Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and disease burden of liver cancer in Guangdong Province in 2020, and to provide a scientific foundation for the development of regionalized prevention and control strategies for liver cancer. Methods According to the cancer registry data of Guangdong Province, the incidence, mortality and age-standardized rate by Chinese standard population in 2020 were calculated to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of liver cancer. The disability adjusted life years (DALYs), year of life loss (YLL), year of lived with disability (YLD), and cause-eliminated life expectancy were used to assess the disease burden of liver cancer. Results In 2020, the crude incidence rate and the age-standardized incidence rate of liver cancer in Guangdong Province were 27.79/100 000 and 20.84/100 000，respectively, and the crude mortality rate and the age-standardized mortality rate of liver cancer were 25.49/100,000 and 17.64/100 000, respectively. The total DALY and DALY rate of liver cancer in Guangdong Province were 515 311 person-years and 513.83/100 000, respectively. After eliminating the causes of death from liver cancer, the life expectancy in Guangdong Province increased from 84.60 years to 84.99 years. All indicators consistently demonstrated that the burden of liver cancer was higher in males than that in females, and the burden of liver cancer was higher in rural areas than that in urban areas. Conclusion Liver cancer in Guangdong Province exhibits a high incidence, mortality and disease burden level in 2020. There are obvious differences of gender, age and region in cancer burden. It is necessary to strengthen liver cancer screening and diagnosis and treatment in men, the elderly and those in rural areas to reduce the burden of liver cancer gradually in Guangdong Province.

Transfusion and Anemia Expertise Initiative-Control/Avoidance of Bleeding developed a strategy for platelet and plasma infusion management in critically ill children based on systematic reviews and consensus meetings of international multidisciplinary experts. One good practice statement and six expert consensus statements were proposed for plasma and platelet transfusions in critically ill children following severe trauma, traumatic brain injury, and/or intracranial hemorrhage. This article introduces the specific methods and basis for the formation of recommendations in this part of the guide.

BACKGROUND:Some studies have confirmed the changes in the function of immune cell subsets such as monocytes,T cells,B cells,and natural killer cells(NK cells)in patients with osteoarthritis,but the specific regulatory mechanisms are unclear.OBJECTIVE:To explore the causal relationship between plasma metabolite-mediated immune cells and hip osteoarthritis.METHODS:The Genome-Wide Association Studies(GWAS)data of 731 immune cells were used as the exposure,the GWAS data of hip osteoarthritis were used as the outcome,and 1 400 plasma metabolites were selected as mediating factors.The GWAS database is an important database for genetic association studies,maintained by international organizations with no country-specific affiliation.The inverse variance weighting method in the two-sample Mendelian randomization method was the main method,and the Bayesian weighted Mendelian randomization method was used to analyze the prior distribution,sample data and weights,which were then used to calculate the posterior distribution.The accuracy and reliability of the inverse variance weighting results were evaluated according to the posterior distribution,supplemented by MR-Egger,weighted median,simple model,and weighted mode methods.The pliotropy test and heterogeneity test were used to ensure the robustness of the process.The results of the inverse variance weighting method were used for subsequent mediating effect analysis.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The inverse variance weighting method identified 4 immune cells strongly correlated with hip osteoarthritis,and 20 metabolites strongly associated with hip osteoarthritis,all of which had no reverse causal relationship.At the same time,the validation results of Bayesian weighted Mendelian randomization method showed that the posterior mean value was similar to the estimated value of the inverse variance weighting,and the posterior variance was relatively lower.One monocyte subtype(PDL-1 on CD14-CD16+)was finally screened out to have a causal relationship with hip osteoarthritis,with a total effect of-0.047(odds ratio=0.954,95％confidence interval:0.926-0.983),and a mediating effect of-0.004(odds ratio=0.939,95％confidence interval:0.902-0.978)mediated by alliin levels,accounting for 8.5％of the total effect.It was concluded that alliin is a protective factor in the progression of hip osteoarthritis,in which this metabolite plays a mediating role.(2)The large amount of data from international databases and European population analysis is of great significance to Chinese biomedicine,which can provide clues for research on the genetic susceptibility to similar diseases in the Chinese population,aiding in discovering the unique associations.The pharmacogenomic approaches used can be adapted to screen for drug response genes in the Chinese population,enhancing the precision of personalized medicine.Additionally,the advanced high-throughput technologies and statistical methods employed can be learned and applied to disease prevention and treatment research.

