OBJECTIVES:
This study aims to investigate factors influencing dental arch development in patients aged 0-6 years with cleft palate after Sommerlad-Furlow (SF) palatoplasty.
METHODS:
A total of 183 patients who underwent primary SF repair for cleft lip and palate before 18 months of age were included. Follow-ups were conducted at different ages, and digital dental casts of the maxillary dental arch were obtained using 3-matic Research 12.0 software. The length and width of the dental arch and palate were measured to explore developmental changes in the maxillary dental arch of the patients after the procedure. The study also investigated the influence of gender, age, cleft palate type, and relaxation incision on maxillary dental arch development.
RESULTS:
After SF, maxillary dental arch measurements showed statistically significant differences between children aged 0-2 years and those aged 3-6 years (P<0.05). However, no statistically significant differences were observed among different age groups within the 3-6 years range. Statistically significant differences were detected between males and females, with males having greater width of the posterior dental arch and palate (P=0.001) and shorter length of the anterior dental arch and entire dental arch (P<0.05). The unilateral cleft lip and palate group had shorter dental arch length (P<0.01) and wider posterior palate (P<0.01) than the cleft palate only group. Maxillary dental arch measurements had no statistically significant differences between groups with or without a relaxing incision.
CONCLUSIONS
Gender and age influence the width of the maxillary dental arch in children aged 0-6 years after SF, while age and cleft palate type affect dental arch length.

Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmaceutics 2017;37(6):236-237
Objective To study the clinical effect of Huangkui capsule combined with valsartan in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.Methods50 patients with diabetic nephropathy treated in our hospital from April 2014 to October 2016 were selected as the research object in this study. They were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group (n=two), with each group having a total of 25 patients. The control group was treated with valsartan treatment, patients in the experimental group of Huangkui capsule combined with valsartan treatment, comparative analysis of the experimental group and the control group of patients the treatment effect and total cholesterol and urinary albumin excretion rate.ResultsBefore treatment, there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of triglyceride, total cholesterol and urinary albumin excretion rate, and there was no statistical significance. After treatment, the urinary protein excretion rate and cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistical difference (P<0.05).In the control group of 25 patients, the total effective number of cases in the case of 20 cases, the effective rate was 80.0%.In the control group of 25 patients, the total effective number of cases in the case of 24 cases, the effective rate was 96.0%.As a result, the treatment effect of the patients in the control group was significantly lower than that in the experimental group, with statistical difference (P<0.05).There were no serious complications in diabetic nephropathy patients in the experimental group and the control group.ConclusionHuangkui capsule combined with valsartan in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy can improve the treatment efficiency to a great extent, high safety, no significant adverse reactions, improve the quality of life of patients, the maximum extent to reduce the pain of patients, with further clinical promotion and application significance.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2009;34(8):781-784
OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the feature of cortical laminar necrosis (CLN) and to decrease the incidence of misdiagnosis and improve the treatment of CLN.
METHODS:
Ten patients with CLN in Xiangya Hospital of Central South were included in this study from June 2005 to May 2007. The clinical feature, laboratory examination, image manifestation, treatment, and turnover of patients were analysed.
RESULTS:
CLN might happen at any age. The obstacle of brain energy metabolism with sugar and/or oxygen in central nervous system and heredities or acquired blemish could result in CLN. CLN was characterized in histopathology and imaging.
CONCLUSION
Many etiological factors can lead to CLN. It has different clinical features and can be easily misdiagnosed as some other hemorrhagic diseases.
