BackgroundAdolescents with depressive disorder often engage in non-suicidal self-injury （NSSI） behaviors， which severely impacts their physical and mental health. Impulsivity and emotional regulation are key factors influencing NSSI behaviors. However， research on the mechanisms through which impulsivity and emotional regulation affect NSSI behaviors in adolescent depressive disorder patients with NSSI remains insufficient， limiting the development of effective intervention strategies. ObjectiveTo explore the differences in impulsivity and emotion regulation abilities between adolescent patients with depressive disorder accompanied by and without NSSI behaviors， and to analyze the association between NSSI behaviors and impulsivity and emotion regulation abilities in adolescent patients with depressive disorder accompanied by NSSI behaviors. MethodsA total of 184 adolescents hospitalized in the child and adolescent psychiatry department of Wuxi Mental Health Center from October 2023 to August 2024， who met the diagnostic criteria for depressive disorder according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders， fifth edition （DSM-5）， were consecutively enrolled as study subjects. Based on the diagnostic criteria for NSSI in DSM-5， patients were divided into NSSI group （n=108） and non-NSSI group （n=76）. The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11 （BIS-11）， the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire （ERQ）， the Adolescent Self-Harm Questionnaire， and the Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation （PANSI） were used for assessment. Spearman correlation analysis was employed to explore the correlation between the scores of the Adolescent Self-Harm Questionnaire and the scores of BIS-11 and ERQ in the NSSI group. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of impulsivity and emotion regulation on NSSI behaviors in the NSSI group. ResultsCompared to the non-NSSI group， the NSSI group showed significantly higher scores in BIS-11 non-planned impulsivity （Z=-4.181， P<0.05）， action impulsivity （t=4.944， P<0.05）， cognitive impulsivity （Z=-3.392， P<0.05）， and total score （t=4.763， P<0.05）， and lower scores in the cognitive reappraisal of ERQ （t=-4.094， P<0.05） and total score （Z=-2.299， P<0.05）， and higher scores in the expression inhibition of ERQ （Z=-3.019， P<0.05）. The correlation analysis results showed that the score of the adolescent self-harm questionnaire in the NSSI group was positively correlated with the behavioral impulsivity factor score in the BIS-11 （r=0.434， P<0.05）. Multiple regression analysis indicated that action impulsivity factor was a significant correlate of self-injury behaviors in the NSSI group （B=0.855， P<0.05）， explaining 22.30% of the total variance. ConclusionAdolescent patients with depressive disorder accompanied by NSSI behaviors exhibit higher levels of impulsivity and poorer emotional regulation abilities. Objective To investigate the mechanism of long non-coding RNA(LncRNA)FUT8-AS1 on diabetic ischemia-reperfusion injury by regulating growth differentiation factor 15(GDF15).Methods Male SD rats were randomly divided into Sham group,cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury(MCAO/R)group,diabetic cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury(DM-MCAO/R)group,DM-MCAO/R+sh NC group,and DM-MCAO/R+sh FUT8-AS1 group.TTC staining was used to assess the size of cerebral infarction.Tunel staining was selected to evaluate the apoptosis of neurons in brain tissue.Nissl staining was used to assess the number of neurons in brain tissue.The expression of LncRNA FUT8-AS1,GDF15 mRNA in Willis arterial loop and internal carotid artery tissues were detected by qRT-PCR.The expression of α-SMA,eNOS,p-eNOS,GDF15 protein in Willis arterial loop and internal carotid artery was detected by Western blot.The rat brain microvascular endothelial cells were divided into control(Con)group,OGD/R group,HG-OGD/R group,HG-OGD/R+sh NC group,HG-OGD/R+sh FUT8-AS1 group,HG-OGD/R+sh FUT8-AS1+oe NC group,and HG-OGD/R+sh FUT8-AS1+oe GDF15 group.MTT assay was used to detect cell viability.Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)assay was used to detect cell damage.The expression ofα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA),endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS),p-eNOS protein was detected by Western blot.Results Compared with the Sham group,the percentage of cerebral infarction,the number of Tunel-positive cells,the FUT8-AS1 and mRNA expression of GDF15 and the expression of GDF-15 protein increased(P<0.05),and the expression of α-SMA,eNOS,p-eNOS proteins decreased in the MCAO/R group(P<0.05),and the number of neurons in the hippocampus decreased,the morphology was shrunk,and the color was dark in the MCAO/R group.Compared with the MCAO/R group,the percentage of cerebral infarction,the number of Tunel-positive cells,the FUT8-AS1 and mRNA expression of GDF15 and the expression of GDF-15 protein increased(P<0.05),and the expression of α-SMA,eNOS,p-eNOS proteins decreased in the DM-MCAO/R group(P<0.05),and the number of neurons in the hippocampus decreased in the DM-MCAO/R group.Compared with the DM-MCAO/R+sh NC group,the percentage of cerebral infarction,the number of Tunel-positive cells,the FUT8-AS1 and mRNA expression of GDF15 and the expression of GDF-15 protein decreased(P<0.05),and the expression of α-SMA,eNOS,p-eNOS proteins increased in the DM-MCAO/R+sh FUT8-AS1 group(P<0.05),and the number of neurons in the hippocampus increased in the DM-MCAO/R+sh FUT8-AS1 group.Compared with the Con group,the LDH release,FUT8-AS1 expression,GDF15 mRNA and protein expression increased(P<0.05),and the cell activity,α-SMA,eNOS,and p-eNOS protein expressions decreased in the OGD/R group(P<0.05).Compared with the OGD/R group,the LDH release,FUT8-AS1 expression,GDF15 mRNA and protein expression increased(P<0.05),and the cell activity,α-SMA,eNOS,and p-eNOS protein expressions decreased in the HG-OGD/R group(P<0.05).Compared with the HG-OGD/R+sh NC group,the LDH release,FUT8-AS1 expression,GDF15 mRNA and protein expression decreased(P<0.05),and the cell activity,α-SMA,eNOS,and p-eNOS protein expressions increased in the HG-OGD/R+sh FUT8-AS1 group(P<0.05).Compared with the HG-OGD/R+sh NC group,the LDH release,GDF15 mRNA and protein expression increased(P<0.05),and the cell activity decreased in the HG-OGD/R+oe GDF15 group(P<0.05).Compared with the HG-OGD/R+sh FUT8-AS1+oe NC group,the expression of α-SMA,eNOS,p-eNOS proteins decreased in the HG-OGD/R+sh FUT8-AS1+oe GDF15 group(P<0.05).Conclusions LncRNA FUT8-AS1 may exacerbate diabetic cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by regulating GDF15.

Objective:To investigate the effects of wheat-grain moxibustion at the Guanyuan point on testosterone(T)synthe-sis and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal(HPG)axis in naturally aged mice.Methods:We fed 40 twelve-month-old SPF male C57BL/6J mice with a normal diet for 3 months,randomized them into a moxibustion and an aged group of an equal number,and se-lected 7 four-month-old ones as young controls.We treated the animals of the moxibustion group by wheat-grain moxibustion at the Guanyuan point,once 5 moxibustion sticks,qd,5 times a week,and fed those of the aged group normally,all for 12 weeks.After treatment,we obtained the testicular index of the mice,observed the histomorphology of the testis tissue by HE staining,measured the contents of T in the testis,gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)in the hypothalamus and total T(tT),free T(fT),luteinizing hormone(LH)and follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)in the serum by ELISA,and determined the expressions of silence information regulator-1(SIRT1),P53,glutathione peroxidase(GPX4)and cholesterol side-chain?cleavage enzym e(CYP11A1)in the testis by Western blot.Results:Compared with the young controls,the mice in the aged group showed obviously losing and dull hair,energy declination,loose structure of the spermatogenic tubule with different degrees of cell loss and rupture,reduced testicular index,and ev-ident aging phenotype.In comparison with the aged mice,the animals of the moxibustion group were fairly energetic and exhibited dis-tinct structure of the spermatogenic tubules,orderly arranged and highly differentiated cells at all levels,significantly increased T lev-el,up-regulated expressions of SIRT1,GPX4 and CYP11 A1,and down-regulated expression of P53 in testis tissue,and elevated levels of GnRH,FSH,LH,tT and fT in the HPG axis.Conclusion:Wheat-grain moxibustion at the Guanyuan point protects testosterone synthesis in the testis tissue of naturally aged mice,promotes negative feedback regulation of the HPG axis,and improves low testoster-one.

