The rapid development of artificial intelligence （AI） technology provides new opportunities for the modernisation of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） diagnosis. By analysing the foundation， research progress and difficulties of the combination of AI and TCM diagnosis， it is concluded that AI has made remarkable development in intelligence-driven modernization of TCM tongue diagnosis， pulse diagnosis， listening and smelling diagnosis and text processing， and there are useful explorations in the field of constructing data-driven TCM diagnostic model and multidisciplinary integration of TCM diagnostic models. However， the current integration of AI technology in TCM diagnosis still faces many challenges， such as the scarcity and uneven quality of clinical data， the limited ability of AI algorithms to express TCM thinking model of syndrome differentiation and empirical knowledge， and the possible existence of ethical and privacy issues. By systematically sorting out the current research status and development direction of AI-empowered TCM diagnostics， it is proposed to promote the application of AI technology in TCM diagnostics in four aspects， namely， strengthening the construction of TCM big data and talent cultivation， encouraging cross-disciplinary cooperation， improving the legal and ethical framework， and promoting the popularity of the technology in primary care， so as to enhance the modernisation of TCM diagnostics.

Ferroptosis is a form of iron-dependent cell death caused by a disorder of iron lipid metabolism.Its mechanism mainly includes lipid metabolism and iron metabolism,which are complicated and strictly regulated by various metabolic and signaling pathways.Current studies have shown that ferroptosis is associated with cancer,atherosclerosis,and neurological diseases.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is characterized by various active ingredients,relatively high safety,and lower treatment costs,which possess unique advantages in clinical applications.It has been widely used in the treatment of various diseases.Taking the regulation of ferroptosis by traditional Chinese medicine as the entry point may be a new direction for the future prevention and treatment of various diseases.In this review,we discussed the mechanism of iron lipid metabolic disorders based on ferroptosis and the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine intervention to provide reference and treatment strategies for the prevention and treatment of related diseases.

Objective:To translate the Illness Identity Questionnaire (IIQ) into Chinese and test its reliability and validity.Methods:The English version of IIQ was translated into Chinese and back-translated according to the Brislin model. The item of the Chinese version was determined after cross-cultural adaptation and pre-experiment. A total of 368 patients with IBD treated in the First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University from September 2022 to March 2023 were selected for a questionnaire survey to evaluate the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Results:The Chinese version of IIQ contained 24 items in four dimensions. Four common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 64.025%. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that each fitting index of the modified model was within the acceptable range. The Cronbach's α coefficients of rejection, acceptance, engulfing, and enrichment in Chinese IIQ were respectively 0.780, 0.800, 0.921, and 0.917. The split-half reliability coefficients were 0.824, 0.818, 0.943, and 0.929; the retest reliability coefficients were 0.695, 0.667, 0.725, and 0.572, respectively.Conclusions:The Chinese version of IIQ is reliable and valid and can be used to assess illness identity in patients with chronic diseases.

To examine the molecular epidemiology of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) and investigate the horizontal transmission of blaKPC and blaNDM genes for the prevention and treatment of CRKP. A total of 49 clinically isolated CRKP strains were retrospectively analyzed from January to December 2022 at The First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. Phenotypic screening was performed using modified carbapenem inactivation assay (mCIM) and EDTA-carbapenem inactivation assay (eCIM). Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was utilized to identify carbapenem resistance genes, β-lactamase resistance genes, and virulence genes, while multi-locus sequence analysis (MLST) was employed to assess the homology of CRKP strains. Conjugation experiments were conducted to infer the horizontal transmission mechanism of blaKPC and blaNDM genes. The results showed that the study included 49 CRKP strains, with 44 carrying blaKPC and 8 carrying blaNDM, Three strains were identified as blaKPC+ blaNDM-CRKP. In this study, 28 out of 49 CRKP strains (57.2%) were found to carry virulence genes. Additionally, one CRKP strain tested positive in the string test and was found to carry both Aerobactin and rmpA virulence genes. MLST results revealed a total of 5 ST types, with ST11 being predominant (41/49, 83.7%). Successful conjugation was observed in all 3 blaKPC-CRKP strains, while only 1 out of 3 blaNDM-CRKP strains showed successful conjugation. The transconjugant exhibited significantly reduced susceptibility to imipenem and cephalosporin antibiotics. In conclusion, the resistance mechanism of CRKP in this study is primarily attributed to the production of KPC enzymes, along with the presence of multiple β-lactamase resistance genes. Additionally, there is a local prevalence of hv-CRKP and blaKPC+ blaNDM-CRKP. blaKPC and blaNDM can be horizontally transmitted through plasmids, with varying efficiency among different strains.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of lenvatinib combined with camrelizumab as the second-line treatment for advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC).Methods:The clinical data of patients with advanced ICC undergoing the second-line treatment of lenvatinib combined with camrelizumab in the Affiliated Changzhou No. 2 People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from June 2021 to June 2022 were screened and analyzed. A total of 12 patients were enrolled, including seven males and five females, aged (67.5±8.6) years. Response evaluation criteria in solid tumor 1.1 was used to evaluate the efficacy of treatment. The safety assessment adopts the Adverse Event Evaluation Standard 5.0. Kaplan-Meier method was conducted to plot survival curves.Results:Among the 12 patients (after 1-7 cycles of immune and targeted therapy), three achieved partial response, four achieved stable disease, and five were defined as progression disease. Adverse events of different degrees occurred in seven cases, among which three patients had adverse events of grade ≥ 3: one with hypertension, which was managed after antihypertensive and symptomatic treatment; one with elevated serum total bilirubin, which was improved after reducing the dose of lenvatinib; one with liver dysfunction, which was considered as immune-related liver toxicity and alleviated after discontinuing camrelizumab. The 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month survival rates and progression-free survival rates of the patients were 100.0%, 91.7%, 66.7%, and 83.3%, 41.7%, and 25.0%, respectively. The median overall survival of patients was 14.7 months (95% CI: 9.2-21.2) and the median time to progression was 8.0 months (95% CI: 4.1-11.9). Conclusion:Combination of lenvatinib and camrelizumab could bring survival benefits with controllable adverse events as the second-line treatment of patients with advanced ICC.

