OBJECTIVE:
To examine the mechanistic of organochlorine-associated changes in lung function.
METHODS:
This study investigated 76 healthy older adults in Jinan, Shandong Province, over a five-month period. Personal exposure to organochlorines was quantified using wearable passive samplers, while inflammatory factors and thyroid hormones were analyzed from blood samples. Participants' lung function was evaluated. After stratifying participants according to their thyroid hormone levels, we analyzed the differential effects of organochlorine exposure on lung function and inflammatory factors across the low and high thyroid hormone groups. Mediation analysis was further conducted to elucidate the relationships among organochlorine exposures, inflammatory factors, and lung function.
RESULTS:
Bis (2-chloro-1-methylethyl) ether (BCIE), was negatively associated with forced vital capacity (FVC, -2.05%, 95% CI: -3.11% to -0.97%), and associated with changes in inflammatory factors such as interleukin (IL)-2, IL-7, IL-8, and IL-13 in the low thyroid hormone group. The mediation analysis indicated a mediating effect of IL-2 (15.63%, 95% CI: 0.91% to 44.64%) and IL-13 (13.94%, 95% CI: 0.52% to 41.07%) in the association between BCIE exposure and FVC.
CONCLUSION
Lung function and inflammatory factors exhibited an increased sensitivity to organochlorine exposure at lower thyroid hormone levels, with inflammatory factors potentially mediating the adverse effects of organochlorines on lung function.

Cinnabar(HgS) was widely used in ancient times for medicinal purposes, religious rituals, and pigments. A group of bright red powdery clumps was excavated from Mawangdui Tomb No.3 of the Han Dynasty. Early studies considered the clumps as evidence of cinnabar's medicinal use during the Qin-Han period. This study employed a range of archaeometric techniques, including extended-depth-of-field stereo imaging, micro-CT, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry FTIR, to systematically analyze the material composition and structural characteristics of these remains. The results revealed that the cinnabar particles were granular, finely ground, and tightly bound to silk matrix, with no detectable excipients typically associated with medicinal formulations. Micro-CT imaging indicated a well-preserved textile structure, with clear signs of sedimentary accumulation and mechanical damage. Based on historical and archaeological studies, this study suggested that these remains were more likely degraded accumulations of cinnabar-colored silk textiles rather than medicinal cinnabar. By clarifying the diversity of ancient cinnabar applications and preservation states, this study provides new insights for the archaeological identification of mineral medicinal materials and contributes to the standardized study of Chinese medicinal materials and understanding of the historical use of cinnabar.

Objective To explore the relationship between disease risk perception and objective risk in stroke risk population, and to provide theoretical basis for prevention and control of stroke. Methods From February to May 2023,560 residents who participated in medical examinations in 2 community health service centers of Zhengzhou and Luohe were selected as respondents. The objective risk of stroke was assessed, and the general data questionnaire and Risk Perception Questionnaire for People at High Risk of Stroke were used for investigation.Logistic regression model and restricted cubic spline model were used to analyze the correlation and the dose-response relationship between disease risk perception and objective stroke risk. Results A total of 542 effective questionnaires were collected. The detection rate of stroke high-risk groups was 48.71%.Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting confounding factors, the objective risk of stroke in the general population and in different gender stratification decreased first and then increased with the increase of the level of disease risk perception. The results of the restricted cubic spline showed that the disease risk perception and objective risk of stroke in the total population and gender stratification showed a nonlinear dose-response relationship(P nonlinear<0.05),and the curve showed a"U"type change. The disease risk perception score of 90.0~110.0 was the protective factor of objective risk of stroke. Conclusion The objective risk of stroke decreases first and then increases with the increase of the perceived risk.Medical staff should maintain individual disease risk perception within the appropriate level, and pay attention to the difference in disease risk perception of different gender groups to implement targeted risk communication strategies,so as to promote the development of healthy behaviors and reduce the incidence of stroke.

Objective To evaluate the effect of physical activity interventions on anxiety in children and adolescents(aged four to 19 years),as well as the potential impact of modalities, dosages and population factors on outcomes. Methods Following PRISMA and PRIOR guidelines, systematic reviews and meta-analyses published between 2019 and 2025 that examined the relationship between physical activity and anxiety in children and adolescents were retrieved. The methodological quality of the included literature was assessed using AMSTAR 2,and the evidence was synthesized through a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Results A total of seven articles were included, among which four were of high quality, two were of moderate quality, and one was of low quality.Regular physical activity was found to reduce anxiety levels in children and adoles-cents,with a moderate effect size(SMD=-0.39 to-0.54).Resistance training and low-intensity exercise may be more effective.Evidence was insufficient and contradictory for optimal physical activity dosage. Conclusion Physical activity is a promising, safe and accessible non-pharmacological strategy that can be used for the prevention and auxiliary treatment of anxiety in children and adolescents.

Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of physical activity on sleep function in children with attention deficit hy-peractivity disorder(ADHD)and autism spectrum disorder(ASD). Methods A systematic review was conducted by searching relevant literature in CNKI,Wanfang data,PubMed,PsycIN-FO,Web of Science and SPORTDiscus databases, ranging from inception to August,2024. Results A total of eight randomized controlled trials were included, originating from China,Germany,Turkey and the United States, involving 311 participants, and were published in journals related to psychology, medicine and sports science. The participants were aged between four and twelve years, and the primary health conditions in-cluded inattention,hyperactivity/impulsivity and combined types. The scores of PEDro scale of the included stud-ies ranged from five to eight, indicating overall study quality as moderate to good. The types of interventions mainly included physical education programs, adaptive physical activities and exercise rehabilitation. The dura-tion of the interventions was 30 to 60 minutes per session, one to three times per week, over a period of two to twelve weeks, with moderate to high intensity.Physical activity could improve sleep quality, shorten sleep laten-cy and enhance sleep efficiency in children with ADHD and ASD.Regular participation in physical education or group sports activities improved children's sleep quality and efficiency, and also enhanced social skills and emo-tional regulation.Adaptive physical activities effectively improved sleep behaviors in children with ASD and helped regulate emotions and alleviate anxiety.Exercise rehabilitation improved sleep quality and reduced night-time awakenings in children with ADHD. Conclusion Physical activity can improve sleep quality, enhance sleep efficiency, shorten sleep latency and improve the overall quality of life in children with ADHD and ASD.