Objective To investigate the clinical safety and efficacy of predictive extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support during liver transplantation in high-risk recipients. Methods A single-center retrospective study was conducted. A total of 35 liver transplant recipients who underwent predictive ECMO assistance during surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from January 2021 to April 2025 were included. Baseline characteristics, ECMO application, ECMO operating parameters and hemodynamic conditions during ECMO operation were analyzed. The cumulative survival rate was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method and survival curves were plotted. Results Veno-arterial ECMO in 35 recipients was established after induction of general anesthesia. The median ECMO operation time was 8.5 h, and the success rate of weaning from ECMO was 97%. The cardiac index (CI) during the non-liver period and the new liver period was higher than that before cannulation, and CI increased during the non-liver period and before weaning (all P<0.001). The mean invasive arterial pressure and central venous pressure remained stable. No ECMO-related complications occurred in the recipients. The average survival time was (25 ± 3) months. The main causes of death were severe pulmonary infection and multiple organ failure. Conclusions For liver transplant recipients with severe cardiopulmonary dysfunction, hemodynamic disorders, or multiple organ failure risk factors, implementing predictive ECMO support during liver transplantation through active risk prediction is a safe and effective circulatory guarantee strategy.

Objective: To investigate the annual trend and influencing factors of screening myopia prevalence among children and adolescents in Tianhe District, Guangzhou from 2021 to 2024, so as to provide a scientific basis for optimizing targeted and precise regional myopia prevention and control strategies. Methods: From 2021 to 2024, a stratified cluster random sampling method was adopted to recruit 10 132 students ranging from senior kindergarten to senior high school from fixed monitoring sites for myopia screening. Additionally, a questionnaire survey on myopia related factors was administered to 7 115 students in grade 4 and above. Generalized estimating equation (GEE) models were used to analyze the annual changing trends and interaction effects, and mixed effects models were performed for sensitivity analysis. Results: The screening myopia prevalence among children and adolescents in Tianhe District from 2021 to 2024 was 58.9%, 57.3%, 56.8%, and 54.7%, respectively, and showed a statistically significant difference ( χ 2=9.06, P <0.05). The prevalence rates among senior kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, regular senior high school, and vocational high school students were 8.7%, 40.7%, 74.3%, 86.7%, and 75.6%, respectively （χ 2= 2 493.11， P <0.05). The prevalence was significantly higher in female students (60.9%) than in male students (53.3%) ( χ 2= 59.22 , P <0.05). GEE analysis showed that male students ( OR =0.59), primary school students ( OR =0.45), those who spent less than 6 hours per day sitting indoors ( OR =0.78), and those who used electronic devices for no more than 2 hours per day ( OR = 0.25 ) all had lower risks of screening myopia (all P <0.05). Students in regular high schools ( OR =2.01), those who engaged in activities inside the classroom during breaks ( OR =1.55), those who engaged in activities outside the classroom but within the school building during breaks ( OR = 1.46), those who never or only occasionally maintained proper reading and writing postures ( OR =1.32), those with less than 2 hours of daily outdoor activity ( OR =1.86), those with both parents being myopic ( OR =2.48), those with only the father being myopic ( OR =1.50), and those with only the mother being myopic ( OR =1.63) all had higher risks of screening detected myopia (all P ＜0.05). Interaction effect analysis revealed annual heterogeneity in the effects of daily outdoor activity time ≥2 h and daily electronic device use time >2 h on screening myopia prevalence (all P ＜0.05). Conclusions The screening myopia prevalence among children and adolescents in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, demonstrates a continuous downward trend. The impacts of daily outdoor activity duration and electronic device usage time on screening myopia exhibit annual heterogeneity. Dynamic and targeted myopia prevention and control strategies should be formulated in accordance with regional demographic features and environmental changes.