Objective To explore the potential categories and influencing factors of the fear of progression in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD).Methods IBD patients who received inpatient treatment in a tertiary hospital in Nanjing from July 2022 to July 2023 were selected as the study subjects by convenience sampling method.The General Demographic Information Questionnaire,the Chinese version of the Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form(FoP-Q-SF),the Chinese version of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Self-efficacy Scale(IBD-SES),and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)were administered to the participants.We applied one-way ANOVA and Logistic regression analysis to identify the factors associated with the potential categories of the fear of progression.Results A total of 303 retumed questionnaires(out of the 310)were valid,resulting an effective response rate of 97.74％.According to the results of latent profile analysis,we classified the respondents into 3 categories by the fear of progression,namely"low risk fear of disease adaptation group"(n=127,41.91％),"medium risk fear of illness distress group"(n=139,45.88％),"high risk fear of dysfunction group"(n=37,12.21％).3 groups showed statistically significant differences in permanent address,self-rated financial pressure,current disease status and self-efficacy(P＜0.05).Conclusion Patients with IBD had obvious differences in characteristics on the fear of progression.Nursing personnel should formulate personalized intervention strategies based on the classification characteristics of the fear of progression of IBD patients.Moreover,nurses should focus on improving patients'self-efficacy and promoting patients to treat medical care,stress and emotion management correctly.

The abuse of antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs has led to a significant increase in the prevalence of bacterial drug resistance. The advent of nanotechnology offers a promising way to address this challenge. Metal nanomaterials have emerged as a prominent class of antimicrobial agents, offering a number of advantages, including ease of preparation, high stability, potent efficacy against drug-resistant bacteria, and low toxicity. In this review, the antibacterial mechanisms of metal nanomaterials and the current research progress of gold, silver, copper, iron, platinum, palladium, and gallium nanomaterials and their application in the field of antibacterial were summarized with the aim of providing reference for the antibacterial use of metal nanomaterials.

Diseases caused by microbial infections, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses, are increasing every year. Currently, antibiotics are the primary treatment method for bacterial infections. However, over use of antibiotics can easily lead to bacterial resistance. Due to the broad-spectrum antibacterial properties of copper nanomaterials, they exhibit excellent antibacterial activity against both gram-negative bacteria and gram-positive bacteria. In this review, the preparation methods of copper nanomaterials were summarized, the antibacterial and antiviral effects of copper nanomaterials, and their applications in the fields of antibacterial and antiviral were discussed. Finally, the problems of copper nanomaterials in terms of toxicity and stability were summarized, and their future applications in the fields of antibacterial and antiviral were prospected.

Microneedles (MNs) serve as a revolutionary paradigm in transdermal drug delivery, heralding a viable resolution to the formidable barriers presented by the cutaneous interface. This review examines MNs as an advanced approach to enhancing dermatological pathology management. It explores the complex dermis structure and highlights the limitations of traditional transdermal methods, emphasizing MNs' advantage in bypassing the stratum corneum to deliver drugs directly to the subdermal matrix. The discourse outlines the diverse typologies of MNs, including solid, coated, hollow, hydrogel, and dissolvable versions. Each type is characterized by its unique applications and benefits. The treatise details the deployment of MNs in the alleviation of cutaneous cancers, the administration of inflammatory dermatoses such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, and their utility in wound management. Additionally, the paper contemplates the prospects of MNs within the realm of aesthetic dermatology and the burgeoning market traction of cosmetic MN formulations. The review summarizes the scientific and commercial challenges to the clinical adoption of MN therapeutics, including dosage calibration, pharmacodynamics, biocompatibility, patient compliance, sterilization, mass production, and regulatory oversight. It emphasizes the need for ongoing research, innovation, and regulatory harmonization to overcome these obstacles and fully realize MNs' potential in treating skin diseases and improving patient welfare.