Objective:To investigate intraoperative pathological findings and the interventional effects of "deep cervical lymphaticovenous anastomosis+" (dcLVA+) on deep cervical lymphatic drainage as well as the blood flow of carotid artery and jugular vein in elderly patients with cognitive impairment, and to put forward the thoughts based on the findings from the surgery.Methods:Between May 2024 and December 2024, retrospective analysis of Microsurgery Hospital, Fengcheng Hospital, Xi'an Medical College performed dcLVA+ between the deep cervical lymphatics or lymph nodes and jugular veins in 50 elderly patients with cognitive impairment (19 males and 31 females, aged 55-88 years with 69.94 years in average). Nine patients were found with Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) score at 1 (mild), 7 with CDR score at 2 (moderate) and 34 with CDR score at 3 (severe). Intraoperative observations based on literature reviews had identified anatomical relationships between the lymphatic sacs containing cervical lymphatic chain and the carotid sheath. The lymph node count, size, distribution, thickness of fat tissue and conditions of lymphatic vessels were documented. Ultrasound was used to compare the blood flow of carotid artery and jugular vein as well as the cross-sectional areas at the planes of hyoid and cricoid cartilage before and after the closure of incisions under anaesthesia in 39 patients. Correlation analyses for Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCa), Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Agitation behavior score before and 1 week after surgery were performed using Spearman's correlation and Wilcoxon paired tests. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Postoperative follow-ups were conducted via the visit of outpatient clinic and WeChat and telephone interviews. Results:In surgery, the cervical lymphatic chain was found running within an almost enclosed sac surrounding the carotid sheath. There were enlarged lymph nodes, increased fat deposition, lymphatic dilation or fibrosis in the sac. The preoperative blood flow in the carotid artery at the planes of hyoid and cricoid cartilage in the 39 patients was recorded at 150.52 ml/min±40.33 ml/min and 358.29 ml/min±129.30 ml/min, while that in the jugular vein was at 172.50 ml/min±63.94 ml/min and 317.00 ml/min±105.21 ml/min, respectively, both were far lower than the normal blood flow. There were statistically significant differences in the blood flow of carotid artery and jugular vein before and after surgery ( P<0.01). It was found that the preoperative blood flow of the internal carotid artery at the plane of hyoid was positively correlated with the preoperative scores of MMSE ( P<0.01), MoCa ( P<0.05) and ADL ( P<0.01). The blood flow of the common carotid artery at the plane of cricoid cartilage was found significantly and positively correlated with the preoperative scores of MMSE ( P<0.05). It was also noted that the blood flow of the internal carotid artery at the plane of hyoid was significantly and positively correlated with the postoperative ADL ( P<0.01) but negatively correlated with the Agitation behavior score ( P<0.05). The blood flow of the common carotid artery at the plane of cricoid cartilage was significantly and positively correlated with the postoperative scores of MMSE and MoCa ( P<0.05). The blood flow of the internal jugular vein at the plane of hyoid was negatively correlated with the Agitation behavior score ( P<0.01). The cross-sectional area of carotid artery at the plane of left hyoid was significantly and positively correlated with the MMSE score ( P<0.05). Statistically significant differences were observed in MMSE, MoCa, ADL and Agitation behavior score before and after surgery ( P<0.01). Conclusion:dcLVA+ shows a certain therapeutic benefit to the elderly patients with cognitive impairment. The intraoperatively observed pathological changes in cervical lymphatic sacs affect deep cervical lymphatic drainage and the blood flow of carotid artery and jugular vein. Further studies are necessary to find out whether the findings from this study would be the specific pathological changes and the morbidity mechanisms among the elderly patients with cognitive impairment.

Objective To validate the diagnostic performance and risk stratification ability of an AI-based recognition system(PE-AI)for pulmonary embolism(PE)using computed tomography pulmonary angiography(CTPA)so as to analyze its diagnostic value in clinical practice.Methods A total of 416 patients with suspected PE who underwent CTPA from January 1,2023 to December 10,2023 at our hospital were included in this study.Two junior radiologists and PE-AI separately detected and diagnosed emboli in the collected cases by double-blind method,and recorded the diagnosis time respectively.Three senior radiologists reviewing with clinical follow-up results were used as the gold standard in this study.Diagnostic performance was evaluated by using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis and Delong-t test.For positive cases,the pulmonary artery obstruction index(PAOI)calculated by AI and manually were collected respectively and consistency analysis was performed.Results The area under the curve(AUC)of PE-AI,manual and combined diagnosis was 85.6％,90.8％and 95.1％,respectively,which differed significantly(P＜0.05).The reading time of PE-AI[(0.16±0.07)min]was significantly lower than the time of manual[(4.42±1.85)min,P＜0.001]and combined diagnosis[(4.58±1.84)min,P＜0.001].The PAOI measured by PE-AI and manually had high consistency(intraclass correlation efficient,ICC=0.80)in the subgroup analysis of confirmed cases.Conclusion AI can quickly identify pulmonary artery emboli in a short time and assist radiologists to improve diagnostic efficiency.At the same time,through the intelligent detection of PAOI,it is helpful for the risk stratification of patients with PE and optimizing the diagnosis and treatment pathway for pulmonary embolism.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the associations between eight serum per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and regional fat depots, we analyzed the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2018 cycles. METHODS: Multiple linear regression models were developed to explore the associations between serum PFAS concentrations and six fat compositions along with a fat distribution score created by summing the concentrations of the six fat compositions. The associations between structurally grouped PFASs and fat distribution were assessed, and a prediction model was developed to estimate the ability of PFAS exposure to predict obesity risk. RESULTS: Among females aged 39-59 years, trunk fat mass was positively associated with perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS). Higher concentrations of PFOS, perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS), perfluorodecanoate (PFDeA), perfluorononanoate (PFNA), and n-perfluorooctanoate (n-PFOA) were linked to greater visceral adipose tissue in this group. In men, exposure to total perfluoroalkane sulfonates (PFSAs) and long-chain PFSAs was associated with reductions in abdominal fat, while higher abdominal fat in women aged 39-59 years was associated with short-chain PFSAs. The prediction model demonstrated high accuracy, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.9925 for predicting obesity risk. CONCLUSION PFAS exposure is associated with regional fat distribution, with varying effects based on age, sex, and PFAS structure. The findings highlight the potential role of PFAS exposure in influencing fat depots and obesity risk, with significant implications for public health. The prediction model provides a highly accurate tool for assessing obesity risk related to PFAS exposure.