19 cinnamamide/ester-triazole compounds were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their anti-Alzheimer's disease (AD) activity. Among them, compound 4f displayed excellent anti-β-amyloid protein (Aβ)-mediated cytotoxicity (EC₅₀ = 2.03 ± 2.45 μmol·L^-1) in APPswe cells and acetylcholinesterase inhibiton (IC₅₀ = 4.88 ± 4.70 μmol·L^-1). Further study indicated that, at dosages of (1, 5 and 25 mg·kg^-1), compound 4f was effective in improving spatial learning and memory deficits in Aβ_1-42-impaired mice, which was achieved by promoting the nonamyloidogenic signaling and inhibiting the amyloidogenic pathway, along with the suppression of Aβ-induced Tau phosphorylation. All animal experiments in this study were approved by the Experimental Animal Care and Use Committee of the Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology (IMB-20220908D701). In conclusion, compound 4f holds promise as a lead candidate for AD treatment, and the present study lays the foundation for its subsequent development.

The interleukin-10 （IL-10） family is expressed in various types of cells and has a wide range of biological functions， and it plays an important role in the development and progression of hepatic fibrosis. Hepatic fibrosis is a chronic liver disease characterized by abnormal repair of hepatic tissues after injury， activation of hepatic stellate cells， and excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix. The IL-10 family members include IL-10， IL-19， IL-20， IL-22， IL-24， IL-26， IL-28， IL-29， and IL-35， with similarities in structure and function， and changes in their expression levels are closely associated with the progression of hepatic fibrosis. Moderate upregulation of the expression of IL-10 family members can help maintain the quiescent state of hepatic stellate cells， promote the transformation of macrophages to anti-inflammatory phenotype， and regulate the activity of natural killer cells， thereby inhibiting inflammatory response， regulating cell apoptosis and autophagy， and finally reversing the progression of hepatic fibrosis. This article discusses the mechanism of action of IL-10 family members and their application in traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine therapies， in order to provide new thoughts for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis.

[Objective] To investigate the factors associated with alanine aminotransferase (ALT) abnormalities in multi-ethnic blood donors across five Zang autonomous prefectures in the plateau regions of Qinghai Province, and to provide evidence for ensuring blood safety and formulating screening strategies. [Methods] A retrospective analysis was performed on the ALT abnormal test results of blood donors in the Zang autonomous prefectures of Qinghai from 2022 to 2024. The correlations between ALT levels and factors including gender, age, altitude, and infectious markers were investigated. [Results] The overall ALT unqualified rate among blood donors in this region was 9.01%. Significant differences in ALT levels were observed across genders and age groups (P<0.05). Variations in ALT abnormality rates were also noted among different plateau regions (P<0.05). Overall, ALT values exhibited an increasing trend with rising altitude. The average ALT unqualified rates were 11.19% in Zang donors, 7.96% in Han donors, and 4.79% in donors from other ethnic groups (P<0.05). No statistically significant association was observed between ALT abnormality and the presence of HBV/HCV infectious markers (P>0.05). [Conclusion] In the plateau areas of Qinghai, multi-ethnic blood donors have a relatively high ALT levels and ALT unqualified rates, showing distinct regional characteristics. ALT elevation in voluntary blood donors is related to non-pathological factors such as gender, age, and dietary habits, but not to infectious indicators.

To guide transfusion practice in critically ill children who often need plasma and platelet transfusions, the Transfusion and Anemia Expertise Initiative-Control/Avoidance of Bleeding (TAXI-CAB) developed Recommendations and Expert Consensus for Plasma and Platelet Transfusion Practice in Critically Ill Children. This guideline addresses 53 recommendations related to plasma and platelet transfusion in critically ill children with 8 kinds of diseases, laboratory testing, selection/treatment of plasma and platelet components, and research priorities. This paper introduces the specific methods and results of the recommendation formation of the guideline.
