The success of"New Medical Sciences"in higher education requires effective tools in evalua-ting students'performance in courses.Previously,we reported a teamwork(T),critique(C)and ap-preciation(A)(TCA)ideological and political model,a teaching model widely applied in Basic Medical courses.TCA is an abbreviation derived from Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle in Biochemistry as an analogy for nurturing the abilities of thinking and teamwork(T),critique(C)and appreciation(A),which hope-fully could provide students with moral norms for cognition, science and life. This paper further explores the tools to assess the educational outcomes of the TCA model,by which teachers can collect feedback and reflect on teaching quality and effectiveness.Addressing the challenges of individual differences in large classes, fragmented learning feedback, and the difficulty of measuring meta-cognition in educational evaluation, this study employs strategies of value-added assessment, matrix assessment and norm-transfer-able assessment to evaluate the TCA abilities from the aspects of thinking quality, thinking creativity,co-operation ability, iterative thinking, dialectical thinking and job responsibility.By modifying/using 18 e-valuation tools in Education and Psychology,we have established a rubric system composed of 30 primary indicators(with 11 newly designed,10 partly modified and 9 directly adopted),along with 49 secondary indicators and 98 tertiary indicators to enhance the feasibility of the evaluation process. This rubric sys-tem was applied to Biochemistry teaching among the five-year-program undergraduates at Air Force Medi-cal University.Specifically, thinking and teamwork are evaluated by creative works from"the magic bio-chemical-circle",while critiques are assessed in large classes under the guidance of basic and clinical teachers, coupled with appreciation measured by job responsibility in a task-driven virtual reality(VR)project. The results indicate that Biochemistry teaching not only accumulates knowledge in students, but also achieves the goals in nurturing values and cognition. The inclusion of creative performance evalua-tion,cooperative learning and clinical case studies, can enhance students'interpersonal skills,coopera-tion,quality of thinking, creative thinking, iterative thinking and dialectical thinking to varying degrees.TCA-based Biochemistry teaching has a long-lasting impact on character education, and is capable of in-ducing positive long-term changes in students'cognition and lifestyle.Taken together, with the help of this rubric system, teachers can promptly acknowledge the effectiveness of their teaching, thereby facilita-ting their teaching strategies.

Esophageal cancer is one of the global public health problems, which is a serious threat to life and health. Screening is not only an important main measures to reduce the incidence and mortality of esophageal cancer, but also an effective strategy for early prevention and early treatment. There are significant differences in the screening status of esophageal adenocarcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cancer between China and abroad. Internationally, there are several guidelines for screening and monitoring of Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma, but most guidelines do not recommend screening in the general population. The primary screening by sponge ball then endoscopic diagnosis is a new focus. In China, the screening of esophageal cancer and its precancerous lesions is mainly esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, which has been relatively mature and gradually transformed from population screening to opportunistic screening. However, due to the high cost, high technical difficulty and certain invasiveness, it is difficult to popularize and be applied widely; and the canceration rate of precancerous lesions is low, so it is very important to control the cost of screening and scientific follow-up. Moreover, high-risk population should raise their awareness of cancer prevention, actively take primary prevention and the initiative to participate in screening. About medicine institutions, it is urgent to improve the awareness and capacity of early screening. The multi-disciplinary research cooperation, minimally invasive, simple and economical screening methods and multi-omics biomarkers are still explored to detect and concentrate high-risk populations, which will help to optimize screening programs of esophageal cancer and further reduce the incidence and mortality of esophageal cancer.

Objective:To observe and analyze the multimodal imaging characteristics of fundus in patients with idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms and neuroretinitis (IRVAN) syndrome. Methods:A retrospective study. From June 2015 to March 2024, 6 patients (11 eyes) diagnosed with IRVAN syndrome in Shaanxi Eye Hospital were included in the study. All patients underwent examinations including best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), color fundus photography, fluorescein fundus angiography (FFA), optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA). At the same time, FFA combined with indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) was performed in 6 eyes. Follow-up ranged from 2 to 23 months. Multimodal imaging features were analyzed retrospectively. The number of retinal aneurysms detected by FFA, ICGA, and OCTA was compared by using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results:In 11 eyes of 6 cases, a total of 1 male (2 eyes) and 5 females (9 eyes) with the mean age of (31.67±12.91) years were included in this cohort. Color fundus photography showed clear optic disc boundaries in 5 eyes, optic disc aneurysms in 8 eyes, retinal aneurysms in 4 eyes; exudation in 9 eyes, localized around aneurysms. On OCT, vitreous high reflective dots and epiretinal membrane on optic disc in all 11 eyes, and macular epiretinal membrane in 3 eyes were revealed. FFA showed optic disc aneurysms and retinal aneurysms in 9 eyes, late optic disc hyperfluorescence in 11 eyes; local arterial leakage in 3 eyes, local venous leakage in 8 eyes, non-perfusion area in all 11 eyes, and retina neovascularization in 3 eyes. Optic disc aneurysms and retinal aneurysms in 5 eyes (total 18 aneurysms) on ICGA were shown compared with optic disc aneurysms in 4 eyes and retinal aneurysms in 5 eyes (total 13 aneurysms) on simultaneous FFA. OCTA revealed neovascularization on the optic disc in 2 eyes, optic disc aneurysmsin 8 eyes, retinal aneurysms in 1 eye (total 2 aneurysms); while on simultaneous FFA, optic disc aneurysms in 8 eyes and retinal aneurysms in 3 eyes (total 5 aneurysms) with no optic disc were displayed. During OCTA follow-up, new aneurysms appeared at the bifurcation of arteries with an increasing angle between them and non-perfusion area enlargement on FFA. Compared with FFA and ICGA, OCTA in detecting the number of aneurysms had no statistics significance ( Z=-1.342, -1.342; P>0.05). Conclusion:Multimodal imaging can demonstrate characteristics of IRVAN syndrome, ICGA provides superior visualization of optic disc and retinal aneurysms, while OCTA confirms optic disc neovascularization and enlargement of artery angles at arterial bifurcations.
