Korean Journal of Radiology 2016;17(2):175-181
According to the reports presented at the Asian Radiology Forum 2015, organized by the Korean Society of Radiology (KSR) during the Korean Congress of Radiology (KCR) in September 2015 in Seoul, there is an increasing need to promote international exchange and collaboration amongst radiology societies in Asian countries. The Asian Radiology Forum was first held by KSR and the national delegates of Asian radiological partner societies, who attended this meeting with the aim of discussing selected subjects of global relevance in radiology. In 2015, current stands, pros and cons, and future plans for inter-society collaboration between each Asian radiological partner societies were primarily discussed. The Asian radiology societies have international collaborations with each other through various activities, such as joint symposia, exchange programs, social exchange, and international membership. The advantages of continuing inter-society collaboration in most of the Asian radiology societies include international speakers, diverse clinical research, and cutting edge technology; while limited range of financial and human resources, language barrier, differences in goals and expectations are claimed as disadvantages. With regard to the future, most of the Asian radiology societies focus on expanding partner societies and enhancing globalization and collaboration programs through various international meetings and exchange programs.

Annals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore 2015;44(3):98-108
In response to the demands of an ageing nation, the postgraduate medical education in Singapore is currently in the early stage of transition into the American-styled residency programme. This study assessed the expectations of both radiology trainees and faculty on their ideal clinical learning environment (CLE) which facilitates the programme development. A modified 23-item questionnaire was administered to both trainees and faculty at a local training hospital. All items were scored according to their envisioned level of importance and categorised into 5 main CLE domains-supervision, formal training programme, work-based learning, social atmosphere and workload. 'Supervision' was identified as the most important domain of the CLE by both trainees and faculty, followed by 'formal training programmes', 'work-based learning' and 'social atmosphere'. 'Workload' was rated as the least important domain. For all domains, the reported expectation between both trainees and faculty respondents did not differ significantly. Intragroup comparison also showed no significant difference within each group of respondents. This study has provided valuable insights on both respondents' expectations on their ideal CLE that can best train competency in future radiologists. Various approaches to address these concerns were also discussed. The similarities in findings between ours and previous studies suggest that the 'supervision', 'formal training programmes' and 'work-based learning' domains are crucial for the success of a postgraduate medical training and should be emphasised in future curriculum. 'Workload' remains a challenge in postgraduate medical training, but attempts to address this will have an impact in future radiology training.

6.Imaging-Based Tumor Treatment Response Evaluation: Review of Conventional, New, and Emerging Concepts.

Korean Journal of Radiology 2012;13(4):371-390
Tumor response may be assessed readily by the use of Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumor version 1.1. However, the criteria mainly depend on tumor size changes. These criteria do not reflect other morphologic (tumor necrosis, hemorrhage, and cavitation), functional, or metabolic changes that may occur with targeted chemotherapy or even with conventional chemotherapy. The state-of-the-art multidetector CT is still playing an important role, by showing high-quality, high-resolution images that are appropriate enough to measure tumor size and its changes. Additional imaging biomarker devices such as dual energy CT, positron emission tomography, MRI including diffusion-weighted MRI shall be more frequently used for tumor response evaluation, because they provide detailed anatomic, and functional or metabolic change information during tumor treatment, particularly during targeted chemotherapy. This review elucidates morphologic and functional or metabolic approaches, and new concepts in the evaluation of tumor response in the era of personalized medicine (targeted chemotherapy).

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2012;29(3):424-428
Electronic medical records (EMR) is the clinical diagnosis, guiding intervention and digital medical service record of outpatient, hospital patients (or care object) in medical institution. And it is the complete, detailed clinical information resource which has produced and recorded in all previous medical treatments. Radiotherapy electronic medical records contain texts, images and graphics, therefore the information is more complicated. This paper proposes an EMR information system based on DICOM-RT standard, through the use of seven objects of DICOM-RT to achieve the information exchange and sharing between different systems, equipments, convenient radiotherapy treatment data management, improve the efficiency of radiation treatment.

Singapore medical journal 2012;53(7):423-quiz 427
Radiology is an important adjunct to clinical practice, but for many clinicians, requesting X-rays was something that was learnt on the job. This article provides guidelines on when and how to request X-rays for acute conditions such as head and cervical spine trauma, suspected rib and extremity fractures, low back pain and acute abdominal pain. We also highlight what to write in the request form, in order to obtain maximum value from the examination and allow the radiologist to generate a useful, accurate report.

9.Research on DICOM SR.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2011;28(1):45-48
This paper is aimed to research into the information model of the Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) Structured Reporting (SR), and to introduce DICOM information object definitions (IODs) and services used for the storage and transmission of SR. The DICOM services are concerned with storage, query, retrieval, and transfer of data, and give a brief introduction to DICOM DIR. DICOM DIR is a file based on medical information. According to the DICOM DIR definition in the DICOM part ten, it may be found that the composite objects referenced in the DICOM SR. So putting forward the management of DICOM files by DICOM DIR sets, It effectively improves the efficiency of the object referenced by SR. This can increase the ability to access the data. For scientific research, medical data mining and applications, DICOM SR can profit the communication of medical information in different hospitals, and this can be useful for the analysis, research, summary, classification and extraction of a large quantity of medical information.

10.The study and implementation of DICOM conformance in the network printing of PACS.
Zhiqian YE ; Weimin ZHANG ; Yingjie XIE
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2006;23(2):248-251
To implement the network printing in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), each level of DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) print management service is defined by means of object oriented method, and the corresponding events and properties are implemented with C++ language. It is tested on laser printers of AGFA, KODAK and FUJI to determine whether the network environment supports the print management service and implements the presentation LUT (Look Up Table) correctly. The quality control of printing at the level of data flow is also assessed. The program finally succeeds in realizing the network printing based on DICOM in hospital environment.
