ObjectiveTo provide evidence for strengthening tuberculosis control in Inner Mongolia by analyzing changes and influencing factors in public awareness of tuberculosis prevention and control information among residents between the early stage and 17 years after the implementation of the directly observed treatment, short-course (DOTS) strategy. MethodsBased on the "National Public Knowledge, Belief and Behavior Questionnaire on Tuberculosis Prevention and Control" designed by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a questionnaire survey was conducted among residents in Inner Mongolia using a multi-stage stratified random sampling method. Chi-square test was used for univariate analysis, and binary Logistic regression was employed to explore the influencing factors of public awareness of tuberculosis prevention and control information. ResultsThe overall awareness rate of core information on tuberculosis prevention and control among the public was 67.7% in 2006, and it decreased to 49.2% in 2023 (P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed, compared with the groups aged 15-29, illiterate and semi-illiterate, those with public medical care, and those with three or fewer family members, the awareness rate of the groups aged 60 and above (OR=0.689), those with primary and junior high school education (OR=0.856), and those with self-paid medical care (OR=0.468) was significantly lower in 2006. The awareness rate was relatively high in groups with more than 3 family members (OR=1.236) (P<0.05). Compared with the groups aged 15-29, illiterate and semi-illiterate, married, Han ethnicity, employed, and those receiving public medical care, the awareness rate was higher among the groups aged 30-59 (OR=1.976), 60 and above (OR=2.224), those with high school education and above (OR=2.801), and single (OR=2.244) in 2023. However, the awareness rates of ethnic minorities (OR=0.737), the unemployed (OR=0.557), and self-funded medical care (OR=0.497) groups were significantly lower (P<0.05). ConclusionPublic awareness of TB prevention knowledge in Inner Mongolia remains suboptimal. Strengthening diversified health education campaigns, addressing social stigma, and improving healthcare access are critical to enhance regional TB control outcomes.

Debates persist regarding the efficacy and safety of azvudine, particularly its real-world outcomes. This study involved patients aged ≥60 years who were admitted to 25 hospitals in mainland China with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection between December 1, 2022, and February 28, 2023. Efficacy outcomes were all-cause mortality during hospitalization, the proportion of patients discharged with recovery, time to nucleic acid-negative conversion (T NANC), time to symptom improvement (T SI), and time of hospital stay (T HS). Safety was also assessed. Among the 5884 participants identified, 1999 received azvudine, and 1999 matched controls were included after exclusion and propensity score matching. Azvudine recipients exhibited lower all-cause mortality compared with controls in the overall population (13.3% vs. 17.1%, RR, 0.78; 95% CI, 0.67-0.90; P = 0.001) and in the severe subgroup (25.7% vs. 33.7%; RR, 0.76; 95% CI, 0.66-0.88; P < 0.001). A higher proportion of patients discharged with recovery, and a shorter T NANC were associated with azvudine recipients, especially in the severe subgroup. The incidence of adverse events in azvudine recipients was comparable to that in the control group (2.3% vs. 1.7%, P = 0.170). In conclusion, azvudine showed efficacy and safety in older patients hospitalized with COVID-19 during the SARS-CoV-2 omicron wave in China.

