The aim of this study was to qualitatively and quantitatively detect coronavirus(CoV)in the feces of bats from Qinghua Cave,Yunnan Province,China.CoV was qualitatively tested with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),and homology and genetic evolution were analyzed with bioinformatics software.The established reverse transcription real-time fluores-cence quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR)method was applied to CoV quantification in bat feces.The positivity rate of CoV in 306 fecal samples collected from the fulvous fruit bat(Rousettus leschenaultia)was 7.8%(24/306)according to RT-PCR.All 24 strains of CoV belonged to β-CoV,and showed a similarity of 86.8%-100.0%at the nucleotide level and 95.2%-100.0%at the amino acid level,with respect to other β-CoV sequences in the NCBI database.The positivity rate of CoV was 18.6%(57/306)according to qRT-PCR,a value higher than that according to RT-PCR(χ2=25.3,P<0.05).The mean β-CoV load was 1.3×103 copies/μL.In conclusion,the bats in Qinghua Cave,Yunnan Province,carried CoV belonging to β-CoV.The established qRT-PCR method achieved good sensitiv-ity,accuracy,reproducibility,and a higher detection rate than that of RT-PCR,and can be used for rapid detection of β-CoV in bats.

Background::To date, there is no effective medicine to treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and the antiviral efficacy of arbidol in the treatment for COVID-19 remained equivocal and controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of arbidol tablets in the treatment of COVID-19.Methods::This was a prospective, open-label, controlled and multicenter investigator-initiated trial involving adult patients with confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Patients were stratified 1:2 to either standard-of-care (SOC) or SOC plus arbidol tablets (oral administration of 200 mg per time, three times a day for 14 days). The primary endpoint was negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week. The rates and 95% confidential intervals were calculated for each variable.Results::A total of 99 patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were enrolled; 66 were assigned to the SOC plus arbidol tablets group, and 33 to the SOC group. The negative conversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week in patients receiving arbidol tablets was significantly higher than that of the SOC group (70.3% [45/64] vs. 42.4% [14/33]; difference of conversion rate 27.9%; 95% confidence interval [CI], 7.7%-48.1%; P = 0.008). Compared to those in the SOC group, patients receiving arbidol tablets had a shorter duration of clinical recovery (median 7.0 days vs. 12.0 days; hazard ratio [HR]: 1.877, 95% CI: 1.151-3.060, P = 0.006), symptom of fever (median 3.0 days vs. 12.0 days; HR: 18.990, 95% CI: 5.350-67.410, P < 0.001), as well as hospitalization (median 12.5 days vs. 20.0 days; P < 0.001). Moreover, the addition of arbidol tablets to SOC led to more rapid normalization of declined blood lymphocytes (median 10.0 days vs. 14.5 days; P > 0.05). The most common adverse event in the arbidol tablets group was the elevation of transaminase (5/200, 2.5%), and no one withdrew from the study due to adverse events or disease progression. Conclusions::SOC plus arbidol tablets significantly increase the negative conversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week and accelerate the recovery of COVID-19 patients. Objective: To study the effect of continuous nursing care on quality of life in patients with rheumatoid arthritis after discharge. Methods: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were admitted to hospital from August 2016 to August 2017 were selected as the study subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group and the research group, and the lost cases were eliminated. There were 99 cases in the control group and 94 cases in the research group. The control group was given routine care, and the research group conducted continuous nursing care measures on the basis of the control group. The morning stiffness time, pain score, disease activity, patient health status and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were observed before and 6 weeks after discharge. Results: Six weeks after discharge, the morning stiffness time (23.76±12.76) min of the research group was significantly higher than that of the control group (38.22±14.53) min, the difference was statistically significant (t=3.865, P<0.05). Six weeks after discharge, the VAS (2.01±0.68) and HAQ (0.42±0.34) points of the research group were lower than those of the control group (4.17±1.30), (0.92±0.63) points, the difference was statistically significant (t=4.073, 3.916, P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction of the research group was 94.68%(89/94), and that of the control group was 78.79%(78/99), and the difference was statistically significant (χ²=9.416, P < 0.05). Conclusions The implementation of continuous care mode after discharge from patients with rheumatoid arthritis is beneficial to alleviate clinical symptoms such as morning stiffness and pain. Moreover, it can also improve patient health and quality of life, increase risk of disease progression, and care satisfaction is high which can help to protect the harmony between nurses and patients.

