1.Efficacy and safety of intensity-modulated radiotherapy versus stereotactic body radiotherapy in treatment of locally advanced pancreatic cancer: A meta-analysis

ObjectiveTo systematically analyze the differences in therapeutic efficacy between intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC), and to provide a basis for treatment decision-making. MethodsPubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang Data, and VIP databases were searched for prospective or retrospective cohort studies on IMRT versus SBRT for the treatment of LAPC published up to July 31, 2025. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to assess the quality of studies, and Review Manager 5.4 was used to perform the Meta-analysis. ResultsA total of 23 studies involving 2 505 patients were included. In terms of local control rate, an analysis of 13 studies with 847 patients showed that the SBRT group had a significantly higher 1-year local control rate than the IMRT group (84.5% vs 66.7%, relative risk [RR]=1.27, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.03 — 1.56, I2=28%, P=0.026). In terms of acute toxicity, an analysis of 15 studies showed that the SBRT group had a significantly lower incidence rate of grade≥3 acute toxicity than the IMRT group (3.5% vs 11.0%, RR=0.32, 95%CI: 0.19 — 0.53, I2=18%, P<0.001). There was no significant difference in overall survival between the SBRT group and the IMRT group (16.8 months vs 16.3 months). The subgroup analysis of local control rate showed that in the 9 high-quality studies, the SBRT group had a significantly higher local control rate than the IMRT group (RR=1.25, P<0.001), and a similar result was observed in the 4 moderate-quality studies (RR=1.31, P=0.021); the stratified analysis based on technique platforms showed that the MR-guided technique group showed the largest effect size (RR=1.40, I2=10%). The sensitivity analysis showed that the RR value ranged from 1.21 to 1.28, with stable results. The Egger regression analysis showed no significant publication bias (P>0.05). ConclusionSBRT is superior to IMRT in terms of local control rate and acute toxicity and is a preferred treatment option for LAPC, with the MR-guided techniques showing the best performance.
2.Effects of emodin on proliferation, adhesion, migration and c-kit mRNA and protein expression of human epidermal melanocytes

Objective:To investigate the effects of emodin on proliferation, adhesion, migration, c-kit mRNA and protein expression of human epidermal melanocytes.Methods:Human epidermal melanocytes cultured in vitro were treated with different concentrations of emodin, a blank control group (containing medium + human epidermal melanocytes) and an experimental group (containing medium + human epidermal melanocytes + different concentrations of emodin) were set up. Cell proliferation was measured by CCK-8 method, cell adhesion was measured by microplate assay, cell migration was measured by Transwell membrane assay, and c-kit mRNA expression was measured by reverse transcription-polymerase polymerase chain reaction; Western blot was used to detect the expression of c-kit protein.Results:Compared with the blank control group, emodin decreased the proliferation, adhesion and migration of human epidermal melanocytes, the difference was statistically significant ( F=391.48, P<0.0001; F=10.93, P=0.003; F=7.75, P=0.009). Compared with the blank control group, emodin in the experimental group had a bidirectional effect on the expression of c-kit mRNA and protein. High concentration of emodin inhibited the expression of c-kit mRNA and protein, and the expression of c-kit mRNA and protein was significantly increased by Emodin ( F=11.491, P=0.003; F=2155.11, P<0.001). Conclusions:Emodin inhibits the proliferation, adhesion and migration of human epidermal melanocytes, high concentration of emodin inhibits the expression of c-kit mRNA and protein, and low concentration of emodin promotes the expression of c-kit mRNA and protein, and the results provide a basis for the clinical application of emodin in pigmented dermatosis.
3.Comprehensive Proteomic Profiling of Patients' Tears Identifies Potential Biomarkers for the Traumatic Vegetative State.

The vegetative state is a complex condition with unclear mechanisms and limited diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic methods. In this study, we aimed to explore the proteomic profile of tears from patients in a traumatic vegetative state and identify potential diagnostic markers using tears-a body fluid that can be collected non-invasively. Using iTRAQ quantitative proteomic technology, in the discovery phase, tear samples collected from 16 patients in a traumatic vegetative state and 16 normal individuals were analyzed. Among 1080 identified tear proteins, 57 were upregulated and 15 were downregulated in the patients compared to the controls. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the differentially-expressed proteins were mainly involved in the wound response and immune response signaling pathways. Furthermore, we verified the levels of 7 differentially-expressed proteins in tears from 50 traumatic vegetative state patients and 50 normal controls (including the samples used in the discovery phase) using ELISA. The results showed that this 7-protein panel had a high discrimination ability for traumatic vegetative state (area under the curve = 0.999). In summary, the altered tear proteomic profile identified in this study provides a basis for potential tear protein markers for diagnosis and prognosis of the traumatic vegetative state and also provides novel insights into the mechanisms of traumatic vegetative state.

4.Amplitude-Integrated Electroencephalography Predicts Outcome in Patients with Coma After Acute Brain Injury.

Prognostication of coma patients after brain injury is important, yet challenging. In this study, we evaluated the predictive value of amplitude-integrated electroencephalography (aEEG) for neurological outcomes in coma patients. From January 2013 to January 2016, 128 coma patients after acute brain injury were prospectively enrolled and monitored with aEEG. The 6-month neurological outcome was evaluated using the Cerebral Performance Category Scale. aEEG monitoring commenced at a median of 7.5 days after coma onset. Continuous normal voltage predicted a good 6-month neurological outcome with a sensitivity of 93.6% and specificity of 85.2%. In contrast, continuous extremely low voltage, burst-suppression, or a flat tracing was correlated with poor 6-month neurological outcome with a sensitivity of 76.5% and specificity of 100%. In conclusion, aEEG is a promising predictor of 6-month neurological outcome for coma patients after acute brain injury.

5.Arterial switch operation for Taussig-Bing anomaly

Objective To report the experience of the arterial switch operation(ASO) for Taussig-Bing anomaly and late outcomes.Methods From January 2001 to December 2015,57 patients were underwent arterial switch operation for Taussig-Bing anomaly in Fudan university affiliated children's hospital cardiac center,Median age and weight at operation was 63(37.5-88.5)days, 4.1(3.4-5.0)kg, respectively.29 patients with Arch anomalies(50.9%), 23 patients with unusual coronaries(40.3%),according to have arch anomaly or not and surgery time, dividing the patients into two groups, group A(have, n=29)and group B(not have, n=28), earlier experience into group 1(2001-2008, n=27), later experience into group 2(2009-2015, n=30), respectively.Results The Mortality was12.3%, the mortality of group A and group B was 13.8%, 10.7%(P>0.05),group 1 and group 2 was 22.2%, 3.3%(P<0.05) respectively, follow up was complete in 47 patients with a mean follow-up of(6.2±3.5) years , three patients lost, there was no late mortality, the actual survival at 1, 5year was 87%, 87%, respectively.Reintervention was required in 10 patients(21.3%), the aorta-PA valve diameter ratio was a risk factor for reintervention(group A P=0.02, group B P=0.04) ,and 1,2,5year free of reintervention was 95.6%, 86.6%, 77.2%, respectively.Conclusion The ASO approach can be applied to Taussig-Bing anomaly with acceptable mortality , and it is the procedure of choice at our institution.One stage to repair TBA with aortic arch abnormalities did not influence outcomes.The aorta-PA valve diameter ratio<0.5 was a risk factor for reintervention.
