Objective:To develop a treatment-related quality of life scale for Chinese patients with multiple myeloma (MM) and to test its reliability and validity. Methods:The initial scale was constructed through a literature search, Delphi expert correspondence, and cognitive testing. This study conducted a preliminary survey of 379 patients with MM and a formal survey of 865 patients from the hematology departments of 155 hospitals nationwide from February 2024 to March 2024. The final scale was obtained after conducting item analysis and reliability and validity tests on the initial scale. Results:The constructed scale contains 36 items covering six domains: physiological, psychological, social, treatment side effects, general health, and others. In the preliminary survey, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of each item ranged from 0.597 to 0.939, and the test-retest reliability was 0.747 ( P<0.001). Exploratory factor analysis extracted eight common factors with a cumulative variance contribution of 60.058%. In the formal survey, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of each item ranged from 0.484 to 0.930, and the test-retest reliability was 0.835 ( P<0.001). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a comparative fit index of 0.750, a root-mean-square error of approximation of 0.090, and a root-mean-square residual of 0.067. Conclusion:The treatment-related quality of life scale for Chinese patients with MM designed in this study exhibited good reliability and validity, reflecting the impact of treatment on the quality of life of patients. This scale can provide a reference to clinicians for assessing the disease status of patients.

Patients with severe trauma require an extremely timely treatment and transfusion plays an irreplaceable role in the emergency treatment of such patients. An increasing number of evidence-based medicinal evidences and clinical practices suggest that patients with severe traumatic bleeding benefit from early transfusion of low-titer group O whole blood or hemostatic resuscitation with red blood cells, plasma and platelet of a balanced ratio. However, the current domestic mode of blood supply cannot fully meet the requirements of timely and effective blood transfusion for emergency treatment of patients with severe trauma in clinical practice. In order to solve the key problems in blood supply and blood transfusion strategies for emergency treatment of severe trauma, Branch of Clinical Transfusion Medicine of Chinese Medical Association, Group for Trauma Emergency Care and Multiple Injuries of Trauma Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Young Scholar Group of Disaster Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association organized domestic experts of blood transfusion medicine and trauma treatment to jointly formulate Chinese expert consensus on blood support mode and blood transfusion strategies for emergency treatment of severe trauma patients ( version 2024). Based on the evidence-based medical evidence and Delphi method of expert consultation and voting, 10 recommendations were put forward from two aspects of blood support mode and transfusion strategies, aiming to provide a reference for transfusion resuscitation in the emergency treatment of severe trauma and further improve the success rate of treatment of patients with severe trauma.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) is a common disease in middle-aged and elderly men, with lower urinary tract symptoms as the main manifestation, severely affecting the quality of life of patients. The pathogenesis of BPH is not yet fully understood, and there are still some challenges and limitations in western medicine treatment for BPH. Therefore, finding new and more effective treatment strategies is urgent. In recent years, many basic and clinical studies have confirmed the important role of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of BPH. This article reviews the progress of basic and clinical research in the treatment of BPH with traditional Chinese medicine, and believes that basic research mainly focuses on the active ingredients of Chinese medicine [regulating pathways such as NF-E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/antioxidant response element(ARE), nuclear factor κB(NF-κB), epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3), phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR), p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(p38 MAPK)/forkhead box O subtype(FOXO3a), etc.], single Chinese herbs(regulating inflammatory factors, oxidative stress-related proteins, cell cycle-related proteins, and apoptotic factors, etc.), and Chinese herbal compounds and patent medicines [regulating extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK1/2), transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)/Smad, mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK), PI3K/Akt, Nrf2, trefoil factor 2(TFF2)/Wnt, interleukin-6(IL-6)/Janus kinase 2(JAK2)/STAT3, hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α)/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor(VEGFR), etc.], and then play a therapeutic role by inhibiting BPH cell proliferation, oxidative stress, inflammatory response, promoting apoptosis, and inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Clinical studies mainly focus on internal treatment, external treatment, combined internal and external treatment, and integrated Chinese and western medicine treatment as the main methods, aiming to improve traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, prostate symptom scores, residual urine volume, effective bladder volume, sexual quality of life, increase average urine flow rate, maximum urine flow rate, and promote balance of sex hormone secretion. Through this research, it is hoped to provide some reference ideas for clinical research and drug development for BPH.