Magnetic stimulation has made significant strides in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Nonetheless, current magnetic stimulation techniques lack the precision to accurately modulate specific nuclei and cannot realize deep brain magnetic stimulation. To address this, we utilized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles as mediators to achieve precise targeting and penetration. We investigated the effects of magnetic fields with varying frequencies on neuronal activity and compared the activation effects on neurons using a 10-Hz precise magneto-stimulation system (pMSS) with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in mice. Oxytocin levels, dendritic morphology and density, and mouse behavior were measured before and after pMSS intervention. Our findings suggest that pMSS can activate oxytocinergic neurons, leading to upregulation of oxytocin secretion and neurite outgrowth. As a result, sociability was rapidly improved after a one-week pMSS treatment regimen. These results demonstrate a promising magneto-stimulation method for regulating neuronal activity in deep brain nuclei and provide a promising therapeutic approach for autism spectrum disorder.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;66(8):769-774
Postprandial drowsiness is a clinical condition characterized by pronounced drowsiness after meals, while The Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor (《黄帝内经》) associates this condition with wei qi (defensive qi). By analyzing the original texts of The Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor and perspectives from many medical professionals, it is found that the transition between wakefulness and sleep depends on the mutual induction of yin and yang, and that the two pathways of wei qi circulation intersect at the spleen and stomach. Based on this, the core pathogenesis of postprandial drowsiness is proposed to be either upper jiao obstruction or spleen-stomach dysfunction, leading to the stagnation of wei qi internally, then the mutual induction of yin and yang causes inward invasion of wei qi in the body, resulting in drowsiness; at this stage, the stagnated and inward invasive wei qi converges at the spleen and stomach, then merges into the circulation of zang-fu organs, rerouting through the Foot Taiyang Meridian, forming a circulation pattern described as "circulating from yin to yang". Treatment should focus on the root and branch simultaneously, with the primary goal of regulating the circulation of wei qi; facilitating its transition from yin to yang to restore the sleep-wake cycle. By proposing the model of wei qi circulating from yin to yang, this study offers novel insights on the understanding of postprandial drowsiness.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of hybrid fixation with tibial prosthesis in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Methods:A total of 39 patients (42 knees) with knee osteoarthritis who underwent primary TKA with hybrid fixation with tibial prosthesis in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from November 2022 to June 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 12 males and 27 females with an average age of 68.23±7.02 years (range, 58-89 years). The mean body mass index was 26.15±4.63 kg/m 2 (range, 19.48-39.03 kg/m 2), and the mean bone mineral density T score was -2.38±0.78 (from -4.2 to -1.2). The left knee was 19, and the right knee was 23. The visual analogue scale (VAS) and Knee Society score (KSS) were used to evaluate the knee joint pain and function, and the knee flexion range of motion was measured. Radiographic evaluation included hip-knee-ankle angle, lateral distal femoral angle, and posterior slope of tibial plateau. Results:All patients successfully completed the operation and were followed up for 19.8±5.1 months (range, 4.9-23.6 months). All patients were treated with hybrid fixation with tibial prosthesis assisted by 3D printed porous titanium alloy sleeve. The operation time was 73.8±10.8 min (range, 54-98 min). Thirty-four of 39 patients received standard anti-osteoporosis therapy before operation. The VAS score at the last follow-up was 0(0, 1), which was lower than that before operation 7(6,8), and the difference was statistically significant ( U<0.001, Ρ<0.001). The KSS clinical score at the last follow-up was 76.67±10.04, which was higher than that before operation (50.95±7.35), and the difference was statistically significant ( t=12.030, Ρ<0.001). The knee flexion range of motion at last follow-up was 97.26°±12.94°, showing no significant difference when compared with preoperative 94.52°±16.52° ( t=0.846, Ρ=0.400). The hip-knee-ankle angle at last follow-up was 176.2°±2.54°, which was significantly higher than that before operation 173.5°±5.25° ( t=3.328, Ρ=0.002). The distal lateral femoral and posterior tibial inclination angles at the final follow-up were 89.58°±1.62° and 2.85°±0.91°, respectively, compared with 90.71°±4.01° and 3.05°±1.25° preoperatively, with no statistically significant differences ( t=1.556, Ρ=0.127; t=0.923, Ρ=0.359). No prosthesis loosening, dislocation, periprosthetic infection, deep vein thrombosis and other complications occurred. Conclusion:Hybrid fixation with tibial prosthesis in primary TKA for patients with osteoporosis or osteopenia has a satisfactory clinical effect, which can relieve knee pain and improve joint function.

Obesity, as a chronic recurrent disease, has become a major public health challenge in China. To implement the requirements of the Healthy China Initiative (2019—2030), under domestic guidelines or consensus statements on overweight and obesity, and in alignment with the latest scientific advances globally, the Quality control protocol for adult overweight and obesity screening in health management (examination) institutions (2025 edition) was developed. This protocol was drafted by the Health Management Center of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital and formulated through multiple rounds of deliberation by experts in China’s health examination quality control field. The protocol establishes unified standards for screening facilities, personnel qualifications, and measurement or testing procedures. It defines specific screening items, outlines a standardized screening pathway, and sets requirements for the final medical review, ensuring the scientific validity, effectiveness, and safety of the screening process. The implementation of this protocol will enhance the consistency of weight management practices for adults across health examination institutions and strengthen the quality control of overweight and obesity screening programs.