Objective To investigate the effect of Osthole on memory function of sleep deprivation(SD) mice. Methods Forty-eight male mice were randomly divided into 4 groups;normal control group(NC group ), large platform control group(TC group),sleep deprivation group(M group)and Osthole group(Ost group). The model of SD in mice was estabished by using improved multi platform method. The ability of learning and memory was tested by using Morris water maze test and pathological changes of hippocampal neurons in mice were observed by HE staining. The serum,hippcampus malondialdehyde(MDA)contents and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity, so as the hippocampus No content,were detected. Results Compared with NC group and TC group,the escape la-tency of M group increased significiantly and the number of crossing platform decreased significantly. There were in-creased levels hippocampus tissue,serum MDA level,hippocampal SOD activity and NO content. After supplemen-tation of Osthole,the escape latency significantly shortened in mice. The number of crossing platform was increased while the contents of MDA both in hippocampus and serum were decreased,and the SOD activity in hippocampus re-turned to normal. However,the level of NO in hippocampus was not decreased. Conclusion Osthole can protect the memory function of SD mice by reducing the the damage of hippocampal neurons through antioxidant stress.

OBJECTIVETo compare the diagnostic value of ¹⁸F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT) and large-scale diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) for evaluation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) bone marrow (BM) infiltration.

METHODSA total of 79 patients with pathologically diagnosed NHL underwent ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT, large scale DWI and BM pathological examination. BM examination as the "gold standard", the performance (the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive value) of ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT and large scale DWI for evaluation of BM infiltration was compared and the risk of BM infiltration of different subtypes and sources of NHL was analyzed.

RESULTS25 of 79 cases were diagnosed as BM infiltration by pathological examination with 57 BM sites. Abnormal high BM metabolisms were identified in 22 cases with 56 BM sites by ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT and 25 cases with 58 BM sites by large-scale DWI. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive value of ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT were 80.0%, 96.3%, 91.1%, 90.9%, 91.2%, respectively. And they were 84.0%, 92.6%, 89.9%, 84.0%, and 92.6% by large-scale DWI, respectively. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis demonstrated that there was no statistical difference in ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT and large-scale DWI (P>0.05). The area under ROC curve for ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT and large-scale DWI were 0.911 and 0.883 respectively. The incidences of BM infiltration in aggressive NHL patients by ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT (21/69, 30.4%) and large-scale DWI (23/69, 33.3%) were higher than those (PET/CT: 10.0%; large-scale DWI: 20.0%; P>0.05) in indolent NHL patients.

CONCLUSION¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT and large-scale DWI had important clinical value in diagnosing BM infiltration of NHL. A combination of ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT, large-scale DWI and pathological examination could improve the positive rate of BM infiltration in NHL.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of cluster needling of scalp acupuncture combined with rehabilitation(Tang's Approach) on interleukin-4 (IL-4), T lymphocyte subsets of immunosuppressive model rat.Methods40 healthy SD rats (male, 200～250 g) was divided into 5 groups randomly: normal group (NG), model group (MG), acupuncture group(AG), rehabilitation group(RG), and acupuncture with rehabilitation group(ARG), 8 rats in each group. Each group was treated by acupuncture or rehabilitation except the model or normal group, once a day for 10 d. Radioimmunoassay and malondialdehydein (MDA) technique were used to test the contents of IL-4 and T lymphocyte subsets in each group. ResultsThe contents of IL-4 of immunosuppressive rats can decrease significantly in RG and ARG (P＜0.05). The level of CD4+ T lymphocyte increased more significantly in AG and RAG than in MG after the treatment (P＜0.01). ConclusionTang's Approach can decrease the contents of IL-4 and improve the level of CD4+ T lymphocyte in rats.

Objective To evaluate physiologic ability and surgical stress (E-PASS) for predicting postoperative complications in patients undergoing elective colonic surgery. Methods The clinical data of 158 patients with colonic cancer who were admitted to the West China Hospital from August to October, 2009 were retrospectively analyzed. E-PASS was applied to evaluate the surgical risk. Three indexes of the E-PASS system,including preoperative risk score (PRS), surgical stress score (SSS) and comprehensive risk score (CRS) were compared with actual postoperative outcomes. Correlation between PRS, SSS, CRS and postoperative risks was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. Results Of the 158 patients, 27( 17.1% ) had postoperative complications, and the predictive value was 19.4% ± 2.0% according to the E-PASS. Dukes stages, physical performance indexes, severe heart disease, severe pneumonia disease, length of operation time were correlated with the incidence of complications (r = 0. 193, 0. 410, 0. 183, 0. 174, 0. 198, P ＜ 0.05). PRS, CRS and SSS had good predictive effect on postoperative risks (r = 0. 299, 0. 349, 0. 183, P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusions E-PASS system is a relatively simple, fast and user friendly tool for predicting the risk of short-term postoperative complications.
