Prostate cancer (PCa) ranks as the second most prevalent malignancy among men worldwide. Early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and prognosis prediction of PCa play a crucial role in improving patients' survival rates. The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly the utilization of deep learning (DL) algorithms, has brought about substantial progress in assisting the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis prediction of PCa. The introduction of the foundation model has revolutionized the application of AI in medical treatment and facilitated its integration into clinical practice. This review emphasizes the clinical application of AI in PCa by discussing recent advancements from both pathological and imaging perspectives. Furthermore, it explores the current challenges faced by AI in clinical applications while also considering future developments, aiming to provide a valuable point of reference for the integration of AI and clinical applications.

This study was aimed at investigating infections with Giardia and Cryptosporidium in Ochotona curzoniae in Zoige County,Sichuan Province.O.curzoniae were captured in five townships of Zoige County(Dazhasi,Axi,Hongxing,Tangke,and Maixi)between March and December of 2023.DNA from the gastrointestinal contents was subjected to nested PCR to amplify Giardia bg,gdh,and tpi genes,and the Cryptosporidium SSU rRNA gene.The sequences of PCR-PCR products were analyzed and compared.Phylogenetic trees were constructed to determine the protozoa species and genotypes.A total of 114 O.curzoniae animals were captured,among which 44 samples showed bg gene positivity,and 14 samples showed gdh gene positivity for Giardia.The total detection rate was 43.9％(50/114),and two assemblages were detected(assem-blage E and a new assemblage tentatively termed assemblage OC1);the positivity rate for Cryptosporidium was 7.0％(8/114),and three new genotypes were observed.Mixed infection with Cryptosporidium and Giardia was present in some sam-ples,with a detection rate of 3.5％(4/114).Giardia lamblia and Giardia sp.(REG-1,REG-2)were prevalent in O.curzoni-ae in Zoige County in Sichuan province;assemblage E was the dominant assemblage,and the new assemblage OC1 was pres-ent;and Cryptosporidium sp.(REG-1,REG-2,and REG-3)were identified.In summary,future monitoring of Giardia and Cryptosporidium should be further strengthened in Zoige to provide detailed data for promoting local public health.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of stanozolol combined with avatrombopag in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia(CIT)in patients with relapsed/refractory tumors.Methods:Twenty-five patients with relapsed/refractory CIT admitted to the Hematology Department of Xiyuan Hospital,China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences between March 2023 to December 2023 were enrolled.These patients received a combined therapy of stanozolol and avatrombopag.The clinical efficacy,onset time,changes in platelet levels and blood cell counts before and after treatment,and adverse reactions of patients were evaluated.Results:The combination therapy demonstrated remarkable efficacy with a total effective rate of 100％.Among the 25 patients,19 achieved complete remission and 6 achieved partial remission.The median onset time was 42.5(range:35-48)days.The average platelet count of the 25 patients increased from(25.73±17.75)× 109/L before treatment to(146.4±49.59)× 109/L after 3 months of treatment,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).18 patients who previously required platelet transfusion were all weaned off platelet transfusion after 3 months of treatment,with a median time to be free from platelet transfusion was 26(range:18-51)days.During the treatment,both neutrophils and hemoglobin exhibited various degrees of elevation.Two patients experienced a slight increase in alanine aminotransferase(ALT)levels,which normalized after treatment with oral hepatoprotective drug.One patient had a PLT increase exceeding 350 ×109/L,and the treatment with avatrombopag was suspended,and aspirin and other drugs were given to prevent thrombosis.No thrombose events or CIT-related bleeding events were observed in all patients.Conclusion:The combination therapy of stanozolol and avatrombopag is significantly effective for treating relapsed/refractory CIT patients,with a high response rate and good safety,making it a suitable clinical treatment option.

MENTORSHIP AND GROWTH: REFLECTIONS FROM THE ASIAN MEDICAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION COMPETITION IN JAPAN Participating as a supervisor in the Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Competition in Japan was both enlightening and enriching. This prestigious event, which aimed to enhance medical students’ academic knowledge, cultural understanding and interpersonal skills, provided me with the opportunity to mentor aspiring professionals and reflect on my development as an educator. The AMSA Conference and Competition, held from 21 to 27 July 2024 at the International University of Health and Welfare’s Narita and Tokyo campuses, focused on the theme of ‘Disaster Medicine’. AMSC 2024 offered medical students a platform to explore disaster medicine, fostered international collaboration and idea exchange and highlighted the need for disaster preparedness and global health cooperation among future healthcare leaders.