Mycobacterium intracellular CHPC 1.5701 strain was isolated from the sputum specimen of the patient. This study attempted to establish a guinea pig infection model to evaluate its virulence,so as to provide basic scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of Mycobacterium intracellular infection.Mycobacterium intracellular CHPC 1.5701 was cultured in 7H10 medium. The morphology of the colony changed from colorless to light yellow smooth colony, and the acid-fast staining was positive.Mycobacterium intracellular suspension was diluted with 0.9%sodium chloride solution to 1 × 1010 CFU/mL,1×109 CFU/mL,1 × 108 CFU/mL,1 × 107 CFU/mL and 1 × 106 CFU/mL,respectively.Healthy Hartly guinea pigs with negative skin test of pure protein derivatives of tuberculin were selected and randomly divided into 6 groups with 10 guinea pigs in each group, half male and half female.Guinea pigs in the ex-perimental group were divided into 5 groups, which were intra-peritoneally injected with 5 different concentrations of 1.0 mL suspension/guinea pig,and those in the control group were in-traperitoneally injected with 0.9%sodium chloride solution 1.0 mL suspension/guinea pig.The guinea pigs was then observed, weighed every week, dissected 5 weeks later, lung, spleen and liver tissues were taken, and the tissue lesions were analyzed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining,and the bacteria load was detected by tissue homogenate culture in 7H10 medium. The results showed that Mycobacterium intracellular challenge test had no significant effect on body weight of male guinea pigs(P>0.05),but could reduce body weight of female guinea pigs(P<0.01).No pathological changes of organ tissues were ob-served in guinea pigs in the control group, while HE staining of lung, spleen and liver tissues of guinea pigs in challenge experi-mental groups showed alveolar wall alveolar epithelial hyperplasia, monocyte infiltration in liver and spleen, granulomatous in-flammation and other pathological changes, and the degree of pathological changes was related to the injection dose of Mycobac-terium intracellular.Mycobacteria intracellular could be isolated from tissue culture of some organs, among which the spleen had a large amount of bacteria.Intrabitoneal injection of Mycobacteria intracellular CHPC 1.5701 can affect the body weight of female guinea pigs and cause lung, liver and spleen infection of guinea pigs, but no caseous necrosis of guinea pigs was ob-served.Compared with the reported data of Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulence test,it is concluded that Mycobacterium in-tracellular has certain virulence to guinea pigs and belongs to low virulence and low pathogenicity bacteria...

OBJECTIVES:
To investigate the efficacy and required indicators of Children Neuropsychological and Behavioral Scale-Revision 2016 (CNBS-R2016) in the differential diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and global developmental delay (GDD).
METHODS:
A total of 277 children with ASD and 415 children with GDD, aged 18-48 months, were enrolled as subjects. CNBS-R2016 was used to assess the developmental levels of six domains, i.e., gross motor, fine motor, adaptive ability, language, social behavior, and warning behavior, and a total of 13 indicators on intelligence age and developmental quotient (DQ) were obtained as the input features. Five commonly used machine learning classifiers were used for training to calculate the classification accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of each classifier.
RESULTS:
DQ of warning behavior was selected as the first feature in all five classifiers, and the use of this indicator alone had a classification accuracy of 78.90%. When the DQ of warning behavior was used in combination with the intelligence age of warning behavior, gross motor, and language, it had the highest classification accuracy of 86.71%.
CONCLUSIONS
Machine learning combined with CNBS-R2016 can effectively distinguish children with ASD from those with GDD. The DQ of warning behavior plays an important role in machine learning, and its combination with other features can improve classification accuracy, providing a basis for the efficient and accurate differential diagnosis of ASD and GDD in clinical practice.

China Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2023;36(6):574-578
OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the clinical outcomes of mini-plate combined with wireforms in the treatment of Type C distal radial fractures with marginal articular fragments.
METHODS:
This retrospective study included a total of 10 cases, including 5 males and 5 females, with 6 cases involving the left side and 4 cases involving the right side, of Type C distal radial fractures with marginal articular fragments. The age of the patients ranged from 35 to 67 years old. All patients underwent surgical treatment utilizing mini-plate combined with wireforms for internal fixation.
RESULTS:
The follow-up period ranged from 6 to 18 months. Complete fracture healing was observed in all cases, with healing times ranging from 10 to 16 weeks. During the entire follow-up period, patients reported high levels of satisfaction with the treatment outcomes, and there were no incidences of incision infection, chronic wrist pain, or wrist traumatic arthritis. At the final follow-up assessment, the Mayo score for the wrist joint ranged from 85 to 95, with 7 cases rated as excellent and 3 cases as good.
CONCLUSION
Mini-plate combined with wireforms proves to be an effective fixation method for Type C distal radial fractures with marginal articular fragments. The early initiation of wrist joint exercises, strong fixation, maintenance of proper reduction, minimal complications, and high rates of excellent and good outcomes demonstrate the reliability and efficacy of this treatment approach.
