except for the normal group， 200 μL of VZV solution was dropped on the damaged parts of the back of the guinea pigs in the other groups， and the infection lasted for 2 consecutive days. The drug administration started 2 hours after the infection on the first day and lasted for 7 days. The pathological changes of the back of the guinea pigs in each group were observed every day starting from the second day after the infection. On the 7^th day， the guinea pigs were sacrificed by CO₂ anesthesia. The locally infected skin was taken， and the viral DNA nucleic acid load was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction （Real-time PCR）. The pathological histology examination was carried out after hematoxylin-eosin （HE） staining. Seventy rats were randomly divided into seven groups according to their body weight， namely the normal group， the model group， the positive control group， the high-dose group， medium-dose group， and low-dose group of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets （1.08， 0.54， 0.27 g·d^-1）， and the group treated with oral administration combined with topical application of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets （0.54 g·d^-1 + 1.2 g·kg^-1·d^-1）. The rats in each group （except the normal group） were subcutaneously inoculated with 50 μL of VZV suspension between the web of the first and second fingers of the left forelimb. The skin on the back of the rats was depilated， and the drug administration started 2 hours after the infection and lasted for 10 days. The mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws of the rats was detected by a Von Frey filament algometer before inoculation and on the 1^st， 3^rd， 6^th， 8^th， and 10^th days after inoculation， and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats was detected by a hot and cold plate algometer. On the 10^th day after the virus inoculation， the rats were anesthetized after the behavioral examination， and the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord segments were taken. The contents of substance P （SP）， neurokinin （NK）， tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）， and interleukin-1β （IL-1β） in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. ResultsCompared with those in the normal group， the guinea pigs in the model group had obvious skin herpes lesions （P<0.01）. The viral nucleic acid load was high （P<0.01）， and there were disorganized subcutaneous cellular structures and obvious infiltration of inflammatory cells and cell necrosis （P<0.01）. The mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats were significantly decreased （P<0.05）， and the contents of NK， SP， TNF-α， and IL-1β in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord of the rats were significantly increased （P<0.01）. Compared with the model group， the high-dose and medium-dose groups of topical administration of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets and the group of oral administration combined with topical application could significantly improve the lesions such as skin redness and herpes of the guinea pigs caused by VZV infection （P<0.01）， reduce the VZV viral nucleic acid load in the skin tissues of the guinea pigs （P<0.01）， alleviate the degree of inflammatory cell infiltration and skin cell necrosis in the skin tissue （P<0.05）， significantly increase the mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats （P<0.05）， and decrease the contents of NK， SP， TNF-α， and IL-1β in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord of the rats （P<0.01）. ConclusionJidesheng Sheyao tablets demonstrated significant therapeutic effects on VZV-induced skin infections and postherpetic neuralgia （PHN）， providing a promising candidate for the prevention and treatment of VZV infections.

Compared with the model group， the high-dose and medium-dose groups of topical administration of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets and the group of oral administration combined with topical application could significantly improve the lesions such as skin redness and herpes of the guinea pigs caused by VZV infection （P<0.01）， reduce the VZV viral nucleic acid load in the skin tissues of the guinea pigs （P<0.01）， alleviate the degree of inflammatory cell infiltration and skin cell necrosis in the skin tissue （P<0.05）， significantly increase the mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats （P<0.05）， and decrease the contents of NK， SP， TNF-α， and IL-1β in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord of the rats （P<0.01）. ConclusionJidesheng Sheyao tablets demonstrated significant therapeutic effects on VZV-induced skin infections and postherpetic neuralgia （PHN）， providing a promising candidate for the prevention and treatment of VZV infections.