This study explored the drying kinetics of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma(SM), established the suitable models simulating the drying kinetics, and then analyzed the dynamic changes of active components during the drying processes with different methods, aiming to provide a basis for the establishment of suitable drying methods and the quality control of SM. The drying kinetics were studied based on the drying curve, drying rate, moisture effective diffusion coefficient, and drying activation energy, and the appropriate drying kinetics model of SM was established. The drying performance of different methods, such as hot air drying, infrared drying, and microwave drying of SM was evaluated, and the changes in the content of 10 salvianolic acids and 6 tanshinones during drying were analyzed by UPLC-TQ-MS. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution(TOPSIS) was employed to evaluate the quality of SM dried with different methods. The results showed that the drying rate and moisture effective diffusion coefficient of SM increased with the rise in drying temperature, and the maximum drying rates of different methods were in the order of microwave drying > infrared drying > hot air drying, slice > whole root. The drying rate decreased with the rise in temperature and the extension of drying time. The activation energy of hot air drying was higher than that of infrared drying in SM. The most suitable model for simulating the drying process of SM was the Page model. The TOPSIS results suggested infrared drying at 50 ℃ was the optimal drying method for SM. During the drying process, the content of salvianolic acids increased in different degrees with the loss of moisture, among which salvianolic acid B showed the largest increase of 44 times compared with that in the fresh medicinal material. Tanshinones also existed in the fresh herb of SM, and the content of tanshinone Ⅱ_A increased by 3 times after drying. The results provided a basis for the establishment of suitable drying methods and the quality control of SM.

This study employed bioinformatics to screen the feature genes related to efferocytosis in diabetic kidney disease(DKD) and explores traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) regulating these feature genes. The GSE96804 and GSE30528 datasets were integrated as the training set, and the intersection of differentially expressed genes and efferocytosis-related genes(ERGs) was identified as DKD-ERGs. Subsequently, correlation analysis, protein-protein interaction(PPI) network construction, enrichment analysis, and immune infiltration analysis were performed. Consensus clustering was conducted on DKD patients based on the expression levels of DKD-ERGs, and the expression levels, immune infiltration characteristics, and gene set variations between different subtypes were explored. Eight machine learning models were constructed and their prediction performance was evaluated. The best-performing model was evaluated by nomograms, calibration curves, and external datasets, followed by the identification of efferocytosis-related feature genes associated with DKD. Finally, potential TCMs that can regulate these feature genes were predicted. The results showed that the training set contained 640 differentially expressed genes, and after intersecting with ERGs, 12 DKD-ERGs were obtained, which demonstrated mutual regulation and immune modulation effects. Consensus clustering divided DKD into two subtypes, C1 and C2. The support vector machine(SVM) model had the best performance, predicting that growth arrest-specific protein 6(GAS6), S100 calcium-binding protein A9(S100A9), C-X3-C motif chemokine ligand 1(CX3CL1), 5'-nucleotidase(NT5E), and interleukin 33(IL33) were the feature genes of DKD. Potential TCMs with therapeutic effects included Astragali Radix, Trionycis Carapax, Sargassum, Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Curcumae Radix, and Alismatis Rhizoma, which mainly function to clear heat, replenish deficiency, activate blood, resolve stasis, and promote urination and drain dampness. Molecular docking revealed that the key components of these TCMs, including β-sitosterol, quercetin, and sitosterol, exhibited good binding activity with the five target genes. These results indicated that efferocytosis played a crucial role in the development and progression of DKD. The feature genes closely related to both DKD and efferocytosis, such as GAS6, S100A9, CX3CL1, NT5E, and IL33, were identified. TCMs such as Astragali Radix, Trionycis Carapa, Sargassum, Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Curcumae Radix, and Alismatis Rhizoma may provide a new therapeutic strategy for DKD by regulating efferocytosis.