Objective To measure and compare the lateral posterior tibial slope (LPTS) , medial posterior tibial slope ( MPTS) and tibial torsion angle ( TTA) between the patients of recuiTent patellar dislocation and the heathy people, and to analyze the correlation between LPTS, MPTS and TTA and the risk factors of recuiTent patellar dislocation. Methods A total of 33 patients (44 knees) with recuiTent patellar dislocation in our hospital from July 2019 to June 2021 were selected and listed as the stud)' group. Twenty-three subjects (46 knees) who were suspected iliac vascular and lower limb vascular diseases during the same period were selected and listed as the control group. All the enrolled researchers had fulllength CT scans date of the lower limbs. Three-dimensional models were reconstructed using Mimics 21. 0 software and then imported into 3-matic software. The LPTS, MPTS and TTA were measured and compared between the two groups. Results In the study group, the LPTS, MPTS and TTA were (7. 69} 1. 42) ° , ( 10. 06} 1. 71) ° , ( 36. 42}8. 13 ) ° , respectively while the control group, the LPTS, MPTS and TTA were ( 8. 42 } 1. 65 ) ° , ( 10. 44 } 0. 86 ) ° , ( 25. 77} 3. 90 ) ° , respectively. There were no signiiicant differences in the LPTS, MPTS and TTA between different genders and sides both in the stud)' group and the control group ( P > 0. 0 5 ) . Compared with the control group, the LPTS in the stud)' group was smaller, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 0 5 ) . There was no statistically significant difference between the stud)' group and the control group in the MPTS (P>0. 05). Compared with the control group, the TTA in the stud)' group was higher, and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0. 0 5 ) . Compared with the control group, the LPTS and MPTS in the study group were significant asymmetry, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0 . 0 5 ). Conclusion The lateral posterior tibial slope of patients with recurrent patellar dislocation is significantly smaller than that in the healthy people, while there is no significant difference in the medial posterior tibial slope; The tibial torsion angle of patients with recurrent patellar dislocation is significantly larger than in the healthy people; The lateral posterior tibial slope and tibial torsion angle have certain correlation with recurrent patellar dislocation, which can conduct the diagnosis of recurrent patellar dislocation.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effect of arsenic-containing Qinghuang Powder (QHP) and low-intensity chemotherapy (LIC) in treatment of elderly acute myeloid leukemia (eAML) patients. METHODS: Clinical data of 80 eAML patients treated at Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from January 2015 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The treatment scheme was designed by real world study according to patients' preference, and patients were divided into a QHP group (35 cases) and a LIC group (45 cases). The median overall survival (mOS), 1-, 2-, and 3-year OS rates, and incidence of adverse events were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The mOS of 80 patients was 11 months, and the 1-, 2-, and 3-year OS rates were 45.51%, 17.96%, and 11.05%, respectively. The QHP and LIC groups demonstrated no significant difference in mOS (12 months vs. 10 months), 1- (48.57% vs. 39.65%), 2- (11.43% vs. 20.04%), and 3-year OS rates (5.71% vs. 13.27%, all P>0.05). Moreover, the related factors of mOS demonstrated no significant difference in patients with age>75 years (11 months vs. 8 months), secondary AML (11 months vs. 8 months), poor genetic prognosis (9 months vs. 7 months), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score ⩾ 3 (10 months vs. 7 months) and hematopoietic stem cell transplant comorbidity index ⩾ 4 (11 months vs. 7 months) between the QHP and LIC groups (all P>0.05). However, the incidence of myelosuppression was significantly lower in the QHP group than that in the LIC group (28.57% vs. 73.33%, P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS QHP and LIC had similar survival rates in eAML patients, but QHP had a lower myelosuppression incidence. Hence, QHP can be an alternative for eAML patients who do not tolerate LIC.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect and mechanism of schisandrin B (Sch B) in the treatment of cerebral ischemia in rats. METHODS: The cerebral ischemia models were induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and reperfusion. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 6 groups using a random number table, including sham, MCAO, MCAO+Sch B (50 mg/kg), MCAO+Sch B (100 mg/kg), MCAO+Sch B (100 mg/kg)+LY294002, and MCAO+Sch B (100 mg/kg)+wortmannin groups. The effects of Sch B on pathological indicators, including neurological deficit scores, cerebral infarct volume, and brain edema, were subsequently studied. Tissue apoptosis was identified by terminal transferase-mediated dUTP nick end-labeling (TUNEL) staining. The protein expressions involved in apoptosis, inflammation response and oxidative stress were examined by immunofluorescent staining, biochemical analysis and Western blot analysis, respectively. The effect of Sch B on phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling was also explored. RESULTS: Sch B treatment decreased neurological deficit scores, cerebral water content, and infarct volume in MCAO rats (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Neuronal nuclei and TUNEL staining indicated that Sch B also reduced apoptosis in brain tissues, as well as the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and caspase-3 expression (P<0.01). Sch B regulated the production of myeloperoxidase, malondialdehyde, nitric oxide and superoxide dismutase, as well as the release of cytokine interleukin (IL)-1 β and IL-18, in MCAO rats (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Sch B promoted the phosphorylation of PI3K and AKT. Blocking the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway with LY294002 or wortmannin reduced the protective effect of Sch B against cerebral ischemia (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Sch B reduced apoptosis, inflammatory response, and oxidative stress of MCAO rats by modulating the PI3K/AKT pathway. Sch B had a potential for treating cerebral ischemia.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the damaging of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) induced by antiplatelet integrin β3 antibodies in vitro. METHODS: The serum from 36 chronic ITP patients were collected, flow cytometry and monoclonal antibody specific immobilization of platelet antigen (MAIPA) assay were used to collect antiplatelet integrin β3 antibodies from the serum of the patients. After HUVEC were treated by ITP patient serum (PS) containing anti-integrin β3 antibodies, the cell damage was detected by Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay, cell apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry, the expression of apoptosis-related gene Bax was detected by Reverse transcription-Quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR), and expression of Apoptosis-related signaling pathway protein Akt and related protein Bax were detected by Western blot. HUVEC were treated by PS combined with Akt activator SC79, the cells damage were detected by LDH assay, apoptosis of the cells were detected by flow cytometry, the expression of apoptosis-related gene Bax was detected by RT-qPCR. RESULTS: Among 36 cases of serum from the chronic ITP patients, 5 patients' serum containing anti-integrin β3 antibodies were collected. After HUVEC was treated by PS, the viability of LDH was significant increased（P<0.05）, so as for the apoptosis of the cells（P<0.05）, the expression of gene and protein of Bax was increased up-regulated（P<0.05）, the protein expression of pAkt was down-regulated（P<0.05）. Comparing with HUVEC cultured with PS alone, the viability of LDH of HUVEC treated by PS combined with SC79 was significantly reduced（P<0.05）, so as for the apoptosis of the cells（P<0.05）, and gene expression of Bax was significantly decreased（P<0.05）. CONCLUSION Anti-integrin β3 serum can cause the damage and apoptosis of HUVEC through Akt signaling pathway，the apoptotic effects of anti-integrin β3 antibodies to HUVEC was effectively reversed by SC79.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expressions of microRNAs in peripheral blood of patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia(ITP) and its correlation with the imbalance of Th1/Th2 cells. METHODS: Thirty patients with ITP (ITP group) and 15 healthy people (control group) were enrolled．Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expressions of six miRNAs (miR-107,miR-205-5p,miR-138-5p,miR-326,miR-1827,miR-185-5p) and Th1-specific transcription factor T-bet mRNA and Th2-specific transcription factor GATA-3 mRNA in the peripheral blood of the two groups. Th1 and Th2 cells were detected by flow cytometry. The expressions of Th1-cytokines TNF-α and IFN-γ and Th2-cytokines IL-4 and IL-10 were detected by AimPlex multiple immunoassays for Flow. The expression difference of miRNAs, mRNA, Th1, Th2 cells and cytokines of the two groups were compared, and the correlations of miRNAs to mRNA, Th1, Th2 cells and cytokines were analyzed in ITP group. RESULTS: The expressions of miRNAs（miR-107, miR-205-5p, miR-138-5p, miR-326, miR-1827, miR-185-5p）and Th2-specific transcription factor GATA-3 mRNA of the patients in ITP group were significantly decreased (P<0.05) as compared with those in control, while the expressions of Th1 cells and Th1-specific transcription factor T-bet mRNA and Th1-cytokines TNF-α were significantly increased (P<0.05), also for the ratios of T-bet mRNA/GATA-3 mRNA and Th1/Th2 cells were significantly increased (P<0.05). The relative expressions of miR-107, miR-205-5p, miR-138-5p in ITP patients were negatively correlated with Th2 cells (r=-0.411, r=-0.593, r=-0.403,P<0.05) and the relative expression of miR-1827 was negatively correlated with TNF-α (r=-0.390). CONCLUSION The relative expressions of the six miRNAs in peripheral blood of patients with ITP are significantly decreased, which result in the increasing ratio of T-bet mRNA/GATA-3 mRNA, then lead to the imbalance of Th1/Th2.
